Hi there,

I was surfing around the net and found two trustworthy sites that have a 13 song tracklisting for In Your Dreams. I'm guessing track number 14 will be available as a Japan and/or iTunes bonus track. Any idea which song that might be? Anyway, the links are:

http://www.rhinorecords.ca/shop/products/CD+Catalog/PID-154634144.aspx

https://www.nlstore.nl/muziek/pop/nicks-stevie/in-your-dreams/0093624958680

Now, here's the final (?) tracklisting for Stevie Nicks - In Your Dreams (2011)

1. Secret Love
2. For What It's Worth
3. In Your Dreams
4. Wide Sargasso Sea
5. New Orleans
6. Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream)
7. Annabel Lee
8. Soldier's Angel
9. Everybody Loves You
10. Ghosts Are Gone
11. You May Be The One
12. Italian Summer
13. Cheaper Than Free

I'm very much looking forward to this new work of the Divine Miss Nicks and hope also that there will be a deluxe cd/dvd edition as well as a good old fashioned vinyl LP!

Greetings to all Stevie/F-Mac fans out there from Venlo-Blerick, The Netherlands and let's hope she will tour again soon in Europe!

Thanks for sharing! I'm starting to get really excited! We're truly on the home stretch now!

I think we've had some clue of all of these except for "You May Be The One"

At least I haven't heard of that one.

I'm pumped! :)

Nope, she let that title slip in one of her flurry of radio interviews about a month ago. So there we have it! Every song title (except perhaps "New Orleans") was leaked in advance in print and radio interviews. Unprecedented! I was secretly hoping to see something completely unknown, but I'm happy that we're getting 13 tracks. :blob1: I saw this track list and instantly thought, OMG, this track list/sequence will be with us for the rest of our lives. I know that's kind of dramatic... but I can't think of Bella Donna without thinking about each song in its proper sequence, e.g., the way HSML starts up quietly right after Eo17 ends. If the past 30 years are any indication, I will spend the next 30 years feeling the same way about all of her music. I dunno... it's almost like awaiting the birth of your adopted child.

Ooh. Thought. Didn't FM77 say that Secret Love was track #1 and that New Orleans was track #5? They might have been telling the truth all along

I do hope this is the official tracklisting, although, I hope You May Be The One is a little uptempo, otherwise it looks as though the CD will drag towards the end.

S/he did say that. Again, I have no idea why people were so quick to jump down his/her throat about this info. Nothing has proven to be wrong yet...

Anyway, very glad to see a final list. And well done to the sleuthing of the Ledgies, who were able to figure them all out first!

Yes. I have to wonder if the part of the sizzle reel where Stevie is singing:

"burn this house down!"

Is actually Ghosts Are Gone vs Wide Sargosso Sea.

Well, if you look at the story of Wide Sargasso Sea, it fits the lyric of the song

No, Based on the call sheets for the video/film shoot, there is no video for "The Ghosts are Gone.", besides the lyrics fit the movie/novel perfectly.

I'm speculating that "You May Be The One" along with "For What It's Worth" are the Mike Campbell collaborations. So YMBTO is probably/hopefully a mid-tempo to all out rock song.

If this is the final order I bet 'For What it's Worth' and 'In Your Dreams' are kick ass rockers.Does Mike Campbell have two tracks. One or both of these could be those tracks.

1. Secret Love (S. Nicks)
2. For What It's Worth (S. Nicks, D.Stewart)
3. In Your Dreams (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
4. Wide Sargasso Sea (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
5. New Orleans (S. Nicks)
6. Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
7. Annabel Lee (S. Nicks)
8. Soldier's Angel (S. Nicks)
9. Everybody Loves You (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
10. Ghosts Are Gone (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
11. You May Be The One (S. Nicks, M. Campbell)
12. Italian Summer (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)

When I read the title "The Ghosts Are Gone", I don't think of a rocker. I think of an emotional yet positive, uplifting song in a similar tempo to "Juliet" or "If I Were You" - I would call those songs upbeat, but not rockers. Maybe it's just me lol

I would prefer that this album be full of more mid to uptempo rock songs than anything. So from this track list and its sequence I would glean there are @9 mid to uptempo songs & 4 slower to ballads songs. I remember that was my biggest gripe when OSOTM came out at the time, that there was only one real rocker (LWTG) and the rest of the record was so mellow/drowsy LOL easily making it her most sleepy and adult contemporary record to date.
IYD just may be Stevies' most rock album to date.

