So for my History of Rock N Roll class i started for college we have to do a report on an artist - so i am choosing STEVIE NICKS!! this will be so awesome because for one thing I won't need to do much research cuz I already know so much... any ideas of big important events in Stevie's career I should be sure to include as I know there are so many things...
All I know is that this will be an awesome class. An easy A!
I mean I am forced to listen to music
Going to a concert is a requirement for the class
How much better can it get get for a 3 credit college class!

Last semester I did my project on Stevie! I was also in a History of Rock class! I just rambled on about Stevie joining Fleetwood Mac, mystical imagery, Bella Donna going to #1, cocaine, etc. lol

Hey, only thing that I can add to make sure you do good on this is the fact that I know whenever I try and write academic papers on Fleetwood Mac / Stevie, I always want to just write about most of the stuff that I know because it's common knowledge (at least to me.) Just make sure you cite all of your info and stuff.
I've gotten screwed over with that way too much when it comes to writing about the Mac :)

I also took a History of Rock class and I too had to write a report. However, my paper had to be on the musical qualities of a rock song. I chose Gold Dust Woman and got an A with ease :]

I always include Stevie in my school work.
Last year I had to design an album cover, and this year I drew some Stevie booties in Graphics. I hope the teacher doesn't mind.

For the first time in my career, I mentioned Stevie in a therapy session today. LMAO. It was awesome.

I am beyond jealous. Damn. Which University do you go to so I can hop on a flight and enlist in that class? It sounds so up my street I'm practically it's neighbour :D I adore History and to add Music to it as well is just...ahhh.

Well mine luckily is not a paper, its an oral presentation, so i can use photos and i have sealed copies of Mirage LPs and Wild HEart album LPs (yes the 12"). Maybe I'll make a montage of her videos or something.

the thing that sucks tho, is that its a partnered presentation, so I gotta find someone else in the class to work with and I don't know anyone yet. I wanna just give my presentation from me!

I also did a video montage. That's lame about you having to choose a partner!

From an academic standpoint, focus on the cultural impact she has made. For example, when she went solo, she was only one of few female artists on the front lines in the rock field (Heart being the other).
Note how the Night of a Thousand Stevies is a huge cultural event. Expound on the observation that, while she has had a very unconventional life, she is really conservative in some of her values, and she had a very close relationship with her family.
Focus on the longevity of her career, and how she earned the respect of music community, that in someways, once saw her as a joke. Mention her addictions and her resolve to address them (and maybe her issue with anti-depressants).
Talk about her devotion to the military and her visits to the hospitals.
It's more interesting when the story is not so much about the music, but the story behind the music and the character of the woman who made it.
(These are just off the top of my head...there is lot to work with when it comes to Stevie!)

What did you say?
I was exploring the phenomenon of someone who goes from a long term stimulant addiction to a really hard to kick depressant dependence. The great part was that the client knows and loves Stevie- ha!
Oh, and I have to add that as soon as I said it I thought, "haha I just mentioned Stevie in a session!".

So I went to the local record store. I got awesome copies of "Fleetwood Mac", "Rumours" and "Rock A Little" 12 inch LPs for my Stevie project for visuals, also got Bella Donna too, but im mad because they put the price stickers right on the LP covers so when i peeled it off it peeled off some of the artwork. I wish they would put the LP in a plastic thing and put price sticker on that or put a little sticker on the back of the LP - not on the cover. Now my Bella Donna LP looks like crap. I already had seeled copies of "Mirage" and "The Wild Heart" LPs

I have to say that doing this Stevie Nicks project, I have fallen in love all over again with Stevie. I was a huge Stevie fan but lately a more casual listener. Now I been getting all the albums and missing songs and been non-stop Stevie for me and I could never get tired of her!! Now I'm more excited for the new CD. Right now listening to "Beautiful Child" which is one of those Fleetwood Mac songs i thought was too slow and.. (gasps) boring but I am starting to appreciate the beautiful ballads... I love it!!

So I met with my partner for my Stevie Nicks project and she had no idea who Stevie was. She was telling me how she went online to look up who Stevie was. So I guess I'll do the project and give her the lines to say.... for the presentation.
