So 2011 is approaching fast and we all know what that means...New Year's Resolutions!!! What are your goals for this upcoming new year? Did you follow through with 2010's resolutions?
Here's mine:
In 2011, I plan not be so judgmental of others. I want to have a more positive outlook on life and the people that surround me.
Last year (2010), my resolution was to keep up with my use of profanity. I'm up to 2,936 profanities (give or take a few).

My New Year's Resolution is going to be difficult for me... I want to lose weight but it's a hard line to walk because I once had an eating disorder and sometimes, I can feel that paranoia come back. So I guess my resolution is to work out more and eat healthier. The problem is that I already eat under 1500 calories a day and work out at least 4 days a week and I'm not satisfied. Le sigh....

I totally have complete faith in you girl! Do you have a workout buddy? Someone to encourage you on your journey?

Not really, but I'm fairly self-motivated. All I can really do is work out more because I already eat well (generally speaking) but I just need to make the time. We'll see how it goes!

It's probably a trite resolution to make, and we all know how hard these are to actually keep, but I resolve to take care of myself this year. I suffer from depression, and I am not known often to think of myself in any aspect. I look after everybody else; helping them with work where I forget to do my own, buying their food whilst forgetting to eat myself. I just generally treat myself like a third class citizen. But this year I made a huge step in forcing myself to begin counselling sessions, so I can come to terms with and deal with past emotional and physical parental abuse as well as other aspects of my past I otherwise avoid. Because I know well enough that alot of what happened to me growing up as helped mould me into a skittish, nervous, shy and overly worrysome person with absolutely no confidence and self esteem. But I want control over myself, damnit. I want to feel worthy of my skin, meat and bones for once.

I resolve to not make resolutions. I only break them by January 4th anyway, so why go through the trauma?

Surely that's a paradox? A resolution to not make a resolution is a resolution in itself. And an admittance that you will break it is infact saying that you no doubt will make a resolution, which makes this resolution false :p

2011 is going to be a year of focus for me. I know I can do well at what I try to, I just need to push myself to do that trying.

I'm going to try to not be as much of a doosh as I am. :)
I tried it at the beginning of this month.
It's difficult :)

hahahahha, Yes I am :P
It's an arrogance thing, and a thinking of myself instead of others thing.
So, I guess my resolution is to not be as arrogant, and start thinking about others before myself :)

I'm gonna try and not be so down on myself. I appear secure in public. However I go through bouts where I think I'll never be good enough for anyone. So must work on that.

My number new years resolution is to work my hardest to overcome my OCD so I can get on with my life and be able to go back to college. I want to be less anxious and I don't want to be so afraid of everything anymore.

My New Year's resolution is to regain my muchness. I used to be a much more vibrant, driven person, but I feel 2009 really ripped a lot of that away from me, physically and emotionally. I spent 2010 putting the pieces back together and getting back to average, now 2011 is going to be about kicking it up to 11. Regaining my body, my health, my strength, and my independence. Learning to walk into a room and be fearless, not letting someone think for a second that I couldn't totally take them down, as Stevie would say :)

You know? I really like that. Mid 2008-mid 2010 has just been an exceptionally ****ty chapter of my life. Moving back to Austin after dreaming about it for so long has been the best step in the right direction I've ever taken. But I need to step it up more. I need to really make my goals come to life. I need to get out and hike as many State Parks as I can find. I need to get my blasted Scuba license! I need to get more involved in volunteering/charity again. These past couple of years have just been rough, and I've totally been laying low and hiding until the storm passes. But it has passed. It's time to get back to living a passionate life again! Thanks for reminding me of that... I think I read this at the exact right moment! :wavey:

1. Grow a pair. I need to start confronting things head on rather than allowing things to fester and spin out of control.
2. Sock away 65% of my take home pay into savings and finally open an e-Trade account.
3. Get at least 7 hours of sleep per night.
4. Finish the interior decor in my house.
5. Get my eyesight fixed.

I need to start getting more comfortable with making decisions. I hate making decisions because I don't like the guilt I feel if the decision I make turns out to be a bad one. Unfortunately, my husband is the same way. Both of us tend to put off decisions until one absolutely has to be made.

Ok, let me rephrase...making resolutions is equivalent to "betting against yourself". I choose to not to be self-defeating.

I think it's so interesting that most of these resolutions are focusing on either mental health or emotional goals. As an aside, I looked at my schedule for the month of January and I am almost booked solid! Obviously it's a good time of year to refocus and gain insight with a fresh start.
My goals for this year are:
Get back into the gym and a regular fitness routine. I hate it, but it must be done.
Finish little projects in my house (rooms painted, etc).
Use up a lot of my paid vacation time by spending time with my family and taking care of myself.

My 'Goals' I should call them, more than resolutions, are to run on my new treadmill at least 3 times a week! ...I don't really want to lose too much weight, I just want to be healthy is all. Okay, losing maybe 10-15 lbs wouldn't be so bad either. But If I'm going to lose weight it's definitely going to be from exercising, because I have such a sweet tooth...and a thing for deep dried things.
Also I want to actually keep my job & make it last longer than waitressing did!

Resolutions have always seemed so goofy to me, mostly because I hate limitations, guidelines or itineraries. I do hope however to get back in college, also finish decorating and painting my house, and be happy instead of a hateful ass.

I should really focus on my health as well. I live on a diet of fast food! Yikes!

I'll keep the tradition that Debbie & I had for every New Year's Resolution, and that is...
"Not to have a New Year's Resolution as our New Year's Resolution".
Never failed with that one

I'd say mine are 'goals' per say: To eat better and lose weight and exercise (but I don't want to say diet. Its one of those 4 letter words ). Get healthier!!Its always a goal!!
Stay positive at work even though it is very very stressful at times esp with this EMR thing and going between computer and paper charts. Pts ask alot and can be very demanding. Plus I can' do it all in one day. I have to have patience with myself and only do the 'best I can do'.
Purge alot of 'stuff''. I love things but they aren't everything really. (so maybe I'll be letting go of some of my Stevie/Mac stuff next yr--anyone interested in anything ??) Just wondering?? It'll take sometime too.
Purge not just collecting stuff but regular things too.
Live the best I can and enjoy all that I can.
Try not to swear as much. It can be such a habit. One thats hard to break too.
Try not to beat myself up too much. I can be my own worest enemy really.
Hope Stevie's /Lindsey's cds are 'released' sometime this yr.
I'm sure I'm forgetting something.
Everyone here at 'the Ledge' have a safe and Happy New Year!! Happy 2011!!!
Make next year the BEST ever!! Lets have some great dicussions next yr OK!! :D:blob1:
