View Full Version : Current fashion trends you hate

So it's starting to warm up outside in Texas, and that means Louie has been out looking at Spring/Summer clothing lately. Here's my gripe. It seems every time I find a t-shirt I really like, it turns out to have skulls all over it. This has been a growing trend the past 2 years. More and more skulls in male clothing. I freaking hate it! Why would I want to wear a skull across my chest or back? I'd understand it if I were shopping for black t-shirts and such... but I'm not. I mainly wear shades of blue. It just seems skulls are showing up on everything. T-shirts, flip flops, shorts, jeans, just anything you can think of. I *HATE* it!

Anyone else have a current fashion pet peeve? :p

I find all those cool graphics tees men wear, kinda cool. I don't like anything morbid or with skulls though on me or others. I also have never liked skinny jeans. I'd never wear them and I don't like them on others, especially men. Might as well wear denim tights. As far as seasonal weather, I don't think people down here ever really put away their shorts and tee shirts all winter... I figured Texas stays just as warm

For the most part, I hate the trend in men's dress shoes that feature a squared toe; it looks stupid and somehow clog-like, from the front, and especially from the side view. A classic pointed toe, or even a rounded one, looks so much better, and the square toe doesn't allow pants to align with the shoes properly, it just looks dumb. 2 years ago, the square-toed mens shoes were all you would see in higher end stores, and I had two pairs. I threw out one pair and never wear the other pair.
I needed new shoes quick one night which is why I bought the first pair. The second pair I should have known better than to buy. The square toe shoes are still prominent in stores, but seem to be being phased out some, you can find good looking shoes, again.
OH-- and all this fake leather- in leather jackets, has anyone noticed this in the past 6 months or so? - "Face: 100% Polyeurathane- Backing 100% Viscoe"- and are still priced- and displayed- as leather-jackets amongst the actual, real leather jackets. You really have to read the tags carefully. It is a very unfortunate and still exploding trend, as of last year, and it hasn't peaked yet. Read the labels at Lord And Taylor and Macy's- leather jackets aren't real leather jackets and the price is still $2oo or more- I found one such jacket in gray by Calvin Klein I liked a lot, so I made an exception- but one will be all- leather jackets should be leather.
Oh, one more- 'microfiber' sofas, chairs, what have you. It's cheap. And not priced accordingly. Sales people love me- but I get the truth from them ('You're the first one who's noticed- no, they are NOT actual leather jackets, but it's being marketed smartly. It is more durable than real leather."-- "it's still fake leather"- "yes, sir, that is correct").
The furniture stores were a tad touchier about their huge line of microfiber furniture. "Microfiber was used in bad men's clothing 10 years ago before people caught on and refused to buy it, and now it's in furniture?" - "Sir, it's not like that". "Oh, ok."
"I'd like real fabric for the sofa. You do have swatches, yes?" I got the real fabric- a quality, durable sofa that looks incredible and will last. Didn't cost much more at all. Microfiber. Oh, bullsh*t. Microfiber is used in gloves you buy for $3 at CVS that will last half a season for shoveling snow, it is not for furniture, and as I said, it was a disaster in the clothing industry.
It's a ripping off of consumers, and every now and then; you get people in sales who are happy, surprised, or impressed that someone notices the difference, in clothing stores more so than in furniture stores.

I like skinny jeans. Not exclusively, but I do like them, they are sleek.
You just don't want to put your wallet inside the front or back pockets! Must go into a jacket pocket!

I like (ok) looking graphic tees like this when men wear them but none of that morbid skull stuff like Louie mentioned. And I like men in jeans like this and not those awful skinny jean tights looking things. Sorry to ones who wear them, I wear the occasional skirt so pay no attention to me.

These are cool

Any t-shirts of the following brands:

Affliction
Ed Hardy
Tapout

There's so many wannabe UFC fighters here in Las Vegas, and they all insist on wearing them.

Maybe if you're going to Target or the grocery store. I'm just really tired of seeing girls in the hotels here dressed to the nines and their douchbag boyfriend is wearing one.

