... Rod Stewart this Summer!
A friend of mine who is very close with some of Stevie's friends and hangers-on just sent me a snail mail (with some cool Stevie goodies, including Tusk on vinyl that he personally had every member in Fleetwood Mac sign for him in 1979!), in which he said he was told Stevie will be touring with Rod this Summer.
He was also told by his friends who are Stevie friends who've heard the new album that it is "fantastic" and just about her best album ever!
This guy is the most genuine, real, truly nice person I've met, so I believe him. Exciting!!!!

I do hope this is after her album has been released, however.

So I guess this means that her set will be truncated with less of a chance to play new material.:distress:

Eh, I think its more of a double bill situation.. I don't think the set will be truncated. The tickets will be priced (accordingly) higher; everyone be prepared to pay over $100 for anything in the first 30 rows.
Just like Stevie, Rod hasn't released an album of "new" recordings (just albums of well known covers/standards) since 2001. If you were hoping that Stevie was going to load up the setlist the new songs, this is just about the worst possible scenario you could have feared.

Something else that's interesting, Rod has a "Best Of" being released on Feb 1st which is a retrospective of all of his "Songbook" cover albums, so obviously he will be promoting that.
As far as Stevie goes, let's hope she uses this Ellen appearance to at least announce the title of her upcoming album while they're on the topic of who's releasing what and when.

Yeah ..I can see that .A double bill for mass boomer consumption ala what the Mac and Eagles would have been ..just smaller in scope.

Yikes... this is going to make for some pricey tickets :distress:. I guess this keeps Stevie playing big venues, though. She's gotten to the point where she can't fill out 12-15,000 seat amphitheaters by herself any longer. I can just hear all the snarky geezer-rocker comments from the press regarding this touring union... yuck :(

Yet another predictably mercenary move likely done to offset the cost of the new album which barring a fluke she now knows will not sell in the quantities of the past.I'd gladly have paid the same to see her in a smaller venue but performing more new material. The most we'll get is probably a couple of songs now.

In an interview over the summer where Stevie was talking about the album, she said she'd only be doing about 3 songs from the new album anyway, so i don't think there was ever hope for more new material to be included in her upcoming setlist(s).
I'm gonna find the interview and post it...i'm sure it's somewhere on Nickslive.

Wow, this hit me out of left field. Poor Dave, gets shoved aside. You can practically smell that promotors were probably still eyeing the success of the James Taylor/Carol King double bill when they put this idea together, but this time more in the rock n' roll vein. I only hope there is no duet with Rod on the new record. I've never seen Rod in concert, I'm sort of indifferent to him so this could be interesting. At least she's going on the road with another Rock Legend! And the chances of her tour outing being successful are more guaranteed.

I do remember that .I had a slim hope she might change her mind particularly if the album does well with critics and fans. She has compared it to Bella Donna which she performed more than half of on that tour. This announcement really puts the kibosh on that .

Found it! The interview is from the end of August:
""...Don't expect Nicks to preview any of the spectacular songs in Atlantic City. "I never do songs I'm working on. Otherwise they'll be on YouTube the next day."
Nicks also believes playing new songs short changes the audience.
"If I go see my favorite band and they take out "Rhiannon" and "Stand Back" to put new ones in I would be disappointed. You can't make people listen to a bunch of new material no matter how good it is. I learned that a long time ago. We did that with (Fleetwood Mac's) "Rumours" tour and we almost got booed off stage."
Next year when the album comes out, she'll do up to three new numbers on stage.""

Wow, this hit me out of left field.
This is an interesting pairing I have to say... I heard either on here, or someone tweeted awhile back they were touring together... Anybody recall that?
Anyway... I still kind of have a hard time believing a Stevie and Rod tour... or vice versa... He draws larger crowds then she, so who'd be the opener??
Plus, do competing label artists tour together? He's on J Records, she on WB. - or is that a non-issue?

