Who the heck knows? Can anyone decipher the twitter feed going on around Dave's page. It's a bit confusing. It reads to me as if Rod is a surprise for Dave as well:shocked: It would be STRANGE if Dave is hearing this 1st through Stevie's fans and not from the source herself!

His retweet to me "yeah they jumbled up the stewarts" Then he said to avoid the confusion as a clarifier that he would not be on Ellen. Assuming that he will still be touring with Stevie. Online communication can be hard to read at times.

On a positive note regarding the new record Dave Stewart responded back to David Wild - who tweeted "Can't wait to hear which songs made the Stevie Nicks album. That's a non-subtle hint"
To which Dave S. replied "Ha yeah well we can't seem to decide as we love them all so they will all come out in one way or another ;)"
Gotta love that. Looks like we will get bonus material/B-sides on some format or another...

Boy, I don't know. Sounds like Dave found out through Stevie fans/the media about the change in Stewarts. The least Stevie could have done was told him he was being thrown under the bus. I tell ya, with every year that passes the less and less I feel like supporting this woman.

Let's not jump to conclusions. Dave is a teaser and has quite a sarcastic streak in him, so he could be saying these things in jest.
Now, he did say he would not be on Ellen, which is a pretty strong confirmation, so who knows?
And i have to think, Warner Bros. and her management could have given Stevie an ultimatum: If you don't tour with who WE want, we will only spend X amount of dollars in promoting your album. With Tom Whalley out of the picture, Stevie has one less advocate in that company.

His response was "Who said I wasn't"?? My reply was "The rumour is Stevie is touring with Rod Stewart".. They are also appearing on Ellen...Is this true??? He has yet to answer...A simple Yes or no I will or will not be Stevie's opening act would quickly clear this up...But you know Dave he likes to keep us guessing...All this is in the "She's touring with" thread...

This is batsh*t nuts!
The Ellen taping is four days away. I am guessing SN and Rod won't perform together on the show, or they'd be in rehearsals, and I would think there'd be a leak by now. For Dave not to have known and seemingly now not be involved with the Ellen taping makes me think we may not hear a new song at all next week.
It's all pretty interesting.
Means nothing, but I have replayed 'Annabelle Lee' twice today and keep thinking Rod is going to wind up singing on it on the cd, that it seems like a RS song! Means nothing.
I just wonder if 'Dave Stewart' wasn't a selling point in any tour negotiations, and someone said 'Rod Stewart, maybe' and it started there?

Why would Ellen have 2 musical guests on the same day though? Now that Dave has confirmed he will not be on the show and if Stevie and Rod are... they most likely will be announcing a tour together ala James Taylor & Carol King last year which was a successful hit pairing of 2010.
On to release date speculation, Dave just tweeted now his album will be out in MAY. And reiterated once again to a Stevie fan that her album is due late spring. So it's looking like MAY could be the month. So if that's the case Jan.13th does seem a little soon to be debuting a new song for an album 4 months away.

Stevie is with WB, and they still control the ballgame, folks. This is why so many artists eventually go to a self-label or smaller privately-owned labels. I can tell you that WB does not see Dave as a big draw on the tour circuit. Rod is. It's all business at this stage. Stevie's creative say was in making the album.

We can't know everything -- or much of anything, based on 140 character tweets.
After the love fest Stevie and Dave have had over the last few months, I don't think she would abandon whatever their plans are without a heads up to him. I don't think she's done anything behind his back. If she was backing out of something or changing her mind about future plans she'd let him know. I think she values him a little more than she does Jana Anderson.

There is that good old saying, "All publicity is good publicity." Perhaps Dave is egging on the confusion to make the bloggers go wild with this whole story that was created out of nothing. Who knows? Because I agree, I don't think Stevie would abandon Dave in such a way. Especially with all he has done with connecting with her fans. Without Dave, I don't believe there would be really much interest in her new album at all.

Hmm, this would lead me to believe that Rod is touring for his greatest hits album in Feb and March and Stevie is touring with him to make some more cash and then her album will be debuting in May. However, Stevie and Rod are on different labels, so it makes NO SENSE. Therefore, I say the rumours are BS.

Dave is definitely not in the dark on this one...he's playing coy and many are taking his bait. But I won't bite just yet because I know that there has to be some logical explanation for this whole scenario.

LOL
Dude. Stevie & Rod are touring together because, in tandem, they'll (if all goes according to plan) pack the kind of venues that will enable them to earn their desired paychecks.
For package tours with veteran/nostalgia acts, labels don't mean anything. Its the promoter (almost entirely independent from the label(s)) that drive the road dates.

Good point. Perhaps I am terribly naive, but it just seems that WB is extremely controlling, and they would not let Stevie Nicks be the opening act for a Rod Stewart American Songbook Greatest Hits tour. The only way I could see it happening is if it was a coheadlining tour and Rod wasn't going to sing his American Songbook BS.

Ok, where is the May release date coming from... or is that just personal speculation? God, this whole leadup is gratingly annoying!

