I've never done Cocaine.
But we all know she was doing that and boozing.

Cocaine + Booze + Twirl = Fall

She fell of the stage on the RAL tour, but I don't recall whether or not it was twirl-related. I don't think it's inconceivable that she would lose her balance, but from the many shows I have seen, she hasn't missed a step. She is a master class of twirling.

Twirling/dancing/rocking out aside...I would think it would be hard to just get around stage in those boots avoiding cables, mic stands, equipment...and all while being buzzed! It's amazing she didn't fall all of the time.

Anyone who's worn high platforms knows it takes skill to move around in them, muchless twirl. That took time for me. You don't realize how huge boots like that are to walk in until you have one shoe off, and one on standing up straight. They add a good 5 or 6 inches or more to your height.

You have given me a horrible case of the giggles

If anyone falls in-- *BAM!*

Random audience member: Now that's gotta hurt!

She also fell in 2007! But I think she backed into an amp and tripped over it, not mid twirl.

I did hear about this.

Damn her. Perfection all the time. :D
not falling during twirls.

You'd think once, just once.
The Stand Back shawl would like... nevermind. She's perfect. It happens :D

She fell during Gypsy in L.A. on the 1983 tour. She was carrying a cat, & she fell during a twirl & went tumbling to the stage floor. We gasped! She got up & said, "Cat unhurt."

This reminds me of an urban legend that people tell about Johnny Carson interviewing Zsa Zsa Gabor, who just happened to have a, cat, on her lap and asked Carson if he wanted to stroke it.

Why the hell was she twirling, while carrying a cat on stage?!

I'm just picturing Stevie stepping up to the mic and saying, "This next song is called If Anyone Falls." and then we see her give a spin and dive off the stage...with her long flowing shawls drifting behind her. hahahahahaha

Maybe she was attempting to get the cat to speak to the audience like she did later on with the dove in Red Rocks?

There are no words to describe how much this whole thread has cheered me up :L Does anyone have a video of her falling? It'd be quite funny. I feel bad for finding it funny but she knows we all love her anyway :L

I think a better question would be "Why the hell did she have a cat on stage full stop".

All the shows I've seen her at, she's always moved about the stage freely and with grace in those boots. I do remember at a Cincinnati show she was talking in between songs to the audience and had the GDW shawl in her hands after the song and while in mid chatter a stagehand walked by and grabbed it out of her hand and it startled her for a second and was a funny little moment.
