Here are the nominations for Favorite Song...

Black Magic Woman, Oh Well, Why, Hypnotized - winners of the Pre-Rumours nominations

Rhiannon, The Chain, Sara, and Gypsy - winners of the Rumours era nominations

In the Back of My Mind - winner of the Post-Rumours nominations

These nominations are single choice. :eek: The top 3 songs move on the Favorite Song Finals.

MissLadyLoki is the Tiebreaker. Holidayroad and myself will act as arbiters.

Please keep this thread on topic. Fighting and arguing about these songs is cool but try to keep other matters out of this thread. Feel free to start another thread if you feel the need.

Nominations will be kept open for 5 days, closing on Christmas.

Any questions or concerns feel free to PM me. I check those often and reply ASAP.

That was almost a physical pain that I felt when trying to vote. So many children I had to sacrifice :( I had to go for Gypsy though because it holds resonance for me vocally and lyrically. The Chain, Rhiannon and such are amazing songs, don't get me wrong. By Gypsy is the one that has always felt as though it were written about myself. We all have those songs, and Gypsy is mine.

After agonizing forever. I HAD to go with The Chain. It's not my fav Mac song, but out of those it is.

So far, we got a bunch of one-vote songs, but The Chain is in the lead with 4 votes

i feel your pain ;)

it will probably be even more funny looking at the end of this round... with epic songs like Black Magic Woman and Oh Well competing... Hypnotized not half bad either... and the chosen songs will probably be The Chain and two out of three Stevie songs currently offered:shrug:. Or just all 3 Stevie's songs (none of which are too my taste:sorry:).

Now that I slept on it, The Chain is in the lead with 7 votes (I didn't see that coming :laugh:), with Sara and Why tied with 3 votes each. Everyone else has either 2, 1, or nada.

I voted Gypsy. I think the top 3 (of those remaining) should be Rhiannon, The Chain, Gypsy.

How ironic, that's been my prediction the whole time. Those 3 always seem to nail the most number of votes each, and something tells me The Chain is gonna win the whole thing

Favorite from BTM: Save Me
Favorite From Time: Nights In Estoril

These three were then the Finalists for Post Rumours songs. Bekka's and Dave's songs were included in the Time battle which Nights In Estoril won.

Oh jeeze, this was hard. I kind of just clicked on Gypsy without thinking, went for the gut instinct. Kind of wish I'd gone for 'Oh Well' now, or 'The Chain' but that will probably win the round anyway!

It's funny, my prediction about The Chain (7 votes), Rhiannon (5 votes), and Gypsy (5 votes too) being in the lead is coming true. Why has 4 votes so far and the others have 3 or less

I went for Rhiannon. It's the song that got me into the band, and therefore, it'll always mean that little extra something special for me.

I was just looking over the nominees and noticed the variety of styles these songs represent. There really is something for everybody here and with Fleetwood Mac's song catalogue in general. :)

That's true. Lindsey doesn't have song, but Peter has 2. Heck even Bob Welch and Billy Burnette managed to have a song in the top 9!

And the fact that "Why" has made it so far, where as Christine's other songs have failed is freakin' awesome!:D

A little surprised about Rhiannon. Didn't really do that well in the Favorite Stevie rounds...:shrug:

For what it's worth, here's how I would have voted if we could have picked our favourites on this list in our order of preference. (Not to be taken as a criticism of the poll or its maker!! :-))

Not much has changed, but Rhiannon (9 votes) and The Chain (10 votes) are neck-and-neck, and Gypsy is starting to catch up with 7 votes. Next up is Why with 5 votes, and everyone else has 4 or less. And Hypnotized and In the Back of My Mind have zilch so far!

Compared to the other rounds, this one was actually pretty easy for me: the Chain.
I think it might turn some people off that it's too "obvious." And yes, I've probably heard it a few too many times. But it's still a favorite of mine, and on a symbolic level, it does seem the perfect choice to represent the band.

OK so now The Chain is in the lead with 13 votes, Rhiannon is second with 10, and Gypsy is in third with 7. And, strange as it may sound, Black Magic Woman, Hypnotized, and In the Back of My Mind all still have a big fat goose egg

I was noticing that "The Chain" is the only song from Rumours that made to these nominations. When I started this I assumed the Rumours album songs would do very well. Not sure if I was right or wrong? :shrug:

With the choices listed, I selected The Chain. The best song from the best era listed. Lotsa great songs to choose from though, I wish FM would play a bit more older tunes on occasion. I know they play Oh Well which is an awesome song, but Hypnotized is a good one among others to add.

Yeah, I'm glad they play Oh Well in concerts again.

Hypnotized is a great song, it's a shame it has zero votes here. But if you look at 1975 concert versions on youtube, Lindsey didn't do it nearly the justice it deserves:distress:... although maybe now when he's older and has a completely different voice, he might do it better.

I had originally thought that Silver Springs was gonna win the whole thing (I found a poll on the Penguin from a few years ago that had it winning by a landslide, no pun intended :lol:). Now, once the poll got underway, I had a feeling one of those 3 would win it.

I had afeeling it was gonna be Go Your Own Way too. In fact, it came fifth on this poll from 2000 (http://www.fleetwoodmac.net/fwm/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=411&Itemid=261) and yes, I know it's was done when i was in the 4th grade, but when i found it, I initially thought this poll could serve as a basis for this contest.

EDIT: i realized 2 things: this poll was done 3 years after The Dance, so the Silver Springs from it could still be strong in fans' minds. And the fact that it was done when i was in the 4th grade, and considering I'm a college junior now, kinda says something about how old it is :lol:

Even though I voted for Sara, I knew The Chain was gonna win because that song, more than any other, defines what is Rumours era Mac more than any other on that list. But I'd rather hear Sara, thank you very much.

Yeah, before I started this battle of the songs, I looked back through the archives on the Ledge for all the different variations of song contest that had been done. None of them broke it down by vocalist, which was the basis of this battle. They did a lot of album survivor type contest. On contest came down to Rhiannon vs The Chain, I believe. Usually Christine's song were picked off first with Stevie's winning...:rolleyes: My way here seemed more fair and even. Gypsy is the one that has surprised me alot. I'm thrilled though since its my favorite FM Song!