I'm pretty sure I heard or read something saying that "For What It's Worth" is a Mike Campbell collaboration. The other one is either YMBTO or TGAG, I'm suspecting the former. Stevie also said she wrote 5 songs for the record, So I would include "Moonlight" as also being penned by Stevie alone.

Amazon doesn't have a track listing yet, since they probably will have a Bonus Track once again. Even pre~release, Stevie is poised to succeed on the charts:

Amazon Bestsellers Rank: #111 in Music (See Top 100 in Music)
#3 in Music > Classic Rock > Album-Oriented Rock (AOR)
#60 in Music > Rock > General

In the article in which the title "You May Be the One" emerged (actually, I think it was a radio interview), Stevie said that "You May Be the One" was the first song that she and Dave wrote together, where he took a line of her poetry and started playing music to it.

So I think it has already been established that YMBTO is a Nicks/Stewart track.

I think Secret Love will work fine as an album opener. It's an enjoyable little ditty. :)

No surprises with the tracklist, but I'm glad it's been officially released. Wasn't wild about the New Orleans song actually being titled New Orleans initially, but I'm warming up to it. It's a pretty romantic name for a city, and it fits in there next to Wide Sargasso Sea and Moonlight.

A 13-track album full of fast-tempo rock would be overkill to the extreme. Mostly mid-tempo, with 2 or 3 slower ones and a couple of fast rockers sounds about right to me.

I think Annabel Lee should be Poe/Nicks/Stewart/Ballad. I'm fairly sure she said in an interview that Glen Ballad did something to the song, and Dave wrote an awesome bridge. Or something. I'd be pretty surprised if she didn't credit Poe, as well.

"Annabelle Lee" is a TISL demo - way before she worked with Dave.
Also, didn't she say something about writing "Italian Summer" whilst away in Italy, and that it was about a summer love? Hardly the kind of thing she would co-write.

It was only speculation over the tracks, I wasn't confirming anything. But we certainly know that "Secret Love", "Annabelle Lee", "New Orleans" and "Soildiers Angel" are Nicks written only, as these are the 4 tracks that were all written before the Stevie/Dave sessions.

Stevie did write Italian Summer in Italy. That is what she told us in December--she was staying in Ravello and left a handwritten set of lyrics for the owner of the villa to keep "because this place is going to be famous". (Meaning once people heard her song they would flock to the scene of its inspiration).

I thought she said Dave wrote the track but I'm not sure.

It's possible that she was referring to having written the poetry herself, while she was in Italy...but then that poetry turned into a co-written song with Dave.

I'm thinking "Secret Love", "Italian Summer" and either "Soldiers Angel" or "New Orleans" as we've known about both of those for a while now. I guess Lindsey or Dave could've added something and got a writing credit for it. Can't see her giving Lindsey a writing credit, in all honesty

All this co-written he said/she said is getting out of hand. From all accounts we know for sure that Stevie wrote 5 of the songs: Secret Love, Soldier's Angel, New Orleans, and most likely the other 2 songs are Moonlight (*remember she said she finished this song in Brisbane, and knew it was time to begin recording) & Annabel Lee.
Of the remaining 8 co-written songs > 7 are Dave Stewart collaborations. So it's looking to me, most likely that D.S. added something new to the older M.C. & S.N. collaboration. Remember when Mike said Stevie wanted to dig up one of their older songs, and they went into the studio and made it even better! So unless, there are only 6 D.S. co-writes on the actual record and the 7th one is the still to be announced *bonus track*, that would be my theory.
Other than that, the only songs we have confirmation on is that YMBTO & ELY are Dave/Stevie collaboration. Though, Jondalar, I'd bet money that "Italian Summer" is taken from the book of poems Stevie sent to Dave, in which he added chords and instrumentation to, when they began writing together.
But until we all have the liner notes, we are going to drive each other crazy. Everything is speculative at this time. But, I guess it is fun, now that it looks like we have the official track list.:D

After hearing the snippet of "Italian Summer" in the sizzle reel, there is no doubt in my mind that Dave wrote the music; I just don't think something like this exists in Stevie's musical vocabulary. For one thing, it's waltz time. Secondly, it has a very sing-songy melody which would not seem out of place in a stage musical, and Dave just did the music for a new West End musical. Also, it sounds like something that would have fit beautifully on a Eurythmics album.

