I said I was gonna do a pre-1975 favorite album cover poll and, being a woman of my word with way too much time on my hands  (thank intersession for it and, when the semester starts up again, no Friday), I decided to finally do it.

I had a bit of confusion over albums and, to keep things simpler, I decided to go with the albums listed on The Penguin. Please do not get mad if I forgot something, I am limited to 10 spaces and I was a tad confused

Kiln House is my favourite. But if we were counting compilations too, I would have to vote for Pious Bird Of Good Omen. I seem to have somewhat of a celibate fetish for solitary figures on album covers. They represent to me personally the intimate experience people have with their music. They may listen to it with a group of friends or in a crowded room, but at the end of it all the feelings conjured are entirely personal.

Kind of a toss up betwen Kiln House, Then Play On & Bare Trees, but I went with Kiln House.

Oh, and I prefer the yellow cover of Future Games over the green one.

But if we were counting compilations too, I would have to vote for Pious Bird Of Good Omen.

Note the similarities between the Pious Bird Of Good Omen cover and Stevie's Bella Donna cover.

Kiln House for me, too. I want another copy so I can get it framed.

Fleetwood Mac had some strange album covers!

For me its a toss up between Then Play On and Mystery To Me.

True dat. Heroes Are Hard To Find, for example, is absolutely awful. The concept itself is great. But Mick looks so ill. I feel like saying "Get this guy a ****ing Sandwhich! Preferably with Lard. He needs it".

The cover to Mr. Wonderful is downright scarring, especially when I heard it's one of those gatefold types, where you open it up and Mick's equipment is blocked out by a very stratetigcally placed bush.

That aside, I voted for Kiln House and with the best reason ever: Chrissy Mac drew it!

Did I read somewhere that Christine is the artist of the Kiln House album? Or no..?

It's a toss up between Kiln House, Penguin, & Bare Trees for me, personally.

I have another question...what is going on with the cover English Rose? Is that Mick? He is one sexyyyy woman

Yeah Chris did draw the cover to Kiln House

As for Englsih Rose, Steve could probably tell you, but if that's Mick, I'm gonna quote Nikole on Mick Jagger: he's a very pretty girl

According to Wikipedia it is Mick.

Hi! This is my first post on this section of The Ledge and I voted for Bare Trees. Not only is it my favourite pre-Rumours cover, but also my favourite Pre-Rumours album. Well, except for the last track which I always skip. But John's photo perfectly captures the atmosphere of the music.

Interesting poll, I think it's the first time it is posted, I mean in the pre-Rumours forum. I chose BT, though I must admit no cover from that era really thrills me. The Rumours lineup covers are far more beautiful. Even Behind the Mask is a beautiful one.

I was just going to note this! Beat me to it. A very bizarre parallel. Stevie once said BD's cover concept came to her in a dream. I wonder if she had lodged the Pious Bird cover in her subconscious. (I presume she knew of it since she has often said she went out and bought an entire set of the band's albums upon joining.)

I choose Kiln House for the fact that Christine drew it. I like the covers for Bare Trees and Future Games, also.
I almost wasn't allow to purchase Heroes Are Hard To Find because of its cover. I was only 15 (in 1990)when I finally found it and my mom took one look at the cover and said 'What is THAT??!!'

Heroes is a horrible album cover.

Horrible. Horrible.

I think Penguin has a great cover, Bare Trees's very tasteful, and Future Games's intriguing (the green cover--hate the yellow one).

The Then Play On cover excellent.

Kiln House is cute, kinda' homespun.

Just a quick thought, but how did English Rose make the list anyway with it being a compilation album? If you didn't discriminate with the poll, why isn't Pious Bird Of Good Omen in the poll too?

Depends on your point of view which is the "compilation album". To us Yanks, English Rose was Fleetwood Mac's 2nd album...Pious Bird never was released here. Even as a UK album, Pious Bird was a compilation album. Compiling the UK singles and the two songs that FMac backed Eddie Boyd...a rush-job to include songs that Danny Kirwan was involved with since he'd joined after Mr Wonderful was released. There was even duplication of a couple of songs from the first two UK albums ("Stop Messin' Round", "Looking For Somebody")

The Kiln House cover is nice and all, but looks like something that would be better on a children's album.

John McVie did the Bare Trees cover. He dabbles in photography. Personally I prefer album covers to be a little more darker in color. FM had a lot of white colored albums.

Obviously the Dog and Dustbin cover, since this album (with cover) made it possible for all the "to come" fans to enjoy what was to come since then.
Without this one there wouldn't have been a poll for the Favorite album cover anyway.
Show your gratefulness

The reason why I have the albums up here is what I found on the Penguin's discog section, and by the sound of it, it was a US mixture
