Gold Dust Woman

One song I never get tired of.

Gold Dust Woman. Second highest played song on itunes, and, in times where I'm sick of everything Fleetwood Mac, it's the one song I can still listen to

Gold Dust Woman...no matter the version, album, Stevie solo, live, this songs always kicks major ass.

Silver Springs

I do love Gold Dust Woman but for me it has to be Gypsy!

Wow. They're all tied. That's a rare sight. May still be hope for Silver Springs yet :)

Nah, people will vote for the other two because Silver Spings is too 'obvious' or popular :distress:

Gold Dust Women is my all time favorite Stevie solo and Fleetwood Mac song. What a absolutely hyponitic song. I can get lost in her voice. I can not believe how autobiograhical the song became for her life. Its actually kinda spooky if ya think about it:confused: ROCK ON Stevie....

Well the reason I chose not to go with Silver Springs is I'm going by the original studio cut...which is....ummmmm.....underwhelming.

I went with Gypsy, love the simplicity of the music and the production. I believe this and Rhiannon are her signature FM songs. Gold Dust Woman is a close second.

I just can't find it in me to really love 'Silver Springs'. I mean, I 'get' it, but I'm also like 'Oh leave it alone, luv, he's not worth it'.:p

To me, GDW just proves itself to be ever more of a rock classic as time goes on, and the riff it's built on is practically indestructible live.

The album cut of Gypsy, though, is a one of SN's best vocals, and the song is central to how she mythologises herself.

So, OK. Think I'm gonna rock on.....!

The spirit of Rhiannon is turning in her proverbial grave.

Wow, tough. Silver Springs is great, but I love GDW and Gypsy. Both are so different. I love the music and vocals in both.

I see my Gypsy, but I must Rock On.

I've been really surprised at how well Gypsy's doing. It's a great song, but I wouldn't peg it as near Stevie's best. To me, the production is a little dated--the others, I think have aged better. JMO, of course.

I went with Gold Dust Woman. It can still give me chills--such a mesmerizing song.
Silver Springs is just a smidge behind.

Well, i don't get this whole thing for Gold Dust Woman. It is indeed a good song, but it does nothing for me. And i'm almost disappointed that Rhiannon isn't there. I mean RHIANNON ! Or even Sara. Or just a Tusk song. I really had no idea Gold Dust Woman was a fans-favorite. (and i'm not impressed with those two other choices...but i went with Gypsy.).

I'm tired of Rumours.

I was just about to say "except for Dreams"... But seriously, it was a general observation. Go your own way, You make loving fun and Gold Dust Woman win. How original.

I do love Sara though, it was just a response to all the "Dreams haters". :)

I remember, because I was one of the haterz complaining about how boring it is in concert always being at the beginning of the set. Honestly I would really enjoy it if she placed it near the end or the middle or somewhere different.

However I still wish you would change your sig. Something new, please. It's time.

I had to vote for Silver Springs. All three are counted among my favorites, so I picked the one that's most fun to belt out in the shower.

I'm kinda surprised that Rhiannon didn't do better, but I knew that Gold Dust Woman was a Ledgie favorite. I'm thrilled that my favorite, "Gypsy" has made it thus far! Silver Springs - well I can see why it was left of the Rumours album - just doesn't mesh well with the others on that album. Alot of my favs didn't make it past the very first battles!

Me......well I'm beyond thrilled that Rhiannon is gone....never got the appeal of that one.

I voted for Gypsy. It's one of my top favorite songs, right under Sara.

The reason I like Gypsy so much is:
1. it's not from Rumours (tired of that album - just like someone else said)
2. It's relatable and makes me feel normal for being a gypsy at heart
3. Lindsey said it's one of Stevie's songs that he is very proud of based on how he helped her make it what it is
4. the overall way it tickles my ears and heart - love love love it!:)

I think I put to much emotion into choices I make regarding songs and whatnot. Hummm, oh well...I can't help it.

Don't blame it on me, blame it on my wild heart.

I like that you called up Rhiannon in comparison with Gold Dust Woman. I originally thought of another moon sister. But I'll go with this, I thought obvious, ranking:

Rhiannon > Sisters of the Moon > Gold Dust Woman

But, lo' and behold, the ancient queens are rocking on: my beloved mum recently told me that Gold Dust Woman is her favorite. I was like

Still, it's an effing great song.

Wow.

I did vote for Gypsy because from start to finish it is brilliant. And although I'm not a huge fan of GDW it did spawn one of the most epic lines of all time: "Rock on, ancient queen". So simple, yet so empowering

It seems that GDW and Gypsy have had the staying power as representing SN - and come to mind first when people (in general, not necessarily SN or FM fans) now think of her.

I like Silver Springs, but it is not off-the-charts-great song, imo. Gypsy - eh, not for me. I think GDW is just a really good song, and it still sounds good when FM performs it in concert.

I think Gypsy is so much more fun to sing in the shower. Particularly the OOO OOO AAA AAAAAAH bit :o

Although, if people overheard they might wonder what you were doing!

Not a fan of Silver Springs, love live versions of GDW, but ADORE Gypsy in any shape or form especially The Dance version - turned up full volume it's so uplifting and easy to sing along to.

I love all 3 songs, my vote is GDW, after hearing this song for the first time on the Rumours LP back in 77, to me it was the best song EVER, i loved it then & still love & enjoy it now. Forever Rock on Gold Dust Women!!!!!

Here are the results...

Gypsy - 30 nominations
Gold Dust Woman - 26 nominations
Silver Springs - 21 nominations

Gypsy moves on to the nominations for Favorite Rumours era song, which start tomorrow.

...and really I hate doing this, but...Gold Dust Woman and Silver Springs are officially out of the battle of the songs  ...please don't scream and yell!

Thanks to holidayroad for help with these nominations.

Excuse me while I enter the Ledgie Protection Program!

Why did Silver Springs have to get removed?! The dance version rules! *continues on in incoherant ranting*

That was a joke BTW up there that had to be :p, but I'm very happy Gypsy won

I'm not really surprised that Gold Dust Woman didn't win Favorite Stevie Song. For the Favorite song from the Rumours album, it got 3rd place with only 9 votes. Go Your Own Way got 12, The Chain got 21 votes, and You Make Loving Fun got 7 votes.

Silver Springs barely made it to the Stevie finals. Heck if Fireflies had gotten a few more votes, Silver Springs wouln't even made as far as it did.
