Assuming this is indeed the SL video...
I have nothing against Dave, but all those the shots of him really break up the Stevie mood a bit too much for my taste.

Thank you to whomever posted this video. I was pretty vocal about disliking this track but loving the demo. Now, especially after hearing this live at two seperate concerts, I have grown to enjoy this song.

This sure doesn't look like an official video, and I'm hoping that it's not. It looks to me like a bunch of shots pulled together from the album trailer footage, and I'm hoping that it is. Good possibility, actually - why debut the actual video at the concerts, where the rest of the world can't enjoy it? The people at the concerts are already fans - why would they play the video just at the shows and keep it from people who could potentially be new fans? It's beyond me.
Also, what is going on with Stevie's new accent on her live versions of this song? Trying something new?
"But I don't want to be leaving you here/I can't go up in that room alone" - it's almost hard to bear!
I'm not hatin'. I'm just sayin'.

Thanks for posting this.
I don't like the choppiness of it at all. I know that can be typical theses days for videos, but I can't stand things like that. So many cool things to see, but they don't give you a chance to see any of it, really. If that is the official video, I hope all the other videos are not quick and choppy snippets like this. I could not sit and watch several videos in a row like that. It would drive me crazy.
I don't get the circus stuff, or that crazy haired doll in the cage. Or am I not seeing correctly because it goes so fast? Stevie looks great, from the quick glimpses we get. Not sure about her putting her hands to her head as if signaling sleep at one point, didn't seem to go with the lyrics. idk. It was different, that's for sure.
Still excited about the cd though. And this was interesting to see.

Have to agree with Ghosty on this one. I hope it's not the official video either.. I'll be freeze-framing it through out trying to better see all the cool stuff in it.

To tell the truth going by the trailer most of the videos appear to have odd or campy elements.I mean people jumping in a swimming pool for Wide Sargasso Sea..which promises to be an awesome rock song ..anyway the music is really what matters,

Why wouldn't this be the official video? To me, it is.
I like it. I don't like the shots of Dave in front of the white backdrop. Doesn't fit.
I might get sick of the imagery of this album soon. :distress:

Yeah...love Dave. But this isn't Dave's album or even a Eurythmics album. I guess we saw a lot of Sheryl in the Sorceror video, so that gave him carte blanche to appear here, but it does feel pretty invasive and out of place.

I hope this isn't official video for Secret Love. It doesn't fit. I don't like it for that. And he uses reverse wayyyyyy too much. I hope he just made this for Stevie so she could use it as a backdrop for the song.

The shots of Dave on the white background are way too distinct from everything else in the video, they totally kill any flow it would have.
IMO, the video would be a lot more solid if Dave was in it a LITTLE less in general, and also if the shots he WAS in matched the scenery/mood of the others. He stands out way too much and it's distracting.

I think they did what they could ..even though they did not need to ... not everything in life is and will be exactly as you want it
I think it is the "official" video for "Secret Love". Fits with the rest of the videos we've seen on the trailer. Perhaps the only exposure the video is going to get is on this tour and her solo tour later this year, with the exception of it being released on the documentary.

I get ultra-sick of all the damned slow-motion.
Those are always the worst bits of all her earlier videos -- from Stand Back to I Can't Wait to Rooms on Fire. It's a stupidly overused technique.

Love you Stevie!

I don't think we can FULLY judge it yet, as the timing is off with the live performance happening as it's being played. It'll probably be better if we ever see it as it's supposed to be shown, like on VH1 or something.
I thought it was pretty good for what we can see of it now. I have no problem with Dave being in it. We all know he had a lot to do with the album, AND getting the dang thing DONE. Had it been Stevie herself doing it, we'de have a much longer wait.

RIGHT? It's like spoiled children who are like, "Gimme my present! Gimme my present!" and after opening, they toss it aside and say, "It's not what I wanted!"
I personally like what I've seen. Yes there are quick cuts, but that is NOT a new concept, especially in this day & age. Yes there is a lot of Dave, but let's remember that this is HIS project too. He's a big part of it. He co-wrote 7 of these songs for goodness sake.
Can't wait to see the real thing!

It does look super pretty, although, I have no idea how it's linked to the lyrics in the song.