I don't really keep my finger on the high street fashion pulse :o I also only wear skinny jeans. I do like baggy jeans but they're more expensive to buy

I HATE Harem pants. fdsfgahjklsdkfjhgdhsj WHY do these western girls insist on wearing them made out of cheap material that just looks more and more like a diaper every time they're washed? It's beyond me.

Army boots. I'm talking the scratty fashion ones, not real badass army boots. Again, cheap crap will always look like cheap crap. You cannot wear something 'grungy' with your faux fur coat and leggings, it doesn't work. You look like morons, ladies.

""""""""""""""Vintage"""""""""". No, you're not individual, you're a hipster. You're never going to find real vintage in Topshop so go home.

Ed Hardy
Abercrombie
Hollister
Oh, and Primark. More badly made fabric sewn together by exploited child slaves. Do the world a favour and sew your own dresses, I do.

Yesyesyesyesyes. Me and my friend were in Starbucks the other day, and this girl kept walking past, and she was wearing Harem pants; and she looked absolutely ridiculous. It's like they have a constant wedgie. It's the ugliest effing look for a long time.

Skinny jeans on men. It freaks me out.

Also, this might just be my area (high chance it is) but leopard print seems to be everywhere. WHO said this is a good look? It looks cheap; and it instantly makes me think Bo Selecta / Mel B.

T-shirts are great for summer days, and for sleepwear, and I like the built in separate long sleeves pictured above. Most of the time, though, not being 25, I think a man needs a collar on his shirt, even if it's a pullover, or he looks like he's dirt poor. Sweltering days exempted.
Back to skinny jeans for a second, I like em at times, they can be sleek and sexy, but I think I also agree with the first man's comment who wrote that you may as well be wearing denim leggings, also! If ya can wear it, wear it. I always want to laugh a little, but don't, if I see anyone with a big old butt in skinny jeans! Just doesn't work out too well.
I have to say, M. LouieLouie, this thread is fun and has potential to last years. Kvetching about fashion trends is just timeless! Oh- and I never did comment- the skull thing is played out, I agree with you- as much as it hurts. Har :)
The skulls should be less-around next year, it's been going on now for about 6 years. Remember when crosses (crucifixes) were a fashion accessory- earrings, bracelets, necklaces, emblems on shirts- they're around some still, but not nearly as much. I don't know if many here are beyond the age of...hmm, 35, who may well remember the nylon multi-zippered men's pants of the 80s- zippers down the legs, in the back, at least 6 zippers on one pair of pants, but they had about a 6 year run, a good run, and bang, suddenly, in LA you'd only see homeless people wearing them! No-one else would be caught dead wearing them after they ran their course.
Oh, the following is odd coming from a Stevie Nicks fan- but wearing black after the age of 40 just isn't the greatest idea. After 50, it's kind of a bad idea. After 60, you just look coffin-ready and like you're dressed for your own funeral. So, know when to cut back on black, unless you know it's your perfect look.
I loved black for 20 years-- around 37, I decided that being light skinned, blonde, and blue eyed, that black was just too severe and now hardly wear any for fear of looking like a corpse. Of course, women (like Stevie) always can look striking in it, but it can definitely be overdone.
Black is for goth teens, 20 somethings, and into part of your 30s. After that, it ages you a bit- maybe men, only, I'm not sure. I think peaches and pale greens can make a woman in her 50s have a youthful tone to her face. When my Mom, who is 76, wears a certain shade of lavendar, her skin looks like she's in her late 50s. Different things work for you at different times of your life, I think.
A trend I hate is not knowing when to tweak your look a bit.
The first few years of my 40s, the black jeans and blue jeans became white jeans, I lived in them, had a dozen pairs, still have them, and I rocked 'em. To get cruised at 43 and have the look work for me did wonders for any self esteem I had left. Now, I can't wear white jeans much at all anymore, now that the famous Justin kid (Bieber) was photograped in white 10,000 times. So, there's a season, and when I saw an 11 year old using my look, it became time for me to drop it!
I still like hoodies, though, with jeans.
Oh, I think only men in Texas should wear hats- I think men in Texas without their hats would be miserably unhappy, and they do wear them with great style, year round.
A man in a cowboy hat in Connecticut is a hilarious thing to see- one night at the Mohegan Sun, I was in the casino when some big country star played the arena, and the hundreds upon hundreds of ten gallon hats walking through the casino made me want to get hysterical with laughter. Yet, it really works on a real Texan, sexy as hell.
(Of course, during cold winters anywhere, anyone who wants to should wear hats).

