I just started the negotiation/scheduling for a "In Your Dreams" promotional event at a Boston night. We have a tentative date of Thursday, April 28.

It would be 3 solid hours of all Stevie, video & audio, played on a fantastic sound system while the video shown via wall-size projection. It would begin at 8 p.m. and there would be no cover.

"In Your Dreams" would be played from start to finished without interuption.

There would be free, official Stevie promotional items (posters, tshirts, CD singles, etc.) There will be some larger items as well. No idea what.

For those of you in the Boston area, what would you like see happen at such an event?

Wow!
I'd like you to have it open to residents of Connecticut and New York and whoever wants to come!
I like swag. I pay for swag. Promo stuff, posters, flats, shirts, mugs, name it. Lots of it, undamaged :)
The thought of hearing 'In Your Dreams' from start to finish inside of a club sounds incredible and worth a few hour drive!
Maybe some trivia questions to win prizes? Maybe 'bidding' on the best pieces of swag to benefit an organization of the club's choice?
Maybe a prize for driving from out of state to attend? Har. Maybe not!

The album doesn't come out until May 3rd. How are you doing this? And how can anyone not in the Boston area help promote the album.

Sorry but I've just noticed your username. From the spelling, is this some mixture of The Heartbreak Kid and the Excellence of Execution?! If so - nice work!

Warner Music Group outsources some of its direct marketing efforts to agencies that specialize in particular demographics. Very often when one sees an advertisement for "CD release party/giveaway" at a nightclub/bar, etc., materials (CDs, promo items, etc.) are provided with the agreement that the club places advertising in a certain number of publications advertising the event and the CD, etc. Too often, unfortunately, most of the materials provided don't get into the hands of customers and the artist's music and videos barely get played.

Right now, the agency handling Stevie's directing marketing for the gay community is waiting on approval for the advance listening party as opposed to just a night of giveaways, which is already approved.

There is still a possibility the listening party could be moved to the Friday following, but there is a hold on the room for that night for a theatrical company that might extend the run of its show. The same for the Saturday. Thursday is free and clear.

For those in the Boston area, it's very likely that Secret Love singles provided to radio and media will be supplied as giveaways. I program this kind of promotion every week and CD singles and remix discs that are manufactured for radio, press, DJs, etc. are usually provided and are often the source of the eBay auctions.

Wow, that sounds great! I wish there was an event like this planned for the Denver area.

I went to a release/listening party for Madonna's American Life album many years back, and had a great time. It was amazing to hear the album in full in a club, and I got a free copy of the whole album and a limited promotional lithograph.

Can you ask Warners to direct some of that direct marketing to the UK?! We get nada here. ;)

The venue for the Stevie listening party is located on Columbus Ave in Boston's South End. It's a 60 second walk from the subway system. It's a restaurant/lounge/dance bar that underwent a major renovation last year. The event will take place in the largest room, which has a full stage and back-drop movie screen, but it's also equipped with several projectors that can be directed at any area of the room, 7 additional flat panel TVs, and new DJ/tech booth and a significantly upgraded sound-system and lighting grid.

I program promotional tie-ins/giveaways at this particular club, as well as a few others, on a weekly basis. A Stevie release/giveaway promotion is definite, but the third party agency, which only has the authority to approve "giveaway/release" parties, is waiting for Warner is agree to a pre-release listening party. (Because this is a direct marketing event, Liz Rosenberg really isn't part of the equation. Reprise's Luke Burland just has to give the okay.) As soon as that happens, I will able to formally announce the details.

And don't go and spend $80 bucks on a Secret Love Cd single on eBay, because it's very likely that those promo singles will be the provided in bulk for all "In Your Dreams" release parties.