I can't see a tour between Rod and Stevie at all... They are just too different right now - and unless Rod skips his American Songbook promoting - like you said, which I doubt he'd do, and reverts back to playing his classics, they counter compliment each other... Imagine, Stevie opens the show, gets the audience all fired up with her Rock N Roll, only to then have the audience all sit down and listen to Rod come on and sing "Fly Me To The Moon" or "Moon River" for the next two freaking hours... Talk about a downer!
I'll believe it when I see some facts... We are taking a post from a Stevie fans friend as fact and running with it. Has anyone found any mention of a Rod/Stevie tour anywhere but here? And I can't see Stevie leaving Dave in the dark, or abandoning him... His speculated "frustration" may be derived from the fact that he isn't allowed to set the record straight until the time is right.

Ehh, the longer this thing is stalled, the more likely it'll get leaked. It's already making the celeb rounds... all it takes is one celeb assistant to rip mp3s and throw them out to the wolves on the internet.

Me and you both. Thankfully the Ellen show is just a few days from now, and I'm guessing most, if not all, of our unresolved questions will be answered (when is the release date; who is she touring with; what will the first single be; will she be performing new material; etc)

Per this tweet, Stevie and Rod must be doing some kind of short tour? Maybe she's just doing this to gear up. Dave said this Rod deal is not for her new album:

If I understand the bits and pieces of tweets I'm reading, @DaveStewart is not touring with Stevie but Rod Stewart is? What. The. F***.

I'm gonna scream if she doesn't reveal this information. Because that will mean even more energy wasted trying to figure these things out, it is exhausting & I wanna go home. If she doesn't reveal this information, it will be even more exhausting to hear all the complaining & bitching that she didn't say these things. :distress: lol

So I am apparently the one to open the proverbial "Can of worms"
I thought I'm could get an answer out of him as to who Stevie is touring with if I used a little psychology on Dave with the following tweet..."Dave,sorry to hear you're not touring with Stevie"...
As soon as I saw your tweet and his response I was impressed with your "reverse psychology" method.:nod: This year is definitely starting off with some surprising bumps and twists and turns. I guess Dave was right about this being a wild ride. That's for sure.

Agreed. I mean when does a producer do all the promoting and marketing? Where the hell is WB in all of this? They should be the ones creating all the buzz via twitter or other promotions.
In regards to releasing songs earlier than the album, it happens, I read somewhere that Lady GaGa's new CD is being released in May I think and the single is being released in February I think. It is all done to get the word out.
I agree that I hope Stevie gives us some concrete info. and not beat around the bush.

yeah. you read what lady gaga tweeted and interscope amplified/retweeted and it got multiamped through other media from there. i have yet to see WB retweeting dave's tweets ;)

Rod will sing some of his rock hits. He's not going to go totally Andy Williams on them.
This makes me laugh thinking of the comments Cher made about her Caesar's Palace audience. She said at first she was put off by the fact that they didn't really know any of her songs, but then she realized that this might be the last concert that some of them would ever see, given their ages. So, she decided to make it good for them.
But anyway, the same people Stevie turns on with Stand Back will get revved up by Rod's "Tonight's the Night," "You're In My Heart," and the inevitable "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy." He's not all euthanasia.

i saw late night show where she said that (although i guess she may have been repeating the same story on different shows...) - she also talked about making a FB account and having to come up with another user name "because Cher of course was already taken":lol:

When does a producer do all the promotion and marketing? When you are a glory hound like Dave Stewart .Dave loves the attention...He stands to make a lot of money off of Stevie...He is being paid to co/produce along with Glen Ballard...Then there are the Royalties...If he co/wrote 6 or so songs he will get songwriting royalties (Prince got 50% on Stand back) to keep production costs down he may have been offered royalties on album sales...Plus the more he can tie his record to Stevie's the better it is for him...Dave is doing ALL this for Dave pure and simple...Dave is going to ride the "Stevie Train" for all it's worth...I have no doubt that he intentionally caused a near riot on the Internet yesterday for the sole purpose of self promotion, I wonder how many twitter accounts he has??? Some of the tweets yesterday seem to only tweet Dave...Strange...I am going to go out on a limb here, but I don't think Dave is as responsible for everything as he would like us to believe...Stevie's wanted to make a new record since at least '05. Her "People" have talked her out of it...It's more profitable to have her out on the road...It will not surprise me if Stevie end up having to give Dave the boot like Tom Petty did back in the "Don't come around here no more" days...I'm sorry if I got off topic but it just seems like Dave is dangling a carrot (Stevie) in front of our noses...It's just getting slightly annoying...
Wow... You really are out on a limb here... Careful, you might fall off!
Dave has a vested interest in Stevie's project so why not promote it... Anyone in their right mind would! And I think he has a good handle on what's he's doing.. He's been in the game a long time. It's only getting "slightly annoying", cause you are letting it annoy you... It's your choice!

nothing against bickering mindlessly.
