Rod is Scottish not English
Well, he was born in England but he has Scottish and English 'blood'. I think he defines himself as Scottish -- which is fine with me -- but he wasn't born here (i.e. Scotland, where I am just now).
But yeh, I don't know if Rod gets as sick as the 'English means British' as we Scots do. Stevie will know soon enough when he shows up in a Jimmy wig, ripped to the t*ts on Buckie and roaring 'Flower of Scotland' outside her dressing room every night.

Haha that's funny, if this is the case then Rod probably didn't want to embarrass her on the show by saying, "Uh, Stevie, I am Scottish." Lol. She would have died.

That's funny. It sounded like a question to me. I must have missed the accusatory undertones.

Thanks for the stereotype there! Haha.
Rod is English. He doesn't identify himself as Scottish, just as a Scottish football fan and therefore says he feels agreat connection to Scotland. I'm not saying this out of any "anti-English" crap (if we're going by "blood" then my dad's side o the family are all from the south of England) just for accuracy.
Have to say though, the Britain/British = England/English thing drives me MAD!!

Yes, it's a complicated thing in Scotland. I put 'blood' in quotes cuz I think it's BS. I stand corrected on Rod's self-identification. You're right, it's footie-oriented, he doesn't claim it otherwise (tho who cares anyway?). But he does have Scottish ancestors.
I used the stereotype for comic effect, that's all. Not that it gives me licence, but I'm Dundee-born, of a Scottish father and Irish mum. All mongrels together in Scotland, mostly, just like everywhere else.
PS - Is there anything more retarded than the lengths one has to go to sometimes to demonstrate that you're ok with things???:lol:

yeah i posted the same thing in the ellen thread: i was convinced he self-identifies as scottish. he had some phases when he would show up in various tartan shawls etc and kicking football. but then i checked wikipedia and his father is scottish, mother english, and he was born somewhere around london.
