I'm making an 18 track CD playlist for a friend of mine of Stevie songs, and at the moment I'm at a loss for the best ones to put on it. This is what I have so far.

4. Sorcerer
5. Highwayman
6. Leather And Lace
7. Touched By An Angel
8. Sara
9. Beauty And The Beast
10. Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?
11. Edge Of Seventeen
12. After The Glitter Fades.
13.
14.
15.
16.
17.
18.
Anybody have any additions to this list or changes you'd make? Any help would be appreciated.

13) Rhiannon
14) Gold Dust Woman
15) Silver Springs
16) Gypsy
17) Wild Heart
18) Sable on Blond
I'd replace Touched by an Angel with Fall From Grace and The Highwayman with Nothing Ever Changes though.
Gah. 18 is so restrictive D:

Part of it depends on if you just want her solo stuff or a mix of both solo and FM material. Gypsy, Gold Dustwoman, Rhiannon, and Dreams are must haves for her FM material.

I know. Even though I'm so tired of it live, it has such energy. However, with my list, it came down to Think About It or Enchanted. Think About it won.

I don't get the love for Enchanted. It's just always felt a bit... eh for me. I guess it's because it's right after the God-Awful Gate and Garden.
You could just give them the Stevie songs from the cocaine trilogy albums + Gypsy, and all of Bella Donna and The Wild Heart - if they don't like Stevie after that, they never will

Ehh I know I'm in the minority, but I always felt that there were a ton of duds on Wild Heart. Beauty and the Beast, Stand Back, If Anyone Falls, and Nothing Ever Changes are really the only songs on WH that I love. I could give or take the rest (yes this includes the title track). Don't shoot me!
Edit: I think Wild Heart could have been stronger if she included Violet and Blue, Sleeping Angel, and even the recorded version of Gold and Braid. I've never been a fan of Nightbird. I really do not think Stevie and Lori's voices coincide well on that track. I know there's personal significance behind the song (Robin), but I would have much preferred "City of Hope." I really cannot get through Gate and Garden or Sable on Blond at all.
The track Wild Heart certainly is very strong, but I just never thought it came together well. The dressing room demo, however, is perfection. Even if it is her just singing three or four lines...That demo in itself is so powerful.
I'm sure i'll get torn apart for these comments, but I have always felt this way. I always wondered why more of the Wild Heart album never made it on the tour. Its not like the album flopped at all. Stand Back was huge and by November of 83', If Anyone Falls was everywhere. I know she tried out Enchanted for a night or two, but that really didn't go anywhere. I can't believe she never did "Nothing Ever Changes" on stage in the 80s. That would be been absolutely wild. She could have easily cut Sara, Leather and Lace, and I Need to Know from the set list and no one would have cried. Even though the Wild Heart versions of Sara are great, she had played it solo and with the Mac for multiple tours.
Even for Rock a Little she did 4 new songs, and for OSOTM did 5 (rehearsed 7, but only 5 made it to opening night). Hell even the Street Angel Tour had 4 new songs and she had serious problems with the album. Maybe because her solo thing was just beginning to take off in 83' and her audiences hadn't seen her show, 3 songs from the WH album on tour wasn't enough.

Not really putting these in the order I would if I were burning a CD, but here are the songs I'd have on a Stevie playlist:
1. Nightbird
2. Bella Donna
3. How Still My Love
4. Wild Heart
5. Some Become Strangers
6. Edge of Seventeen
7. Rooms on Fire
8. Sable on Blond
9. Talk to Me
10. Ooh My Love
11. Trouble in Shangri-La
12. Beauty and the Beast
13. Outside the Rain
14. The Nightmare
15. Planets of the Universe
16. If Anyone Falls
17. Garbo
18. I Sing for the Things
As much as I love the Bella Donna album, Leather & Lace and The Highwayman are not my favorite songs in the world. Also, this is pretty light on hits; there are tons of album tracks that the average listener has never heard, and they're better & more interesting than most of the hits, IMO.

This is hard. You have to make sure you cover the basics of Stevie's career and throw in a few odds and ends to even it out. I would make two cds spanning her career. If you friend is just a casual fan, then I would just focus on the early stuff 70s/80s.
Disc 1:
1) Rhiannon
2) Edge of Seventeen
3) Dreams
4) Landslide
5) Bella Donna
6) Silver Springs
7) Gold Dust Woman
8) Leather and Lace
9) Blue Lamp
10) After the Glitter Fades
11) Sara
12) Gold and Braid (HBO live)
13) Angel
14) Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
15) Outside the rain
16) How Still My Love
17) Storms
18) The Highwayman
Disc 2:
1) Wild Heart
2) Gypsy
3) Sleeping Angel
4) Garbo
5) If Anyone Falls
6) Stand Back
7) Nightbird
8) Violet and Blue
9) Beauty and the Beast
10) I Can't Wait
11) Rock A Little (Extended)
12) Seven Wonders
13) Rooms on Fire
14) Battle of the Dragon
15) Talk to Me
16) One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star
17) Ooh My Love
18) Has Anyone Ever Written Anything For You?

Not sure if you're still working on this, but I took a stab at a tracklisting. These are what I would consider the "signature" songs and I attempted a non-chronological sequence... sort of a fantasy "Stevie 1" compilation release.
1. Edge Of Seventeen
2. Dreams
3. Rhiannon
4. Landslide
5. Stop Draggin' My Heart Around
6. Gypsy
7. Silver Springs
8. Gold Dust Woman
9. Stand Back
10. I Can't Wait
11. If Anyone Falls
12. Sisters Of The Moon
13. Seven Wonders
14. Talk To Me
15. Rooms On Fire
16. Leather And Lace
17. Sara
Following this with a second volume featuring "deep cuts" --latter day material (Planets, Sorcerer...) with b-sides and album tracks-- would round things out nicely.
I would use all original studio recordings... the single version of Rhiannon, the original mix of Silver Springs found on 25 Years-The Chain and the Timespace remixes where applicable... :)

I followed this suggestion for a playlist for New Year's Eve when I had friends over for dinner. The only changes I made were adding BATB, HAEWAFY and "Outside the Rain" which I consider a signature song, while I cut SW and IAF. My friends never once commented on the music, which I of course thought was disappointing. The only reactions I observed was that when TTM started, everyone started tapping their feet and, during BATB, everyone got very quiet.

I made a playlist today, with the rule of choosing exactly 2 Fleetwood Mac songs, and exactly two songs from each of her 8 unique solo albums, for a total of 18 songs. I think it would make a great show, too, and I feel really happy with my choices.
Bella Donna
Seven Wonders
Belle Fleur
In Your Dreams
Kick It
Stand Back
Accoustic set:
Rock A Little
Moonlight
Candlebright
Street Angel
Nothing Ever Changes
Planets of the Universe
Long Way To Go
She Loves Him Still
Rooms On Fire
Encore:
I Sing For The Things
Gold Dust Woman
Second Encore:
Edge of Seventeen

I like your list a lot. You should make this a thread where we all have to choose ONLY 2 songs per album and ONLY 2 Fleetwood Mac songs, which is a task in and of itself. :D
