Not to burst your bubble but she didn't do any handshakes at the end of Edge last night. I was very surprised but she just walked the stage and waved at everyone. Maybe she will change it up though.

understood, judging by the stage set-up in Tampa it does not look good for the shaking of the hand ...
however; I will be rushing the stage ...... ......

OMG!! Show is incredible; she's really selling it tonight because it's MSG! The boots are back (the short ones with the high heel) and no sausage casing legwarmers! And you guys are going to freak over the Secret Love video; it's like the Moonlight video but not as dark. Very lush is how I'd describe it. Can't wait for the videos from this show- she's really into this tour.

Fall From Grace - Now that I know it's about Lindsey during The Dance, it really was even more intense for me. Great opener.
Secret Love - Really enjoy this live. I could see it becoming something of a sing-a-long. Really annoyed at the loss of "salvation"... she has lots of lyric flubs this concert on other songs, but for some reason this just seems to be the way she does it live. *re: the video. Started to watch it but saw it was just the same Dave Stewart nonsense (with lots of Dave Stewart in it) and I stopped watching.
If Anyone Falls - Always lovely.
Dreams - The crowd knew this one and was happy to hear it. I think it just sounds so much better when the Mac does it. More rockin'.
Sorcerer - I think I feel like this had more swing to it in other performances, BUT she introduced it as one of the Lady from the Mountain trilogy, and she was like: "This is part... something (as if she were gonna say part 2 of the trilogy but didn't know which one it was )
Gold Dust Woman - brought the house down. really cool. the gdw wail was interesting this time, similar pose as her Unleashed ending on Silver Springs and not a long shriek but more like the wail on a roller coaster. interesting. but not, i'd say, as effective.
Stand Back - At the end Stevie was "so into her dance" that she totally missed her cue to do the final "STAND BACK!" And then it got worse. She ran to the microphone to explain--and when she did, she tried to cue the audience to say: "STAND BACK!" but everyone looked like: huh?! cuz they were mostly rod fans (big time).
Rhiannon - Really epically beautiful tonight. I really enjoyed the whole piano opening and everything and the ending was wow for the crowd of Rod fans I think. Just really made me feel connected to Stevie's Rhiannon mythology.
Landslide - I'm growing to not be as negative toward Waddy as I was in the past, but I just don't think he was up to it tonight on this one. After seeing the Mac perform this three times last year, just wasn't up to snuff. Maybe it was cuz of my crappy seat, but first time I didn't tear up during the song. Oh and she sang part of it in a way I've never heard before, was really pretty. I'll try to think of what the line was.
Edge of Seventeen - OK. So I said I had crappy seats right. So out of respect for all the ancient Rod fans sitting around and behind me, I sat down for the entire show (which I've never done at any concert in my entire life). But I was saving up good graces so that I could rock out to EO17. Shortly after I was rocking out I feel a hand grab my arm. I turned around and the lady next to me pointed to a lady a few rows behind (surely enough on stadium seating to not be overly blocked by me. I'm a dwarf). Anyway, she says: "SIT DOWN!!!!" And I was about to go jumping over the seats to beat her face in, but then I didn't. I just turned around and kept dancing, acting as if nothing had happened, but it really killed my buzz. People are crazy; she didn't care. The big screen was right by us and easily seen. She just wanted to complain. Why go to a rock concert if you don't want people to stand?! Anyway, my dancing must have been really noticeable cuz I also saw people on the floor seats looking up at me and pointing. I believe Stevie saw me. I don't think she did. I just really do believe.
Rock and Roll - Best part of the evening. NO ROCK AND ROLL.
Love Is - I really like the album version of this song, I do. But this live version is transfixing and very touching. I love it and it is superior to the album version by a lot. I wish we could get a definitive live cut of it. It can also replace How Still My Love in the set.
ROD STEWART
Two Notes:
-Rod's set up was dazzling. The hot musicians and back up singers in suits or blazing red dresses against the white stage and white instruments and the screen behind him with colorful graphics and--the key--a big screen above them instead of just one to the side showing the actual action on stage (it encourages more standing!).
-With the exception of that song about crying while someone lies to you--on which he sounded GREAT--he never sang. I barely heard him. He made Stevie sound like Beyonce.
THE DUETS
Passion - Very Stevie-ish, similar in tone and theme as aspects of Fall From Grace. Would have preferred harmonizing to the trade-off on verses/chorus. Kind of a mess. He. Does. Not. Rehearse. BUT fun.
Young Turks - Feel similarly about this one. Fun but a trainwreck. Though this one had some backing harmonies from Stevie, which was the best Rod sounded all night (until that one song) and she sings with the hot black back up chicks and they all crowded round her and all four (three back up singers AND stevie) got down dancing. THAT was the visual of the evening--the Stevie visual of MY Dreams. I wish Dave Stewart would take note.