Remember kiddies, she did this 5 years ago with Don Henley. And just a few years ago with Chris Isaak. But now it seems pretty obvious to me who will be the opening act. :distress: And since Rod must get a s**t ton nightly guarantee, there's no question that front section tickets are going to be $150-200 for this.
As much as I hate to admit it, this is probably good for promoting Stevie's album. Rod sells more albums than Stevie in addition to drawing a bigger audience. It's good to get her new songs across to a new audience that would not necessarily would have considered seeing or buying her music. I just think it would have been much cooler if she hooked herself up with a younger act like Maroon 5 or Train. No, I'm not particularly fond of those bands either, but at least their audiences are younger and not as set in their ways.

I agree, Maroon 5 with Stevie would be cool. They were with the Stones, when Mom seen them. On nicksfix.com, stevie actually says she likes Maroon 5! I would totally be excited to see that. Rod Stewart just doesn't do it for me. He's like...blah. What does he sing?

He tweeted:
"2011 I will be dropping a Music Bombshell on The Industry !!!!!! can't wait" and clarified minutes later saying "a bombshell in music collaboration and a bombshell to the industry as it stands"
Could Dave have been alluding that this music collaboration was with someone other than himself that Stevie had never dueted with before - someone like Rod Stewart -which has been hidden under wraps til'possibly now. I just assumed he was talking up his collaboration with Stevie once again. Maybe she re-recorded "Cheaper Than Free" with Rod, I can see them rasping out that duet together with more positive results than with Dave.

But she's going to be the opening spot, which means she gets an hour at the most. An hour in a Stevie Nicks set is basically "Rhiannon," "Gold Dust Woman," "Edge of Seventeen," "Stand Back" and three new songs. Me no likey.

I t's difficult for me to digest that she actually acquiesed to being the opening act.Even though Rod sells more tickets I think it will be more of a double bill type pairing. If she does perform a truncated set I will likely be sitting it out again since I have no real interest in seeing Rod unless he did a stripped down set of his and the Faces music from the late sixties to the early seventies when he was actually great.

I haven't heard Rod's name mentioned in 10 years, and he makes his living by singing old standards. Yeah, he's sold more albums but not of new material. The man looks like a piece of old leather and he resigned himself to singing old songs.
I'm not paying to see Stevie as an opening act. So I guess, I'm not going. And I don't think, she needs Rod Stewart to sale albums. Infact, teaming up with him makes her seem older. I can't see Stevie being an opening act for anyone. She is not that way.

i hope so too...that was first thought. Maybe they meant Dave Stewart. Maybe Ellen and Mikes friend both just remember the Stewart part and just automatically thought 'Rod'.
When Stevie toured with Don that was totally acceptable.,,but she has no prior relations with Rod fricking Stewart. Besides that pic that was posted from a random night at Studio 54 or something...and his cover of SB
But if that is the case and she is touring with Rod Stewart...I dont see Stevie opening up for Rod, if anything...it will be a co-headline, like with Henley.

Well for all we know, it could be a mix up, or Rod & Stevie will be co-headlining on a few sporadic dates depending on the outlets, with Stevie and Dave S. cutting loose for a few dates on their own in smaller venues. She did say she wants to promote this new record all of 2011.
But I agree with Jondalar, teaming up with Rod makes Stevie seem older and reaks of a nostalgic money grab. Exactly like we all said when the rumors of FM going on the road with the Eagles in 2010 1st started floating around.

Nor do I... This really doesn't make sense... I just read a November interview with Rod. He was just in vegas at Caesars for 8 nights... AEG who books the venue was seeing if he was viable as a resident now that Bette is gone and I think Cher is finished, or finishing up too...
Anyway, he mentioned that on tour, people either want rock ’n’ roll classics or the American Songbook, but not many want both. My point being that he just released his fifth song book album in November, he's got the Songbook Greatest Hits cd coming in February... and to drop all that and switch to a rock show for a tour with Stevie, kind of doesn't make sense from a promotional point of view. Who would do that? If he's out promoting the Songbook albums and Stevie comes out as an opener and blows the roof off the place, that doesn't fit either. Plus the fact they are on different labels (I'm hung up on that). Stevie's show would have to be complimentary to his show as an opener and vise versa...
I'm rambling just trying to make sense of this...
And someone mentioned that maybe this is Dave's collaboration bombshell he's going to drop. Well, when did it become his job to promote something that he's not even involved in? Unless of course he's referring to a collaboration on record between Rod and Stevie for her album - and he produced it - then it's his place...
Anyway... Carry on.

