So knowing now that Secret Love is one of the vault songs, what do you think the additional one should be if there even is another one? Not necessarily your favorite demo but one you think would fit the tone of the album knowing what we know.
I'm honestly not sure what I think so share your opinions/speculations!

I'm pretty sure Annabel Lee will be on there. I dunno if that & Secret Love will be the only two - they're might be one more.
There are lots I'd *like* to see her do:
- Cecelia
- China Doll
- Lady from the Mountain
- Baby Doll
- If You Were My Love
- Starshine
- The Dealer
Some have speculated Lady from the Mountain will be on the album.

Is Annabel Lee considered a "vault" song? I thought it was written more recently for TISL? I really hope there is one more!
I will be pleased if it ends up being LFTM.

I'd KILL for Stevie to put Lady From The Mountains on the album, out of all my favourite demos, it's the one song I can see her doing total justice to. As much as I'd love to see her redo All The Beautiful Worlds, it's already pretty much perfect as is. While I think LFTM has so much untapped potential.

All the Beautiful Worlds is by far my favorite demo/outtake but it's so perfect I'd be destroyed if proper justice was not done to it.
3 Birds of Rhiannon would be my choice AND it would be an ode to the original Rhiannon.

'Space Needle' simply has to be on the cd, is that a given? It's proof of her still stirring ability. How it could not make the cut, I don't know, it was perfect.
That said, in all the imperfection of 'What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You,' I am really hoping Dave Stewart took his love for the RAL era and improved upon the demo to produce a killer version of it as a homage to 'fun Stevie' for the new cd, it could be so much fun still, even if it should have been on a cd 30 years ago! And she sure could belt it out on stage in whichever register she chooses, these days, and it would likely be a crowd pleaser. I'm seeing- or hearing- more and more, what you all mean about that change in her live singing, belting certain notes out, but perhaps in the wrong spaces. That was 'SB' on Ellen to me, last week.
'China Doll' was beautiful. '24 Karat' had hooks in the demo that sometimes her released songs don't have.
I guess I have to give up on 'Jimmy Come On Back', but how I loved the skeleton, I really heard the possibilities in that one, it was so Motown and yet so Stevie. I just think it never will be finished, the time isn't right for her to sing it anymore, is my guess. I'd love to be wrong, but really 'Jimmy' was just a treatment or an outline of a song, but I thought it had a lot of possibilities.
'What Has Rock and Roll' might just have needed a producer all along such as Dave who loved RAL SN, so if it's not on this cd, I don't think it ever will be on one.
All of the above would be fine with me. I never liked "Cecelia" so that one I could live without, though it seems popular here. 'She Loves Him Still' is maybe my favorite of all, but the feelings of the composer whose music she wrote the lyrics to have been well-covered here, so I don't expect it to be on the cd. If there's 12, or 14 songs, I will be happy with 4 great rockers, but whatever the songs are, and whatever style, I can't wait to hear it.

There are several outtakes in addition to the demo... one from Mirage, one thought to be from Street Angel.

If there is only one slot left I'd have to go with "Lady From the Mountain" from Stevie's vocals and the production on "Secret Love" the time is right for this song.

Wow. That Street Angel version of IYWML really sucks! You can almost hear the Klonopin taking hold!
IYWML really is a good song, though. I love the early demo with just piano and vocal. I'd be interested to see what she/they could do with that one these days.

I'll go with Three Birds of Rhiannon. I think it's her best demo and I don't want her trying to sing it at 75. However, I really, really like Lady from the Mountain. Very atmospheric.

Like I've said in other threads my first option would be for her to take a demo I'm not fond of and turn into something great like Secret Love but as for my pick of song that I really love already and want to be included and for that matter be her new show closer:
Mistaken Love

Watch Devil? Really? It's not really much of a song, IMO. Space Needle is interesting, but it's too long & meandering.
Songs like Julia & All the Beautiful Worlds were basically completed songs that just got bumped, so I don't foresee those ever being redone.

I'd personally LOVE to hear 'Space Needle' I think it really somes up a great deal of Stevie's sad times over the past 15 years or so... She hasn't really had the heartbreaks of the past to write about recently.
My guesses:
1- China Doll
2-All The Beautiful Worlds
3-Lady From The Mountains

In November 1984, Ginny Kamano listed the title as "She Still Loves Him" in an early track listing for Rock A Little. She probably knew.
Which, by the way, is the way Stevie sings it the very first time in the song and the last 3 times in the song.

"She Still Loves Him" ~ Stevie Nicks
No one heard her call his name
No one heard the sound she made
They would not like it much anyway
To know that she still loves him
No one understands this love
No one ever will
'Til his dying day
Not even he himself can change this
She loves him still
I miss my friend
I miss the sound of his laughter
She remembers him saying, "Well, where are you going?
Just what is it that you are after?"
No one understands this man
No one ever will
'Til his dying day
Not even he himself can change this
She loves him still
So, how are you?
Have you learned to deal with it?
"Oh, no," she says, "No, I have not learned"
You see, I cannot deal without it
So the flame still burns
The flame burns on
No one understands this love
No one ever will
'Til his dying day
She was heard to say
She loves him still
And the sands of time like shattered glass go past her...
She still loves him
Oh, no, they would not like it much anyway
But she still loves him
And the sands of time like shattered glass go past her
Straight back to the sea
She still loves him
She still loves him

Here is Lady from the Mountain
Some call her stange lady from the mountains
And then others say she's not really real
Like a candle burns bright,
wants to burn faster
Then maybe that candle really feels
really feels
Lady from the mountain
You love her
But you love your life alone as well
But do you know the road
Or the reason why
If you lose her
You'll be losing the chance to stay alive
The candle burns bright
Then the candle dies
Lady from the mountain
Oh go with her
You know that you want her
Then you could use a dreamer
Somewhere on your side
Then maybe the woman could make you crazy
Did she call out
Did she say please save me
Tonight...tonight....tonight...
Lady from the mountain
Some call her strange lady from the mountains
Then others say she's not really real
Like a candle, burns bright
Wants to burn faster
Well maybe then that candle really feels
really feels.....really feels
Lady from the mountain
Then go with her
You know that you want her
Well you could use a dreamer
Somewhere on your side
And maybe if that woman could make you crazy.
Did she call out
Did she say please save me
tonight...tonight
Lady from the mountain
Burning out....Burning out
Then go without it
Burning....burning....hopefully learning
Burning out...burning out
Then go without it
Burning...but you're hopefully learning
Lady from the mountain

I would DIE If she finally released this song. They wouldn't have to do much to the arrangement. Except remove Mark Knofler's guitar playing>who supposedly banned Stevie from ever releasing this great, sad, but poignant song. I think it very well may be her saddest song ever! But FM77 just dashed any hopes of that :(

