Continued from part 1-

So Stevie was introducing this Sizzle Reel and she talked about how you'll see a Unicorn in it, and that she looked over out of her bedroom window one morning and saw this big beautiful white horse in her backyard, with a braided tail and everything! (they had brought it on for the video shoot) She said the horse will be on the cover of her album. (She used the word "unicorn" first, but I think she does mean a horse because in the clip it didn't have a horn, LOL).
So then she said, "Ok- we're gonna show this twice because it's only, like, 2 minutes, so of course you will all want to see it again, right?" Everyone cheered. :D

So the clip/Sizzle Reel starts. It was basically a montage of maybe 4 songs, with images of her singing (in different outfits and different shots), the beach, Dave Stewart, the Horse, an Owl , some vampirish- people with fangs, a little girl. It was fast-paced and it looks like we may be in store for more videos for this album. One shot had her wearing this beautiful red dress. The songs played during this clip were , "A Vampire's Dream", " Annabel Lee" , "Italian Summer", and maybe another
one. It played once, then Stevie said, "Ok- Play it again!" It kicked butt! Everyone LOVED it. Stevie sat in an empty chair in the front row 4 chairs away from me when this was happening. :D After the second play, Stevie stood up, turned around and said, "When Dave played this for me the first time, I was like (then mouthed the words, F**k) " Everyone cracked up.
Then Stevie thanked us for all being there to listen and introduced her new album. She said the first song was "A Vampire's Dream" and that it was inspired by Twilight- New Moon, with the whole Edward, Bella and Jacob story. The song begins and Stevie came around and sat behind me, next to Sharon and Lori. (I wrote another side note that "I can't believe I'm here right now!") The song is amazing! It's medium tempo. About half way through it I turned around and smiled at Stevie and gave her a nod with a thumbs up. She responded with a HUGE smile and shook her fists like, "yes!" I was on frickin' Cloud 9 guys!!
Then the second song played- "For What It's Worth". It was a folksy-sounding song. (fogive me if my music terminology isn't perfect) Stevie's still behind me - I'm blessed!! :D My throat got all tight at this point like tears were gonna start but I swallowed it down and kept cool. I just thought I was so blessed... I thought, Stevie is behind me watching me listen--- unfreaking real!!

Then Stevie stood up after the song and talked about the next song, "In Your Dreams". She said she thought it would be a great name for the album because of it's dual meaning, as in the name of one of the songs and also as in, like- in your dreams! Everyone laughed at that. This song had a medium/high tempo. Another fantastic song. These are sounding SUPER good! They were playing the entire songs, BTW.

Next song was, "Ghosts Are Gone" (forgive me if I don't have the titles exactly right - Stevie didn't introduce every one of them, so I guessed at the titles as I was listening.)
< I was really trying to balance both writing stuff down so I could have it for future reference and looking at Stevie while she was talking - I think I managed a good balance :) >
Stevie went over to the left side of the room (my side) when the song began and kind of went behind this big promotional picture of her (there were 4 of these promo pictures, two on each side of the room, held up by eisles - 2 newer photos and 2 older photos from her past.) She was about 6 feet from me. At the beginning of the song, she kind of held her arms up and the song stopped. She then looked towards the back of the room where they were controlling it and said, "No- play it. I was just rockin' out." Everyone laughed again. Stevie's funny. This was an up-tempo song. Awesome song.
"Secret Love" was the next song played. Stevie was still behind the promo photo, but I could see her because she occassionally came forward and was doing a little air-guitar to this one. I was mouthing the words and wondering if Sharon and Lori could see me from behind. :) Oh, and the song ended just like it does on the single. I know some of you were wondering about it being different once the album comes out.

"Soldier's Angel" was next. This song has a slow, serious tempo. It sounded pretty much just guitar, drums and voice. Lindsey does harmony with her on it and it sounds spectacular. (Another side note I wrote- "I'm getting to listen to Stevie's album with Stevie!!") Stevie was mouthing the words to this song.

Stevie signals to stop after this song and introduces "Annabell Lee". She credited Edgar Allen Poe and said she had wrote it when she was 17. She said she had it as a demo 15 years ago. The song is medium tempo. I remember liking the part when she sings, "bright eyes.." Stevie went behind the photo again for this song, but poked her head out and sang a line of lyrics to Sharon and Lori, smiling ear to ear. (I was like- am I seriously dreaming right now??? It's 4:07 PM and I'm with Stevie right now!) There was about 80 people there, I'd say. Most people were in the back standing. I'm SO lucky I got to sit where I was sitting!

Next song was "Italian Summer". This has a slow/medium tempo. I describe it as it sounding like a "movie song". High production. (once again, forgive my terminology)
This was when I noticed the candles on the table. Stevie was mouthing the words to this one too, closing her eyes. After it ended, she said, "Are you feeling Italian yet?" People answered yes, and she said, "Beautiful women...Bella Donna.."