They have all set the tone for the record and blew me away. Secret Love doesn't really blow me away. It's a nice song, but doesn't feel like an "opener". Does this makes sense?

I completely understand. Secret Love is a cute little song but it's not what I would expect from an opener at all....

Hmmm... Not saying your right, not saying I'm wrong. I could have sworn Stevie said she wrote 5 of the songs in recent interviews. We shall see.:)

In this article, she says she and Dave cowrote 9 songs:

Yes, I'm a bit shocked seeing SL as the opening song as well. "Moonlight - A Vampires Dream" just feels like a great opening just from the short clip. And I could have sworn that Stevie said in a recent interview(either in print or the radio ones) that it was indeed the 1st track on the record. Maybe, they switched stuff around at the last moment. However, on the positive side - Secret Love is a good solid & short accessible ditty to draw you into the record easily. And having Moonlight segue after New Orleans does kinda seem appropriate, with all the ghosts, voodoo & vampires associated with New Orleans folklore.

Looks good to me.

I don't mind the tracklisting sequence. I tend to change them around in my Itunes to suite the order the way my ears want to hear them.

I wonder if Secret Love's ending merges into For What It's Worth a la TISL-Candlebright.

"Italian Summer" ... I just don't think something like this exists in Stevie's musical vocabulary. For one thing, it's waltz time.

"Garbo" is a waltz, and Stevie wrote it in 1973! ;)

But I know what you mean; I got a huge Eurythmics vibe from it, like their 1989 song "Angel"... Or "The Miracle Of Love".

Yeah, I remember that. But recently Stevie has stated in interviews that 7 of the tracks that made the record were co-written by D. S. Besides, we have no concrete as to how many tracks were recorded all together. Other than her saying they recorded 14 track for her record, but that was not including Cheaper Than Free, which back then, was originally only going to appear on Dave's Blackbird album.
So we know Cheaper Than Free was decided to be added to IYD late last year, therefore potetially tossing 2 tracks off the record. So it looking like we could get 2 bonus tracks, unless Stevie & Dave's info has been inaccurate, or we've been taking it too literally.

I liked the sequence as I heard it--Stevie referred to For What It's Worth as "the train song" because of its train like rhythm..I liked it alot as it had an alt-country feel. IYD I loved and thought these three back-to-back sounded killer and very fresh. I did not like the Moonlight song at first...it does not have that big driving feel throughout like the snippet...it seemed long and a little sluggish before it built to what you hear in the video. It's cool other people like it though. I did grow on me but it was not one of the stronger songs on the record IMO.

Dave Stewart himself said For What Its Worth was his favorite song on the album, which is saying a lot considering he cowrote half teh album and picked one of the few songs he didn't.

I believe Stevie will have 4 songs that just say written by Stevie Nicks not 3. She said she wrote 9 with Dave and 7 of them are on the album. Then there's 2 with Mike. So that leaves 4. I'm gonna guess they are Secret Love, New Orleads, Soldiers Angel and Italian Summer. Or maybe Moonlight is in and one of those 4 is out. Not that it matters to me what songs say what, really it's weird that some songs give Stevie sole credit when they are still transfromed quite a bit by other people. It's all psychological for Stevie and for us. BUT I belive this will be her first album ever where EVERY song will have her name next to it either alone or as a cowrite. That's really impressive.

I hear what you're saying, but listening to the Secret Love demo all these years and hearing the final product - the finished song doesn't stray from Stevie 's melody or simple chord structure at all. The rest is arrangement and embellishments. Stevie clearly should be given solo songwriting credit.

And it's interesting to hear D.S.'s favorite song is FWIW, I hadn't heard that he said that. Perhap's it because he's in an alt. country frame of mind with The Blackbird Diaries. None the less, it gives me another song to look forward to, as well as the so called "catchy" title track. I'm predicting that this album will blow most of us away:xoxo:

And it is exciting that this will be a 1st for Stevie - to have songwriting credit on every single song on the record.