Three Birds of Rhiannon (Maker of Birds)
A bird that is not mine
Three birds that belong to her
One emerald green, one snow white
One golden, flashing like a sunbeam through the night
One golden, flashing like a sunbeam through the night
When at first he saw her
It seemed she had no name
She sat alone, and it seemed to him
That the light and the face were the same
Her hair shone, streamed blond and gold
He thought, "Maybe I'm going insane"
Her gown was no more than the water could cover
This time would not come again
And the white mares dance
And the lady asks
"Take my wisdom with you as you ride
If you kill the dark Lord of Death
Someday, I shall be your wife
Someday, I shall be your wife"
And the birds are still singing
And the song is now sweeping
Like a silver, a silver shimmering flood
For you, Rhiannon
I would fight, I would fight the world
For you, Rhiannon, I would fight, I would fight the world
For you are in my blood
For you, for you are in my blood

Love You Enough
You look at me and I know you've not forgotten
Still make me laugh in the laughter we were lost in
I still love you, though we cannot be in love
But when I see you, I just can't get enough
When I see you, I just can't get enough
I look at you, and I know you have not changed
Still in my dreams, and still they're all the same
I had to let you go, they say all the doors are shut
But in my heart, I will never give you up
In my heart, I will never give you up
Oh, I'll never be able to love you enough
Though my spirit lies deep inside your soul
No, my love can never be tempted or be bought
And my love for you will never get old
I guess we tried to close our eyes
Ooh, but we are not children, though we try
You are not old, I am not wise
But when it was, it was fine, fine
But when it was, it was fine
Oh, I'll never be able to love you enough
Though my spirit lies deep inside your soul
And my love can never be tempted or be bought
No, my love for your will never grow cold
Baby, never grow old
Oh, I'll never be able to love you enough
Though my spirit lies deep inside your soul
No, my love will never be tempted or be bought
Oh, my love will never get old
Darling, never grow cold
Darling, never...

If I cannot breathe, then I cannot dream

Searching for silence that brings in dreams

Have they flown so very far?
No, they're just asleep
Therein, therein, herein

You never loved the softness in my soul
And yet you stayed with me so very long
You said you did not have to be told
And I moved on...
With him it was so different than before
It seemed that he could see right through my soul
And I wanted him, yes, I wanted him much more
And I said, "Angel I adore"
And I moved on
I took my dreams and my love
I went quietly, silently slipping away
I tried hard, but glass figures do break easily
China doll
It breaks my heart to see
And I went dancing up to him
With rhinestone eyes that said, "Well, I'd like to know"
I flew with the stars, I was with him
With him, with him only meant alone
And I moved on
I took my dreams and my love
I went quietly, silently making my way
I tried hard, but glass figures do break easily
China doll
It breaks my heart to see
I said, "It's been so long since I've been held"
And he said, "I could hold you for days"
He made love to me with his eyes especially
I smiled to know I'd finally found a place
I'm going home
I'll take my dreams and my love
I'll go quietly, silently making my way
I'll try hard to love him more than anything
China doll
Lady I adore
China doll
Lady I adore
China doll
Lady I adore

"Love You Enough" does sound like it was recorded in the same era of "Secret Love", Castaway, Watch Chain, etc. These very possibly could be on the same cassette that Lori, or her assistant went back to Phoenix to retrieve for Glen & Dave. Though we already know about "Secret Love", the others can stay locked in the vault IMO.
At this point I wanna hear the new songs, BUT would have to say I would love to have her take a stab at these:
#1 Forest Of The Black Roses (Just gorgeous and hauntingly classic Stevie ballad)
#2 Chanel, Chanel - could fit her voice very well still
#3 Lady From The Mountain (like someone mentioned-this has so much untapped potential)
#4 Forsaken Love - always a favorite since 1st hearing it decades ago on "uncirculated rumours" bootleg
#5 At The Fair or She Call You Missing - Two great RAL era throwbacks!
Then......
Space Needle - Though they would have to slice and dice some verses...But it's good as is. Someones favorite verse(s) inevitably would end up sadly on the cutting room floor.
Christian - what about your sad wild dreams...
City Of Hope
All The Beautiful Worlds - Great as is & would be surprised if Stevie could pull off the vocal today. I say save it for "Wild Heart" reissue (fingers and toes crossed), Same goes for Julia/The Dealer and "Bella Donna" reissues
As a side note about vault songs:
After hearing "Smile At You" and "Goodbye Baby", and to a lesser extent "Running Through the Garden" & "Sorcerer", I'm quite content for Stevie to leave her vault songs in the vault. Having said that, I am content with Secret Love - for what it lacks in intimacy from the demo, it makes up for in atmosphere and delivery. TISL's "Planets Of The Universe" and the No Light piano demo/Rumours outtake to me are 2 totally different songs, that I love for very different reasons. Candlebright is OK, but I think Sheryl should have made it more acoustic and less dense. The demo has a simple beautiful melody, But Sheryl's production made Stevie belt away much of its brilliance. While Sorcerer was made into a Sheryl Crow song complete with her cheesy trademark percussion at the time, not completely awful...but not great. I would have preferred The Wild Heart instrumentation and production of the Marilyn Martin "Streets Of Fire" version. Makes me wonder if "Sorcerer" was recorded for "Wild Heart" or most likely RAL. Could Stevie have just stripped her vocals (except those left in the background) and had Marilyn add hers for that soundtrack the summer of 1984.Hmmmmmmm was this a Mirror, Mirror/RAL original ?? Can you even imagine a 1984 era full vocal for "Sorcerer"!!! I just gave myself chills.

I find it hysterical that they sent Lori or Karen back to Phoenix to go dumpster diving through Stevie's rubbish pile when all they had to do was go to YouTube and type in the search terms "Stevie Nicks demo." Boom: every Stevie demo under the sun. I'm surprised that Dave Stewart, who seems to be quite proficient with online media, didn't try this.

If I cannot breathe, then I cannot dream

Searching for silence that brings in dreams

Where have the white birds flown?
Have they flown so very far?
No, they're just asleep
Therein, therein, herein

If I'm not mistaken, I don't think there has been a "vault" song (i.e., from the 1970s - 1980s) on a Stevie album in 20 years that hadn't already circulated in demo form previously (I don't count "Reconsider Me" since she did not write it). I would be surprised if there is anything written from that time period that we haven't already heard. For some reason I suspect that the vault isn't as deep as we'd like to think it is.

