Rod Stewart, Stevie Nicks To Tour North American Arenas In March
January 12, 2011 – Touring | Rock & Pop
By Ariel Watkins
Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks will come together for the upcoming the Heart and & Soul Tour, a series of North American arena performances scheduled to begin March 20 at the Bank Atlantic Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
Thirteen dates had been confirmed at press time, including visits to such major-markets as New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Tampa and Montreal. Stewart and Nicks will play hits from their catalogs, as well as new material.
"We haven't begun rehearsals but I can already tell you this, with Stevie on board our audiences are in store for an evening of pure rock 'n' roll music," Stewart said in a news release. "I'm already thinking about which of my old favorites to bring back and vocally, I think we've both begun thinking about which songs might be great fun and well-suited for a duet or two."
Nicks is touring in support of her forthcoming album, "In: Your Dreams," due May 3. And Stewart is coming off of a series of successful concerts, which included sold-out appearances at Las Vegas' Colosseum At Caesars Palace and a 33-date European tour. In 2010, he released "Fly Me to the Moon…The Great American Songbook, Volume V," which has sold 286,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Tickets for the Heart and & Soul Tour go on sale beginning Jan. 21 through ticketmaster.com. Tickets for the April 1 show in Montreal will be available through evenko.ca and tickets for the April 5 Philadelphia date will be available through comcasttix.com. American Express card members will be given the chance to purchase tickets early on Jan. 17.
Here are the upcoming North American tour dates for Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks:
March 20: Bank Atlantic Center (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.)
March 23: St. Pete Times Forum (Tampa, Fla.)
March 24: Philips Arena (Atlanta)
March 26: Madison Square Garden (New York)
March 27: Mohegan Sun Arena (Uncasville, Conn.)
March 30: TD Garden (Boston)
April 1: Bell Centre (Montreal)
April 2: Air Canada Center (Toronto)
April 5: Wells Fargo Center (Philadelphia)
April 9: United Center (Chicago)
April 10: Joe Louis Arena (Detroit)
April 15: US Airways Center (Phoenix)
April 16: Hollywood Bowl (Los Angeles)

So "In Your Dreams" is the title!:distress:
I was really hoping for something more creative/inspired...something that didn't include the word "Dreams!" It's so generic, so expected and typical, and I'm so disappointed.
"These Dreams" was a song Bernie Taupin (Elton John's amazing lyricist) wrote specifically for Stevie. She rejected it and it went to Heart, who had a huge hit with it. I often question the many ill-fated decisions that have been made in Stevie's career. But you can't know a dream until you've known a nightmare...and there have been way too many dream references.

Madison Square Garden? Hm, that's a large space. Wonder if a Stevie/Rod Stewart bill would fill it. Almost sounds more like a summer 'shed' type of show, though I think those sheds are getting bigger and bigger (along with their ticket prices)
Um... Rod plays there (or used to play there) by himself. Now that he's doing rock music again, I think his fans will be crawling back out of the woodwork.

Wow... this is so cool... I'm happy and sad at the same time.. It's a sort of curve ball thrown into this mix... and to be frank, I didn't think it would happen. I can see why Dave Stewart has been kinda quiet... He's likely a little pissed off. But it's nice to see Stevie performing solo in these huge arenas!

I was going to go visit my mom in FL in March. She's not far from Ft. Lauderdale...hmmm..And then i could go to the MSG show.
And from what Dave S. says, she is probably going to tour behind her new album later in the year, right?

I was worried at first (about the limited dates and her not touring on her own), but I think you're right. It's probably one of the reasons the album release got pushed back to May 3 also. This appears to be just like what she did with Henley with "Two Voices". She can also promote her new album this way by singing at least one of the new songs.
As for me, the closest show is Hollywood Bowl, which being in LA it would be hard to get decent seats for considering all the industry people likely to be there. So I think Im gonna wait until she does her own shows.
Thanks for helping me to re-assure myself!! :D

This is tons of info at once- my brain is kind of dead. I'm hoping for a solo summer tour because I won't be seeing Stevie with Rod. The album title is kind of blah, but maybe she'll really embrace the whole "In Your Dreams" as a figment of someone continually showing up in your dreams.... as opposed to the sarcastic type term.

Agreed! I listen to some of her duets with Don on the Two Voices tour and I wish I had seen one of those shows soo bad. I think Hotel California, New York Minute, and Last Worthless Evening would have been beautifully chilling to hear live. Who knows what songs she will sing with Rod, but hearing them both do Maggie May, The First Cut Is The Deepest, Have You Ever Seen The Rain, Have I Told You Lately, or Forever Young would be life changing.

Any hope they will make it to Denver??
That will be entirely up to the promoter. I suspect this will not be a cheap ticket and there are markets that economically likely won't support the show. It's a win/win for SN though...she gets to play arenas and either stay out with Rod or take the money and go back out with her band to support the new record.

I often question the many ill-fated decisions that have been made in Stevie's career.
Who knows, maybe her recording of "These Dreams" wouldn't have been a hit. Some things are not meant to be. Regardless, her career seems to be going pretty well when you compare it to most other classic rock acts. who are playing at fairs and wouldn't conceive of making a new album.

I'd love to go to the first show, but it's the Sunday of South by Southwest weekend, damn it! Hollywood Bowl is very tempting...I saw the Thompson Twins there back in the 80s!
Yeah, that WOULD be awesome. I'm just excited there's a Tampa date! :blob1: And Ft. Lauderdale! Right off the bat too.