Then she introduced a video for "Cheaper than Free". She talked about houw she got the idea of the song from Reese Witherspoon when she was hanging out with them one night and someone needed a place to stay. I believe she said Dave offered them to stay with him - it was free. Then Reese said, "What's Cheaper than Free?" Then Stevie said her and Dave looked at each other and thought, what a great idea for a song! The video is shot documentary style, with clips of her in the studio with Dave, scenes of them hanging out with Reese Witherspoon. (I'm watching Stevie watch her video! :D)

Then the Q & A part began. They took questions from the audience. I raised my hand, but the moderator missed me. That's ok though. I was happy just being there.
The first question was from a girl named Rhiannon, and Stevie said, "Oh, you're one of my little Rhiannons!" I didn't write down what she asked though- and can't remember. The next questions was if Stevie has any songs that she loves doing live and songs that she gets sick of doing live. She basically said she never gets sick of it, as she can take herself back to when it was written, but she does think it's fun to do songs that they don't do often like "Beautiful Child" , "Storms", "Beauty and the Beast".
The next question was from some here that posted about this already (Sapphire Sister?) She prefaced it by saying, "Don't get mad, but.." and asked Stevie how she feels about her demos and unreleased stuff being out there. Stevie said a lot of it went out a long time ago when she'd have parties and everyone would be drunk and they'd ask her for a cassette of a demo/song and she's say, "Sure! Here you go!" and give it to them. She said she even managed to get some back after someone she knew found them at a garage sale and gave them to her Mom. People cracked up at that. But then she said not too long ago Karen showed her that "Secret Love" was on youtube before it's release and she was bugged by that, but not necessarily mad. It seemed to me she has mixed feelings about that. She went on to say, she doesn't have "tweeter" as she called it. She doesn't like the "availability" of a cell phone. She said it would make her feel like she has to answer it, and sometimes she "doesn't want to talk to someone for 2 hours!". I was cracking up at her! She said she thinks it's silly to have a twitter account to let people know that you're pissed off because you can't find your shoes, or - now I'm going to the store! She said, "Who cares!" She said you lose your mystery when you do that, and everyone, especially women should have some mystery to them. Then someone asked about touring for IYD and she said YES! She said she was doing shows with Rod Stewart first for about a month, and then she said, "I don't even know yet when that ends...when does that end?" Then, someone behind me (Sheryl Louis) said, "April 23rd, but we could add add a couple dates." Then Stevie said, "I'm not even sure who I'm talking to" and looked in my direction, so I leaned to one side and pointed behind me so she could see it was Sheryl. Then she was like, oh - ok. Stevie said she was going to TRY 4 to 5 new songs on that tour, and she emphasized try. (depending on audience reaction of course) She said she doesn't listen to any of her own music when she's doing a new album because she doesn't want to end up "doing another Edge of 17 again".
Someone asked about how songs end up on FM albums versus Stevie albums. This person also added how he had first heard "Long Distance Winner" on Buckingham Nicks not too long ago for the first time and said he thought it'd be a great FM song. Stevie then belted out, "Sunflowers and your face fascinate me.." then said, "Sorry- what was the question again?" More laughter. He repeated it and she said that all of her songs could end up on either or, depending on what Lindsey thought, etc.

That was the last question I believe. They then told everyone, that even though they are sure they would all like to bum-rush Stevie, Stevie had a schedule and that everyone needed to leave except radio/music supervisors and new artists. So, I hung back for a little to watch what was going on. Most of the people left, and those that were left were led up to her one at a time and shook her hand and got a quick photo that was taken by a professional photographer. No one got a photo with their own personal camera that I saw. So, I decided to wait outside the building for a chance for one. About 20 minutes later they came out, with someone who worked there leading the way telling me sorry, but I had to leave. I asked if I could get one quick photo, and she said sorry but no, that they have their strict orders. I said I understood and shook her hand, thanking her. And that was it. Having a photo would of been awesome, but that's ok. I had a WONDERFUL, DREAM-LIKE experience this afternoon with Stevie Nicks, and I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
YOU GUYS ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS NEW ALBUM!!!! (at least the 8 songs I heard)
Now how the heck am I supposed to go to sleep when I still have a "Stevie High"??:woohoo:

THAT was great, how you captured an amazing moment between you and SN, and how you reacted, and how she reacted to your reaction. I now need to go back and finish reading the rest of what you wrote, but the nod, thumbs up, smile, fists shaking and 'Yes'-- that was very satisfying reading, and thank you. No nuance was left unturned there. It's so great you gave her that reaction and that she was so pleased that her song inspired you to nod and give the thumbs up to her- It mattering to her- Well, forgive my redundancy- but that was one beautifully 'you are there' written passage you just provided me with, jkmaletic. NICE!