And If I'm not mistaken the only Stevie albums that do not contain vault songs are Rock A Little and OSOTM. Though there is speculation that Stevie wrote RAL before Bella Donna - but I'm not sure. I remember reading an interview after Wild Heart was released that August that she was going to call her next record RAL, and she had just written the song. That's why I am skeptical about her ever naming her 3rd album Mirror, Mirror:shocked: I know it's shocking to the fan community to say that aloud. But all references in any Stevie interview or published music rag from 83' til it's release in 85' had Stevie's 3rd solo album titled RAL. I think a Stevie Nicks fanzine may have gotten the wrong impression when Ginny K. reported that Stevie recorded a song titled MM, and maybe for a split second they may have even considered it. But I aways go back to that August 83 newpaper article where Stevie named her next record Rock A Little, I remember vividly cause I though it was an odd non-Stevie sounding title. Oh just remembered "I Sing For The Things" could very well be a vault song. So that leaves OSOTM as the only album never to look towards the blue crystal vault. And I don't consider Juliet or WLT vault songs as they were both written after RAL was released.

It was also published in the random notes section of RS summer of 84' that Bruce Springsteen contributed "Don't Lose Heart" (as in BS demo "Janey, Don't You Lose Heart" ) but was not confirmed if it would be included. Jimmy was really going to town soliciting songwriters for material for Nicks' 3rd album. He hit up Zevon, Springsteen, D. Stewart, Bernie Taupin/Martin Page ("These Dreams") & rumored co-writer Mark Knofler (She Still Loves Him). He must have had reasons to be concerned that Stevie was not only having major writers block but decending into drug-adled delusions of grandeur. Being that only 3 self penned Nicks songs were unveiled upon RAL's arrival. I'd say it must have been true. If we could only get a great un-authorized Biography of Stevie one day.

"I Sing For The Things" was most definitely a vault song by the time RAL came round to be recorded. If you listen to the earliest of piano demos for it, you'll notice Stevie still has Rumours/Tusk high pitched voice.

The piano demo of "I Sing For The Things", the earliest known version, is Late 1981 (on the Masters Reel). Stevie & Ginny both have said "Rock A Little" was written in the Summer of 1981.
Three Birds of Rhiannon (Maker of Birds)
A bird that is not mine
Three birds that belong to her
One emerald green, one snow white
One golden, flashing like a sunbeam through the night
One golden, flashing like a sunbeam through the night
When at first he saw her
It seemed she had no name
She sat alone, and it seemed to him
That the light and the face were the same
Her hair shone, streamed blond and gold
He thought, "Maybe I'm going insane"
Her gown was no more than the water could cover
This time would not come again
And the white mares dance
And the lady asks
"Take my wisdom with you as you ride
If you kill the dark Lord of Death
Someday, I shall be your wife
Someday, I shall be your wife"
And the birds are still singing
And the song is now sweeping
Like a silver, a silver shimmering flood
For you, Rhiannon
I would fight, I would fight the world
For you, Rhiannon, I would fight, I would fight the world
For you are in my blood
For you, for you are in my blood
This is not on there either.
Here is Lady from the Mountain
Some call her stange lady from the mountains
And then others say she's not really real
Like a candle burns bright,
wants to burn faster
Then maybe that candle really feels
really feels
Lady from the mountain
You love her
But you love your life alone as well
But do you know the road
Or the reason why
If you lose her
You'll be losing the chance to stay alive
The candle burns bright
Then the candle dies
Lady from the mountain
Oh go with her
You know that you want her
Then you could use a dreamer
Somewhere on your side
Then maybe the woman could make you crazy
Did she call out
Did she say please save me
Tonight...tonight....tonight...
Lady from the mountain
Some call her strange lady from the mountains
Then others say she's not really real
Like a candle, burns bright
Wants to burn faster
Well maybe then that candle really feels
really feels.....really feels
Lady from the mountain
Then go with her
You know that you want her
Well you could use a dreamer
Somewhere on your side
And maybe if that woman could make you crazy.
Did she call out
Did she say please save me
tonight...tonight
Lady from the mountain
Burning out....Burning out
Then go without it
Burning....burning....hopefully learning
Burning out...burning out
Then go without it
Burning...but you're hopefully learning
Lady from the mountain
Lady from the mountain

Julia
I will ride through the snow
In an old-fashioned carriage
Drawn by a small, golden horse
She runs like the wind, yeah
When I run through your door
I am freed from my slavery
And the fires will be burnin' long before
You return to me
For in my house, there's no teasing spirits
No false laughter
No one has to tell me to be there, no one
I'll be there
I would suffer for the love
I would suffer for the love
And I would cry to be moved
I do two things these days
These nights, Julia is no fool
People ask me, they ask me, say
"So, Julia, just what is it that you do now?"
She does two things
Oh, in the light of the sunset
She does the stars
She does you
I love the stars
I give to you what I love
Who is the child
Who disregards all your rules?
I would suffer for the love
I would cry to be moved
I do two things these days
These nights, Julia is no fool
People ask me, they ask me, say
"So, Julia, just what is it that you do now, do now?"
She does two things, two things
Well, in the light of the sunset, yeah
Stars...she does you
No fool....
She does two things
Woah, in the light of the sunset, yeah, yeah, yeah
Does the stars
She loves you
She loves the stars
She does two things
She loves the stars
Ooh, yeah, yeah
Ooh, now, Julia, yeah, yeah
I would suffer for the love
Suffer, yeah, yeah
Suffer for the love
I would cry to be moved
I would cry...And I would cry...
She loves the stars
And she loves you

My Heart
Shadows and the first sign of life
Lifted my heart, as if some kind of wings
Lifted me up, and so became
Your face, your name
After all these years, it's still the same
And you're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
You understand, it's all the same
Windows, like the eyes to the soul
From across the room, and the crowd fades away
You stand alone, like nothing's changed
Your face, your name
After all these years, it's still the same
You're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
And you understand
It's all the same
My heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
And you understand
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
Ooh, and my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my heart still cries when someone speaks your name
And you understand
It's all the same
It's all the same

Are You Mine
Are you mine, all the time?
Stay up with me through the night?
Will the lovelight always shine
In your eyes, just like in mine?
Will you share the good and the bad?
Bring me joy when I am sad?
Tell me, darling, are you mine, only mine?
Are you mine?
(Yes I am)
All the time?
(Yes I am)
Are you mine alone?
(Yes I am)
All my own?
(Yes I am)
No one else would ever do
I'll be yours, I'll be true
Don't worry, dear
Have no fear
'Cause I'm yours
Are you mine, (yes) all the time?
Stay up with me through the night?
Will the lovelight always shine (lovelight)
In your eyes, just like in mine? (My eyes)
Will you share the good and bad? (Your eyes)
Bring me joy when I am sad?
Tell me, darling, (Tell me) are you mine, (mine) only mine?
Are you mine?

All the time?

