Fantasy Springs: Stevie Nicks performs May 13
If you love tambourines, flowing scarves and gypsies, we've got the show for you.
Stevie Nicks (the real one, not the really good impersonator we've seen in the area), will perform May 13 at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino's Special Events Center in Indio.
Nicks performed at Fantasy Springs in February 2008 to a sold out audience. Tickets for Nicks' concert are $69, $89, $99 and $109 and go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. Tickets may be purchased in person at the Fantasy Springs Box Office, via telephone at 800-827-2946 or online at www.FantasySpringsResort.com

This came as a surprise to me. I didn't think she'd start the solo thing until July, after the overseas date in June with Rod.
I guess anything is possible, right?

Stevie is getting her crap together isn't she. She got a lot of things done before the Rod Stewart thing started. That probably took time. She's been doing the video and making a ton of decisions. Now she set on getting her later tour started. She's been a busy gal. It just goes to show me how serious she is about everything. A lot has went into this whole thing. I sorta think that making that album was the fun part.

She didn't orchestrate any of that. It's not like Stevie calls up venues herself and says: "can I play there?" That's all up to her management, promoters, record label, publicist, etc. Stevie has said herself quite a few times recently that she doesn't know exactly what her management/record label/etc has in store for her after IYD drops. Stevie did her work by recording the album... she's just kinda riding the wind, now.

Wow, that is small. Has me wondering if Stevie is starting out with some smaller venues to try out new material from IYD. To work out the kinks and get a feel of the newer songs live.
I would LOVE for her to play smaller theatre's (3-5K) all summer long or at least in some markets. Since she and Rod ignored the Denver area market, I doubt that will be the case (smaller venue) for us in Colorado though, which could very well mean another Red Rocks date! :)

I wonder how much money Stevie takes in from smaller venues after all is said and done. I know that touring is where the money is.

Unless a minor miracle happens and "In Your Dreams" becomes a runaway hit therefore increasing the size( and likely the ticket prices)of her venues the most money that she will make this year is from the "Heart and Soul" tour.

I agree. I said it as soon as she jumped on Heart & Soul bandwagon - Stevie is no dummy - she knew that this H & S tour was her meal ticket of the year AND would bankroll her record and entire year. Not saying she wont stand to make plenty of $$ on her solo IYD tour as well.

but, but, but.... nooooo! (Whines and has a fit of paranoia and makes it all about him) I really, really hope that her "Summer tour" isn't in May! Bearing in mind that this is mid-March it hardly gives people (me!) time to get the cash together for a US trip. Less than 2 months for the May 13th date.
I'm going to have a look at $ now and see what's faesiable for May though - I really want to go!
I'm hoping for July onwards and then I'll be there on my US trip! I'll schedule it around a date. Before that it will be tough. I'm still hoping for Euyropean dates of course but if there are none other than Hard Rock Calling and then no US dates later than that I'll have missed out again! This makes me nervous and I'll be watching very closely for mroe dates.

You'll be right if she does come to Melbourne, if it's at a casino here, it'll be at Crown.. All of which you'll get into except for the gaming floors - assuming your underage..
She stays at Crown Towers apparently when she's here so that'd be easy for her if it is at Crown but honestly I can't see her "not" playing Rod Laver

I saw her at Fantasy Springs in 2008. It is a small venue and the stage is not that high. I had front row right hand side, I remember it was really easy to get front row for that concert, I mean no problem at all from ticketmaster. I don't know if it was because it was in Indio but those were the easiest, cheapest tickets ever. I also remember the front row center area must have been comped to players or held for council bluff because it never became available. Ugg, I have Vegas booked for that weekend, what do you think ... concert and then roadtrip to Vegas???

Funny thing.....I use to live in Vegas toooo!!!!
K, on that alone I too will try for front roll tickets to this show this Friday when they go on sale. I've a feeling that due to it being in all places "Indio" may be why the tickets were easy to get?
When I lived in Palm Springs I won tickets to see Stevie on the radio, that too seemed easy to do!

