Do you love it or hate it?

Love the cover, hate the lens flare bubble with a passion. It's a tacky, unecessary addon that detracts from a really stunning cover.

I don't love it, but I don't hate it. I like the coloring. But I think it would make a much better back cover or inside photo than the cover. Not my favorite Stevie cover (that would be "The Wild Heart") but it's ten times better than "Street Angel"!!

I don't like the bubble or Stevie's airbrushed face that makes her look like a stand in. The Horse doesn't bother me at all. I'm not fond of that thick bush below the tree on the left either.

Same here. It literally makes her look 1/3 of her age. I realize it probably wasn't her decision to do that, but still... it's a bit silly. I know how we all ribbed Christine for her highly airbrushed cover shot on In The Meantime, but it looks 1,000 times more realistic than this shot of Stevie:

http://images.uulyrics.com/cover/c/christine-mcvie/album-in-the-meantime.jpg

However, the overzealous photoshopping doesn't detract too much from my opinion of In Your Dreams cover, though... I still think it's gorgeous, and ranks as my favorite of her solo career .

Stevie needs a rag doll in her free hand. That would be soo cosmically gothic and awesome.

well, to me, it's just ok. It's not what I had in mind at all. It's far more fantasy than I imagined - I was imagining something more earthy. I like the tree's thing. Don't get the need for the horse at all. The lens flare is tacky and Stevie's face is way too airbrushed. But I like the idea behind it and think minus the horse and lens flare it could've been her best.

I wouldn't say I hate it (I take it back - I did say that, actually!) , but I really do not like it. It's really cheesy IMO.

And btw - speaking of album covers that don't look like the subject - I have never thought that Stevie really looks like Stevie on TOSOTM front cover. The back cover, yes. But the front? Not Stevie. She looks odd on The Dance as well.

It looks like Ivy climbing up the tree. That S**t is like a weed. It grows on anything. I have to constantly pull it & snip it away from the brick on my porch. But I do love it climbing my back yard lattice to keep my deck private.

Definitely they went too far with the photoshop. That face is not Stevie. Of course they can work the pic for a younger face than the real one, everybody does, but that's almost a teen!! Absurd.

Oh no no no... I see her point. She is saying..

Do I look like this?? Yeah! IN YOUR DREAMS!!

I really like it...the title of the album is after all 'In your Dreams' so perhaps this is a representation of one of Stevie's dreams?? An enchanted forest far away and a mystic lady with her white horse...Think of the lyrics to Forest of the Black Roses..... I'm just really pleased they haven't succumbed to a more commercial concept and gone in a bit more at the deep end:o

I love it as well. Its almost perfect.:) I really don't care about how photoshopped or young they made Stevie appear. Thats just all blah blah blah to me. However, my one and only criticism is that the portrait is a wee bit too busy.

Most of Stevie's album covers have been pretty stark studio shots which I love. She started to deviate somewhat with TISL. She incorporated the water element - through the archway to the sea - on the TISL cover, and embellished that to burnished perfection. Here, the one main enhancement (besides photoshop) is the lens flare effect. But otherwise, the tree and vine foliage are rampant, and that background seems to be enhanced even more by this flare effect, while Stevie's image is cooled and subdued. It's just an observation, but in the end I DO love it.
This album is called In Your Dreams for a reason. And the whole "Legend" & "Lord Of The Rings" vibe suits Stevie like a hand to glove.

You know it does me in the same way. Stevie and Linda Blair do look similar. It's not the photoshop job. It's the look on Stevie's face. The eerie way she is staring at nothing.

The font is not the best in my opinion. They obviously went with an Equesterian font. I think they should of used something more gothic, but it works—barely.

If you go back and look at past covers, she's been airbrushed almost every time, especially Timespace, Street Angel and The Dance. It's art, so some artistic license is accepted in the design.

Overall, I still see it as one of her better covers.