Oh nooooo..... I just want to give Stevie a huge hug after going through something like that. If it was a Stevie solo show, there would be no problem with us knowing to shout "Stand Back!" but when half or more of the audience is for Rod, that could cause issues.
It would be like if Stevie expected the whole audience to sing "Rhiiiiiaaaaannnon" during the song.
Sorry about the sitting down thing, that really sucks. It is so hard to sit during a Stevie concert.
Thanks for the play by play for the songs.

I'm home and I've started to upload video. Going to take awhile, but at least try to get one or two up tonight if the you tube gods are with me.
I have a wonderful time and I"m really happy I went. Stevie definitely was really in hig spirits and truly made me feel like she wanted to be no other place than on stage singing to us.
I'm going add on the comments.
I was trying so hard to capture the video that the performance was lost on me. But I know I was hoping to heard "salvation", but no.....it was still a good performance and she said something like, " a new song...finally...I know!" The video I hope to post doesn't give the audio justice. She sounded so GOOD on this and really on everything.
Dreams - The crowd knew this one and was happy to hear it. I think it just sounds so much better when the Mac does it. More rockin'.
I know what you mean. It just seemed very routine. I was hoping she would go up on the "What you had, what you lost" after the second verse, but she didn't. And I know what you mean about the FM thing. As much as Waddy nails it, he's just not Lindsey.
Gold Dust Woman - brought the house down. really cool. the gdw wail was interesting this time, similar pose as her Unleashed ending on Silver Springs and not a long shriek but more like the wail on a roller coaster. interesting. but not, i'd say, as effective.
I enjoyed this. I really like the sound of Waddys guitar playing on this just as much as when its done by FM. I got some video of the wails hopefully.
A couple of high kicks here got the crowd going too. I was so darn happy to see that in her cute ankle boots. You knew who the Stevie fans were. They were the ones standing and cheering. I'm with you on the Rod fans. There we A LOT! But I was happy to see that the arena mostly filled when Stevie came on.
To me this song is Stevie and Lindsey's. Bu she's probably perfomed it more solo in the past 10 years than with FM. Or at least close, so she probably has somewhat disassociated it as a FM song. She seemed kind of somber introducing it and i was happy to not have to have another Glee reference. She dedicated the song to the MSG audience.
But I actually did almost tear up cause I haven't been to a show where she had the pics of her family and her younger self in the background. I know it's been aound for 4 years now, but it was my first time seeing it and i just felt that it was so special to share somethign pretty personal with us.
I'm so happy you stood up to the blue hair specials and fought for your right to rock out. I ended up sitting on the top of my chair for a good chunk of the show cause every one around me was sitting. Total buzzkill. I was surrounded by Rod fans. But they were enjoying Stevie, just not the diehard chiffonheads we are.
Anyway, EO17...I love this song, I love this song live, I love the surge of energy that erupts when you hear this. Last year when i was at stage-gate at the Taj Mahal, I missed out on enjoying this, so on some level I was glad there wasnt an edge walk that i missed out on again. She really rocked out to this at the end and got a huge ovation. More video on that too hopefully.
Love Is - I really like the album version of this song, I do. But this live version is transfixing and very touching. I love it and it is superior to the album version by a lot. I wish we could get a definitive live cut of it. It can also replace How Still My Love in the set.
Again, here I about teared up again. Shout ut to Dani cause I thought of her at that moment. She sang that song so tenderly and with so much care. I just was overwhelmend with feeling the emotion that has to be behind that song...side note...has it ever been confirmed exactly who that's about?
She ended with the pray for the world thing, which didn't bother me one bit. Thought it was just a little spirtual message. No mention of her new album coming out in May and she didn't introduce the band, which i thought was odd. But maybe the double bill thing left no time for that.
ROD STEWART
Two Notes:
-Rod's set up was dazzling. The hot musicians and back up singers in suits or blazing red dresses against the white stage and white instruments and the screen behind him with colorful graphics and--the key--a big screen above them instead of just one to the side showing the actual action on stage (it encourages more standing!).
I LOVED his stage. It was so bright and just drew you in. And you could SEE up there. Ok, so his band...thought his drummers rocked and loved the girls on the saxophone and trumpet.
Now the fringed mini numbers and synchronized girlie dancing and singing...can I just say I was channeling Ally McBeal a little? I swear it reminded me of some of thse bar scenes. HEHE.
-With the exception of that song about crying while someone lies to you--on which he sounded GREAT--he never sang. I barely heard him. He made Stevie sound like Beyonce.
I'm not a Rod fan by any means. I'd never go see him by himself, I usually turn his stuff off when it comes on the radio and I find him rather full of himself. Having said all that, he is very entertaining and on a scale of 1-10 his stage performance is about a 10. Just full of energy and vigor. Unlike you know the past few years. By the end of the show I was enjoying myself....a lot...didn't think I would. I agree that the singing...not so much...it was more of the show that was entertaining.
THE DUETS
Passion - Very Stevie-ish, similar in tone and theme as aspects of Fall From Grace. Would have preferred harmonizing to the trade-off on verses/chorus. Kind of a mess. He. Does. Not. Rehearse. BUT fun.
I had forgotten this song even existed to the mention of Stevie singing with him surfaced in ATL. Not a vocal performance for the books, but she really did look like she was having fun singing and dancing up there. Sooo cute. I have some pics to post. But can we say, the chemistry (really lack thereof) between the two is so astounding. It's almost like being in 3rd grade where you have to hold the hand of someone of the opposite sex and you think the world is going to end. Guess who that made me miss her on stage with.
I totally agree. I said it last night. The way she looks, dances, leans in and out with the girls....ug..it made her look like it was 1977 all over again. Half her age....seriously...
Anyway, I had a blast and now of course I need to figure out how to see her solo in May.
I promise...videos and pics to come!!!