Kind of off topic but does anybody know if Dave produced the song "Missionary Man?". It's one of my favorite songs of all time. I'm assuming so since it's a Eurythmics song and if so I worship him more than ever because that song is the shi*t!

*I just answered my own question and yes, he apparently produced all of the Eurythmics songs (duh). Now I'd loooooooooooove to see Stevie rockin' 0ut to Missionary Man with Dave. I'd be a very happy camper if any of Stevie's new songs had this kind of rockin' vibe.

I really wanted her to ditch this song too, and just let Dave have it for The Blackbird Diaries. It's the song clip out of everything, including Everybody Loves You, that I cannot get into...esp. from the extended clip we heard of recent with some eye poping & jaw droppin' lyrics:distress:. There is no way Cheaper then Free can be saved by the rest of the song when it contains the lyrics "whats deeper then a deep well" and "Whats Faster then a FAst Car" Reese Witherspoon should be punched in the face for inspiring this song. (FM77) S/he did say that. Again, I have no idea why people were so quick to jump down his/her throat about this info. Nothing has proven to be wrong yet...

I agree - FM77 has not disseminated any misinformation to date. He/she was criticised for not recognising that "Lady From The Mountain" had been integrated into "Moonlight" but from what I've heard of the snippet, there doesn't seem to be any obvious similarity/familiarity. It's also quite possible that the line "lady from the mountain" has been removed from the original song.

I do remember FM77 mentioned that "Secret Love" was approximately another minute longer than the version we have heard, but I noticed that the promo single stated the 3:15 running time as the album version. That said, the promo details could be incorrect or it's possible that the album version did eventually get edited. I personally would have liked another minute or so because it would have given Stevie a chance to build upon the momentum that is only hinted at during the version we know. I do, however, think the abrupt ending will be effective in terms of seguing into the following track. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

PS I was under the impression that "Moonlight" had to be a Stevie composition since she spoke of having written this in Melbourne in December 2009, before she teamed up with Dave for songwriting sessions. Also, since it has been morphed with "Lady From The Mountain", that would further suggest it is a sole composition - unless "Lady" was originally co-written with Mike Campbell, although I consider this unlikely since it was originally demoed for the "Bella Donna" album.

Ok, this made me laugh out loud! Hilarious. I can see why people are kind of up in arms on this song because lyrically it is so un-Stevie. I heard this while watching the video they did for it about 4x so that is what hooked me in on the song...that and that slide guitar hook in it and Stevie loved this song when she played it for us. She said she really thought this was a hit. Maybe on the country charts but not pop (that's my opinion).

Nope, the country thing is not a factor. The music and vocals all sound fine. I'm not a literary nazi by any means and am not anywhere near as critical as even Lindsey. The whole thrown down disscussion, I was on Stevie's side, even with the Bob Dylan overexageration. BUT isn't some rule in writing not to follow descriptive words like faster and deeper with those same danmed words!

I FINALLY got it to play on my Mac just now. Unless it's just me, it sounds even more twangy country than Dave's version of the song. I kinda figured Stevie's version would be more rock/pop. I guess it shouldn't surprise me Stevie's version is actually more twangy old school country... several songs on Bella Donna were quite country, most notably After The Glitter Fades.

Yeah, it has a very gin-soaked quality to it, which adds to the song's charm; and I think she & Dave sound great together. The lyrics do sound a bit simple, but I wonder if maybe that's the point. But I'd really have to hear the whole song to make a more definitive judgment.

It should shape up the be something like this:

1. Secret Love (S. Nicks)
2. For What It's Worth (S. Nicks, D.Stewart)
3. In Your Dreams (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
4. Wide Sargasso Sea (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
5. New Orleans (S. Nicks)
6. Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
7. Annabel Lee (S. Nicks)
8. Soldier's Angel (S. Nicks)
9. Everybody Loves You (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
10. Ghosts Are Gone (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
11. You May Be The One (S. Nicks, M. Campbell)
12. Italian Summer (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)
13. Cheaper Than Free (S. Nicks, D. Stewart)

There's another Mike Campbell song in there, but I don't think anyone is quite sure which one it is.