Amber
When I was young, I can remember the day
When far off in the distance, I heard someone say
"You've a daughter, born a Gemini, name of Amber
Born today"
Always be Amber
Remember...look inside
Be forever, tiny lady
I remember...
Beautiful daughter, when you were mine
Gemini Amber, your color was brown
The sign that I gave you in May
It's Gemini, Amber, your arms open wide
Who'll protect you from the things that you say
Always be Amber
Remember to be kind
Be forever, beautiful daughter
I remember...
Brown eyes in Amber
When you were mine

Baby Doll
My girlfriend saw my husband
They're comin' 'cross town to get me
He's been gone five years or more
And expects me to be waitin'
Oh, Lord, help me buy the train ticket
Tell me, what have I got to sell?
Oh, a pink satin dress and a silver tray
And an abalone shell
Runnin' out the back door, tryin' to get away
Almost at the river, you'll never catch me now
Oh, say it all, say it all
So sad for you, sad baby doll
Oh, well, I watch you walk away
And I still hear you say, yeah
"Let the phone ring off the wall"
I could ask you to come back
It wouldn't matter at all
I could scream out that I am right
You could refuse my call
And I could cry in the middle of the night
Cry in the middle of the night
Cry in the middle of the night
Wouldn't matter at all
Out the back door, tryin' to get away
I'm almost to the river, you'll never catch me now
Ooh, said, say it all, say it all
So sad for you, sad baby doll
Oh, as I watch you walk away
And I, I hear you say
"Let the phone ring off the wall"
Oh, yeah, wouldn't matter at all
I could call you up
Wouldn't matter at all
I could cry, cry
I could cry in the middle of the night
Woah! It doesn't matter at all
No, it wouldn't matter at all
You say it doesn't matter at all
It doesn't matter at all
In the middle of the night
(What did you want?)
I could ask you to come back
But that wouldn't be right
(What did you want?)
I could scream out that you were wrong
(What did you want?)
You refuse to fight me
(What did you want?)
I could cry in the middle of the night
Cry in the middle of the night
Cry in the middle of the night
Wouldn't matter at all

Anybody Out There
Sittin' here and asking
Myself, "Where did I go wrong?"
Try to find the reasons
Somehow, I can't go on
Anybody there?
Any time, anywhere
Anybody's here
Close my eyes....
Be not aware
Livin' in a maze
Stoned out on artificial pleasure
Movin' through a daze
I can't seem to get myself together
Anybody there?
Any time, anywhere
Anybody's here
Close my eyes....
Be not aware
Tell me all the answers
This silence is killing me
Was it all a plan, Sir?
Good God Almighty
Set me free
Set me free
Good God Almighty
Set me free
Anybody there?
Any time
Anybody's there
Close my eyes....
Be not aware
Anybody there?

Understanding what it is that is happening
And what it is, and what it is not
Ooh, we can see the dreams before they see us
We can hold them deep within our hearts
Sometimes she's a fool but you want that feeling
It is sad, it is earth-shattering
Even just a look makes her turn away
With the feeling
Dial the number
Dial the number
Dial the number
Dial the number
What would I do, well?
Where were you when I needed you?
My broken-hearted promises are broken now
Even just a smile, it makes her turn away
It was not another lover
God knows that I tried
Always searching for that feeling
You know that it lies waiting somewhere
It goes deep into the soul-defying places of the heart
Dial the number
Dial the number
Ooh, of the heart...
Dial the number
Dial the number

Forest of Black Roses
And she walked into the forest of the black roses
Stood for everything she had ever loved
And each fold in her long black dress
Was just as soft as the petals of a rose
If this is to be my punishment
I will live it out, as in a dream
And go each day to the forest of the black roses
And stand each night as tall as a tree
Stand each day as tall as a tree
And the days, they go by
Doing nothing about them
How much time
Will I have to spend?
And she goes each day to the forest of the black roses
Stands for everything she had ever loved
And she asked herself
"Well, just how much must I give away?"
Anything...I love him that much

What would I do
For just some time with you
Don't give that to her
Baby, give that to me
What will you do
When the thrill is gone, baby?
Don't give that to her
Baby, give that to me
Oh, where have you gone
Have you gone so far from me?
Feelin' your touch
On the edge of my heart
What will I do
In the thrill of the night, baby?
Don't give that to her
You remember my words
All the beautiful worlds that I have seen so far
Have all fallen down
Ooh, it used to be yours
Come, beautiful child-like victim
Come, beautiful child-like victim
See through the heart of you
I know where it goes
And I know what it means

Chanel, Chanel
I know how hard it is to keep promises secret
Real secrets, the hardest of all
Well, I need to go, but the free spirit has been sold
And now she's gone
As you leave the shore
Ohhh, remember there is always a chance
You may never return
Take your time
Push down your walls
Well, I have run from places where I could not speak
And neither could I breathe
Well, I wake up in the middle of the night now
I need to know
Lady traveler
Leave the room the way it was
Well, the scent I left...
Well, they can't stand up in the darkness
Ooh, Chanel, Chanel
She was herself, she was not his
She was not anything that she had loved
Because he would have lost if he had loved
And never yet found
What they both were, no
Such a beauty...
Woah, love can never be lost
All he knew is there was something there
Woah, as his hands leaned against her side
Ooh, that feeling from the past
Well, that is something that she understands
Oh, lady traveler
Leave the room the way it was
When they fall
And they can't stand up in the darkness
Oh, take your time
I remember a man, well, he said to me,
He said, "What do you do?"
"I sing"

At The Fair
She remembers a time
When there was something inside them
And they did not hide it
No, it wasn't that they're weren't in love
But everything that they loved
They found at the fair
Since everything that he loved
He found at the fair
Ooh, and the doll that he wanted
Well, he should have left her there
Since everything that he loved
He found at the fair
And the beautiful doll that he wanted
Well, he should have left her there
Home became a glass cage to her
She remembers a time
There was no music, no freedom
No friends of mine
Well, it wasn't that they weren't in love
It wasn't that he did not care
It's just everything that he loved
He found it at the fair
Well, everything that he loved
He found at the fair
Ooh, and the doll that he wanted
Well, he should have left her there
Since everything that he loved
He found it at the fair
And the beautiful doll that he wanted
Well, he should have left her there
In the beginning
She remembers a time
When there was something inside them
And they didn't hide it
It wasn't that they weren't in love
It's just that they forgot
Because everything that he loved
He found at the fair
Well, everything that he loved
He found at the fair
Ooh, and the doll that he wanted
Well, he should have left her there
Since everything that he loved...