A whole item of clothing or whole outfit of leopard (or other animal) print looks cheap but I kind of like a hint of it as part of an outfit - something like one small piece such as a belt or scarf or shoes.

I'm not understanding all the hate for skinny jeans on guys. As with anything very fitted, it all depends on the relative physical fitness of the wearer. If you have skinny legs, but a big gut and wide hips, skinny jeans are not for you. But if you have a good booty and big calves, skinny jeans can be your friend. Being on the shorter side with a small waist and big thighs, I kinda need skinny jeans or jeans with some kind of stretch to them. The only alternative would be to buy "relaxed fit" jeans that fit over my thighs, which means they are big and baggy everywhere except for the thighs, which is not a flattering look- they are almost like bell bottoms.

I must not get out a lot because I don't see a lot of the skull trend on the street. What really irks me are those "retro" T-shirts emblazoned with fictitious sports team logos, e.g., "The Manchester Tornados." How douchey is that? I never see people on the street wearing them, yet that's all you see in the stores.

The overall thing that irks me is that it is virtually impossible to find anything out there that is properly tailored. I can't buy shirting and suits off the rack; anything that doesn't stretch has to be custom made. Everything else seems to be cut for guys who have narrow shoulders and big fat bellies, i.e., the typical American man. Invariably this means I have to buy stretchy things that are a little tight around the shoulders and chest; otherwise, all of that extra fabric will hang around my midsection like a muumuu. I hate that!

I'm rather tired of the hipster trend. I see the same outfit over and over and over and over and over. Flannel, skinny black jeans, hair big and back, and thick, black trimmed glasses.

For the guys out there, those damn Tapout shirts. Now, I don't like UFC at all, but I hate posers of any kind even more (they give the real fans a bad name and are too busy trying to be something they aren't). I bet half of them don't even know what UFC stands for or what it even is.

I don't really have any gripes for the ladies right now, but I do have a few brands I have my gripes about, namely Ed Hardy and Hollister (OK, I did wear it in high school, but now the market for it in my area has become saturated and the one in my mall is so desperate for people to come in that they're always constantly having a clearance sale, but looking back now, it was overpriced trash that was cut 2 sizes too small and had stores that were more like mazes than anything else)

I bet that's like IKEA. Purposefully built like a maze so you get lost and make impulse purchases. Only, I'd rather spend at IKEA than Hollister, at least I could furnish my bedroom for £40 and not walk away with just one t-shirt

Hejira, I hear ya- don't buy American- the shirts are always too big in the stomach, you travel a lot, yes? 'Rue de Rivoli' in Paris- great men's shops, and the shirts from Europe tend to fit slim guys much better. Here in The States, even the not-expensive Italy import brand 'Alfani'- has shirts without all the excess gut-fabric. The DKNY Men's Line is much more streamlined and European as well, in both shirts and pants, and Kevin Cole does some fine men's clothing that is sleek. 'Guess' is not bad, design wise, but tends to run large in the waist and ass. I like Ralph Lauren a lot for men's casual but good pants and there's some great stitching and material used , except they tend to run a bit short for me in the inseam. (Hejira, is it me, or is Armani for the chunksters? I've never found any Armani I love the fit on that wouldn't need major reconstructive tailoring! Hilfiger, too. Too bulky.)
As you do, I like the skinny jeans, though I'm on the taller side, but I think you're right about the calves and butt and lack of gut making skinny jeans work- the only thing is that skinny jeans require empty pockets- for me, at least, I feel too self-conscious, otherwise. I don't use a man purse, but I don't travel light- ha- what an understatement.
Between contact lense case (which I might be able to keep in a pocket of non-skinnys) , solution, (which of course can go into no pocket!) regular glasses if I need to remove the contacts suddenly, a wallet, smokes and a lighter (I know, horrible habit) and needing a pair of 'reading glasses' for up close I have needed since I was 36 when I wear contacts so I can see- oh a seat number and aisle row- a hairbrush, perhaps some skin product and a touch-up razor- Empty pants pockets in the Skinny Jeans are a hassle for nights out, for me. Then, there's a pill bottle or three, because though I can and do use the 'watch pocket' of pants for pills, I have to keep bottles with me, in the car, in case I ever need to prove the meds are mine and legally prescribed. My doctor warned me of that. It's a wonder, truly, I ever make it out the door.