umm if she goes on Ellen on 1/31, doesn't that mean that the album is in the can. She has to have something to promote, not just the tour. I'm sure we will know a lot more details soon.

just thinking of some popular acts ...the biggest tours/artists recently...Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, U2...anyone of these acts could ask Stevie "would you open for me on my summer tour?" and she would say...Kiss my ass...I'm Stevie Nicks!!!
I haven't heard Rod's name mentioned in 10 years, and he makes his living by singing old standards. Yeah, he's sold more albums but not of new material.
well, you see rod every now and then on the late night talk shows, last time as somebody mentioned about a month ago when he had that last album of covers out. or you see him every time when he has a new young blonde wife and a new baby on the way ;)
i also think that i've seen it posted here that stevie/rod tour is a possibility... i like some of his old songs (w/faces etc), used to own that double album of greatest hits back in the begining of the 80s. saw him in concert once, like '91, and was dissapointed - he was kinda like a vegas act at the time... probably didn't get any better since.:D
but he's entertaining to watch, and i like his raspy voice. come to think of it, i'm surprised to read all this outpur of hate for rod, when both he and stevie made carriers off their raspy voices. actually, it's all getting fuzzy anymore, but i may have seen him in concert some time in the 80s too, somewhere in germany, and that time he was more rocking... so that's why i was so dissapointed in the early 90s.
oh, and speaking of stevie's friends, rod used to sing first cut is the deepest (1977 cover)

I now regret ever fussing about Dave. This makes her much more of an oldies act than belting out Dreams for 30 years. Rod is not a flop singer at all, but all of his recent albums have been cover albums. At least Stevie hasn't stooped that low yet, and I hope she never does. I will definitely be passing on this, even if that means I never get to see her live.

I mean Rod Stewart? Really?
Doesn't it make much more commercial and musical sense to re-release Buckingham Nicks on CD, and sell it at the merch tables at a Buckingham/Nicks solo tour? For f*ckssake. :distress:
hey, let's be real - rod stewart is much more commerically viable then buckingam.
Rod Stewart used to be great.."Handbags and Gladrags "Reason to Believe" ".Maggie May"."Gasoline Alley""Every Picture Tells a Story"and quite a few others are all undeniable classics. He just dropped the ball rather early on and never quite got it back. The comeback "Songbook"albums are all terrible IMO.

I try my best to be a good little chiffonhead. But if we really were the only thing in the whole world that matters to Stevie, she wouldn't let the record company dictate who she tours with, release an album every century, etc. At least Lindsey says he doesn't care about the money, and has actually released some new material since SYW.

i wish you are right... wouldn't marketing like that make people wonder - why not get the whole FM? realistically, i don't think that many people know of BN. not that long ago, they did twisted together for a megahit movie, i didn't hear any fanfare about that.
not that it's very accurate, but some facebook statistics for comparison:
rod stewart - 340,816 people like
lindsey buck - 5,271 people like
(stevie nicks - 120,462 people like)
everybody knows who rod stewart is. people rarely know who lindsey is.

Once upon a time, in 1999, an inexplicably yet highly popular & buzzworthy singer/songwriter had the hubris to set out and write a song for Stevie, for inclusion on her upcoming studio album. Miss Nicks had one listen of it, and quickly dispatched the "thanks but no thanks". Shortly after, another fading, veteran artist snatched it up and put it on an album that got appropriately terrible reviews.
Macy Gray wrote the song, "Smitten", and its on Rod Stewart's 2001 album "Human".
The parallels are just too delicious.

Yes, sure - as a solo artist Rod Stewart has a higher profile - but the people that would go see Stevie Nicks would certainly know who Lindsey Buckingham is and vice versa - and be VERY interested in a tour to support a re-release of BN. We're not talking about them reaching NEW fans at this point in their careers are we? 'Cause, honestly I don't think Taylor Swift fans are burnin' up the net trying to keep up with Dave Stewart's (omg who's he?!?!?) tweets about the new Stevie cd/movie/tour...