I was thinking about just how exciting this is - this is the first time that I'm getting hints through internet buzz ahead of time about Stevie's solo work. I wasn't that active on the boards for TISL, so this really is kind of new to me. And I'm loving it.:blob1:

I would prefer that this album be full of more mid to uptempo rock songs than anything. So from this track list and its sequence I would glean there are @9 mid to uptempo songs & 4 slower to ballads songs. I remember that was my biggest gripe when OSOTM came out at the time, that there was only one real rocker (LWTG) and the rest of the record was so mellow/drowsy LOL easily making it her most sleepy and adult contemporary record to date.
IYD just may be Stevies' most rock album to date.

Uh, no. FM77 conveniently didn't know the track names or numbers, that is, until he/she remembered. There was someone else who stated as a fact that "New Orleans" was Track 5. I forget the name of the person... but I think it had "Rhiannon" in it. FM77 definitely did not convey any specific information about track numbers and titles.

I like Juliet. And Alice.

Also, it sounds like something that would have fit beautifully on a Eurythmics album.

.
.
Seriously, the whole hearing random sentences people say and going "What a Fantastic idea for a song" worked ONCE... For If Anyone Falls. Enough already.

Hi Guys,
Just to comment on the songwritng topic.. New Orleans is neither written with Dave OR Mike, it's actually co-written with Neale Heywood (he also co-wrote "Come" was on SYW). I hope that helps!

Oh, that's a great tidbit. I remember during Lindsey's tour when he said that Neale was always someone he would listen to, I wondered why he didn't mention having written with him.

Yeah, it has a very gin-soaked quality to it, which adds to the song's charm; and I think she & Dave sound great together. The lyrics do sound a bit simple, but I wonder if maybe that's the point. But I'd really have to hear the whole song to make a more definitive judgment. :)

I agree..it sounds like they are going for maybe a 1950s country western vibe like Kitty Wells and Red Foley .. the duets she must have sung with A.J. Nicks when she was a tyke..I like it better than the version on Dave 's album from this snippet.

Although it's not a TON of information, here's some thoughts on the tracks I heard at Sunset Sessions last month.

1. Secret Love - we all know this one, duh.

2. For What It's Worth - I described as "folksy-sounding"

3. In Your Dreams - medium to high tempo song

4. Wide Sargasso Sea - didn't hear that one

5. New Orleans - didn't hear that one

6. Moonlight (A Vampire's Dream) - I wrote, "centered around piano, awesome song, medium tempo."

7. Annabel Lee -medium tempo, there's a part where she sings "Bright Eyes" in this song and I loved that part.

8. Soldier's Angel - slow, serious tempo. Lindsey on guitar and harmonies.

9. Everybody Loves You - didn't hear this one

10. Ghosts Are Gone -high tempo song. Stevie shot her arms up when it started in excitement.

11. You May Be The One - didn't hear that one

12. Italian Summer - slow/medium tempo, I wrote, "sounds like a movie song - high production" Stevie asked, "are you feeling Italian yet?" when it ended. :)

13. Cheaper Than Free - saw the video for this one. It's documentary style. Reese Witherspoon is in it. Looks like it was shot at Stevie's house.

Most likely the original "Lady From The Mountain "part of the song ..people either love it or not.

I wasn't familiar at all with LFTM when I heard "Moonlight" --when she said it was inspired by the movie I assumed it was a new song. Maybe after listening with the knowledge that is a "vault" song I might appreciate it more. I liked it the more I listened to it but there were still other songs I preferred.

I am interested to see what songs everyone respond to once they hear the record in its entirety.

Despite some of our friendly jabs towards CTF - and yeah, it might be the "Jane" or "That Made Me Stronger" or even "Silver Girl" on this record for some lyrically - the music and singing are not what I have problems with. Otherwise, I strongly suspect that IYD will be a much better, well rounded and more cohesive album than TISL. And for me, that's saying a lot. Because I loved TISL  when it was released, and it's still one of my favorite Stevie Nicks albums - easily in my top 3 or 4 depending on my mood. But I have a strong feeling IYD will beat it down a peg.:)

I remember Dave commenting (it may have been on twitter) that they going out of the box and mentioned 'Missionary Man' as an example. I could be wrong,it was sometime last fall.