-I use an airline carry-on and keep it in the car! And cell-phones never go into a concert with me. You have to admit, skinny jeans aren't exactly helpful to keep things handy- well- don't go there! :) I mean, to be able to have any other extra stuff with you that you might want.
I liked cargo pants quite a lot with all the pockets in 2000 and they actually suited me well and I didn't need them tailored. But guys aren't wearing cargo pants anymore, are they? I had a gray pair I should find to see how they've held up, I haven't had them on in years. But I don't know if they're still worn anymore or not. F it. I like them. These were exceptional. If I can find them, I'll put em back into circulation :)
Must buy some magazines, GQ and the male French Vogue or whatever it is that I have the first issue of published , kept downstairs that has
George Clooney on the cover. Must buy a current issue. Must get out of the house more and into NYC to see what works, now.
If you are into shoes, Hejira- pls. name 2 brands of shoes you think are indispensable to your wardrobe-it would be helpful to know. Thanks.
Any young guys reading: wear the right shoes, and you can walk in anywhere. Make it a goal to have shoes that makes everyone else's look inferior. Spend money that seems too much on shoes. It pays off. Well, that was advice I got at age 2o or so. It works. Nobody efs with you if you're in shoes they know they'd buy if they could.
It was easier for me to ensure this in the 80s and 90s when I'd travel to Europe somewhat, now and then. I haven't flown since 1999 and don't want to. I do try to make the shoes the best I can buy, but I know less now about them.
-and again, Modlouielouie, this is my favorite thread in eons, thank you.

I hope that Ikea is better in Europe than in The States. Buy something at Ikea here and you'll be replacing it before it gets inside of your house! The stuff falls apart. All of it! Here. May be much better where you are, and glad you like it!

It's iffy  You have to kick the display models to test it, put it that way. I love the designs though. Clean, crisp and tidy ready to have cute quirky things put in them.

I hate hollister. My sister always dragged me in there. I've never liked it. It's dark and the music was loud, and I was constantly running in to stuff. The clothes did nothing for me. I just don't get it. But I will admit I have lotion from there because it smells good.

I can't stand skinny jeans. They're so unflattering. They make it look like your ass is just gone - and if you actually have a little junk in your trunk you can't even wear skinny jeans. They are, really, just kinda gross. And then there are the kids who sag them, which makes a bad thing even worse.

I used to love shopping at Urban Outiftters until they decided to be the skinny-pant pitstop.

Speaking of pants....men should not EVER wear pleated slacks. They give guys girl hips and then get all bunched up in the crotch - it's just gross. Flat front only, guys! Go through that closet and give all those pleated pants to Goodwill.

I was in Italy in September, and it thrilled me to not see a single Italian youth in skinny pants, so I think it's safe to say the trend is passing and someday soon we'll all look at old photos of our friends wearing them and laugh about how silly they look.

Tip for guys: Avoid fashion trends. Avoid fads in clothing, especially. Buy cuts and patterns that are classic and your wardrobe will last forever.