Belle Flower
Men and women livin' in a canyon
Canyon dancin' all night long
They form a circle, hand in hand
Are you with me, lady stranger?
His voice rings, "Are you looking for a man?"
Will you dance with me?
Will you dance with me, baby?
It's only love, it's just love
Will you dance with me?
Ooh, ooh, Belle Flower
This is no ticket for dreamland
A garden for fevers to grow in
As I run through the door of the long black car
Belle, will you dance with me?
Will you dance with me, baby?
It's only love, it's just love
Wll you dance with me?
Belle Fleur, Belle Flower
Will you dance with me?
And the days go by
So do I
Sun sets down, sunrise
Sing to me a lullaby
Sing to me of the daytime
I will sing you a story of moonlight
Will you dance with me, baby?
It's only love, it's just love
Will you dance with me, baby?
And the days go by
So do I
Sun sets down...sing me a sunrise
I will sing to you of the nighttime
Sing to me a lullaby
I will sing you the story of moonlight
Will you dance with me, baby?
It's only love, it's just love
Ooh, Belle Flower

Have No Heart - This would be thrilling for her to do now and it's certainly fits the cinematic theme Dave Wild suggests, also it was part of the TISL demos that surfaced along with "Annabel Lee"
She was fourteen now, in a year, fifteen
Now she was a princess, soon she'd be a queen
She had no friends; she remained far apart
They were afraid of her
She had no heart
And she asked the little man to dance
And he loved her instantly, they say
Enough to even give up his life
Living without her
Not be worth living
And the other children danced with her
He was the one she sang to
Sometimes she let him hold her in his arms
And she would taunt him
"Who are you anyway?
'Cause you are no one to me at all"
"Why will he not dance again?" she cried
"Is he dead or is he in a trance?"
If he had lived, well, he might have made the king smile
But he died of a broken heart
"Well, in the future," said she
"Send no one to me who has a heart"
She was fourteen now, in a year, fifteen
Now she was a princess, soon she'd be a queen
Then she'll have friends; she won't remain far apart
Maybe someday
She will find a heart
'Cause living away from her
Just not be worth living
No, living away from her
Would not be worth living
No, living away from her
Just would not be worth living
She says, "Why will he not dance again?"
If he loved her enough to give up his life
(Not be worth living)
'Cause living without her
Just wasn't worth living
Maybe one day
She will find a heart
Have a heart
Be worth living
Please have a heart
It's not worth living

Well in a few weeks the truth will be known. Does anyone besides me suspect "In Your Dreams" track list will be unveiled Feb. 3rd or soon thereafter?
I can tell you that NONE of the lyrics listed here are on the album. I KNOW there is a vault song left within the track listings because it was described as such and it sounds like vintage Stevie. I said it was my favorite song on the whole record. I said it's a 14 song disk and 2 songs are being cut for bonus tracks. At the time I heard the record it hasdn't been decided which were getting cut. Believe whatever you want.
There are some major douches on this board.

Joking, yes? None of the lyrics from Gypsy Beggar are in The Nighmare, or vice versa.

The track listing somewhere on this board is pretty accurate--14 tracks with at least 2 unkown titles. As I said, I did not have TITLES only track listings but I heard the disk several times so I know the songs. I have said previously that the track listing shown on the board was correct even though it was incomplete. I have said this is a great record--way, way better than anything after Wild Heart.

You know, when I saw this thread I thought it'd be easy to choose one, but I honestly have no idea. Maybe all the Beautiful Words, since that's always been a favorite. But the thing is, so many of these classic demos (3 birds of Rhiannon), are so perfect and pure that if it were redone, it might lose its preciousness!

I intially was one of the first to brand FM77 a troll..but he/she gave a very accurate descrption of "Secret Love's" production before any of us heard it so...
Wherever that track listing is on the board however, had the wrong sequencing. Secret Love was the first track on my disk. Not that it matters but Italian Summer is not a first track.

... uh, not really. All he/she said was that it didn't sound like the demo and that the vocals were upfront in the mix, which is something you can pretty much say for every fricking song she has ever put out . In a real judicial court, let alone the court of public opinion, nobody would consider "it was very good" to be compelling testimony. That's all that he/she has said thus far. Not a single concrete shred of specific information. This is what trolls do. They come online trying to seek attention and stir sh*t up unnecessarily. Seriously, we need to stop feeding this one.

Lyrics you cannot seem to remember nor can you seem to even think of what any of these songs would be named.. Nor have you even explained how you had the opportunity to hear the album. Yes, you said there are 14 tracks. We've known that since August. Yes, 2 tracks may be cut, but that is always a possibility. Yes, there's lots of guitar. It is Dave Stewart, that is expected. And it is way better than TISL... that is an opinion, and David Wild has already said it is in the top two things she's done. So again, no substantial info we didn't already know. Perhaps you have heard the album, who am I to say you haven't? But until you provide material information, I'm done messing with you.

Alrighty now, FM77 is losing more credibility, I cannot see Secret Love kicking off the record. If "In Your Dreams" is a super catchy, uptempo cut as described by Rolling Stones' David Wild. It seems like a no brainer to open with the title cut. She always has when the title track is on the upbeat side of things, which Street Angel was not.

Wasn't there a Master Reel Tape titled "Film Score Tracks" or something similar? I do believe it had "Blue Water", "WatchDevil", "LFTM" and "Forsaken(Mistaken)Love" on it, as well as a few others? Someone help me out here.
I know in her Q magazine article from 2008, she said that she is still planning to do the Rhiannon film project (I'll believe it when I see it ;) ) so maybe these songs are being saved for that? Possibly? It might explain why they've never appeared on any album.
If she ever does get around to the Rhiannon movie (and the Goldfish/Ladybug cartoon, and the autobiography) it probably won't be til after she stops making music.
...in my opinion...

Mistaken Love (forsaken love)
My soul has soared, I have reached great heights
But the ground is further than I thought
I'm afraid of falling, this is a strange feeling
I fear I have given up
I never did love easily
But I easily loved you
And I loved with such intensity
As the sea moves with the moon
Taken love
Taken love
Taken love
I've ridden with you within the wind
As I am riding away with you now
I'm beginning to understand your pain
And it forces me to withdraw
And now the tears dry on my face
And leave behind them only ashes
And the beauty of you was just a dream
Of memories, earthquakes, and flashes
Flashes, flashes, flashes, flashes, flashes
Forsaken love
Taken love
Mistaken love
I waited, love
I waited, love
I waited

Well, NONE of the songs anyone posted had angel in it...I have a feeling the song I heard is old lyrics with a new feel because the track feels very un-Stevie but it is super cool. I think I already posted the lyrics to My Heart and didn't say it was on it.
He said the song contains the lyrics: I used to think that you were an angel

I used to think that
you were an angel
The only lyric that comes close in my recollection is "Ooh My Love" - "there was a time when...he called her "angel" AND there's no way she rerecorded that song it's already been released.
These lyrics sound like a new song, not a vault song unless its one that was never leaked/bootlegged:shocked:

I'm replying to my own post. I just found a huge list of all the master reels and came across this one...
Music Film Score - 1/4 inch reel. Includes Blue Water, Rhiannon ("birds rising" piano demo), Forsaken Love ("I've a strange" piano demo), Forsaken Love (piano demo)
So maybe "Lady From The Mountain" WASN'T one of the Rhiannon songs. Hopefully we WILL see it on one of her solo albums in the future then. "Blue Water" and "Forsaken Love" might be lost causes if they are Rhiannon songs and in fact being held for that film project. Of course, this is just my own speculation...

