Remember, Stevie doesn't want any of her songs on youtube before the album comes out so I doubt she'll be there. But if she is there she'll probably just sing Landslide, with Dave on guitar.

Thank God that didn't happen!

And, she did say that about her songs - but she did a song with Dave on his new cd. I'm not sure if it's going to be on hers. It's called "Cheaper than Free". The liner notes in the vinyl say that it was a phrase Reese Witherspoon used one night when she was visiting the studio and Dave and Stevie loved the line. When Dave went to Nashville to record, he called Stevie and asked her to write the lyrics, she sent the finished lyrics at 2pm and he sent her the finished vocal at 5pm. He said: "It's a song that makes us both cry when we hear it together, and wherever it takes you as a listener or whomever you think about, whether a child, a lover, a parent, it wont' fail to make you pause for thought and reflect on what life is really all about. Sharing that love."

Alas, Stevie wasn't there tonight. It was an awesome show though! I was pleasantly surprised. Totally impressed with Dave. Two thumbs up.

He did "Stevie Baby", mentioning that it was for someone who was a legend (paraphrasing) and who he had just finished producing an album for.

Edit: I am pretty sure Dave was wearing a crescent moon necklace. LOL.

The show was AMAZING! Dave Stewart really is the consumate entertainer! His band was tight and his backup singers were flawless, one in particular who sang "Would I Lie To You", which was incredible! The highlight of the evening for me was "Don't Come Around Here No More", as well as "Sweet Dreams/Missionary Man" - they kind of blended the two together.

His new songs are actually really good and very catchy. Ironically, the one song I didn't really enjoy all that much was "Stevie, Baby". It's sweet thathe wrote it for her, but in my opinion, it's just a weak song both lyrically and musically.

Martina was great on thier duet, but butchered "Here Comes The Rain Again". She screwed up the words THREE times!

All in all, it was a great show and I had a blast. Can't wait for the DVD!

Oh, and Kena, it was really nice to meet you last night! :)

I thought HCTRA was amazing! Of course I wouldn't have known if Martina messed the words up anyway. And, to be fair they were all reading that prompter all night.

Wow, if Dave and Stevie tour with each other to promote their respective CDs, that concert experience will be AMAZING! Well, it is AMAZING anyway with Stevie but it will be even more AMAZING!:blob1::blob2:

All the more reason for her to get the words right, wouldn't ya think?

Well, Dave messed up too that night. Besides, I think under the circumstances, it's ok to cut Martina some slack - maybe she couldn't see the monitor well - she was certainly out of her genre, singing with the guy who wrote it and half of the duo who made it famous - and probably hearing Annie Lennox in her head - it had to be a bit overwhelming.

Nice to meet you too!

Dave was totally wearing a crescent moon necklace. I wanted to jump up on the stage and snatch it off of him so I could have it for meeeee! I also wanted to button up his shirt. I was about to die laughing when he first came out with that sequined jacket, shirt unbuttoned down to his belly button, and his signature hat and glasses. I seriously thought at least the glasses would come off when he performed. I NEED TO KNOW what the deal is with the glasses.

I think Martina was great and I loved Here Comes The Rain Again. I'll respect the fact that she messed up the lyrics and a die hard Eurythmics fan like your friend would be a bit disappointed. I continue to catch myself breaking out into singing that song, mostly the "talk to me" verse... with Martina's twang. I think I accepted that Stevie wasn't going to show up after they did HCTRA because I do believe that Stevie could have rocked that song.

And speaking of Stevie, the Stevie Baby song was totally cheesy. My emotionally retarded date even thought so, so it must be true. Date said "how old is he? singing about Stevie like he's in high school!"

Oh goodness I can't forget about the backup singers. WoW!!! The lead girl (Amy maybe?) was amazing...even with the black unitard and camel toe. Seriously guys, her voice was amazing and I loved that Dave let the backup ladies take over the show for a minute.

One thing I will say about Dave is that he can pull together a very diverse group of people. I'd try to explain all the different folks on the stage but I'd probably come across as sounding culturally ignorant or offensive. Basically Daves group was made up of a variety of colors, shapes, sizes, and ages. The guy playing base looked about 100 years old...and looked like he was on something. The younger guitar player guy looked like a younger, taller Dave. He also looked like he was about to stick his tongue in Dave's mouth. Oh, and that older rounder man who was playing the harpsichord looked like he worked at a Deli down the street. He he. I better stop there. Told yall it would sound ignorant!

Overall I thought the show was great!

I am wondering what Dave's team will do with the video....maybe he will show it to Stevie and she will say "who is that darling girl on the 3rd row and why doesn't she have a crescent moon necklace on?" Then she will order Karen to send me one ASAP. I will rush to my mailbox to get my necklace right before... I wake up. It was a dream. Damn it. Janet.

.

Ya know, I JUST realized that he is ALWAYS wearing sunglasses. I was looking at a picture of him & Stevie and it all of the sudden just dawned on me. Odd. Not surprising he wore them on stage though! At least they may shield the blinding lights of the stage
Glad the show was a good time for you!