That's great advice I totally agree with- Elegant, classic, and classy does last forever.
Yet, there is a place for some fun, and knowing what just isn't acceptable in casual wear is worth knowing. Good clothes always have the chance that they may return to being classic. So, I totally agree with you. It is excellent advice.
BUT- things like jeans, you can't be stuck in a time warp, wearing bell-bottoms from the 60s or the baggy below-your-butt jeans of the 90s, you kind of do need to keep up with 'fashion' or 'trends' about jeans, or you could look ridiculous- anyone remember 'acid wash'- not the best trend!
My favorite dress suit I think is pretty rare, and it's old, old old, so it's the opposite of the jeans theory, above. I found it in NYC in 1994- and I'll never part with it. I bought it used at some intriguing shop I'm sure doesn't exist anymore and if it does, I'd never be able to find it.
Diane von Furstenberg had a (handsome and bisexual) first husband, Prince Egon Von Furstenberg, and I've tried to narrow down when this suit was made- he designed men's suits for a time in the 1970's and perhaps as early as the late 1960's- I think this suit (3 piece light blue-gray pinstripe) is from 1971, and it is gorgeous. I don't think anything has ever looked as good on me as this suit, so though I know little about him, I think the Prince knew style- I've worn it to weddings, funerals, and on business, and I always had the best suit in the place- yeah, better than the deceased in the coffin! Better than the tux of the groom. My doctor commented on it years ago, the suit just has something intangible about it, if suits are able to do that! My attorney commented on it. Ick- At a NYC concert I attended, a guy walked up to me in the lobby and asked if he could... The suit just works on me.

I wish I could find more of his clothing and wonder how rare it is- I also wonder if maybe Diane designed it for him, and he put his label in it. It was 'Made in Hungary', so perhaps he himself did it. I know The Prince and Diane divorced in the early 70s, and that he's dead. The suit is really classic and exquisite and I stand a little taller in it, somehow. Funny and true: When I bought the suit in '94, there was a half-smoked joint in the vest pocket that maybe had been there for decades.
Of course, I did. Great suit and a good buzz.
I've never seen anything else designed by him, but have only checked eBay. I wonder if his clothing is worth anything.

Uggs. Barf. They're clunky, unflattering & gross. I guess I wouldn't mind them if they were actually winter boots, but they are not that well insulated & they have **** support for your feet. So yeah. Those. I thought they were already out a few years ago, but they just.won't.go.away.

I hate hollister. My sister always dragged me in there. I've never liked it. It's dark and the music was loud, and I was constantly running in to stuff. The clothes did nothing for me. I just don't get it. But I will admit I have lotion from there because it smells good.

My sentiments exactly. Me & my friend went into an Abercrombie & Fitch a couple years ago, and the employee stared at us the whole time and made me feel like a criminal. Also, all I could find were these boring T-Shirts for $40 each. Then I got a huge headache because they spray perfume all over the place.

The only places like that I like to shop are American Eagle & Aeropostle, because you can find really cheap, cute, stuff there...and they have more sizes in stock than just XS,S, & M

As for fashion this season I don't like... it would have to be pajamas. People who wear pajamas to class. It's a big thing among college students here & they look so lazy & pointless...at least trade them for some sweat pants.

I totally forgot about the perfume thing. I can barely walk by perfume areas without it giving me a headache or making it hard for me to breathe. I like American Eagle too. I usually go to Charlotte Russe though since it's 5 minutes from my house. American Eagle is like 45 minutes away :(
I hate the pajama thing too. I'm all for being comfortable, but wear sweatpants at least pajamas are for bed.

Nicolaj, if you can't put a wallet in your pocket, or even keys, those are not skinny jeans. Those are straight up jeggings!

http://cache.fashionista.com/uploads/2010/12/conan-jeggings-260x389.jpg

Those are definitely a no-no. I guess I am thinking of skinny jeans as being something of a catch-all for anything that is tight, but not cutting off ones circulation or betraying the religion of the wearer. My favorite jeans are body-hugging, not body-choking.

