For a while I thought I was the only one in the world who loved Fleetwood Mac as much as myself.. until I found this wonderful place.

When my step-father hooked up our surround-sound he said to me, "Now you can listen to FLEETWOOD MAC and STEVIE NICKS downstairs!" They always make fun of me.. he tells my friends that I put a Stevie wig on and a black dress and dance around when I totally don't.

In my family, I am the only one who likes her with the exception of my Mom, who listens to Fleetwood Mac and some of Stevie's solo work once in a while. I did a project on Rumours in my college class and they asked me what songs they sing and I didn't even know where to start lol.

Is anyone else a lone Stevie fan like myself? Or are your family all die hard fans as well?

First of all, Welcome to the Ledge. It is wonderful place for us Fleetwood Mac / Stevie nerds!

I'm pretty much the only person in my circle of people that like FM / Stevie. My mom is somewhat a Stevie fan, but not really into Fleetwood Mac, while I'm crazy about Fleetwood Mac and somewhat a Stevie solo fan.

Also check out the FM "Battle of the Songs" that yours truly is doing along with the rest of the Ledgies.

I'm definitely a lone fan, although my Dad did used to enjoy the Tango In The Night album. Like you I'm abused for my fandom lol. In fact, amongst my colleagues at my Art University, I'm more commonly known as the Mac girl :p My Studio area is covered with pictures of the Mac, but mostly Stevie at the moment because I'm doing a project on her as a Cult/Religeous Icon. I'm doing a painting of her first with Lindsey as Adam and Eve which I think will be neat :p

I'm definitely not. My dad is a fan too (and you should've seen how upset he got when i took his vinyl copy of Rumours) and my mom, not so much (except I think she kinda likes Lindsey in his Mountain Man phase, but then again, she admits she likes Roger Daltrey best). As for with others, I never really mention my fandom so much (musically, most people know me for being a die-hard Led Zeppelin fan, to the point where I went all the way down to East Village just so see the buildings from the cover of Physical Graffiti)

Totally a lone fan here. My mum doesn't mind me having the CDs on in the car (which is good because it's MY car and I'm driving) but she prefers Blondie. One time Seven Wonders was on, and she went "... what the hell is she singing? Can you understand that?"

My Dad... I don't even know what music he likes. My brother likes pretty much whatever's in the top 40 at the moment, hes such a little trend-follower.

With my friends, my 4 bestest best friends... one of them is like my brother, one of them has no idea who they are, one of them is a massive Beatles fanatic, and the other likes Fleetwood Mac, but only their 70s stuff, something about the drums and guitar being too... something or other in the 80s. He's a musician, so he gets very technical.

None of the people I've ever dated were huge Mac / Stevie fans. My ex-boyfriend thought they were "alright" while the ex-girlfriend tried to argue that Pink > Stevie Nicks because, in her words, "None of Pink's albums have any filler on them, cause she writes all her songs herself... from her heart"

Oh dearie me.

Good luck with your project! I bet it will be awesome! and yea, I'm totally abused all the time.. my friend says Stevie is a witch and we argue about it a lot even though I've shown him videos where she explains why people said she was. And his response is that she wouldn't admit it if she really was. I get mad. lol

My mother is a huge Stevie fan and is the one who is mostly responsible for my fandom. My father died when I was very young but I think he was a fan as well. The rest of my friends/family are pretty much neutral.

While I am the only fan in my small family (hubby and kids) My older sister is a fan, and the one who hooked me on the Mac and Stevie :) I hve had the honor of going to a few concerts with her :)

But, Like I said in my family, I am the LONE Stevie fan, and I get made fun of ALL THE TME :)

Welcome to the boards!

For the longest time, I was the only one in my circle of friends and family who liked Stevie/F. Mac...then my niece was born in 1994 and I would play all of Stevie's songs for her up til today (she will be 16 on Halloween). Her first concert was SYW tour back in 2003. Now she is the only other person in my family besides myself who LOVES Stevie...and consequently, she is the only one at her High School who knows who Stevie is...but she's slowly been converting her friends.

I met my boyfriend 4 years ago. He owned "The Dance" and the white self titled F. Mac album from 1975, and of course has heard all the radio singles, but he wasn't a huge Mac or Stevie fan. 4 Years later, he now knows all the songs from the Mac and Stevie's solo career (thanks to moi) and he loves them!!!

I may not have converted all my friends and family, but just those 2 are enough for me to think I've made some sort of difference in turning others on to her music!

Is it greedy in the sense that I like being one of very few who appreciate the Mac/Lindsey/Stevie in my circle of friends/family/acquaintances? I feel like I have a lovely little secret, almost like a gift only to me.

Welcome :) I'm still kinda new since I rarely post anything

I'm the only one in my family/friends who likes the music I like. Stevie's my favorite but I love Grace Slick and Heart too and I'm the only one.
My dad and stepmom enjoy some Fleetwood Mac songs. It was my stepmom's The Very Best CD that got me hooked and she's seen a concert. My mom said she'd go to a Stevie and Fleetwood Mac concert with me :D

None of my siblings are fans. My sisters like more current stuff and my brother's more into hard rock. They all like to poke fun at my love for Stevie sometimes and they are all younger :/ My one sister doesn't like anything I like. I like Florence + The Machine she doesn't because she says she reminds her of Stevie. She is definatly not a fan of Stevie or The Mac.

My best friend likes Stevie but not to the extent I do. My boyfriend would be willing to go to a Stevie concert with me since he did take me to a Heart concert. His two favorites slower songs are Landslide and Silver Springs.

