Thoughts? Love it? Hate it? Hate Gaga? Don't care?
I know a lot of people hate LG, but I don't care. Give your opinions. :)

I'm neutral to Lady Gaga and like a lot of her songs.
However, I can't say I'm really feeling Born This Way. Rather than sounding original and unique like you would expect given its title and Gaga's entire persona, it sounds exactly like Express Yourself by Madonna (or Waterfalls by TLC, God is a DJ by Pink, When Love Takes Over by Kelly Rowland, take your pick)....
I listened to it once and don't really care to listen again after :/

It's listenable. Not loving or hating it at the moment.

This song sounds generic to me and it's also a clone of Express Yourself by Madonna. It sounds kinda small and the fact the she ripped off Madonna makes it worse. She hurt herself with this. She lost credibility.

I love every single song Lady Gaga has put out so far but I am not really into this one. Now I have only heard it twice so maybe after the 20th listen I will love it but I am kinda disappointed. I hope the rest of the cd is alot better.

See everyone is going with Express yourself... I think it sounds a lot more like Vogue... At least IMO.
It's good though, I like it

I think it has elements of Vogue and Deeper and Deeper, the song is very underwhelming its OK but that's all.

I hated The Fame, but really liked The Fame Monster. This is disappointing, not what I had imagined.

I like the song but I'm disappointed in it too. I just don't think it's anywhere near the amount of hype that it's received (#bornthiswayfriday has been trending on Twitter all week) and it's just not that original. I think Gaga is an innovative artist, I respect what she does and I like the positive message she's trying to send here, but there's not a whole lot new to it. Plus, yeah, it sounds like a Madonna megamix, which certainly doesn't make it any less enjoyable, but this is Gaga. It doesn't have to.

Never been a fan of Gaga or Madonna. But while we are on the subject, I must say I still love this:

I agree! And thank you for taking us down memory lane. They showed my girl Vivica with 50 Cent twice in the audience.

It's not as good as Poker Face was on first listening, but, I still really like it. I think it's a grower.
No doubt it'll still be a total smash for GaGa though, although, I think that's because of the hype around her, not because the song is particularly amazing. It is good though.

I really like Gaga, I think she's totally talented, and this song shows her voice off better than a lot of her songs, and I'm happy about that, even if it's a bit generic, it's super powerful & inspiring. And I don't find that a lot in today's music, sooo...:wavey:

I have to agree. It's very inspiring in today's music world filled with songs about sex and drugs . Yes, GaGa has had her fair share of songs dealing with sex, but I feel that this record is a brave move for her. She's inspired by Madonna and she knows it's going to get compared to her. GaGa has a great message in this song.

At some point though, inspiration becomes total copying. Lady Gaga is only as big as the people make her, and her fans are the only reason she has made it this far. I find her to be a copy of not only Madonna, but Manson, Bowie, Gwen, etc. Madonna didn't come right out and say "I<3gays!!!", it was hinted at in her songs (Deeper and Deeper comes to mind), and it makes her all that much more sincere. Same with Janet, or any other gay icon. I just can't see why people would love all these things Gaga is doing, and not look up to the past true icons in the same regard. Did Madonna do everything she did, just to be cast aside for an average pop singer? It makes me incredibly sad to see people already calling her the queen of pop, an icon, or legend. Those titles should be earned, Michael didn't release Off The Wall and immediately become the king of pop.

Although Lady Gaga grew on me over time, I pretty much agree with what you said.
I think her popularity is due to a hunger people have for that type of...extravagant showmanship. With Madonna off the scene, there's been a void to fill.

Michael didn't release Off The Wall and immediately become the king of pop.
I was under the the impression the Michael's camp bestowed that title on him. Not that I think any less of him musically. Still I thought Michael kind of crowned himself, as that title just sort of sprung up 1 year......Totally off topic....but just an observation:)

Michael didn't exactly crown himself, but his management did in a way. Elizabeth Taylor called him the "king of rock, pop, and soul" and after that, Bob Jones went on the record and said that he thought of the 'King of Pop' title, which was then after used to promote him.
Regardless, it doesn't make it any less true.

Ok I thought it was management and others. I believe it to be true as well:nod:

Ahh ok, apologies. In that case, let me put it like this, Michael didn't sing ABC and be crowned the kind of pop :p

I'm not a fan of the track, but I don't hate it. I think it's a little overworked, and lyrically it doesn't speak to me, but she didn't write for me - she wrote it essentially for young gay kids, etc. She's sincere about the song's message and vibe, so I get that it's the first single. But, she and her boss, Interscope's Jimmy Iovine, know there are bigger hits on the record. I love the second single, "Judas," as well as other two songs I've heard from the CD, "You and I" and "Marry the Night."
Born This Way is already an international smash. It debuted at #1 on Billboard's Hot 100. Only 18 other songs in 52 years have done that. It broke iTunes sales records, selling 1 million downloads in 12 days.
Does it sound like Express Yourself? Maybe a moment here or there, but I really don't hear Express Yourself in my head when Born This Way is playing. Name a song and there's another hit with melodic similarity. Everyone big has those who can't stand them - for valid and invalid reasons - and they will look for anything to discredit them.
I'm going to see her in Boston next month. I first saw her in 2009 at the House of Blues - and I didn't have a real opinion about her then - but her voice roared through that joint, especially during her acoustic segments. And when the sound cut out during "Just Dance" - one minute into the song - she didn't song, but sang the rest of the song entirely acapella. I have a video of that moment.
FROM BILLBOARD: "Lady Gaga has quickly become one of the biggest stars in music," says MoJoe Roberts, program director of KHOP (@95-1)/Modesto, Calif., which played "Born" 68 times between Friday and Sunday. "This single only helps solidify her place among music royalty."
"It's Gaga; How can you go wrong at this point?," echoes Dom Theodore, PD of WXRK (92.3 Now)/New York (38 plays through yesterday).
The song is an "instant, massive hit," says JB Wilde, PD of WMKS (105.7 Now)/Greensboro, N.C., which played the track 58 times through yesterday. "From the first spin, our phones and Facebook pages exploded with comments."
"WFLZ (93.3)/Tampa, Fla., first played "Born" in the 4 a.m. hour Friday (twice in a row) and 55 times total through yesterday.