This was an awesome show!!! I have a bunch of pictures and video that I am uploading now. I will post them soon.
I couldnt really get into Rod. Thankfully the beer swilling drunk next to me got up to use the bathroom halfway thru Rod's set and I followed him out of the aisle and left! I did video both duets though.

I'm too tipsy/exhausted to write anything coherent, but just wanted to note how amazing that was! My first Stevie concert, and since I was going with two friends who were less familiar I was kind of nervous (you know, wanting them to love our girl as much as I do). But it was fantastic! She really shined in her set, and her voice was fantastic. My friends were definitely impressed and got really into it.
I do think the duets were weaker--I hadn't realized how different their performance styles were until that point. She looked a little awkward, trying to fit in his his very physical style. She got through it, though. Great performance over all!

I just got back and not to over-use the word but it was AWESOME! :D
Stevie REALLY rocked "Young Turks" and "Love is" was beautiful.
Total heresy, I know - But i.m.o. Love is works even BETTER than
Beauty and the Beast, and is just as beautiful in concert. And I
think she put her heart into it just as much. It seems to me to be
an even more-fitting ending because it seems a very positive note to
end the whole show on.
No Edge Walk - I think some of the people sitting up-front may have
been very disappointed - I heard that those seats were a thousand dollars
a pop! She just walked around to each side of the stage and waved and smiled.
But - there was ONE little group in REALLY sucky seats, towards the left side of
the stage, at the point where the seats are almost beginning to curve behind the
stage itself - Stevie made a special effort to walk right over to them and wave right
at them directly - I really respected that - "Typical Stevieness" - considerate of all
of her fans - not wanting any of them to feel "left out."
Overall, one of the best Stevie show's I've been to!

Why the use of so many other people wearing her former clothes? Why couldn't she be in her stuff all throughout the video like that? I'm sure she has similar in her size she's had made today. All in all a beautiful video it looks.

Thank you for recording this! :blob2::blob2::blob1::blob1:
I tend to agree though with what was said before, I think there is too much Dave in this video. It is a Stevie song, not a Stevie and Dave song for crying out loud. :distress:
But I digress. All in all, I am VERY HAPPY we got a brand new video for a single. It just needs to be officially released already. (shaking my head in pure disappointment in WB for not getting this released before this concert started).

Again, here I about teared up again. Shout ut to Dani cause I thought of her at that moment. She sang that song so tenderly and with so much care. I just was overwhelmend with feeling the emotion that has to be behind that song...side note...has it ever been confirmed exactly who that's about?
I'm glad you thought of me! :) You can't really understand how powerful "Love Is" in live performances until you've seen it yourself so I'm glad you got the chance. Hearing "Love Is" again is pretty much the only reason I'm considering going to the Seattle show. But knowing that people weren't able to stand at the stage/there was no Edge walk... I'm better off going to the renowned local steakhouses during her stay in Seattle if I want a Stevie experience worth my money .

Watch it now and watch it fast. I already got a not so much a warning, warning from You Tube that I might be violating something owned by Sony. (Warners?)
Has anyone else gotten this type of message? There was NOTHING posted in the arena or on the tix about not taking pictures. In fact, I didn't see 1 person say anything about it.
Oh well, hopefully most will see it in the event it gets pulled.

