I'm thinking there is a very calculated marketing campaign going on in the Stevie camp:

-Sings duet with Taylor Swift
-Rides on the Twilight phenom, writing song "inspired by"
-Visits cast of "Glee"

Stevie suddenly gets her name in the minds of the people who really do still buy music - teenagers.

Can she be relevant enough to pull it off?

Only if she arrives at the next awards show in a giant egg and comes out with shoulder implants. Which, given her desperate clinging to shoulder pads in every outfit she wears she can FINALLY give them up.

Teenagers don't buy music- they are too technologically savvy. Pre-teens, on the other hand...

I think the one thing going for Stevie is that big, note-bending, octave-leaping singing is just not in vogue anymore; just ask Christina Aguilera and Mariah how well their recent albums sold. The embodiment of everything popular today is Rihanna- her voice is okay, nothing spectacular. She's very cute. She's not a great dancer. She seems to be a sweet girl, but comes across as being a bit dulled mentally. But she has top-notch collaborators, songwriters, producers and mentors. Perhaps a missed opportunity would have been Rihanna doing a cover of "Rhiannon" with Stevie; for crikey sake, she's already namechecked herself in "What's My Name." I don't think there is a girl singer today who doesn't get all gushy and sentimental about Stevie- she's everybody's inspiration; it's about time they let her share in their spotlight!

I think Stevie did the Glee and Twilight thing herself. She is no dummy. She wants this record to be heard.

Can she be relevant enough to pull it off? That might be the agenda of her marketing campaign, but will it put her over with that demographic? No way. After any marketing campaign, you're left with . . . the product. Stevie Nicks has neither the sound nor the look to interest children today. (Olive, above, is correct.)

BUT . . . her album will be a big hit with baby boomers (including the baby boomers who host the daytime talk shows).

Faith Hill said her kids loved Stevie Nicks. Miley Cyrus was into Stevie Nicks. She's like a right of passage for alot of young girls once they discover her. Taylor Swift seemed to like her.

I've actually had a friend of mine say the exact same thing to me. She thinks most every single girl goes through a Stevie Nicks phase in her life.

If the album is as great as those that have heard it indicate that it is the best hope for sales would be to sell to more casual boomer fans or fans that jumped ship during the difficult years. If I was to learn that one of the biggies of my youth that I may have been a causal fan of and bought their records back in the day had just released an album that rivaled anything from their heyday I'll bet I'd buy it.

Good albums don't always sell. Just ask Chrissie Hynde. The Pretenders albums never even reached double platinum, exept greatest hit. The album Last of the Independents (Stand By You) never even went platinum. That was a good album.

You really have to have a dedicated fans base, some hype and some songs that carry the album.

I still think she missed a huge opportunity when she didn't sing Secret Love on Ellen.

I still think she missed a huge opportunity when she didn't sing Secret Love on Ellen. agreed. Last night I watched Piers Morgan's interview with Janet Jackson. I would love for Stevie to sit with him. Maybe if we tweet the recommendation? http://twitter.com/PiersTonight

stevie needs the video, and she needs a grunt blasting to every stevie nicks fleetwood mac lindsey buckingham youtube channel reference there is.

a masthead on youtube, facebook, twitter with a single announcement will not make a dent numberwise (other than diehard fan rehits) nor will 24 stations spinning her single.

stevie needs a genius :D

Today, while my 7th and 8th graders were doing silent work, I put on Fleetwood Mac on the Pandora channel. All of my students were singing along to Landslide and Edge of Seventeen. "I LOVE THIS SONG," "This song makes me so sad," and "I love that Stevie chick" were all lines said by my 12 and 13 year olds.

This makes my day! :]

I don't think Stevie really has to change anything about herself to get popular. Today, you get popular by not being popular. Gaga came onto the scene as some weird evolved Christina Aguilera, but the more strange she got, the more popular she got and before we had time to blink, she was everywhere. Now she is "overrated" and tho she is still very very popular, her initial popularity is fleeting. Justin Bieber got popular because he was this young kid on youtube that could sing really well, he then released an album and BAM, he was everywhere. But now he receives a lot of grief for being so popular. Today's teens are all about being hip and trendy, by not being trendy. It is about listening to those bands nobody knows of or nobody listens to anymore, wearing those clothes that are outside of the norm, and showing you don't follow trends. If Stevie were to autotune the hell out of her **** and try to become the next Lady Gaga, she would fail miserably. She has the unique sound, the unique look, and the distance from today's generation to be well qualified to be considered "cool" because she isn't popular. Throw her elegant gypsy self on a TV show, or have her name come up in an article about a movie and you spark the interest of a few and hope the fire spreads. Will it spread amongst teens? Probably not. But it definitely won't spread if you try to evolve Stevie into one of today's pop artists. I think they will try to market heavily to the baby boomers and the young adults who we children during "The Dance".

Miley Cyrus was into Stevie Nicks.

She's still into her. Just saw a recent pap pic of Miley wearing a vintage Stevie Nicks/The Wild Heart Tour t-shirt. She's been sporting lots of classic rock vintage tees lately.