Sure, the lyrics to "Cheaper Than Free" leave quite a bit to be desired, and I didn't care for the snippet at first. But I have to admit, what we have heard has grown on me. It sounds raw, broken down, and full of genuine emotion.

And I think it sounds a lot, musically, like "Insider."

Another misheard lyric is in Italian Summer. People have been quoting her as singing, "I remember it all/You just have to fall..." The actual lyric is, "I remember it all/You just had to fall..." Listen carefully and watch her sweet little mouth. It's "had."

Completely changes the meaning of the song once I figured that out. "You just had to fall..." What is she talking about? It's something she remembers, but is it someone falling as in falling from grace shamefully or tragically? Or more like falling for someone...falling for her?

Man. Gooseflesh every time!

The question was if this was a chorus or bridge that was played in the snippet---I'm not sure if it's a chorus or a bridge (it sounds more like a chorus but Stevie's songs are not structured like traditional pop songs---they are poems set to music)--I just remember the song building like this at the end. It's a pretty long song. I was not enamored with this song when I heard it.

TrueFaith77

I really hope Cheaper Than Free sounds better than the snippet we heard a while ago. The lyrics sounded like such hackneyed rubbish. To be honest I had hoped it wouldn't be on the album.

Well... we only heard the lyrics that Dave wrote.

There is no way Cheaper then Free can be saved by the rest of the song when it contains the lyrics "whats deeper then a deep well" and "Whats Faster then a FAst Car" Reese Witherspoon should be punched in the face for inspiring this song. Why was it no sufficient to just have this song on Daves album. Why is this bumping undoubtably a MUCH more deserving song.

well, regardless...

I have listened to that snippet a lot and I really like it. It's no where near as cheesy at most of the other songs we've gotten from stevie in the last 20 years. It's a good heartfealt song, and they sound great together in my opinion.

They sound awful together in my opinion. His voice is profoundly unpleasant.

She did say she felt the lyrics were sort of Beatle-esque and once she said that I kind of got it. I at least appreciated it more. If John Lennon wrote a lyric like that, no one would complain, right?

I don't think you could say that to John Lennon! ;)

Yes. Faster than a fast car? Deeper than a deep well? That's redundantly redundant.

I guess I just don't get it. Everyone has a right to there opinion, but at least those lyrics are coherent. I mean as someone who remembers when Rumours came out and has followed her career over the past thirty something years, I think those lyrics are fine. At least it's not pieced togother dribble. It amazes me what people latch on too and hate. Then again, there are people on this board who cannot believe I hate Blue Denim and Two Kinds of Love or Street Angel. To each his own, but I think that song has a great chance of getting her and Dave some very positive attention.

Me, too. How dare anybody comment or question someone else's art. That's why we have the word "art" and don't use the word "structure" instead. If you don't like the art as the artist created it, then don't look/listen. That conversation in Destiny Rules still really bothers me, because I really do respect Lindsey on so many levels, but it's not his place to comment in that way.

Unless he wrote an additional bridge and melody line with added lyrics. I would highly doubt so. Stevie had the whole song written, lifted lines from Poe's Annabel Lee, inserting a few of her own choice word preferences. Came up with the chord structure and melody. Dave and Glen will get their credit from arranging and producer credits. Coming up with a minuet, is all embellishment and arrangement, that is in the musician/music producers role. But anything is possible. Stevie did give writing credit to Roy Bitten on Kind Of Woman, solely based because she was blown away by his piano break down/instrumental in the middle. So, as with all the speculative nature of stuff being thrown around these days. We shall see.