I dunno. I believe him for some reason.
"I Call You Missing"?
"You used to call her wicked...
She used to call you friend..."
Maybe changed the lyrics up a bit?
No, "I Call You Missing" and "Love Is Like A River" ARE NOT the same song.
So, there are three other songs to add to the list above that we know are on the album:
New Orleans song
Twilight song
Wide Sargasso Sea

Mike Campbell has said she did two of his songs. I don't think we are getting another vault song and "My Heart" was the only unreleased Campbell song that I think we have knowledge of. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Dave Stewart called me up, and he’s working with Stevie Nicks. He’s doing a record with her. And over the years, I would give Stevie some music here and there. And Dave said, “She’s got a song of yours that she found and she wants to record.” And so we got together and changed a few things and made it better and went in and cut that. In the course of that, I had this other piece of music I gave her and she wrote a really great song to it. I’m really proud of it. So I did that last week. A couple of songs with them, and that was a lot of fun.
This would mean the track listing is:
1. Italian Summer (Nicks/Stewart)
2. Wide Sargasso Sea (Nicks/Stewart)
3. Annabel Lee (Nicks/Stewart/Ballard)
4. The Ghosts Are Gone (Nicks/Stewart)
5. Everybody Loves You (Nicks/Stewart)
6. The Soldier's Angel (Nicks)
7. For What It's Worth
8. Cheaper Than Free (Nicks/Stewart)
9. In Your Dreams
10. Secret Love
11. New Orleans song
12. "Twilight song"
13. Mike Campbell Song #1
14. Mike Campbell Song #2

Thank U for that. And besides...we all have a finished outtake of "My Heart" in our collections. To me, it may or may not have been better to include on TISL instead of "That Made Me Stronger" or "Too Far From Texas"...It was ok. But it doesn't warrant being re-recorded and included on the new record. It was good listen, but nothing extraordinary. And not single-worthy as many have remarked IMO.

"For What It's Worth" is one of the Mike Campbell song's that Stevie wrote melody/words on top of. In addition Dave Stewart may have contributed some other parts as well. Dave said Stevie found a song of Campbell's that she wanted to do, So Mike came in... they recorded it and Mike said "they" made it even better! Mike also contributed a newly written song that he loved & Stevie wrote a song to that as well. One of these is "For What It's Worth" the other one is unknown as of now and is NOT "My Heart".

You Like Me is the only Mike Campbell vault song I know of, and it was recorded/covered in 87' by Williams Brothers who connectedly wrote "Some Become Strangers"
You Like Me (Written by S. Nicks & M. Campbell)
Don't read your words into my words
Don't let the weight on your shoulders pull you down
No matter what you heard
Don't you believe everything that goes around
Oh, your rage I see through
You like me, don't you
You can't hide the feeling
Your lies I see through
You like me, don't you
Don't read your words into my words
Remember the words...don't do it
Wrote me a letter of hate or of love
Well, I could do without it
You stand there and accuse me
And you want to know "Who is it?"
Well, you ought to know who is it
Oh, your rage I see through
You like me, don't you
No, you can't hide the feeling
Your eyes I see through
You like me, don't you
Never say I don't need you to love me
'Cause I need you to love me
And as hard as I try...
You know you can't hide the feeling
You like me, don't you?
You like me, don't you?
You can't hide the feeling
(You can't hide the feeling)
Your eyes I see through
(Your eyes I see through)

Others would know better, especially if I'm wrong, but I think it's possible that Mike Campbell could maybe have written the music to 'What Has Rock and Roll Ever Done For You'- I know that it's generally considered to be a 'TITN' out-take, but also came upon a thread that suggests that it is not Fleetwood Mac on the demo we've all heard.
I know it's a longshot, the song is sooo 80's, but still, with Dave Stewart's love for RAL and his statement that they took an old Mike Campbell track of which there had been a demo and made it better- who knows. Here's one thread about the song:

You know now that seems pretty apparent that other vault song is a Stevie Nicks/Mike Campbell collaboration, I don't care what it is.
At least I found out what is not on the album. Kinda sad about certain songs not being on there. But Secret Love is a major suprise. I just hope she kicks the duds off the album. NO DESERT ANGELS! NO PAPER DOLLS! NO QUESTIONS ASKED! NO WELCOME TO THE ROOM SARA!!!!!!!

I think it's too early to worry about the Twilight song or the New Orleans song being duds.
While the subject matter does give the impression of another Desert Angel or Paper Doll - only moodier, I think it's worth mentioning that Trouble In Shangri La was inspired by the OJ Simpson trial - and it's great song.
The Twilight song could be great - we'll never know until we hear it.

I can see how some would consider the lyrics a bit on the cheesy side but if you listen to them with the overall message of the song are they really all that bad? I find it compelling and heart-felt with a really important message.

Paper Doll does have the circus sound, but that could be easily eliminated and it could be rendered less a novelty and more sublime in a heartbeat.
That said, I'm kind of soft on the original version, especially with the video that accompanied it.

"For What It's Worth" FM77 - who has come forward & has allegedly heard "In Your Dreams" several times in its full 14 track pre-edit form posted yesterday re: New Orleans & Soldier's Angel songs:
"I do not know what will get cut as bonus tracks but if it were me I would not cut the New Orleans song or Soldier's Angel. Again, what I was given to listen to was not an official disk but a generic CD. I think In Your Dreams was 2 or 3 on the disk. I thought for sure this would be the single when I first heard it."
As far as "That Made Me Stronger", I think it was included on TISL in large part because of its narrative. It served almost as the major talking point for Stevie in almost every promo interview for TISL, and was as Stevie describes it at the time - a pivotal moment that was the impetus for dusting herself off and writing again for TISL. Some fans like this song very much, I find it average and filler at best, and wish she had not pulled Thrown Down (aka wall of sound version) and placed it in TMMS place. That would have made TISL a near perfect album IMO, not to mention TD would have been the singular promo song.
And "All The Kings Horses" is a nifty little demo. I quite like it:)

I sorta like the meadering music to it, but I had a huge problem with that song, Paper Doll and No Questions Asked being on any type of greatest hits. These are full-blown skippers to me. I think Stevie has a huge heart too. Apparantly, Illume was about 9/11, but if your going to write a song about tragedy, don't make it about yourself.
I think she has trouble writing about certain events. However, subject matter such as witches and such are no brainers for her. They are part of what she sees herself as.