Here's another one.
Back when I was e-mailing Russell Mulcahy (director of "Gypsy") back & forth for a part of a larger project that may or may not still happen, Mulcahy gushed over how Stevie couldn't stop emphasizing that she wanted the same kind of dance-oriented video as Rod's "Young Turks" was for "Gypsy". Stevie loved that video.
They go back a long way, people.

Ahh yes, but then Buckingham has developed musically (artistically) over the last 10 years. Rod Stewart has not with his ridiculous "Songbook" releases. So it's more of a question of... the dollar sign versus the art. Dollar sign always wins, so... you're right. ;)
We're not talking about them reaching NEW fans at this point in their careers are we?

Hejira and LukeA know far more than I do about the business, but my gut tells me that SN is not at this stage going to be anybody's opening act, no way, no how. She doesn't need to, even if it means playing smaller gigs.
If this Rod Stewart tour is for real (and I'm not doubting MikeBise, but perhaps his source?)- I see it along the lines of 'Two Voices'- a co-headlining tour. Or, maybe they'd take turns being the closing act.
Actually, if it does turn into a 'Two Voices' kind of deal, I could totally get into hearing SN sing 'The First Cut Is The Deepest' and 'Reason To Believe' more than I'd love hearing 'Rock and Roll' again.
I think no matter who SN tours with, she'd only do her planned handful of new songs from the new cd, so I don't think the pairing would impact her set list all that much.
Just checked pollstar and Billboard, and see nothing.
Mike may indeed have been given the correct information, but there hasn't been any official word at all- this thread could be a lot of worrying over nothing. Who knows? I do think it's possible 'Rod' Stewart and not 'Dave' was put up in error on the Ellen website by a teen intern.

I'm basing all my speculation Mike's post, but even without the benefit his post, the notion of a Rod/Stevie summer shed tour seems rather plausible. I was originally (in the last month or so) thinking along the lines of a Heart, but for the purposes of selling tickets on a double bill package, Rod works. The fact that Dave & Rod have the same last name, yeah... unless Rod reveals on Ellen that he's been Dave all along!

Well, even if Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks tour together, Dave Stewart could be in Stevie's band, perhaps even as 'musical director', or as a bandmember. It is likely Dave who best knows the new material he produced for SN, so for the 3, 4, or however many new songs she plans on having in her set, it would make sense for him to be in the band.
If not as her musical director, should that go to Waddy, Dave Stewart could still be on board.
Eons ago, she had Michael E, then quite young, as her musical director for a tour, so you never know-she could do the same with Dave Stewart, even if she tours with Rod Stewart. Stevie may be touring with two Stewarts!
Or, add Sandy Stewart on backup vocals, and it could be three Stewarts with her! Or no Stewarts!

It is all about exposure. You make Rod Stewart fans who wouldn't normally go to a Stevie Nicks concert go to a Stevie Nicks concert by pairing her with Rod and then promote her new album for them to pick up at the table for 15 dollars. And vice versa. If it was a BuckinghamNicks tour, of course it would be great for the fans, but it doesn't really garnish much more exposure for Stevie.

While the idea of a Stevie Nicks / Rod Stewart combo tour is unnappealing... what's all this about her "ending" her career? She's only in her early 60s, she could carry on making albums and touring for years. I completely agree, I like Rod Stewart but I do NOT want to see Stevie as an opener! If she believes in this album that much and everyone else is saying it's her best yet, she should make it her own and have her OWN tour. I wouldn't mind if she did a few little shows with Rod before branching out into her own tour. She is just TOO GOOD to be an opener. It's really upsetting :( If only Stevie had a computer she could come on here and see what we think, then maybe she could reconsider :/ But at least we'll hopefully hear exactly what is happening straight from Stevie on the Ellen Show *fingers crossed*

Granted, but the fact remains that this is her first solo CD in a decade. I don't think it's the end of her career, but this is a significant moment for her, and it seems like she's wasting one of her last chances to shine as a solo artist.
I can't see her being his opener, though. I really don't think that will happen.