Yeah so looking at this I'm definatly alone haha, but not here :) I like it here

It's not greedy!! Haha, I actually never thought of it this way, but now that you say that, it's a good way to look at it! No one will ever know the way her music has touched me and gotten me through rough times. It's amazing.

I LOVE Florence + the Machine! OMG! I seen her perform on the MTV video Awards and I was went right out to buy her album, Lungs. One thing that I was thinking while I was watching her perform was that her outfit reminded me of something exactly like Stevie would wear. I had no idea that Stevie is actually one of Florence's music idols! My friend told me that was really weird, that I liked Florence because she was like Stevie and Stevie turned out to be Florence's idol!

When I saw her on the MTV Video Award is when I started liking her too. And that is the same reason I started liking her. She reminded me of Stevie.
She's one of the few current people I like.

 Mine's the exact opposite. I say "Can I have some Blondie on?" and get "NO. Have you got any Fleetwood Mac?"

My Dad... I don't even know what music he likes. My brother likes pretty much whatever's in the top 40 at the moment, hes such a little trend-follower.

My step dad likes FM, but he's not massive on them. My little sister sounds like she'd get on with your brother *ugh* it disgusts me to walk past her room and hear the chart show, although GYOW is her all time favourite song and she has a little crush on Linds. My Mum is a Stevie fan through and through, she has the moons and the insence everywhere and wears waterfall cardigans and floaty sweaters. It gets too much very quickly.

So no, I'm not alone in my love for FM but I'm alone in my love for Christine. I start raving about her and they look at me like I've just dribbled on my shirt. None of my friends or family really like '69 to '74 Mac, which is my favourite. Mum loves TITN and Dad just listens to The VBO in the car.

I was very openly a complete FM and SN freak in my teens and early twenties (roughly from about '78 to '86 ish). But then, I don't know what happened, I just drifted off music completely. It was weird. And I did a lot of writing and reading instead.

And then ... about six months ago ... BAM! It all came back. Like someone flipped a switch. I think it might have been sparked by a screenplay I was trying to write, which made me listen to 'Sara'!

Thing is, I met and married my old man in the non-music phase, so this is all a bit extreme for him! It's OK, though. He likes some FM, and he likes Stevie's voice (if not always her songs or the production sound, which is hard to argue with).

Some of the people who've been in my life the longest (my sisters, a couple of friends) are like 'Oh, you're back to that!' and just laugh.

I kind of agree, tho, with the person who said it's nice to be 'out of step' a little.

And I'm just thrilled to have found The Ledge (which is the only message board I've ever been on, and am slowly learning the etiquette of, so sorry if I get things wrong).

I'm a lone fan in my family. Well, everyone knows who they are and my dad likes them but never listen to them, my mum I don't think she likes them that well, she never listen to them and my sisters..no. lol But it was my dad who made me start listen to Fleetwood Mac. And now they know much about them just because I am a die hard fan and listen to them every day...but yeah, I'm a lone fan yeah. :) And even in my old class, while I was a soo obsessed die hard fan in 2008/09, nobody knew who Stevie was when I did a project about her in school, actually, most of them thought she was a guy before they saw a picture of her....
Now, some of my friends in class know who they are, because I'm in a music class :)

I can't function properly in a single day without the music of the 5 wonderful people in the Mac.

My best friend thought she was a dude too! :o She asked me what I was listening to and I said 'Outside the Rain by Stevie Nicks' and she asked me if that was one of his better songs!! I was like, SERIOUSLY? She still calls her a guy every chance she gets even though she knows better!

This may sound weird, but not even my best friends know that i adore & listen to Stevie's music all the time, like driving in my car or at home alone during the day & staying up till 2am listening with headphones on every night whilst on my computer scanning the ledge & many nights watching Stevie clips on you tube. I didn't tell anyone that i drove 2hrs to see the Unleashed concert on my own, i had the best time ever.. It was such a buzz, i didn't feel alone surrounded by SO many other excited Mac fans..
My 3 teenage son's don't mind hearing my Stevie music in small dose's, also my 70 yr old Dad thinks Mick Fleewood is the best crazy drummer on the planet,
But yeah im def a lone Stevie fan outside my home...

xD That's so weird. Last time I went out with my mum, we were sat in the car, in the carpark, dancing and singing along to Rapture for ages until my mum was all "We're starting to look a little weird, time to stop"

The only Fleetwood Mac song she really knows is Little Lies, and my brother loves to sing "pick up the pieces and go home" whilst laughing at me when he wants me to go back to my flat D=<

My mom likes FM (she came into my room once when I had Rumours on repeat and was like "This is a great album...all the songs on here are good."), but most of my friends don't. Being at music college, when you introduce yourself, the format is basically; name, semester, principle instrument, favorite band/type of music. I always get weird looks when I say Fleetwood Mac. :( YOU'RE NOT ALONE.

(Haha, my roommate is like "WHENEVER I HEAR FM, I THINK OF YOU NOW. :D)

People ask me what they sing when I tell them their my favorite band. One girl the other day was like, "Wait, don't they sing stop draggin' my Heart around?"
I was like, "Close, but Fail."

My mom seems to like FM & Stevie. She sings along a bit in the car if an FM song comes on, and she's talked about Stevie a little bit (stuff that I already knew of course ) but it was nice that she showed the interest. She really doesn't seem to be into music as much as she used to be, and music is a huge part of my life so anything I can get out of her I'll take.