As for more "fitted" brands, I pretty much avoid all of the bread-n-butter brands peddled by the major department stores: Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren, Nautica, Burberry, etc. Waste of time! Calvin Klein is hit-or-miss. I would have to say that my favorite brand hands down is John Varvatos, John Varvatos U.S.A., John Varvatos for Converse, etc. His style is very much of the moment but also classically urban. But most importantly, the cut, especially in the suiting, is decidedly "athletic." The Zara store is also a very good source, but the sizing there is very, very small. It's very inexpensive but the fit and finish are surprisingly high quality. It's very trendy, so if you are of a certain age like me, tread cautiously! But above all else, my one true love is Barney's New York, especially when they're on sale. The Bloomingdales "SoHo Annex" in NYC comes close, but Barney's has a certain vibe to it- trendy at times, but always, always tasteful.

In terms of shoes, I really, really try not to wear leather, if for no othe reason than to be consistent with my vegan/vegetarianism. But OMG, it's hard! My favorite non-leather shoes are a brand called Novacas (Portugal), but the pricing is a bit dear and they fall apart very, very quickly; I had to get mine repaired ($30!) after wearing them a few times. But I have to admit that the best shoes I have ever owned are a pair of Prada leather sandals. They have lasted forever and I still have complete strangers on the streets of New York complimenting them. It's just such a shame that it's so hard to find non-leather shoes these days. As a kid, I seem to recall that buying leather shoes, or even a leather purse, was considered a luxury. These days it's a forgone conclusion.

What are these harem pants everyone's talking about on here? Like the MC Hammer pants (I never wore) in the early 90's? Yeah those looked like saggy diapers in the crotch when people wore them. And Uggs. I agree, those are so UGLY! If I were a woman I would never ever wear such ugly boots.

Fun topic. :)

I'm normally annoyed by all the hate for skinny jeans - like they're some new style that is just a couple years old. Even for guys, this is way off. Anyway, I only wear skinny jeans and I love them. They are of varying degrees of skinniness. Some are more skin tight, and I always get asked if I'm comfortable. My tighter ones are actually more comfortable, because they are stretchy and give me a lot of room. And for those of you that don't know, they do make guys skinny jeans with more room down there. If I wear anything bigger than skinny jeans, I look a lot bigger. From my perspective, why would I wear something that made me look bigger? I'm quite thin so I can pull it off. And I don't have much of an ass in any kind of jeans, btw.

Anyway, for things I hate. I hate all the girls here who wear a hoodie, sweatpants and uggs. Hate uggs. It's so boring and you look just like everyone else. I genuinely enjoy seeing people who obviously left their room that day and bothered to look nice - or at least look like their own unique person.

I also hate all the hollister/abercrombie/generic stuff.

I can't stand false eyelashes, especially on teens (I know from my teaching days that they're a big thing on prom night) or very young women. Can't say I like them much on anybody. Women don't need them as far as I'm concerned.
And I've never been much of a fan of black nail polish. I know I'm in the minority.

As for dressing myself, I can't say that fashion trends are a big priority. (Not even sure I've seen skinny jeans for guys, but doubt I'd want to.)
Pet peeve is when stores take a simple shirt, even a t-shirt or polo, and price it outrageously high. You'll never convince me I'm paying for quality.

You should look closer at the label. Often times, if it's really simple and really expensive, it was made in the U.S. In that sense, I think it's worthwhile. But if it's really expensive and still made in China, then you're definitely overpaying.

^^^^^ or however many, above- Heji,
They are the actual Levi 'Skinny Jeans' that I have and oh no, they are in that same shade of gray as your Conan photo- I can fit my wallet inside of them, but the look just is...wrong.
That Conan photo about made me die- I dun't like him, and I have the Skinny's in that exact shade of gray. The legs are not that tight as in his picture I'm relieved to say, for sure. The other Levi Skinny's I have that are the standard blue jeans color, I will put the wallet in my pocket, they're fine. His legs look ridiculous, especially, wearing whatever those are, and by the way, his shoes are the ugly square-tipped style of shoe I referred to in my first reply to Mll's thread.
Sigh. No, the legs of my pair are not like that. And thank you God, neither is my body! And those are my only 2 pairs of 'skinny'jeans, when I knew something worked real well for me, I would buy way more than 2 pairs, if you saw my white jeans comments- I must have more than the dozen I estimated of those by every jeans manufacturer of them I found.
Damn that Justin Bieber. White jeans was my thing, then that fetus had to start wearing them, and even he seems to have stopped now.

