This has been something I've been thinking about recently. What do you think is Stevie's favourite song out of everything she's ever wrote?

I would have guessed at Rhiannon or Dreams, although, isn't she like, totally in love with Touched By An Angel? I still need to hear that song :(

Considering the fact that she cries every/nearly every time she performs HAEWAFY?, I believe that it touches her very deeply and speaks alot of herself. So personally I like to believe it's this one. At least I hope so, because it's mine for that exact reason lol.

she says every song is her favorite.

at one time i thought she said how still my love was her favorite. then she said dreams was her favorite because it was fleetwood mac's only #1 hit. i've heard her say some other ones are her favorite as well, so who knows.

Michael Stipe (R.E.M.) does the exact same thing, and it bugs the bejaysus out of me! Every time I watch a live show, he introduces a new song each time as his favourite. The first time I heard him say it, he was talking about my favourite of their songs (Country Feedback), and I got so happy. But he ruined it when he changed it the next show. Oh well. I could never be too angry with him. I did grab a handful of his ass at the only show I've been to so that was great lol XD

I read on an interview once that in her opinion the best lyrics she ever wrote were in Storms (I gotta agree with that one ) and I know Rhiannon is very near and dear to her heart (she refused to have it released as a single at first cause she didn't wanna see it fail).

She's definitely said through the decades that How Still My Love is her favorite song to perform onstage.

Like Cassie said, she's also mentioned Storms was her best lyrically.

I suspect she has different favorites for different reasons. :)

Sara was my favorite [song] ~ for that kind of song. Sara was, and is, the love of my life. There are different kinds of favorites. You have your miserable favorites and your happy favorites. I can't pick just one [song].

I myself have never heard Touched By An Angel either, wasn't it on a soundtrack? But I think Stevie's favorite son she's ever wrote was Has Anyone Ever written Anything For You...simply because somewhere I heard her say she loves it, and it's on her album Timespace, and that's an album made up of her favourite songs so.. just a thought. :)

Anytime :)

I really like the song too. Listening to it again might have made it my favorite song of the week :)

She doesn't have a favorite because her songs are like her children (according to Stevie herself) and you can't pick a favorite child!

Given that information my answer to this question is that it probably changes over time and changes frequently and I'm sure she likes some more than others. I'm also sure she associates some songs with good memories and some with not so good memories but more likely than not every one of them represents something significant in her life, even Jane!

Except for IDWTK. That's like the stepchild that she forces to do all the housework.

Nah, she likes the song.

"I happen to really like that song…and I love singing that song with Lindsey because that was one of our Everly Brothers singing things that was really close and tight and really fun to sing…so if [Silver Springs] was going to be replaced with anything, [I Don’t Want To Know] was a good replacement."

But it's still the redheaded bastard stepchild of Rumours as far as most people, and apparently the band, are concerned.

Oh yeah, I remember her saying that on the Rumours Documentary. That last comment of yours is hilarious, poor IDWTK, .

ROFL! Only kidding :p XD XD

I could understand why IDWK could be considered a kind of outcast of the album though. There's something about it which doesn't sit so comfortably with me. Maybe because it sounds like it was written in five minutes. Don't get me wrong, I still like it very much. It's just so simple.

Basically, the subtitle to this song should be "Landslide (part 2)"

Granted it was used for the Sweet November soundtrack, but that shouldn't have prevented its inclusion on TISL, as well. Swap it out for "Too Far From Texas" and TISL would've been the absolute PERFECT Stevie Nicks album.

Sorry about that redhead comment, but I couldn't help myself! :D

IDWK is a simple little ditty, but I really, really enjoy it too. I agree it doesn't quite fit with the rest of the songs, but that could just be us knowing that it wasn't originally going to be there. As far as it seeming to be written in five minutes, Stevie seems to write some of her best songs in the five to ten minute range. Landslide, Rhiannon, Dreams...

People, people! What's the hate for TFFT? Haha, I have to agree a little bit though. It's a little too country, and not Stevie sounding at all. As a song I love it, but I don't love it as a Stevie song if you know what I mean..?

I reckon that her favorite song is Storms, or some other emotional song that collecting dust inside her vault... deep in the Arizonian desert.

I don't quite get the Too Far From Texas hate either, but I guess that depends on your personal opinion of country music. I don't know about it not sounding Stevie-ish, though. She's got some serious country roots, so I think TFFT is right up her alley even though she didn't write it. Bella Donna, usually regarded as Stevie's best solo album, has a real country bent to it too. Our girl can write some straight up country songs when she wants to. Poor Me comes to mind: "Just the other night, I was out drinking..."

When TISL came out, I used to downright LOATHE TFFT! For years I just skipped the track, as well as "Love Changes" which is my least favorite off the record (just my opinion - don't stone me).

In the last two years, whenever I bust out TISL, I will listen to it all the way through, and I've got to say, TFFT has grown on me. I find myself singing a third harmony to the chorus and the bridge. It took awhile, but I kinda like it now.

"Love Changes" will NEVER grow on me! Eck!

To me when I first listened to TISL, TFFT sounded kind of out of place and extremely country compared to the others. I liked it though. And love changes is one of my favs! Hehe, to me it is Its Only Love that I always skip :p

Yeah, SS didn't help. She has singled it out as the one song of hers that actually meant nothing. She says Lindsey had his guitars laying around the apartment in different tunings and she was just playing around and came up with IDWTK.

I don't agree that it has no meaning. I derive meaning from it, but I definitely think she thinks of it as light and simplistic, regardless of how effortlessly and successfully their vocals blended on it.

Initially, TFFT was the only song on the album I did like. It took awhile for Love Is and I Miss You to grow into some of my all time favorites.

No matter how simplistic a song, there's always some kind of meaning to be derived from it by somebody. Songs are very personal things, and one person could look at IDWK and find it complete barren, while another could look at it and find a narration to a personal situation or something. I'm sure FM/Stevie/Lindsey would never have even thought of some of the wierd/worrying takes I have on some of their songs lol.
