Stevie Nicks Remix Project, Part 2:

[GoldDustOrphan]

I started the first Stevie Nicks Remix Project thread when I first joined The Ledge about 3 years ago. Many of the links present in that thread are dead, so I thought I'd start "Part 2."

I'll start with posting a handful of new House/Dance/Trance cover versions of "Edge" released in the past year or so, followed by the white label & bootleg remixes of "Edge." The remixes that Warner officially commissioned (on spec ) in 2007 have been kept under wraps.

Chris Galmon – Edge of Seventeen 2010 Digital EP

June 2010, Producer/Remixer Chris Galmon released a 6-track "Edge of Seventeen" digital-only EP featuring Club Mix & Radio Edit remixes from Andy Ztoned, Lady Paranoja and Parajoe & Parajack. Digital EP is available via Amazon, Beatport, etc.

Yes, I did. I'm recycling most of my Stevie remix-related graphics because I haven't done anything new in quite some time.

Aida Cooper is an Italian pop singer who released a cover of "Stand Back" the same year as the original (1983), but only in her native country. Only available on vinyl, side a was a "Vocal Mix" while side b was a "Club Mix." The only mix I have is the "Vocal Mix."

From 2002 t0 2006, Linus Loves milked his cover version of "Stand Back" (which featured vocals from Sam Obernik) with yearly re-releases featuring new remixes in different geographical territories until Ultra Records give it an official U.S. release in 2007. The track was a big hit overseas in clubs and on the radio. (I will upload the video as well.)

And now back to our regularly scheduled program. Dave Aude, Morgan Page (nominated again for a Grammy this year) and Hani were all commissioned to remix Stevie's "Stand Back" in 2007, along with Ralphi Rosario, Starkillers (aka Nick Terranova), and Tracy Young. The label went with Young/Rosario/Page for the physical single, but most club DJs spun Dave Aude's mix. I will post the second half of the mixes tomorrow.

One of the 12-inch singles of "Big Love" had extra Stevie vocals on the House On The Hill Dub. These are different Stevie vocals that on the Extended Remix and the Piano Dub (both of which were posted in the previous Remix Project thread).

Does anyone have the House On The Hill Dub of "Big Love" with the extra Stevie vocals on them to post here?

Again, these are not the same vocals as on the other remixes.

Note: These are the original 1987 12-inch singles, not that recent Deep Dish stuff.

I just made an iTunes playlist with 30 of my favorite Stevie remixes, yay! :blob1:

[SapphireSister]

This is absolutely the best mash-up of all time! I've had it for a while but didn't discover it's fabulocity until yesterday (I listened to it like 20 times, mind you). What could be better than 2 of my favorite songs of all time mashed together? Whoever did this, you are a God/Goddess! And you know how Stevie said she was inspired to write Stand Back after she heard Little Red Corvette and that the chords are similar and the whole Prince playing on it/connection? Well here's the proof: You all MUST download this immediately if you don't have it already:

[mikebise]

BTW, the "Stand Back" that is labeled as the "Disconet Remix" is incorrect. That is actually the 1992 DiscoTech Remix. I have the vinyl and the CD from DiscoTech.

The following is the Little Lies music video re-edited and remixed to the six-minute, 1987 remix ripped directly from a RockAmerica Video Pool pro-subscription series DVD. The file-size is small (39 mb), but if people want a higher quality, I will re-rip it from DVD at maximum quality but the file-size will be huge.

I'm not a big fan of DJ/Dance remixes. But I am really impressed by the artwork that comes has been generated. I'm curious to know about licensing/copyright issues.

There are the official remixes, sanctioned by artists. And then there are numerous other remixes. Are all these legally proper? Is there some loop hole where these other versions are allowed to be created and cirulated?

Enlighten me.

Remixed tracks that are not commissioned/authorized technically infringe on the rights of the copyright holder. It doesn't matter if the tracks are being sold or distributed for free, since both could potentially interfere with the copyright holder's ability to generate income from their work.

Except in very rare cases, labels no longer pursue legal action action "white label" or "bootleg" remixes.

In regard to the artwork, I design 95% of what appears in this thread because I can't stand seeing a blank space intended for artwork on my iPod or iTunes, etc.