This news is very perplexing to me. I first saw Rod in 1970 with the Faces and Stevie and the Mac later. I have seen both numerous times and I am a big fan of both. I can see how this would work and would not work. I do know that Rod did a cover of Stand Back on a CD titled Lead Vocalist. He did a very good job on the cover. I always thought Rod and Stevie should do a duet of it. One possible song together live. I really hope in some ways this does not happen. I do not like to see Rod live anymore because I think he has sold his soul to the devil to continue to perform no integrity. The last time I saw him the show it was terrible. I do not buy his cd’s anymore because of the covers. The ticket price would be outrageous and getting a good seat would be a nightmare. If this happens I will only go to one show and just go see Lindsey for a few more shows.
Rod already has dates in June 2011-06-08 Norwich, United Kingdom Carrow Road
and 2011-06-11 Torun, Poland Motoarena.
I was hoping Stevie would play small theaters again like she has done before. The show in Milwaukee at the Riverside Theater where the Blue Denim video was shot was great.

I don't want to hear her croaking out songs in her 70s. Her voice has already detioriated too much already. That's why I cannot believe she did not put Three Birds of Rhiannon on this album. One of the best demos she's ever had and she's saving it. For what? An album that no one is going to buy because her voice is too bad. She has other songs like China Doll that are good, well-thought-out songs and we are not going to get those either. I hope that Lady from the Mountain and Cecelia are actually on this album. At least, they are atmospheric and evoke a mood.
She is the queen of bad decision making. I think Dave Stewart was a good decision, but she through in this curve ball.
I hope this isn't true. I'm not going that's for sure.

What has been confirmed? That Rod and Stevie will be on Ellen (and even that hasn't been *confirmed* officially, per se).
What has, at this point, been nothing but pure speculation?
-That Rod & Stevie are touring together - Since when did we accept "I heard from a friend" statements as being 100% true? I seem to recall that type of "news" to be the first dismissed around here.

Did it never occur to you that some of us are joking?! Take some of your own lightening up prescription, my friend! :D
My doctor once tried to prescribe me klonopin to "lighten me up"...but I ran out of that office as soon as I could, per Stevie's advice.
I didn't mean to come off as mean or snippy...I was just surprised at how quickly everyone assumed that this is all a done deal. And I certainly don't think mikebise doesn't believe that this is true...I just know how this board has always reacted to secondhand information.
OK...now let's continue on with the speculation :-)

JEEEEEZUS, what a bunch of whiners. Just stay home...that'll open up some tickets for me to go see her & Rod this tour. I've seen Rod the Mod a few times, with & without Faces, enjoyed it immensely each time (although I wouldn't drop the $$ for any of his albums after Unplugged & Seated...or any album that he doesn't have Ron Wood with him) Add Stevie to the bill and that's a plus. Haven't seen her since the Enchanted tour, so I'LL have one helluva good time without you.

Y'know, the more I think about this Rod thing, the more I think my initial reaction was just shock. I mean, I don't like the guy that much, and SN touring with him (especially as an opener) would put paid to any crazy notions I had of actually smashing my piggy bank to come over to the States to see her this year, but.....
The live dates - whatever they are - are only part of what we have to look forward to: there's also the documentary (possibly plural), all the promo interviews and appearances and of course the album, which has just this minute been once again called 'amazing' by an industry guy on Twitter.
Of course, it could ALL turn out to be cack, but I think I'm over the shock at least.
I still totally, completely, utterly and absolutely hope and pray that some fud just got their Rods and their Daves mixed up, tho!

