There is something very comforting about seeing it as a CD

This is a radio station promo. They almost NEVER have B-sides, unless it the same song remixed a different way (a la Sheryl Crow's remix of "Sorcerer") or another song that's already on the album (Say You Will b/w Running Thru The Garden).
The "Everyday" radio promo didn't have a B-side either...but of course I bought it because I'm a completion-ist. Is that even a word?

Thanks for the link. I agree, there is something comforting about holding an actual CD and a booklet to flip through. You lose so much of that experience with just digital album downloads. Call me old fashioned if you will, but miss the experience of holding a new album cover and enjoying the art and the liner notes/lyrics.

I'm the exact same way... I have an iPod, but have never bought anything off iTunes. I just like having the physical product in my hands.

I'm so with you on this...I guess we're old fashioned sorts (or maybe just old LOL). I need to own this CD single. They did a fantastic job with sprucing up that pics and the graphics!! Amazing.

If I don't really follow/care for an artist but just like some of their songs, I'll just download them off iTunes. But I have hard copies of all of the stuff from artists that I really enjoy.
This would be cool to have.

I guess thats why I still haven't done the 'ipod' thing etc. I like something to hold etc. I'm sure if or once I did do the ipod thing they'll change everything all over again. They like to do that so we can all spend $$ again. You know the progression of things. I may miss some steps but lets see: 78's/?/was it the LP than/45's/8 tracks/cassettes/cds/DVD audio cds/mp3's/DL ---anyway, I'm sure I've skipped something so please correct me. I still like LP's/45's with PS esp and cds. I guess I'm old fashioned as well. Nothing wrong with that.:D

Without seeing the actual disc, do we know it's real? I mean it's easy to make a cover with a blank cd case.

Two more listings have popped up on eBay for the radio promo. I suspect we'll also see a lot more throughout the rest of the year. One of these listings has a picture of the back cover, which is unimpressive as it is just the typical WB black and white label. I thought for sure they'd at least have a continuation of the front cover as a background, like the TISL promo singles had. Oh well.
Here's a picture...

Here's hoping that at least ONE single off the new album will be commercially released, like "Planets" was.

I want one of those badly but at the same time it bums me out that DJ's are selling them without actually playing them on their stations. Phooey!

So it is real.
I'm surprised in this day and age that the record labels don't just provide a download link for stations to grab the latest tracks released...
The stations who receive these cds probably just rip them anyway and program them into their automated rotation schedule and do away with the hard copy.
Did anyone else notice that the single promo cd features the "album version" with a running time of 3:15, which does not support another poster's assertion that the album version would be approximately a minute longer. I was really hoping for a dynamic ending with a stronger, more forceful vocal to ramp things up a little. Oh well...

They must have edited it down after FM77 heard it.

Who knows it could be a misprint too, I have many promo CD Singles that have the running time that is different then what is printed. I don't have this single so I don't know but just saying that it's a possibility. :)

I'm in agreement. I buy a lot of stuff off of iTunes, but certain artists I buy only on CD. The convenience of iTunes is hard to resist.
I'll get a copy of the Secret Love CD in a couple months when the price has come down.

WOW! The auction ended a few hours ago and it sold for $49.88!!! That is nuts! I guess some people just have the money to blow.
I myself will wait for when a bunch of them show up on Gemm.com in a few months for $5.99

If it had a couple of new bonus songs on it I could see paying that much.

The CD single was also sent out to select media.
eBay auctions for promotional CDs go for big money, particularly discs intended for club DJs. Search under "promo CD remix" and sort by highest price first and you will be stunned.

I must have missed this coming out. Used to get the promo cds, but yes, unless there's other tracks on it I don't have an interest anymore. I think a lot of collecting in general has gone by the wayside in the past 10 years or so (says the comic book fan).
On another note...holy crap this is a gorgeous song.

I just got my copy in the mail today. My question is this - who was it who told us that "Secret Love" was a minute longer on the album? Was it FM77 or was it another person (can't remember their name but someone said they heard the song on their friend's laptop)? I also can't remember which thread it was in either, but I specifically remember someone saying it was a minute longer on the album.
I ask because on the promo CD I got, it says "Secret Love" ALBUM VERSION (3:15)
I call bulls**t on whoever said it was longer on the album.

BombaySapphire3 was commenting on what they said they heard in a streaming version of the song RockALittle250 had posted a link to. The link was taken down shortly after, and I don't believe anyone else claimed to have heard the longer version. Even if there isn't a longer version on the album, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist or was fabricated. Remember sometimes we come across alternate versions of songs years after the originals were released.

The ending we are hearing on the 3:16 version of the song is a cut off .It goes on for about another minute which is actually one of the best parts of the song.
Does anyone know if Secret Love as been released to UK radio stations? Haven't heard it!!

Based on how the songs starts and ends I have a feeling that each song on the album just blends into the next one. The result is almost one long song. Sort of like the second side of "Abbey Road".

Same here! It's akin to reading a book on Kindle (or whatever it's called) verses holding the book in your hands, smelling the paper, turning the pages...just a more intimate experience. Granted, I can see the convenience of taking a Kindle on a long plane flight, but if it was book I love, I'd also want the physical edition.

I can't be bothered with CDs or books any more since the ipod & Kindle. I hate clutter and it's just something else to find room for. And digital is so much more convenient. I've gotten rid of 80% of my CDs at this point.
I'll most likely download In Your Dreams from Amazon or iTunes.

I thought I thought that way about books but in all honesty the Kindle was the greatest purchase I've ever made in my entire life.
It's not backlit, so it's not like reading a book on a computer screen. They've really done a great job at simulating the experience of reading a book--except now you can control the font size. The pleasure of turning a page has been replaced by the sense of accomplishment when you compress the arrow button on the side, under your thumb, where you've been holding it the whole time. It's light. It fits in your pocket (in dress pants).
That's not even the best part. As has been said, it removes the need for book clutter. I get rid of my books usually; now I'll have them in my pocket for the rest of my life!
Buying books is brilliant now: no more going to book stores with their limited selections, no more ordering from Amazon and waiting two days during which time you've moved on from wanting to read the book. Now, you order on amazon and instantaneously it appears on your Kindle.
But even better than the best part: It's totally revolutionized the way I interact with a book. I have some books with extensive marginalia, but in my old age, I often don't have a pen on me or I'm not in the mood so I had taken to folding pages to point out significant passages--my books look like oragami, but with the kindle it's so easy to highlight passages and write extensive marginalia.

If I could figure out how to easily and regularly back up my music files, I'd totally switch to iTunes-only. But for now, I still often buy CDs so I have the back up. But I do throw away the cd booklet and case.