It looks much bigger than 1000 to me. I would guesstimate that it's more in the 2500-3000 vicinity. Perhaps a date at Caesar's in Vegas is not out of the realm of possibility? I see that Caesar's will be a Celine-free zone for the entire month of May!

i'm guessing the show would be just a regular concert, not her usual caesars exclusive "dreams," if she plays caesars. she might even play the joint at hard rock. they recently renovated it and expanded the capacity to 4,000. McCartney opened it. the Indio date isn't even on Nicks Fix! Damn it! they were doing better too!

Hey guys, I'm definitely going to this show-- cleared it with my dad earlier tonight. I plan on buying my ticket right at 10AM on Friday. I really, really want to guarantee that I'm in the first 5 rows. Do you think this is easiest to do by phone or on the web? Someone give me tips-- I usually buy my tickets later on with the help of scalpers!

Web. The way I've always gotten good seats was to wait until the final week or two before the show and just search on Ticketmaster for one ticket. Ticketmaster always releases some really prime seats in the last 2 weeks up until the day of the concert. It's highly variable when they drop these choice seats, so just try often. Obviously try online the day tickets go onsale... but if you don't find what you're looking for, don't hesitate to try waiting. I believe Ticketmaster always holds blocks of very close seats for radio stations, promotional giveaways, VIPs, etc... and when they're not used, they go back into the fray. This is the way I've always gotten my Mac/Stevie tickets, and I've always wound up in the first 15 rows... and didn't have to pay a scalper to get there.

I think I'm going to try the box office for this show. Some people wait to get the best seats...in my experience, this only works for larger venues...when there are so many front row seats that you're bound to get one of you try. This is such a small venue that I don't think Ticketmaster will even sell tix for.
My advice for this show- get your tickets ASAP and try the box office if you can.
Has anyone been to this box office?

Here's the low-down on Fantasy Springs.
1. It is a small venue.
2. You can get a front row seat or a seat in the first five rows but it will be off sides.
3. The first ten rows of the center section, where Stevie will stand, is reserved for Tribal members for all shows-no matter who the artist and those seats are never put up for sale or re-sale. That section is totally roped off including right in front of the stage.
4. Even special show packages which include a hotel room start with row 11 in the center section.
5 Security is uber-tight and will not let anyone except people in the front row at the stage no matter who the artist is which we all found out the last time Stevie played there. I had an inside aisle seat in the fourth row and some fan from my row kept trying to get to the stage and they eventually threw her out-I kid you not.
6. No one but the front row got to go to the stage for Edge and the same was true this past September when I saw Don Henley there. I was in the fourth row inside aisle seat for that show too.
7. Tickets will be sold through Tickets.com and not TM and they never have ticket drops for any show, nor do scalpers (which is a good thing) get anything worthwhile for any shows, so if you want a good seat get it on Friday.
8. It doesn't matter whether you do it on-line or over the phone unless you want a certain section-meaning section C as opposed to section A. If you call the box office they can give you a seat in which ever section you want-not so on-line.
Good Luck. I'm passing. Back in the day FS was great and I can remember standing at the stage all night for Don Henley a couple of years ago then bam! I went to an REO Speedwagon concert a couple months later and they wouldn't even let the people in the front row, where I was, stand for any length of time. It was miserable and Kevin Cronin, their lead singer, was POd to say the least and started giving security what for but to no avail.

For people concerned about buying tickets in general. The whole waiting until the week of the show really DOES work. I have done it since 2003 and it works like a charm. HOWEVER, I have noticed that this does not work as well for CASINO shows. I have learned this the hard way with Stevie hitting the gambling circuit over the past few years. I ran into this problem at Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. Too many tickets are reserved for high rollers and they usually DO sell out. Just some word for the wise.

I tried to buy my ticket in the middle of a freaking final. I told my professor that I had something urgent to do on my laptop halfway through so he let me stop the final and try to buy the ticket. They kept telling me my card was getting denied but they charged me for THREE tickets. I'm so pissed.
I won't go unless I'm in the first five rows but that seems really unlikely. I'm so sad.

So it appears she is actually starting in the east....