Well to keep things in perspective if this Stevie/Rod teaming on tour is indeed true. It's a sign of the times, and most likely a strong armed effort of promoters and managers who crunched the numbers, ultimately looking after Stevie's best interest in launching a tour that is as successful as possible. It would not bode well for Stevie's new record if her ticket sales were weak out of the gate, and they had to cancel shows. On the other had, If Stevie scaled down her tour and played smaller theatre's I would be thrilled. But I don't think our gal is ready to go that route. Stevie has costs to recoup from making this new record as well as all this filming that Dave is doing towards his documentary/film. So I look at it this way: we are getting a great brand new Stevie record and what sounds like a very cool documentary film full of Stevie goodness, while sacrificing a co headlining tour with Rod Stewart, who by most accounts we're not all that jazzed about.;)
In the latest Rolling Stone there is a very eye opening article: "Concert Biz Collapses as Fans Flee". In which they report that 2010 was the worst year in memory: Attendance down 25% and gross sales were down 26%, and the total number of concerts staged dropped by almost 16%.
However, I think the main problem is simple. Greed! Not helping things along is that in 2010 the U.S. Justice Dept. approved the billion dollar merger of Live Nation and Ticketmaster. When are artists and promoters going to learn, keep the tickets affordable and below 100 bucks...then people could afford to go to a bunch of different shows instead of having to pick and choose.

I think it will be a great tour I would think a double headling tour would be my guess i can't see Stevie or rod performing for 20 minutes for the other and probably do like Stevie did with Don back in 2005 on the Two Voices tour they each will do a set and come out in each others set and duet together. It just sounds like it will be a high price show and the cheap seats won't be cheap. Unless I win tickets on the radio will be home watching my Stevie solo and FM Soundstage dvd's with a bottle of margarita's I am sure Stevie will dig out one song from the archive to do but it would be more likely the similiar set we have been seeing so other that will pass on this tour.

to me this sounds true with the scheduled ellen show performance with Rod Stewart this week they are performing together according to ellen so it could be a teaser for summer tour where else other than Oprah Show would be to announce a summer tour than Ellen.

Stevie needs to vamp up her set list and drop all cover songs no more cover songs she has way to many songs to not put in the set that we have not heard live. She needs to drag out the songs that she is scared to perform and rock the stage along with some of her new songs.

I am not particularly fussed about the tour, as long as it is lucrative and motivates her to record more. I am really all about the ALBUM, which I will listen to everywhere all the time for months. If the tour comes near me I might go, but the album is the real treat.

well why not a duet with someone new and fresh it would be a move forward and not Stevie to dwell on the past all the time Rod Stewart is someone new to work with too and he recorded Standback back in the early 90's as well so he is a fan of Stevie's I am sure she might be too with him as well. I don't think its a bad collaboration of her and Rod Stewart working together sounds great to me definetly can see them doing a duet together and it would new and refreshing for Stevie I think its definelty a plus i do love collorborations with other great artists she should she is one or in my book she is the greatest artist of legendary status around.

A Stevie/Rod tour is a good thing...Stevie needs to have a major/successful tour to help promote her album...She has put all her cards on the table with this record...Her "People" have talked her out of a new record for years. If this does not do well what are Stevie's chances of getting to record again??? We don't know what kind of deal Stevie made to put this record out, this may be part of the deal...As for everyone wanting a Stevie/Dave tour it may sound all sweet and cute...Unless there are some KILLER Stevie/Dave duets on her album...Stevie needs a BLOCKBUSTER TOUR and a return to glory...

I was basing my information on Dave's tweets - not hoping. He was the one who led people to believe he was doing a tour with Stevie. Personally, it doesn't matter to me who she tours with. I would rather it be someone I like but I'll get over it if it isn't. Odds aren't great that she'll do more than a couple of new songs or even change her set list much to include songs from her own catalogue that she's never done live, because that's her comfort zone, but still we can hope...

A tour with another star of her generation is not going to return her to glory..it may give her a bit more exposure to more boomer/casual fans than she would have touring on her own and may sell a few more copies of her album.A return to glory would require overwhelming critical praise and a grammy sweep which would significantly boost sales IMO.If she does tour with Rod it is nothing new ..look at Elton John and Billy Joel etc.The album will be the real test and it does seem that it is throwing the hard core fans a bone.