Well for now I'm not gonna vote yet. I'm not sure if I love it or hate it yet. I do think its better than SA though. I'm not really loving it though. I wish Stevie had some better expression on her face though. I know she's like never smiled on her LP covers but something better than the stone cold non expression. It does make me wonder what the back picture will be? than of course the outtakes? Some I like better than others. The fonts OK but I would've love some sort of calligraphy not necessarily like BD because there are many different types of calligraphy she could've used but I think it would've been really nice. Something that stands out more. The black dress is ok but more color would've been nice as well. I don't mind the trees. The horse is ok too but not sure the meaning behind the horse. Unless there really isn't one?? So well I guess I have some thoughts but like I said not gonna vote yet til I think about it more and look at it more. The light almost blocking her face some isn't good either. They might be going for effect but I think it detracts from the picture itself . Of course if this is the LP cover. Guess we'll find out later. Time will tell.

When I showed her the new album, it was the first time she showed any enthusiasm.

She loves horses.

I'll have to see the CD, but my initial impression is that this cover rivals TISL (at least), which is by far her best one. I think all the obsessing over the Photoshopping of her face is a bit much - for one thing, I doubt it's meant to be viewed at a high resolution, and for another, it's not like they've never Photoshopped or airbrushed the hell out of her for an album cover before.

It's a very Rhiannon-esque cover, and whoever said it reminded them of an old album cover from the '60s had it right on, and I think that's brilliant.

Really the only thing about it that irks me is having the text across the bottom. Album cover text (generally speaking) SHOULD be at the top (or at least the artist's name) Anybody a Wizard with Photoshop that they could blank out the existing text of Stevie's name and put it in black (same font) across the top? Just interested to actually see how that would look.

I am so glad to see so many Ledgies have taken a stand--one way or another--on this issue.

I can't wait til we do a poll comparing the new Lindsey album cover and the new Stevie album cover! yay!! Get on it, Lindseyspeople!

And perhaps after the album actually comes out we can do a poll of all of Stevie's album covers to determine the favorite.

Good point Chili. I know I'm old & people actually shopping for albums/CDs is a rarity these days, but people flipping through them aren't going to see the title & might flip right past it. I mean, you'll know what it is if you're a huge fan & know exactly what you're looking for, but casual shoppers?

The bubble is irritating...like when you look into the sunlight and have to squint. Her retouched face is awful....looks like she's about 15....is Stevie afraid of aging? Embrace your age, Stevie, you are a beautiful 62 year old woman! The horse-and-enchanted-forest is so stereotypical...looks like she's copping to the "airy fairy" image that people make fun of.....Why didn't she use one of the Secret Love photos for the album cover? The one of her behind the piano, or the one with the mirror frame and the beach in the background, are both much better than this.

I don't think Stevie is afraid of showing her age, and I doubt that the retouches to the photo were done with the intent of concealing age or wrinkles or crow's feet.

In the end, it's an album cover - it's meant to be a work of art which represents the feel and mood of the songs on the album, so I think a little artistic liberty is ok.

I still say that the picture is NOT MEANT to be blown up to
Three times its size and focused in on her face. If they wanted the first and foremost focus to be her face than they'd have done a close up.. its meant to be viewed as the
Entire image. They've taken the no nonsense route before with street angel. Simple picture of just her then block lettering. I didn't mind that cover either but a lot of people hate it too

I feel that the horse doesn't go far enough. People talk about the cover being airy fairy, but with that big, solid and ordinary horse there, it is almost too realistic for me.

On the one hand, when I looked at Stevie's dress I thought Massachusetts in the 1700s (although her loose hair wouldn't have been allowed then). So, yes, the horse goes along with that era.

On the other hand, if the bubble is mystical, then I think the horse should have a little magic too. Maybe a Pegasus. That would be the cause of even more mocking, but I think you do need to elevate the illusion. You can't have one foot on a rainbow and the other in fertilizer. If they want to give us fantasy, take it all the way.

Stevie standing with a real world horse, the kind you'd see in Central Park, just makes me wonder if she has a scooper to clean up after it when the shoot is over.

As do I. The Rhiannon imagery is very appealing, and reminds me of the Stevie who's music I fell in love with almost 30 years ago.