It begs the question of why would SapphireSister even say it was on there. If it is not that would be a rather cruel joke to play on us.

Exactly. And Lindsay is a pretty legit Ledgie. She wouldn't lead us on like that. But she did say A Vampire's Dream was played in the trailer. Perhaps she then talked about A Vampire's Dream after the trailer and then Lady From The Mountain was the first full song played? Idk! We need some clarification! So Jamie, was a song like this played???

I can't imagine any Stevie fan not remembering that they heard a new studio version of "Lady From the Mountain"Also Dave tweeted that there are no other vault songs on the album .I have a sick feeling we've been bamboozeled.

Why is everything on here conspiracies and bamboozling? I heard the tracks today. Lady From the Mountain has been morphed into the Twilight song.

No lies. No conspiracies. No bamboozles. Just someone who would like to put the issue to rest.

I am so confused. Lindsay said the Twilight song is the last one on the album and it wasn't played, but part of it was heard in the sizzle reel, yet now we are hearing that Lady From The Mountain is the Twilight song??? I think Stevie talked about the Twilight song and then the first song played was Lady From The Mountain, but IDK.

2 Hours with Stevie Nicks Part 2

WOW! You know, reading all that you shared was as close as it gets to being there, but I DO appreciate the "Stevie High" feelings that you were feeling, as you got to be one of the first people to ever hear this album with Stevie watching and waiting for your reaction. THAT was cool. Little did she realize she had a major fan in her midst to boot. Thank you for sharing so much of this experience with us on The Ledge. It won't be long until we all get to hear it for ourselves, but your first hearing was beyond anything most people ever get to appreciate, and your words show you were totally in the moment.

Yes, this sounds very familiar. I believe it was the first one played, but I don't remember Stevie saying, "Lady From the Mountain". I remember (and wrote in my notes) her describing it as the New Moon inspired song. I suppose she COULD have said "Lady From the Mountain", and I just didn't hear that part. Sorry- I couldn't get everything because as you all know, Stevie talks A LOT. Thank you all for your comments. Another part of why I took notes was for you guys. :wavey:

I barely slept last night. I'm still high from the experience.

Thanks for the information:D. How Exciting!! I think very soon we all will be seeing this "sizzle reel"/trailer & video for SL:blob2::blob1:

This whole LFTM morphing into Moonlight is quite fascinating. I've always liked the demo, though not in my top 10 favorites, but I can see with a little re-tooling this may be quite a treat!

What I would like to know from anyone who attended. On 1st impression, which of the 8 songs stood out the most... and was your favorite??

And what was the overall quality of Stevie's voice/vocals on this new record?? Do they sound as good as Secret Love portends?

I'm really excited to hear "The Ghosts are Gone" and "In Your Dreams." In my mind I am comparing them to Fall From Grace/Planets or Long Way to Go/Ooh My Love or Nothing Ever Changes/Enchanted. Does everyone understand what I'm talking about here?

To me, they were all really, really good. But I especially liked Vampire/Lady From the Mountain, Annabel Lee, Ghosts are Gone, and Italian Summer. In fact, it made me wonder why they chose Secret Love as the first single. I love Secret Love, but these other songs are more, I guess, powerful sounding? Her voice is just as good on the others as it is on Secret Love. I can't wait for you all to see the Sizzle Reel/Trailer because you are going to LOVE it! It made you feel like Stevie's back and better than ever! Dave was right when he tweeted we are going to love it! In fact, after hearing what I heard yesterday, I thought she'd better get some professional recognition for this album because it is amazing!

So cool!!!! Thanx for your impressions:) Not at all surprised that there are better choices for the 1st single, not that I don't like SL, just always knew it was just a very small taste of what was to come.
Did Stevie just leave the melody intact from LFTM, and drastically change the lyrics? Or were both the melody and lyrics altered somewhat from what you remember? Does she use the title "A Vampires Dream" in the lyrics?

Oh, so funny that she sang that bit from LDW. And then she had to ask what the question was again. Giggle.

Thank you Jamie.

Wow, what a great play-by-play!!

I'm wondering if the album cover will actually feature Stevie riding the horse...does she even know how?

Judging by the video of Stand Back The Scarlett version I would say yes and no.

First may I ask from which album this is a demo for and I have to say how I love the buzz and energy around this new album and all the speculation of the songs. May 3rd is going to be a Stevie Holiday LOL

The song is amazing! It's medium tempo. About half way through it I turned around and smiled at Stevie and gave her a nod with a thumbs up. She responded with a HUGE smile and shook her fists like, "yes!" I was on frickin' Cloud 9 guys!! wrote jkmaletic:

NICE!

I loved reading about this moment, too! So glad you got to experience this and had such a cool moment with her.