I don't think she has ever written a song that wasn't about herself. Even a tribute song like "Jane" was less about the anthropologist than it was about Jane's impact on Stevie. And even songs written in the third person with pronouns like "she" are written about herself. I think this is all just fine and dandy- I would hate to see Stevie completely detach herself from the subject matter of her lyrics. Part of her charm is her absolutely unabashed self-indulgence.

LOL this is true. I think she is best when writing about relationships she was in. Granted Rhiannon was not like that, but Secret Love is. The reason why I really like the song is it's lyrics. She obviously knows what she is talking about it.
Remember that the "cut" songs will be available as bonus tracks on iTunes or whatever so even if a song you like gets cut, you will still be able to buy it. That's what I was told back in Dec. Soldier's Angel is awesome. It is NOTHING like Desert Angel. I would be shocked if her fans did not like this song.

"Illume" was written in 1999. In January 2002, she reworked parts to reflect 9/11, adding in lyrics from her journals about being in New York then. So, it is about Stevie, especially initially.
Mike Campbell wrote the music for Stevie's "The Dance", which is the copyrighted title from 1992 (known to some as "Old Fashioned").

Well, in all of the interviews she has given about 9/11, it was all about Stevie. How she was on the front lines of this national tragedy and how frightened she was (albeit, in her penthouse suite at the Waldorf Astoria, several miles from Ground Zero  ). How she gave food to the firehouse down the street. How she found the courage to carry on her tour when other acts were too freaked out about traveling. It's all Stevie, Stevie, Stevie 24/7.

Hahaa really?! Weird! I swear she said this somewhere! Someone must have the quote!

Oh, I don't doubt for a second that she said it; in fact, I also remember reading this. I'll bet she was actually smelling the secondhand cigar smoke wafting from the penthouse suite next door.

This is what she said in USA Today:
I was in New York on 9/11 during my tour. I've never been a political person, but suddenly I felt like I was in the middle of history. We were at the Waldorf with all these foreign diplomats. It was very scary. I watched people jumping (from the twin towers) on a Mexican TV channel. We put wet towels in the windows to keep out the burning iron smell. Illume is a poem about 9/11 and about getting through it and getting back home.

Ok, Back on topic...What do u guys think of the "Mix Down (aka Love and War)" song as the other possible Mike Campbell composition along with For What It's Worth" for IYD, If this were on the record it would kill 2 birds with one song-Filling a vault song selection AND be the 2nd MC collaboration.

Mix Down
Well, I'll beat you in the long run
I'll beat you to the mountain
I'll beat you at your own game
And you'll never be the same
I'll be there when I'm not there
And I'll be gone when you think that I'm with you
Two can play at this game
But one can win
So go on, throw the dice, then
Go on, have a go
Well, I remember when it was everything
Runnin' 'round in circles
"Oh, well, it sounds like she's in a circus"
Said the grandmother
"Something like that" said the father
And I'll be gone when you think I'm there
War is war and fair is fair
"What's fair anymore?" she says
Nothing's fair in love and war
Mix down, live it up
It's hard enough just to stand out
It's easy enough just to give it all up
Mix down, live it up
Well, it's hard enough just to stand out
And it's easy enough just to give it up
Well, I'll beat you in the long run
I'll beat you to the mountain
Then I'll beat you at your own game
And I know that you'll never be the same
I'll be there when I'm not there

And I'll be gone when you think that I'm with you

But only one can win
Go on, throw the dice, then

Well, Christopher and I are both just trying to narrow down the possibilities of the two Mike Campbell co-written songs on In Your Dreams. The 3 we know of from the Vault:
"You Like Me"
"The Dance"
"The Mixdown"
Of course, "You Like Me" is the obvious choice! And, hopefully, it's one that Stevie and Dave chose. And, of course, there could be others we have no clue about. But just going on KNOWN unreleased collaborations between Stevie & Mike, those are the three songs out there.
And I'm betting one of those three made it.

The thing with Mix Down is you kinda have to look beyond the outtake, especially considering its beyond the deep klonopin era. She is bascially, save for one part, phoning in the vocal. But Mike said in an interview last year that Stevie pulled out an old song of his and they made it even better. I can see them revamping the whole structure and Stevie swapping in some different lyrics...It could happen.
"You Like Me", on the other hand would be simply delicious. Another uptempo, fiery and fiesty rocker in the same vein as Fall From Grace, Long Way To Go, Freedom etc.:]

Is Castaway ruled out, entirely? I'm trying to think of demos that have the word ''angel' in them and that one keeps coming back. "There are angels running from the heartless".

No its not on there. The lyric I gave for the song I heard is at the end of the chorus.

But is that lyric added to older lyrics?
"I used to think
You were an angel..."
That could be added in LOTS of songs, right?
"I Call You Missing" (completely separate song from "Love Is Like A River" ~ BOTH were recorded for Street Angel!) seems like it could fit. And there's an angel in there:
"I Call You Missing" (Music & Lyrics by Stevie Nicks)
You used to call her wicked
She used to call you friend
You say her life is wild
Compared to what lifestyle?
Some call it love
Some are above that
She burns a candle for him every night
She says "It's worth it"
And the angel said "You must have had a dream
And you remember it"
And the dream followed through
'Til the end of the dream, 'til the dream came true
When I want something, well, I get it
Who understands? Well, that's not fair
Well, what do you mean that's the way it is?
"Sorry, sorry," he said
No one ever said this would be fair
And life begins again, outlaws are gone
I return to the very same place
It's just the same way that it was
Well, you can't say no in the middle of the night, oh, no
You can't stay home, givin' up the fight
Well, I care about it Saturday night
She calls you missing again and again
She calls you missing, missing, missing
Again and again
She calls you missing, missing, missing
Again and again
She calls you missing, missing, missing
Again and again
She calls you...
No one said that this would be fair
Then there are the frightening, laughing demons
More frightening than the razor's edge
So the angel said "Well, well, you must have had a dream"
Her heart is broken
Who understands? Well, that's not fair
What do you mean, that's the way it is?
"Sorry, sorry" he said
Well, no one said that it would be fair
Well, no one said that it would be fair
Well, the angel said, "Well, you must have had a dream, baby
You can remember it"
When I want something, I get it
Woah, the end of the dream then the dream came true
When I want something, I get it
Well, no one said that it would be fair
When I want something, I get it

Agreed totally - after seeing that she copyrighted it in 1995, I have to wonder if the song was inspired by her experiences on the Street Angel tour...which makes it kind of sadder than it was.

Definitely. I do recall her talking about how mean people were regarding her weight, and these lyrics:
I remember the loss of enchantment
In everyone one I'd see
Seeing my own face in each one of their faces
Looking back at me
Seem like they could be interpreted as her perspective of the audience at her concerts.