I'm thrilled to just be getting new music, and most probably a new docu from her. The tour is secondary as she'll only be going to 20-30 cities regardless of who's touring with her. But from a marketing standpoint, Rod Stewart is a bigger draw than Dave. He brings in more $ than Stevie, and it is a highly-promotable bill having two legends together. It is also easier on the performers, as their stage time is cut by 30% from touring solo.
If Stevie stays to her word (and past practice), she'll only sing 2-3 new songs, meaning the songs that will be cut will be of the "sang-too-often" variety. Personable, I don't own any of Rod's CDs but on stage he could rock a bit harder – The Mac certainly does. But as long as she's having fun and the billing is attracting publicity and crowds, I'm all for it!

Well, I have no interest in seeing Rod Stewart, so any slim chance of my going to see her on this next tour that may have existed is gone.
Rod's first 3 albums were great, but pretty much everything he's released since 1972 is garbage. And he doesn't have the chops to pull off the "Great American Songbook" stuff.
I got into Stevie when Enchanted came out and did VH1 Storytellers, which put her across to me as a singer-songwriter, first & foremost; that's why I liked her. But for the past few years, she's been thinking of herself as this big-time arena rocker, and this tour w/ Rod Stewart just cements that. This is about the furthest thing from what I'm interested in that she could possibly do.
I'm anxious to hear her new album, but the rest of this baloney is for the birds.

just thinking of some popular acts ...the biggest tours/artists recently...Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, U2...anyone of these acts could ask Stevie "would you open for me on my summer tour?" and she would say...Kiss my ass...I'm Stevie Nicks!!!
I bet she would say yes to U2.To appear on their giant stage set up in the middle of football stadiums to have her music heard by the masses. She could trade in her mic stand for Bono's heatset and waltz around that stage to be within inches of the throngs.

It won't be half a show. When she plays 100 percent by herself she plays 15 songs, when she played with Chris Issac she played 15 songs. She's going to sing 14-15 songs whether Rod Stewarts there or not, I think the only difference will be a much larger price.

She could very likely do one new song, perhaps the single, on this Rod/Stevie outing. At this point I anticipate Stevie's album will drop in MAY, June at the latest, which would put a promotional single out @March/April, the same timeframe I suspect we will see the Rod/Stevie tour dates. She will probably perform her usual set list and inject ONE new song to promote the album (dropping the covers) if it's already available for listening/streaming etc.. You would think she and her handlers have the common sense to at least do this.:distress:.

To those considering attending, if it's done like 'Two Voices' was, that was probably my favorite tour of SN's since the '98 Enchanted tour. To hear SN's voice soar on 'Hotel California' and 'New York Minute' was beyond a thrill, she sounded amazing. Oddly, I guess, her vocals on 'Last Worthless Evening' translated to the concert stage in a very similar way, vocally, as 'Talk To Me' did live. Which is to state that it was interesting and enjoyable, I never had noticed any structural similarities to those two songs, but they exist.
Having Don do a couple of her songs with her in her set was just fine, too, and their cover of 'So You Wanna Be A Rock and Roll Star' was fun, and exclusive to that 12 date tour. So, if Stevie and Rod approach any shows in the same way, it could be great fun. I hadn't heard SN sound as fresh in eons as she did on 'Hotel California'.
So, I hope Stevie and Rod do perform together and in each others separate sets, and it really takes away the 'who's opening for who' aspect, if it's approached the way 'Two Voices' was. Stevie on a number of Rod's songs could be wonderful- 'Twisting The Night Away' and 'Sailing' and who knows what else. For me, just to hear SN's voice challenged and shining on songs she hasn't sung a million times is worth a lot, it recharges the singer in her, and even more than her writing, I love her voice, when it or she isn't bored.
So, we'll see, I guess.
By the way, having Don Henley on the bill didn't make Stevie's stage time significantly shorter at all, she still did her full set. It felt like more Stevie Nicks to me than most of her solo tours, in fact, due to the songs with Don. It was a really exciting concert and such a shame it wasn't filmed for dvd or a live cd.
Like I mentioned in the Ellen thread the only way I believe she will perform her new single on the joint tour is if it has been officially released by then and even then I would put the odds she will perform it just at even.I am not trying to be negative. I would bet $$$ she is going to sing The First Cut is the Deepest with Rod and promote their tour that starts this spring. They will sing together. No new song.