I always thought those perfumed scents were added to stores' ventilation systems throughout. I read about it once in the paper how businesses use scents to entice customers. I'm pretty sure Cracker Barrel does the same thing to get that old country smell when you walk in.

I definitely agree with this. A good example is American Apparel. I just don't get paying all that money for a plain, solid color t-shirt. My other half LOVES American Apparel. To me, their clothing looks just like Fruit Of The Loom... except priced about 10 times as much. I'd almost understand the phenomena if the clothing was made extremely well, but I've noticed Jimmy's American Apparel shirts unravel prematurely.

Regarding fashion in general... I'm not stylish myself. I can't really judge what others wear, I just know what I wouldn't. I say whatever you feel good wearing, go for it.

For the past couple years, but especially recently I am seeing a lot of early 60's Mad Men-inspired stuff for women. Dresses that are short and flared, for example.

If you're not familiar, do a google image search for "Betty Draper". The mall stores for adult women (Banana Republic for example) are full of that stuff!

Well the most obvious reason for paying more is you know it was made in America. I don't have a lot of things from AA because of the price - but the things I do have are an amazing fit on me.

Tutus. Are you a ballerina? If not, then take it off!
Pants belted under the ass. You look like you've shat yourself. Pull them up or expect them to fall down to your ankles the next time you trip up or run for the bus (Seen this happen too many times to mention). Even if pulling your pants up is beyond your capabilities - for the sake of Buddha himself - wear clean undercrackers. I don't want to see what you had fro breakfast yesterday.
Tight fitted - to the point of asphyxiation - clothing on those who shouldn't wear them. ie. Those who are not the size of a twig. I love everybody and have nothing against anybody's style choice. But with the love in my heart and my eagerness to look after you and protect you, I hate to tell you that you look like Sausages....

Can someone who hates skinny jeans explain? I'm really curious.

For me, it comes down to proportion. Starting at the bottom, they distract the eye making shoes and feet look too big for the body walking on them, almost cartoony.

They're typically too tight and bunchy in the crotch, leaving nothing to the imagination. Like old pictures of Lindsey Buckingham on tour. Gross.

If they have ample room in the butt, then they look okay from behind; but -most- of the guys I see in them can't even get them around and over their ass, so they sit halfway up the butt leaving underwear (or worse, buttcrack) exposed for all to see when worn with the typical combo of a shirt that is three sizes too small.

A straight-legged jean is more flattering to a man's broad-shouldered figure than a skinny-legged jean. Personally, I prefer a boot cut.

Ultimately, if you like wearing them and are comfortable, to hell with what anyone else thinks.

I completely agree. I've seen some great shirts with some really interesting interwoven swirly designs but then there's a skull embedded in there as well. I wouldn't mind the shirt if the design is relatively small and subtle....but no skulls or daggers. What the hell??

Also, speaking of shirts, one thing that annoys me is seeing new concert t-shirts from the days of yore. Why would you buy a brand-new Stone's '72 concert t when you weren't even born then? No offense to anyone here that likes them. I just think that's retarded. And, are these t's actual replicas of the originals? Haven't done my research.

Some of their stuff was a bit revealing if you like that, but they actually had some nice embellished stuff and tops that were cool and longer sleeved, and jackets etc. I liked. I'm always looking for the perfect Stevie wear, especially when you get into flashy tops and sequins because no one takes the time or has the skill to make that kind of stuff unless you run across it in boutiques or private sellers online. I actually like that black glittery dress. Not because I'd ever wear it, but it'd look cute on a woman. I guess we all like different things. : /
