Hi guys

Following on from the thread someone started about what other music we all like, I thought it could be fun if we each made a mix cd of our favourites and send it to another Ledgie - kind of like the secret santa thread from last year. Anyone up for it? I just think that hearing other people's choices is a great way to get to know each other!

Of course there must be a way to do this without making the cds and posting them, what will all the digital music services that are out there theses days. I aint down wit da kidz enough to think of one though, other than just writing the lists and telling people to download them! We could of course just get people's e-mail addresses and e-mail the mp3's?

Who's in?? I'll see how popular this idea is and then have a think on how to do it.

How about making a playlist on mediafire and PM'ing the link to the person you're assigned?

Anyhoo, I am definitely up for this :) Oo...Am I to take it that Mac related stuff is out, as a given considering they've no doubt heard anyway?

This would work but someone would have to tell me how to upload to Mediafire - haha! Yeah, Mac stuff woud be out. There are a few Ledgies I'm thinking of who I'd like to share playlists with.

http://www.mediafire.com/

All you have to do is sign up for the website (absolutely free unless you want a larger capacity), then create a playlist in "my account" area. Once that's done you'll see a tab saying "upload to this folder", where a box will pop up once you've clicked on it. A smaller yellow boxed area is inside with a "click here" instruction. Do so and it'll open your folders section, where you can browse for the files you wish to upload. Once you've picked just click on the green "begin uploading" tab and your files will upload to the chosen playlist. Once all that's done just copy the link to the playlist and voila!

I'd like to try this mediafire upload. But I need a theme!

I seem to have unwittingly fallen into the theme of folk music with my playlist lol. I'm starting to realise what my friends mean when they call me a "Damn Dirty Hippie" :p

Ok - let's go with a limit of 20 songs. Ones that are your favourites or are just "you". Once I get a list of people up for it I'll do some matches.. or just pm whoever you want to send your list to. I'm away tomorrow so it might be a day or so before I can get going on this though. I just wanted to see who'd be up for it.

I wanna send an actual CD in the mail. It's very exciting getting gifts in the mail. It rarely happens anymore. tilthefirefades(Anthony) is the Ledgie I have in mind because he's the only one I know that enjoys hip hop music like I do. And come to think of it, chelluversu(Michelle) might be interested also.

If you two or anyone else is interested pm me with your address, I'll burn it and send it asap. Not sure about mailing outside the United States though.

Here's the link to my playlist - it's supposed to be alphabetical, but mediafire didn't like that for some reason so they're a bit mixed up.. either way it doesn't really make a difference :)
I've also included a text file in which I've written the years the songs came out and the albums they're from, and a bit about why I chose them.

It's a fun playlist.. Clear the dancefloor!

well mine is all over the place and im very sorry...picking 20 songs is impossible for me so ive just gone for a lucky dip.
a few of the bands are up and coming..a few classic obvious names..and a few obscure songs that may or may not gain any new fans.
also have listed if there demos/ official etc.. so there could be some rare mp3's too!
but do listen and skip and find a song that you like please :)

(also put a X at the ones im personally encouraging new band wise so do check then out, there not heavy either! )

This sounds like an excellent and fun idea! I'd definitely love to be a part of it... I always enjoy sequencing and burning my own CDs anyways.

:blob2:

It might help though as far as matching people, to figure out who generally likes what kind of music. For example, I listen to a huge variety including classical, soundtrack scores, classic rock/hard rock, prog. rock, 60's-today's pop, easy listening, world music, and a little new age stuff. So if I were to make a CD, it would probably be selections from all those widely varied genres... but if I knew the person I was picking for liked rock music but hated classical for example, then I could narrow down the stuff I would pick from. Anyone else think that might be a good idea?
