Yes, I know people have done stuff with Stevie solo albums a gazillion times before and that you're gonna start bellyaching about this, but this time, it's my turn. Please note that I am using official studio albums (no live stuff like Soundstage or lost demo stuff like Mirror, Mirror), but here I go.
As for me closing the other thread, my mistake was that I kinda forgot to create a poll for it :o but I fixed that
EDIT: I hope none of you get offended by my typical goofy answers. It's all in good nature

I have to say Rock A Little for this one. It's not perfect, but the fact that it's such a beautiful hot mess makes it so enjoyable! I also think the lyrics are darker and the album is more versatile than Bella Donna and The Wild Heart.

'Favorite solo album? Really? To pick a favorite is like picking a favorite child' ♥ How true is this statement?
Really, you knew what my answer would be:)
I couldn't pick between TWH & TISL, anyway. Nuff said.

My fav Stevie album changes with my mood it seems. I'd have to say my overall fav will always be Bella Donna, but I'm definitely in a Rock A Little phase right now! :D

Agreed! The whole hot mess aspect of it makes it tremendous fun. That's why I also looooove watching the Red Rocks DVD... it's such a fabulous trainwreck meltdown. :D

Bella Donna will always be my favorite, with Rock a Little a close second.

Bella Donna. It was the first Vinyl album I ever bought of hers as it was the first album in general that I fell in love with.

Gotta go with the album that, according to Nicksy herself in a twitchy interview from 1983, the album that's wilder than Bella Donna...Wild Heart!

Sometimes it rages Rock A Little.
I wished you made the poll public. I like to see who voted for what.

Got to go with WH on this one. Standback was the first , true, addicted-to-Stevie song of mine, even though i grew up listening to FM and Bella Donna with older siblings. It just seems she was less cautious and commercial than on BD, as that was her first solo record and needed it to be a hit. She was also a tad less schizo than on RaL (which i like quite a bit).
It just seems a great balance of muscular production wedded to her self-absorbed, flighty tendencies.

It will always be between Bella Donna and The Wild Heart for me. I gotta go with TWH though. Both are pretty flawless records with one dud song each (The Highwayman / Gate and Garden) but, TWH just edges it for me.

I didn't realize I had that option! This time, I was just making sure I got a poll up in the first place

Bella Donna, followed very closely by The Wild Heart.

Why Bella Donna? To me it a flat and dull version of Stevie, I was disappointed with it from the getgo. I think BD was poorly produced and contained some unfortunate song choices. But that's just me.

Rock a Little. It surprises me to say, because RAL certainly provides a large helping of 80s cheese and has a lot of material not written by Stevie herself. So I don't think it's her highest *quality* album, but it's the one I return to most often. which I think qualifies it as my favorite! It's just fun and energizing in a way that little else by Stevie or the Mac is.

Bella Donna. Three words: Edge. Of. Seventeen.

For a long time it was Bella Donna...if Rock A Little's Side 1 was as good as Side 2, then that would've been the easy choice...but, she outdid herself on Trouble In Shangri-La. That was the first album of hers since RAL that I liked upon first listen...not just a few songs, but the entire album. (Just wish they would've included "Touched By An Angel", that would've made it the "perfect" Stevie Nicks album, for me)
My other "wish they would've" moment was on Rock A Little...if they would've swapped "I Can't Wait" & "The Nightbird", that would've made Side 2 the all-time best album side of hers ever:
Talk To Me
I Can't Wait
No Spoken Word
If I Were You
Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You
That would've been tough to top. I never would've had to flip the LP over and listen to side one ever again.

Trouble in Shangri La-I have come to love every song on this album (Except Every Day). It is also probably my favorite album of all time. However, if this were a poll of her best solo album, definitely Bella Donna.

I really don't know what to say to that, other than we're just hearing different things.

Have to give it to Bella Donna. Funny, when I bought this record in 81' on the edge of 13, I was initially disappointed as the only songs I heard from the radio were SDMHA & Eo17, so I expected the record to be straight up rock. But it turned out to be a solid effort and still stands up today! But I also love TISL & Rock A Little as a close second and third.

My favourite is Wild Heart. I agree that the second half is stronger than the first, but there's just something about it that I love. And it sounds SO good at this time of year!!

Seriously? The 2nd half is marred by the existence of I Will Run to You and Nothing Ever Changes, both of which I could more than do without. I even like Gate & Garden better than those two.

For me, its OSOTM. Its the only album that consistently pleases my ears! What I mean is, as a whole, its my favorite.

Maybe it's just me, but I like I Will Run To You and Nothing Ever Changes. My least favourites are If Anyone Falls and Gate And Garden. That's just my opinion though.

Bump...wow, more people can't decide than like Street Angel (the only one I knew that liked it was Miranda), and more people like Street Angel than people that think she's this mountain man that's just seen Superman:

Yeah we've done many of these polls before ....I picked again Wild Heart even though I do love BD but I do like WH.....though I also am not crazy about I Will Run To You....I think All The Beautiful Worlds is a much better song really. I think I like BD the way it is but I do wish more of Stevie's own solo songs were on it instead of the duets even though they are very famous now with Tom and Don.....I do like them but I so would've 'love' Blue Lamp or Sleeping Angel on it etc.....The Dealer (up beat version).....its a bummer but it is what it is.....than I'd pick Mirror cause thats when I started collecting so that will always be special to me.....than I'd probably say RAL....than TISL than SA........its not that I probably hate an LP but I just may not listen to it as much as the others.......:D

It's really hard for me to choose between TWH and RAL.
BD - although I liked it at the time - seems polarized to me now. The commercial decision to position Stevie as 'a rocker' accounts for EO17 and SDMHA, but then I think the whole country thing is like wtf? Doesn't work for me as an album, really. :sorry:
RAL I just love to blast when I need some 'f*** you' energy. And I think it's got some killer tracks - the title track is superb, like silk shredded on barbed wire. And this is one place where that whole drumkit-falling-down-a-liftshaft 80s crash sound still sounds bouncy and manic, rather than just busy and ****.
The Wild Heart, though ... For me, it's got the 'live' band feel that BD had, but is much more coherent as a collection of songs. The title track, especially, is (to me) one of the best things SN ever wrote - although I probably think this as much because of the dressing-room video vocal jam as much as the finished article.:D
Also, don't know that I can see past the album that contains 'Nightbird', so yeh, WH for me.