I am new on here and was doing a remix for Edge of Seventeen, so I have been looking for the REAL music to the song without the vocals or the separate tracks themselves, does anyone have this? I bought a Karaoke version but it is not even close to the original song!
Thanks DJ AHA

[TheSorcerer]

Wow thanks for posting all these :xoxo: I've just completely fallen in love with the 12" dance remix of "Big Love". I don't suppose anyone has the remixes of "I Can't Wait" from the 12" vinyl release? I really would love to get my hands on the dance remix and dub dance mix. Cheers in advance.

I'd love that too. I've never been able to get a good version of the instrumental version where it does the extended keyboard break near the end and adds her vocals with the "well if I'm wasting my time will you make up your mind" part at the very end. Is there a really good crystal clear version of it anywhere?

I am probably going to end this thread because its barely generating any conversation, despite the huge volume of downloads. There will be a blog specific to FM/SN remixes, but it will require posting in order to receive access to the remix links which will be hidden. I will send PM's to the people that have contributed to this thread when it's ready. My current links will remain active Sunday, June 19. Files will be moved to a different, unsearchable file storage site.

Thats too bad:(. I really enjoy this thread. Even though I don't D/L everything, It's always interesting to see DJ's takes on old & new FM/SN songs. I look forward for when we may get some new songs from IYD remixed. It's not just this thread, but in general it seems like post activity has been floundering since the Wiltern Show .

WOW! Haven't worked my way through all of these yet, but am loving the Eo17 Starkillers Seventeen Lightyears Remix, the SB Dima's Night Mix, and especially the Leather & Lace remix; what a revelation! Who would have thought you could make the vocal fit a dance track so well! Quite a nice surprise! Thank you for posting these, GoldDustOrphan!

You know what, GoldDustOrphan is right. I always try to thank the people I download stuff from but I'd by lying if I said it every single time. GoldDustOrphan, you always post awesome stuff and we're lucky you do. Thank you so much. And I'm a big fan of remixes and love when you post some rare mix I've never heard before or a fan made mix which can often go right up against some of the pro mixes I've heard. So thank you for posting these. I can only speak for myself but it does mean a lot to me to be able to get these tracks. :xoxo:

Remixes are the best. You know after listening to the same version of the same song for 20 years it can get a little old so having a new take on an older song is the best feeling. Plus you get to dance ;).

Sweet!....wasnt expecting a video...thought this was just the audio.
as if this wasnt "fit-inducing" enough, this version was sure to cause some "episodes"
j/k of course...
which makes me recall hearing rumours of Lindsey being epileptic. <-(SP?) never knew if that was true or not.

Mick's 1990 book said he was.

Yes, when Lindsey was asked about it, he never denied that he was. He just said that he never had any problems with it again. The way he glossed over it, it was like he didn't want to talk about it. I think he must have come from a generation where epilepsy was considered bad, linked with mental incompetency or something.

And I always laugh thinking of the taped conversation where Christine asked Mick if she could say that Lindsey had a slight case of epilepsy (apparently she was going to minimize it as much as she could) and Mick told her no, not to say it.

This is really gross. This eBay turd sells nothing but bootleg CD-r compilations, which eBay finally removed. He used to call them "Discoball Memories." Now, he's back with a new seller name and he has retitled his remix collections ICON: Stevie Nicks...
His description of the item is an effort to validate his bogus item. Most of these remixes are either commercially available and the few that are not have been widely distributed for years. If you're an eBay member, please click "report this item." Re-mixer Dave Aude, who was commissioned by Warner to remix Stand Back and Go Your Own Way, has already reported both items to eBay and to his WMG contact since the idiot sloppily put Dave's name on the disc and lists him in the description, which was the impetus for eBay deleting the CD months ago.

If you're an eBay member, please click "report this item." Re-mixer Dave Aude, who was commissioned by Warner to remix Stand Back and Go Your Own Way, has already reported both items to eBay and to his WMG contact since the idiot sloppily put Dave's name on the disc and lists him in the description, which was the impetus for eBay deleting the CD months ago.

i reported on both. i hate when people do this. ive seen demo comps, live comps, video comps...all on ebay, all the time. i dont usually report them, but sometimes i do. and apparently, from what im told, people rip youtube videos, burn them to dvd and sell them thru websites. seriously, it irks me.

