Stevie hasn't had the most consistent career. The pne part of it that I feel has been VERY consistent tho has been the quality of her title songs. Her title songs aren't just one of the best songs on the album, they are usually THE best song on the album. TISL, hands down best song on that album. Wild Heart, same thing and both are top 5 Stveie songs period. Rock a Little is my favorite song on Rock a Little and my current ringtone, although its definitly not as widely popular. Street Angel is my favorite song on Street Angel other then maybe Love is Like a River. Bella Donna is actually the current weakest Stevie title song both on the album its on and against the other title songs. I still love it, just less then the others.

But despite being such a strong group of songs, She has NEVER played a title song live (other then Bella Donna when she had no choice but to play her whole solo album, it was imediately dropped in the next tour.)

So In Your Dreams the song, balls in your court. You need to be at least a 9 out of 10 to be worthy of a Stevie Nicks title song. Do the 2 of you who went to the meet and greet on Saturday feel the song is worthy?

I feel more confident in the quality of the opening song as I do to the title. I do think titles songs have been good - but there have been some misses. (Street Angel) On the other hand, I really love all of the opening songs. And I really hope In Your Dreams is more of a - haha, yeah right, in your face - kind of thing, rather than some dreamy fantasy.

"Bella Donna" is one of her absolute best songs..."Wild Heart" is right up there with it.

But from there, the Titular (yes, I said it) songs fell off. "Rock A Little" rocked very little and "Street Angel" was a slow bore. Among the songs on "Trouble In Shangri-La," the title song was good, but not the best.

Musically, "Bella Donna" and "Wild Heart" were epic with their musical shifts and un-poppy melodies. They were also both mysterious, lyrically speaking. Everything after that just seemed serviceable and standard.

You don't mean she actually performed in concert: "Kind Of Woman," "Think About It",
"Glitter Fades" and "The Highwayman" on that first tour, Hawkeye, or do you? How awesome it would be for the live versions to surface! I guess you meant the brief period where she performed "Bella Donna" on that 'very short tour'? Or maybe I just never knew!

She performed all the songs from Bella Donna except Kind Of Woman and The Highwayman. This tape is a regular in circulation. Excellent show from Los Angeles. You can also hear bad sounding quality shows from Tempe and Houston.

^ Thanks, Viv :)
Oh, and your words were far too kind to me in your birthday thread, I didn't deserve it. Thank you, though. I wanted you to have the last word in your birthday thread, so I didn't reply there, but there are Ledgies who deserved your lovely comments far more than I do.
-I'm kind of a bitch, ya know!

Well for half the albums, thats one in the same! But your right. The openers are great, but in the two cases where the opener and title song differ (RAL and SA) I like Street Angel better then Blue Denim and RAL basically equal to I Cant Wait. They're the 2 best.

How could you forget "Alice"? It's the de facto title track for The Other Side Of The Mirror, IMO. "Alice" is my favourite song from that album, followed by "Rooms On Fire" and "Long Way To Go".

I love her title songs as well. The extended version of "Rock A Little" is the freakin' best!

She shouldda called the album Rock a Little, The Nightmare instead. Naming it that would make the track the Nightmare more consistent with the epic title songs of the prior LPs and it would be a great foreshadowing of her next 8 -10 years.

I feel it is definitely worthy. Referring to my notes, I wrote the following about the song, "In Your Dreams"-
"Stevie said it was written about/during 9-11. About her being nervous about it. She talked about calling someone on a daily basis to help her nerves. (she didn't mention the name of the person) She also said she thought IYD was a great title for the album because it has a double meaning - being a song on the album and also , like, "In your dreams!" The song had a medium/high tempo. VERY good song."

Hope that helps.

I thought it was a very good, mid-tempo song but it didn't stand out for me like the first track. Of course I will have to hear it again to give a more accurate assessment.

I LOVE her title tracks. All of them are at least one of the top 3 best songs on the album including Alice.

I'd say rock for sure. I heard 8 songs that day and took notes, but was also trying to be in the moment and pay attention to Stevie. So, that's all I have. But I REALLY wouldn't worry about it not holding up. Man, I hope they release that sizzle reel soon so you guys can see. Seriously, you will be amazed.

I agree, definitey rock-ish. May have some synths but not country.

Just pointing out that if you're trying to gain information from those who have it, you've got to be a little less demanding and a tad more endearing.

Don't know. A quick glance suggests it should have been closed anyways.

"Is the show going to be in the round?" Yeah, its going to be the only Rod/Stevie show in the round and the only Stevie show ever to be in the round, right. Meanwhile, the venue site says what seating configuration will be used.

"How is Key Arena different than the Tacoma Dome?" Oh, gee, if only there were websites to compare the venues, and how the city of Seattle is different from the city of Tacoma.

There are plenty of Rod/Stevie tour threads.

If I remember correctly its a faster paced rock-ish sounding song. I think it reminded me of a little ZZ Top/Tom Petty sound. She said she wrote it after 9/11. She was having a conversation with the sound booth guy and he would tell her "stevie, i know you may not be up for it. If you don't want to sing, i'll turn your mic down and i'll turn the girls up. If you barely sing, i'll turn the girls up. I'm on the other other end of your line" The "line" meaning the mic line. So Stevie Stevie said she made that a line in the song "I'm on the other end of your NIGHT." I remeber that is a line in the chorus "I'm on the end of your dreams" I think is another line? Regardless I really liked the rock sound of that and "The ghosts are gone".

I hope that helps clear up some speculation. I do not think it is as "epic" as some of her title songs though. Its still a fun song and I enjoyed it immensely.

Actually, the only songs she's really "talked" about have been Secret Love, Soldier's Angel, Moonlight, Everybody Loves You, and maybe Cheaper Than Free.

In February.

We have two months until the album is released. Maybe Stevie & Team are dolling things out slowly to build interest and mystery.

I realize a slow build is a foreign concept to impatient children of today.