This was my 2nd time hearing it. It was so much better this time for me, but the soundsystem of MSG probably blows the arena in atlantic city to pieces.
If you can go, do it. I understand the meaning behind experiencing the edge walk. I was denied last summer, but I'm hopeful I'll get there one day. I bet by the time the show gets out West it will be a lot more cohesive too!

I get that message too on some of my live recorded stuff. Nothing ever happened and it is still on my YouTube channel. I think there is software that compares musical signatures of songs and sometimes it matches stuff they have in their database. I think as microphones continue to improve on cameras for video recoding in a live venue, this message might be seen more often. My warnings were "matched third party content" for songs I recorded from the AC show this past Aug. 2010. They never got yanked. I think someone at YouTube then verifies that it is a live recording with audience noise, etc.. and not a ripped MP3 or something you can buy.

No need to apologize for the quality, it was fine. I watched it and sat there in awe of just how Stevie can pull you into her own little story world that she creates up there on stage and you are spellbound and totally wrapped up in the story she is telling and forget about the worlds problems for a little while.
And she did the extended "DRAAAAAAAAGON"! Very cool. Thank you for recording this and posting. :]

Stevie was on fire last night - I thought she even sounded better than last summer's show at Atlantic City.
I was in section 228 - where eveyone - with the exception of the blond two seats in front of me and me - stood up during most of Stevie's set. I was actually asked by an usher to sit down during - gasp, Stand Back. I obliged by sitting on my armrest as I was fortunate enough to have an aisle seat and was able to do so.. the dude next to me also stretched out and was in my space.. no biggie. but too close for comfort. And, I was back up standing for Edge of 17. Like I said, this crowd sat, even for Rod, with the exception of a standing ovation for Stevie when she finished.
The girl next to the guy next to me did ask me what the name of "Love Is" because she thought it was beautiful and wanted to buy it...
When Stevie finished I went to go to the bathroom - which was way down the hall and upstairs due to remodeling going on at the arena.. and, I was able to watch the last bit of the UConn and Arizona game as they had it on at one of the concession stands.. which was cool.
I missed the first Rod song, but got back to my seat just in time for the duets which were awesome. I got to give it to Rod, his band, and his stage setup.. very, very nice.
I didn't really care for any of the t-shirts, so I ended up buying the red hoodie (2XL) since the large was too small and they didn't have any XLs.. a little big, but warm and much needed.. New York is cold, and I didn't bring a coat.. bought a key chain, and a Rod teddy bear by mistake.. I assumed it was a Stevie bear since it was with the Stevie shirts... also, I think Rod had a better selection of t-shirts, much more colorful than the blacks and browns Stevie was offering..
overall, an enjoyable evening at the Garden. Even though the crowd sat, they were nodding their heads and clapping to the music - how about the clapping when Rhiannon started... my section was digging it....
now back to reality.. hi Blackcat :wavey:

I won't repeat what was already said. It was a great show except the crowd where I was (100 sections) sat the whole concert. And stevie almost took the microphone off the stand during young turks. Rod was at the front of the stage and he gave stevie a motion to move to the front. She grabbed the microphone but then grabbed the stand and walked it to the front. :(
During this concert all I was thinking was that stevie should have a fan club and offer her fans the best seats. The fans should be in the front because she needs that energy. It's the same with rod. I'm in his fan club and I bought my tickets through it; my seats were in the 100s! Great show and I love the secret love buttons they're selling

I love the fire! Hi Keith! having had seats behind you a number of years ago, I know you to be a Stand UP guy! I want to believe Stevie will be well represented in Philly. Stevie has a solid continent here, and I don't want to be surrounded by a bunch of Rod fans firmly planted in the seats. I'm more excited for the SOLO shows! Yep, for now, back to more reality-- but not for too long!

These should be three videos if the link works. Secret Love, and the two duets. I apologize for a shaky hand. I was very distracted by the aforementioned old biddies, who had the security people on their toes. They seemed to work as a well organized team, rushing the side of the stage in the section where I was sitting, and while one was chased away, another would take her place. I found the show they were putting on to be much more entertaining than Rod's.

If she doesn't touch everyone along the front, why doesn't she at least put on her old white cape & twirl around like a faerie sprite? It would create an overwhelming visual impact.

It's Young Turks. They circle around her and she does the background "oohs" with them before she goes into trading lines with Rod on the next verse before the last chorus.

an excellent question. It bothers me tremendously that she no longer wears white for Edge of Seventeen. It seems downright unnatural at this point, since she's put on white, in some form or fashion, for this song since 1981.