The following mix appeared on the 1983 12-inch promo that was not commercially available. The mix is just over seven minutes long.

Wow, a little late to make a request, but if anyone would have this 1983 promo extended mix of Stand Back in a lossless format, it would be much appreciated.

Love these remixes and mash-ups, thanks to everyone who has posted them. I've got a playlist full of them on my iPod and they're great for in the gym.

Agreed. Normally I'm not even into this kind of music but something's come over me the last week or so...my soul has been invaded by a flaming gay male!

I really like the bassline for the Young Edits version. Like most of these homemade Stevie remixes, there's a distinct Euro sound that can turn out to be brilliant or tacky. This is somewhere in between.

Someone made a video for the remix. It's a little cheesy, but it's cool that they went to all the effort for one of Stevie's songs.

I'm absolutely mortified that I love this as much as I do. Given the background of what Gypsy is really about and how crass and misogynistic the lyrics of this hip hop song is. But it's so damn catchy I have it on my iPod and pull it out from time to time. LOL.

Ha ha it's not bad eh? I love that you love it! I loved hip-hop back in the 90's and early 2000's and even though this is recent hip hop that I'm not crazy about I love that my 2 favorite genres (Stevie and hip hop) are blended together!

Hi. I'm not sure of any remixes out there. There are however alternate versions of the album mix if you search this thread.

Not to split hairs but I have the 1983 12" and this isn't on it, plus the mix is the Timespace mix so it has to be from 1991 or later anyway

Wienna is an Eurodance project, produced by The S.A.I.F.A.M group, owned by Mauro Farina and Giuliano Crivellente that utiliZes multiple vocalists. The female singer on this version is not credited.

Yes, I think you're correct. I've scoured GEMM, eBay and elsewhere for the 12'' with a supposed 1983 extended mix of STAND BACK and have found nothing. There's some confusion stemming from the Wikipedia entry, which states, ''a very limited 12-inch extended DJ promo was released on vinyl in the US in 1983, featuring longer instrumental and vocal sections and clocking in at 7:56''.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stand_Back

I don't think this is correct since, as you've stated, what was posted here was an extended mix from the Timespace comp. Understandably, I've have a lot of trouble locating this mix on CD or lossless. I'd think it was a DJ promo service remix, but it's short on bells and whistles (more in line with a straight-up Chris Lord-Alge extended mix). At least one DJ service remix was culled from that '91 remix, the DISCOTECH remix, which has a nice segue into ''Edge of 17'':

I'll keep looking, though, and post any findings!

[mikebise]

Yes, I was suspicious about this "1983" extended version, since it's clearly the 1991 mix as the basis. Glad to have other confirmation.

[ElectroLover90]

Hey guys i was just wondering if you would be able to help me out.

My production company is creating a video clip featuring FWMac's Dreams, and we were trying to find all Dub mixes of the track (including the Deepdish version).

No luck so far except finding LQ mp3s of the Dub Mix/Club Mix mashed together...

Please help! :)

[stevelibby3]

Hi guys,
Hi there,
I've been searching pretty hard for the high quality stems that had previously been shared. I was wondering if anyone has these and willing to share... Basically I am only interested in the vocal stems for Seven Wonders, Gypsy, Sara, and Little Lies... Possibly Loving You Is Fun, and Say That You Love Me-

I've already laid out a bit of music for the 1st 4 tracks mentioned, and only have a a low quality mp3 of the Seven Wonders vocal track, which I prefer not to use, if possible. If anyone happened to download the large folder containing these, and willing to send me just the vocal stems, that would be hugely appreciated!

I've been producing electronic music for about 13 years, have several releases, and a few remixes that have done quite well in the clubs around the world from some of my favorite dj's and producers! I'm looking forward to finishing some more Fleetwood remixes for fun, and very happy to share with anyone interested : )

Kind regards,

Steve Libby

Hi there!
Does anyone know if Dave Aude ever made a radio/edit version of his stand back remix?
Thanks....