I agree. I think it may be footage from the video edited together into a visual for the live show, but not the actual music video edit itself.

There's no doubt in my mind this is the official video. We've known all along it was going to be a low budget affair which mainly implemented footage from the documentary. I really don't know what there's to dislike about the video... it seems very atmospheric, beautiful, and Stevie looks sexier than ever!
Regarding Dave being in there a lot... he's got nowhere near as much screen time as Stevie. Not that he wouldn't deserve it... he cowrote half the songs on the album, played most of the instruments, and produced the entire work. He probably did more actual WORK on the album than Stevie herself did. On top of that, he's been the sole person in the world promoting the album, and he's dropped tidbits to us fans for over a year now. Not to mention it was Dave's idea to make the documentary and music videos. So Dave absolutely deserves a prominent role in Stevie's videos for this album, in my opinion.

I think it's okay as far as music videos go. Aren't they kinda passe? I agree that the shots of Dave playing the guitar against the white background don't really fit the rest of the video, but the rest of it is fine. But I don't get terribly worked up about music videos to begin with.

Exactly. Neither MTV nor VH1 have played music videos for many years. Music videos are nearly as outmoded as cassette tapes. And much like you, a music video just doesn't mean squat to me anymore. I'm glad we have one (I'll take anything new from Stevie!), but I would feel no sadness at all if we didn't get one in the first place. It's all about the music for me...

that's how it feels to me, like a backdrop, I also can't see her releasing her video without singing a lot in it, but who knows
all the reverses in it and stuff feels like he did it to take up time or to just fill in a space

I think it's a mashup pulling images and segments from the different scenes they filmed... And I like it!. I like all the weirdness of things you see... makes you think, challenges you to figure out what the meaning is... I think Dave should definitely be in it... He's so well associated with Nicks on this, it would seem weird not to include him somehow...
I think we'll see a more cohesive video for Secret Love when it makes it's debut.
Not sure I'd classify any of this a "low budget" film crews aren't cheap!

I agree that they no longer matter in terms of TV, but they still seem to matter in terms of spreading buzz on the Internet. A good video is going to be tweeted and posted on Facebook and such, drawing hits on YouTube, etc.

This, plus I think I'll suspend any kind of critique until I see the video presented in synch with the song track, as intended, as Jamie pointed out. Also, part of some people's perception could be somewhat skewed after seeing the seductively stunning "sizzle reel" unveil friday:shrug:. It's like we got high on crack, and we're now strung out, waiting for our next unreachable fix.

I disagree. I think music videos are more important now than they ever were? Why? Because back in the day, to see a music video you had to wait for it to come on MTV or VH1 or you had to own it on VHS. And if you were an artist, the only way you got people to see your video was if they happened to be watching a channel that it aired on. Now we have access to any music video at the tip of our fingers. People can watch it when they want and how many times they want and they can choose to share it with others. If it isn't good, it gets lost, but if it kicks ass it can spread like wildfire. Not to mention you can now make more money off of music videos. Anytime someone views your video, it is more money in the bank for you. Not to mention there are still channels that play music videos. MTV and VH1 themselves barely play any music videos, but their alternate channels such as MTVHits and VH1 Classic play a constant stream of music videos 24/7.
As for this music video, I think the distance, poor quality, and it not being in sync make it difficult to judge this video. Therefore, I am reserving my judgement for when I actually see the video. :)

I watched the first 10 seconds of this video, but decided to not watch anymore. Because like John said, I'm gonna reserve my judgement for the time when I get to watch the whole video in good quality & in when it's nicely in sync. I believe it will be really good, love the imagery & vibes that Dave has pulled out of the hat so far....& I would love anything Stevie did ♥

Very sharp assessment, I agree totally. Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo, YouTube (esp.YT) etc., have made the music video format relevant & fashionable again. Arguably , it could be more important now than ever to compete and get noticed in a big way for an artist. I've always said after Gypsy, Stevie never really fully capitalized or peaked in the video format on her wondrous image or rich imagery that her music, voice and lyrics evoke. Dave keenly knew what he had in an artist like Stevie Nicks, and it seems like they used what resources they could to wisely give Stevie fans as thrilling ride as possible.