Hmmm... I was thinking more about this.
Do you guys think Stevie's solo shows in May will mostly, if not all, consist of CASINOS only? (or shows that aren't sold on Ticketmaster)
I would think if she did regular venues solo that it would compete with ticket sales for the Rod/Stevie tour. That would be bad marketing strategy, right?

I think it's not a good sign that the first dates so far are in casinos that are more-or-less proximal to scheduled Rod-Stevie shows. There is definitely something fishy about this. Either no promoter is willing to touch her solo show with a ten-foot broomstick, or the money she makes in a casino is so much better than what a promoter can offer her. But then again... perhaps this is not really THE tour, but rather, just a handful of random "not a tour" dates to fill up her calendar before the European jaunt (assuming that there will be something beyond Hard Rock). The tell-tale sign here is that she is going from east to west rapidly, just like she went west to east rapidly on the last "non-tour." If this was a proper tour, the west coast dates would have been at least a month after the east coast.

What you said makes sense. So these casino shows are likely "not a tour" dates.
So then we can speculate the the "REAL" solo tour will start in July, after Europe with Rod. If that's the case, that's cool. I kinda need more time to save up. I have to pay my bloody taxes first.

No I disagree, these HAVE to be tour dates. She's playing them the week her danmed album comes out!

03-21-2011, 07:01 PM
It's entirely possible that she's not "touring" behind this album in the traditional sense. By that, I mean maybe she's not doing two-months straight of shows under the "In Your Dreams Tour" billing.
What would be wrong with her doing two weeks or so of casinos/smaller venues, a quick trip over to Europe, come back in June/July and do a few more weeks of casinos/small venues, hitting some of the markets that she missed on the Heart and Soul jaunt.
If casinos and small venues are where the money is for her, and she's able to do roughly the same number of dates (maybe fewer), I see no reason at all why a long, 2-3 month "traditional" tour would be necessary.

Did anyone else notice how the shirts with the IYD cover had the heart and soul dates on the back. I don't know if I'm totally overreacting to this but it seems odd to me that they would use the IYD shirt with H&S dates. I would've thought they would wait until her own tour, whatever form that takes, to bust out those shirts.

Aaaack! Would it kill them to release all the tour dates all at once? Geez, I hate this part...not knowing if I should go to Phoenix for Rod/Stevie or Vegas for the all-Stevie show, or wait for all the dates to be announced to see if she comes to Texas, or somewhere closer. There aren't any casinos in Texas - said in my head w/ a Tom Petty voice, "there aren't any girls in the Heartbreakers."
Clearly, Warner Brothers doesn't give a sh*t bout anyone trying to make travel plans or needing to request time off work, etc. I've got a free Southwest round trip that expires May 17.

Yep - they really don't seem to care.
I know from other artists who have discussed this in the press, as well as a friend I have who is an assistant at a large music group here in the UK (who also have dealings with some US labels) that artists can have discussions with the label to do exactly this. More often than not the label will agree to it on this specific issue if the artist requests it. The dates are already booked after all.
The fact that Stevie doesn't take a more active role in such decisions really bothers me. It goes to show that as much as she claims to understand the "real" world (like her argument against a double album in the Destiny Rules doc) she really doesn't get it. Now that's fine, she's a rock star after all, but don't say one thng and do another - yet again! lol.

I think if they waited until all the dates were booked to announce the entire tour, it would end up being way too close to earlier dates taking place.
But if they announced both tours much earlier than they have now then there's be no problem. Most big artists announce a tour and dates on average 6 months in advance. This means that Heart and Soul could have been announced in October and Stevie Solo in about December. Both tours must have been being planned back then.
I can see that there could be be a concern that if her solo tour was announced it could effect Heart and Soul sales, but if there was a 2 month gap between announcements then that gives time for Heart and Sould tickets to get a head of steam. For example Rod's UK dates for later this year were announced months ago. I just don't get why Stevie can't or won't do the same thing for the US or anywhere else.
Basically, I think that we should have known about dates for both tours long before now to alow people to budget, plan, time off work etc. Anyone agree?