I just uploaded You Like Me, since *shocker* this rare gem has not been posted on the Tube yet. I can totally imagine Stevie singing these lyrics in her wry and ragged RAL era voice. It would have been pure heaven:). Perhaps Stevie's recording of this song is in a vault somewhere. Remember "Reconsider Me" was pulled from the vault and that song was not in circulation in the fan community that I know of. Imagine all the songs locked away we have never heard.:(
Anyway this is for those who have not heard "You Like Me (Don't You!)"

For some reason this Heartbreakers-style backup music and arrangement, circa Belladonna, makes Stevie sound really low rent to me, and brings out zero in her music or voice.

Well, the whole song is PERFECT for me, no changes necessary. It's supposed to be insane and sad and dejected. Sound quality is excellent on mine, too (from the "Demos/Live Requests!" thread). I can't imagine it being improved.

Retouched??? Nope. I have been blessed (or cursed) with a great ear for autotune. I know when a vocal has been retouched with that horrible piece of crap technology. I DO hear autotune in "Secret Love"...but it was only used for one word, which is highlighted in bold here...
"Come on it's time to go outside, but I don't want to be leavin' you here..."
That's it. Just the one word. My guess is that it sounded a tad sharp or flat depending, and they didn't notice it til mixing. It really doesn't make very much of a difference, though.
I despise autotune. Don't even get me started on the cast of "Glee". With the exception of 1 or 2 cast members, they are ALL autotuned. Stevie. on the other hand, doesn't need it.

Surrender to my touch
When you've had too much
The wine lingers on your lips
You took too many sips
If you are still broken
With empty thoughts inside
I will be your anchor
With me you can confide
When it rains on your heart tonight (chorus)
When what you feel is no delight
Just turn to me in your damp despair
I will help, I'm always their.
Your not flocking with the seagulls
Your pain you spare us all
Just wish that I could comfort you
Wish you'd make that call
When it rains on your heart tonight
When what you feel is no delight (CHORUS)
Just turn to me in your dark despair
I will help, I'm always their.
By Tuesday it is morning
For Monday's come and gone
Still your left in silence
Baby tell me what is wrong
When it rains on your heart tonight
When What you feel is no delight (CHORUS)
Just turn to me in your dark despair
I want to help but you never share
Tuesday, left us nowhere
It too has left us now
Still I couldn't give up on you
I never could bow out
Wednesday was the new day
The day you shared the truth
You cried for sobriety
It never came so quietly
Living with the alcohol
was punishment too long
For all you ever wanted
Was me to sing along
Sing with me now,
Sing for every one
Sing for the 12 steps
Sing to save someone
I'll save you and your regrets
If you are disparaged
and feel you are alone
this song is pouring for you
to help you get back home
Now your free with your heart tonight
Your sober now so its alright
If you fall back in despair
You know who I am
I will meet you there

The wine lingers on your lips
You took too many sips
If you are still broken
With empty thoughts inside
I will be your anchor
With me you can confide
When it rains on your heart tonight (chorus)
When what you feel is no delight
Just turn to me in your damp despair
I will help, I'm always there.
You're not flocking with the seagulls
Your pain you spare us all
Just wish that I could comfort you
Wish you'd make that call
When it rains on your heart tonight
When what you feel is no delight (CHORUS)
Just turn to me in your dark despair
I will help, I'm always there.
By Tuesday it is morning
For Monday's come and gone
Still you're left in silence
Baby tell me what is wrong
When it rains on your heart tonight
When What you feel is no delight (CHORUS)
Just turn to me in your dark despair
I want to help but you never share
Tuesday, left us nowhere
It too has left us now
Still I couldn't give up on you
I never could bow out
Wednesday was the new day
The day you shared the truth
You cried for sobriety
It never came so quietly
Living with the alcohol
was punishment too long
For all you ever wanted
Was me to sing along
Sing with me now,
Sing for every one
Sing for the 12 steps
Sing to save someone
I'll save you and your regrets
If you are disparaged
and feel you are alone
this song is pouring for you
to help you get back home
Now you're free with your heart tonight
You're sober now so its alright
If you fall back in despair
You know who I am
I will meet you there
What is?

My Heart
Shadows and the first sign of life
Lifted my heart, as if some kind of wings
Lifted me up, and so became
Your face, your name
After all these years, it's still the same
And you're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
You understand, it's all the same
Windows, like the eyes to the soul
From across the room, and the crowd fades away
You stand alone, like nothing's changed
Your face, your name
After all these years, it's still the same
You're not to blame
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
And you understand
It's all the same
My heart still stops when I stand before you
And my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my eyes still close when someone speaks your name
And you understand
Well, my heart still stops when I stand before you
Ooh, and my heart still breaks when you take my hand
And my heart still cries when someone speaks your name
And you understand
It's all the same
It's all the same
I'm listening to this song as I type this - one of the greatest she's ever done ...

I agree. It has a lot of passion and energy. It's a shame it has been shelved.

I was always amazed that she turned down a Bruce Springsteen song, or that Bruce would ever write/offer a song to Stevie.

For some reason this Heartbreakers-style backup music and arrangement, circa Belladonna, makes Stevie sound really low rent to me, and brings out zero in her music or voice.
Love this take! Can you post an audio version for download?

What is this?
I suspect something unrelated to Stevie.

Can anyone post "My Heart" in a different format? I tried the link and my MAC is recognizing it as a text file. Everyone raves over this song and I would love to hear it.
Maybe a fellow Mac user can help me out?

I'm not a huge fan of Bruce. I thought his Born in the USA album was an overblown pop attempt at commercialism and it worked. He's in that group of people that get shoved down our throats. I liked The River, and some of his other stuff but I wouldn't pay to see him concert. I'm just sick of people telling me who to like. U2 is the same way for me. In the 80s, they weren't that special. They were far outweighed by other groups. However, in the 90s they were Gods. I won't listen to groups or artists like that. I like to make up my own mind about who and what I like.
Stevie is not below Bruce when it comes to songwriting. Her songs have held up just as well, if not better when it comes to him. They come from different perspectives. It wasn't exactly posh for a woman in the 50s and 60s to pick up a guitar and write songs. It had to be hard. She was severely criticized for being different. She was the only female in the 70s who succeeded at creating a rock n roll character on a big scale. Dave Bowie did it, Kiss did it, but she was really the only woman. Bruce has the working class people on his side. She has the dreamers.

Thanks! I've always had some hate for My Heart because I felt the production was weird and somewhat muffled. After downloading this one tho, I realize it was just the version I had. IDK why, but the one I have had for all these years is the exact same, but the music just seems to be much lower quality. I suppose the one I've had had probably been converted several times before I downloaded it? IDK  but I am glad you posted this amazingly clear one!