HEY H-NYC HOWS THE LAZER SURGERY GOIN,

:wavey:

DavidMn ; hope you have a great time @ Boston.

wow, no reaction from this side of the Pond, whatsoever, must be on the blacklist, (ie, do not acknowledge),

Slightly difficult when you live in ENGLAND where Stevie DOES NOT tour. I have a ticket to Hard Rock Calling, of course. Incidentally, I'm travelling 200 miles to London this weekend to see Clare Maguire, and last summer I followed Tori Amos on tour across Europe. So don't say that we don't "get out there". It's difficult when there is nothing to get out there for!

please,

I was not attacking the Euros', ie, the brits, etc,

I was trying to illicit a response from the priviliged majority over here on this side of the Pond,

seems that all they do is hang around here in their Underalls / Depends all day,

(try stepping outside for some fresh air once in a while, or hitting the road to see Stevie, or some other musician live, and pay the price of admission),

totally underwhelmed, that there was no "north american" response to my original posting.....

:)

g,

Legally, she wouldn't need to. His work is in the public domain, so anyone is free to use it.

The question is whether she will at least credit him in the liner notes.

I think she will.

You are not alone. Juliet was one of my favorites when the album came out! I was fortunate to see her perform it live, just before it was dropped from her set. I don't understand the almost universal disdain for the song!

I had a dream the other night she did this live - like, recently. It was really vivid. And weird. She was jumping up & down while singing it in my dream.

Juliet is one of the few good songs from that album.

But when they were good...they were really good...really good strangers

Just thought that line was great.

I love that line too.

I like most of the songs on TOSOTM. The only ones I really despise are Cry Wolf and Two Kinds of Love.

Agreed. I especially love DTBTIC.

It's April 3rd. The album drops on May 3rd. Wonder when things are going really going to take off. We are waiting on a suprise from Steve, coming soon. I hope soon doesn't mean May 2nd. Is it the video, a new single, an itunes presale complete with extra track. I hope we find out this week.

Good lord!!!!!!!!

The best line is-----

Well, let the crisis become a bridge....
And cross that bridge tomorrow---
Well, and let the time that goes between- baby-
Well, let it let go of the sorrow!!!"

I like Cry Wolf... though most of that album hasn't aged well, "dated" doesn't even begin to cover it :distress:

The extra track really wouldn't be a surprise since they had 14 songs cut.

Right, but the surprise might be what the extra song is.

I refuse to keep up with who co~wrote what in these threads, and will wait for the CD to come out with the credits. So, I'm hoping that the vault song (that Stevie wrote over Mike Campbell's music that they dusted off and he re~worked the music a bit, as Stevie talked about in an interview last year) is the 14th track. And I hope it's "You Like Me".

Stevie specifically said they dug out an old song of hers & Mike's, and that he made it even better now. But that doesn't seem to line up with the official track listing and what we know about when the songs were written. There doesn't seem to be grounds for any of the songs to be this SN/MC Vault song that Stevie talked about. Unless "Ghosts Are Gone" is very old.

.

What is your problem?? Not all of us are lucky enough to live in places where Stevie actually tours. This is really quite offensive to those of us who would see her if at all possible but for working/financial reasons are excluded from this because of where she plays.

The biggest surprise and promotional vehicle is the IYD trailer. And as far as the Secret Love video, I'm personally not anticipating that with much excitement anymore, exp. after seeing the far more exciting teaser for the album. When it drops, sure I will be happy, but mentally I've moved beyond SL - we've digested the song for almost 3 months - I want to hear an entire new track, which I'd be surprised if they released before the album drops. Back in the day of real physical singles, we would of already had 2 new tracks with the coveted B-side.

Over the next 4 weeks I expect, a steady climb in print interviews - where Stevie divulges even more detailed information about the record. The O Show (I'm keeping my expectations for this low, as not to be too disappointed) , The SL video, slow leaks of additional new publicity photo's, and possibly promotional streaming of the full album about a week before May 3rd. But I think the real kick-off will begin the week of May 3rd and after.

If For What It's Worth is a Mike Campbell song, it is very good and it sounds like an old song. I have described it as alt-country. Ghosts is a rocker but I didn't love it.

For What it's Worth is Dave and the critics favorite I think.

It liked it very very much--after my initial listening of the whole record I liked FWIW, IYD and a song towards the end of the disk that I could only remember a few lyrics at the end of the chorus---I think it's You May Be The One---I LOVED that song if it's the one that has the angel lyrics no one could source.

well, whatever is the best, when they do polls on this thing, people 95% of the time vote for the songs Stevie wrote herself or the ones she says are her favorites.