Looking at all the pics I seen....and some of the best concert pics of Stevie I've seen in a long time.....I think Rods backup band puts Stevie's backup band to shame in the style department. but yes, the rod stewart stage was a model of legibility and pizazz.

It was good. But, Rod's set up was just a notch above, I thought. I liked the huge screen in the middle and the graphics on the sides.

They need to switch up their looks for each show. Otherwise everything looks the same on tour, just different venues.

Great point! That would be a lot more interesting when we're keeping tabs on the tour.

Ok. I would like to thank everyone for posting their comments, reviews, pics, and videos of the shows so far. I have watched the video of Passion and Young Turks in the Tampa, and Atlanta threads. I must say as much as I enjoyed seeing Rod & Stevie together, their interaction with one another looked a little stiff. So last night, I saw that MSG had the Passion and Young Turks videos up, one in this thread, and another video at yet another angle in a thread called" Madison Square Gardens...tomorrow". Anyway, I just couldn't help but notice the difference in Rod & Stevie's interaction with one another. They looked like they had a blast. Stevie was dancing so much more, Rod was standing next to Stevie and interacting with her more. I noticed that Rod's voice sounded stronger, he seemed to really be having a good time with Stevie. Whether it's because it was the 3rd show, and they worked out some of the awkwardness, or perhaps Rod was feeling much better, maybe it was the fact that they were at the Garden, but whatever the reason, they spruced it up and it showed in this performance. Big Time.
I love Stevie's move @ 2:02, and her little kick @ 3:32, also Rod's move @ 4:43.
Rod motioning for Stevie to move to the front of the stage with him, and Stevie not missing a beat in doing so, works really well, I also think they cut the sax solo out this time.

This performance, to me, should go down in history. I know, not everyone likes this song, but Stevie is pure, raw emotion here. As I watched this, I felt as if I were listening to a friend tell this story, in my own living room.
This made my heart bleed, but, in a good way. It was like a therapeutic experience for me.
It seems as if she was "getting real" here, if that makes sense. I am going on little sleep, and may be rambling, but, I just had to comment.

I think Rod should spend more time looking at her, connecting and trying to make it a duet. When they sing, "Once in love, you're never out of danger. One hot night, spent with a stranger . . . " their eyes should be locked. Instead he's dancing around with his portable mic and you feel the music of the song but not the meaning behind it.
I'm not saying Rod and Stevie could evoke passion on stage together, but they could generate heat and intensity in their vocals. I mean the song makes me think of involuntary emotions, desperation, instinct, loss and with the right interaction, they could convey just a fraction of that.
It would have been great to see Stevie on this song 25 years ago, she would have run circles around him. I'm not saying she's old, not at all. Her songs and FM songs are beautifully adapted to her current style and are in no way devoid of "passion" at all. BUT I'm just talking about those days when she could come on stage and take over anyone else's song, without a second thought. Ebony eyes, for instance.

I completely agree. I was at the Tahoe show last summer and thought the performance of Love Is was fine, but I was not in love with it the way others were. This is a much better performance by Stevie IMO. I don't think anyone can say she's yelling or over singing anything here...she's very subtle in her vocal delivery. Gave me goosebumps. :)

Quite honestly I don't think there is one iota of chemistry between them. I don't think they even like each other. For Stevie to look Rod in the eyes and sing "Once in love, you're never out of danger. One hot night, spent with a stranger . . . " would just make her want to HURL! She can't bring herself to do it. Brings me to the conclusion that is why she doesn't want to sing "Leather and Lace" with him. Could you imagine them singing "lovers forever, face to face"? I feel for every good duet Stevie sings, she has to feel a connection with her partner, whether it's personally or musically. And not all the COKE in the world could save them!

But to me, it's not Stevie who is averting her eyes. It's him. He's too busy being sexy (?) to even acknowledge the fact that he's actually singing the song with someone.

To be honest I don't really think Rod is paying attention what he's singing at all, just the fact that he's on stage and there's an audience out there dancing. Which is a perfectly fine approach - it's just.. kind of clashes with the whole 'duet' notion, as well as with the way Stevie performs.

You're right. He's not mindful of the words at all. With Stevie, even though Stand Back is a dance song, she still performs it like she's really looking for a little sympathy!

TISL's crap songs were:
"Too Far From Texas"
"That Made Me Stronger"
"It's Only Love"
and
"Love Changes"
"Love Is" is not part of that list and is an incredibly beautiful, life changing song. In 2001 it kicked my ass.
