Yep, just a few lines, and it's already in my TOP Stevie songs of ALL~TIME!

I cried for an hour after Babe, it was so sweet, it broke my heart, leaving me wondering why we aren't all loving to each other all of the time. Same with Sea Biscuit, when Tobey said you don't throw away something just because it's old or broken. Same with Brokeback Mountain, after Heath's daughter leaves at the end, and he's alone and the camera pans to Jake's shirt still there in his presence. Sorry, I guess I'm a sucker for those kinds of things.

Stevie's voice in those two lines... THAT NOTE... does the same thing to me. My dog Dino is wondering what's wrong, I start crying at a moment's notice, remembering that song.

Thanks, Stevie, for reminding me to FEEL those emotions, and not cut them off.

I just noticed that in the video that they are all standing under what appears to be a dead tree- starkly denuded in contrast to the lush surroundings. Do you think that was unintentional, or was it a way of underscoring the "I died inside without you" longing? I'd hate to think that they killed a tree for this video!

Im glad Im not the only one who feels these things...Stevie can sing one word and it can tear right thru me to a feeling so deep inside me. But i dont talk about stuff like this cuase when i do i just usually get odd looks....

"She awakens things...that he says he thought were dead"

Your kidding! I thought that was obvious and one of the *many* reasons people were lured into Stevie. That *tear* or crack in her voice can slay me in a moment. When the Enchanted box set was released, and I heard Reconsider Me for the 1st time...I melted. Her voice in the opening verse, hadn't heard vocals like that, well since RAL.:)
But yea, her voice on this new record is giving me goosebumps, so restrained, controlled and understated on Moonlight. She's sounds all ablaze on Wide Sargasso Sea! And yes, I love that note she carries at the end of Italian Summer:thumbsup: Dave & Glen really captured and recorded Stevie's voice better than anyone I can remember in the last 10-15 years! Im amazed, Truly.

It's "fall"...the song is stunning and so different musically from anything she has ever done. It belongs in a movie. Just beautiful.

I noticed that too. I wasn't sure if they edited the tree that way or if it's natural and really there at all. I do know you can have lushness down here (FL) and still have a leafless tree every so often in winter amidst everything so maybe it's just like that in her video.

They did a lot of the dreamscape video segments after the record was recorded. Remember when Dave was tweeting late Oct thru early Dec. that he was on his way to Stevie's for more performance filming a few times. Right around that timeframe, he also said he filmed the Cheaper Than Free video. I'm thinking that Italian Summer was filmed in late fall/early winter time, which explains the barren tree.

YES! YES! YES! I'm so happy for this thread...I feel EXACTLY the same way...
and for the record...sounded like "call" to me...which would tie it in to "Sara" in most Stevie like way....but I've only watched it twice so far...

"You just had to YOU"???
I hear "fall", which to me makes sense. She remembered it all, it was so easy to fall in love, that all she had to do was "fall".

I guess last night I was wanting to post some LOVE for that snippet of the song, which was getting the "dorky/corny" backlask (already!). But my eyes were truly tear~ing up all evening, remembering Stevie and that song. And the whole preview, as well.

I thought it was "call", too. But what's weird is that it is this "big romantic song" of Stevie's, but, for me, the small bit we hear is actually heart~breaking. Another one of those, "We can't be together" songs???

Whatever it is, it made me FEEL so strongly, and reminded me to EMBRACE love again. Thank you, Stevie.

Some trees drop their leaves in late summer before the chill comes in. If it were dead there wouldn't be what looks like empty seed pods in the high branches. Then again I could be totally wrong. I like the effect of seeing Stevie and the players through the branches as the camera pans away.

It's definitely a movie song. I can tell from just the snippet.

I noticed that too. It could be that they plucked the leaves off in order to get the shot and/or to underscore the point. But I thought I saw buds on the tree so I don't think it's dead.

Only a horticulturalist from California would know the answer to this one.

For some reason I think of Space Needle with this song. I wonder if any lyrics match?

Stevie said she wrote this during her trip to Ravello...she stayed in a stunning villa/hotel and the song is a love song in a way to Italy. The imagery of storms, thunder rolling in the sky and the vast blue ocean...she hand wrote the lyrics and left them for the owner of the villa and said "keep this---it's going to make this place very famous". (The hotel is already pretty famous--very well known). She had a fabulous room that looked out to the sea.
