Dave Stewart's website for his upcoming album now has a 17 minute preview for each of his 14 new songs.

I must say, the clip for "Cheaper Than Free" is incredible...and I think, based on the gorgeous lyrics, and of course Stevie's voice, that it's going to be a great song.

Hopefully, it's a good indication of how Stevie's album will sound...production-wise.

Oh wow... Stevie's voice is in REALLY good shape! She is singing so softly and beautifully... none of that terrible projecting she's been overdoing the past dozen years. Sounds like her time with Dave is being very well spent! I really like Dave's production style for these songs, too. Very crisp, spacious, and not overproduced! I'd have to say I've got a LOT more confidence in Stevie's upcoming album after hearing these clips!

If this is any indication of the way her new album will sound, we are in for a fabulous record! This is great, and I cannot wait to hear more!!

Umm, her voice does sound excellent and infact, they sound great together. The song is great. But judgeing from the preveiw of the songs, it looks like they made more than just albums. They seem to definitely be an item, especially after listening to the song previews.

I hate to say this, but I kinda like some of the other songs on his album more than this one. It's kind of stiff and awkward sounding to me- not the sound of two voices working seamlessly in unison. From the title alone, I was hoping it would be some kind of upbeat rockabilly/honky tonk kind of a ditty, so this is a little bit of a disappointment. I doubt Stevie's album will sound anything like this since this is a concept album.

I'd say you are more than accurate on that one. :-)

Yuck! But I concur. Stevie Baby is a rather overt valentine.

As for Stevie-Dave as an artist-producer collab. I'm still scared. The 8 songs that resulted from his collab with Bryan Ferry are brilliant, but I've only heard the versions AFTER Bryan re recorded them with his peeps and his producer Rhett Davies (who should also produce the new Mac album ;) )

It sounds like it was about to pick up.

Isn't he married?

If not, they're totally doing the horizontal monster mash.

Another songs that sound like he could be singing about Stevie - "Gypsy Girl and Me" Or is that just me? I didn't listen to it, I just skipped to Cheaper Than Free.

I like how she's singing here though, I hope he's encouraging her to use her voice in more subtle ways for her album too, she's not really a belter anymore.

Listening to this now and I am actually really liking it. I really like Bullet Proof Vest with Colbie. I just love her voice. Am I the only one that thinks that Dave sounds like Tom Petty?
Hmm Stevie Baby is very very interesting. Are we sure that Dave is still married? ha ha!!
I like Stevie's voice on Cheaper than Free but this song will have to grow on me. Its not bad but it just doesnt grab me like some of the other songs on this cd.

The first thought I had when I heard this track was, "it sounds like Insider w/T. Petty."

Initial thoughts - the album as a whole is much too country for my taste but then again our girl is all about them country crooners and apparently so is Dave these days (but we knew that). I say break out the synth Dave, ha! I guess I'm just a creature of habit and I don't like change. The production however is fabulous and I do respect that fact that he has evolved and blossomed so beautifully in another genre. That's true talent!

Stevie Baby is so sweet! What an honor it must be for Stevie to have a song written and performed about her on his album and how special I bet that makes her feel *swoon* @ DaveStewart. I would have preferred the title "Well Stevie Baby" but beggars can't be choosers .

Before I read the comments I thought he sounded a whole lot like a combination of Petty and Dylan. Kind of creepy!

Cheaper Than Free - Oh my, she sounds like the sweet little darling angel we all know she is not :p.

But, surprisingly, I'm really liking Dave's stuff. I didn't know I would.

Just reading about Dave's upcoming products:

The album is going to include 14 songs and is going to come as a double gatefold vinyl album, 7″ vinyl singles, a documentary DVD, CD an app plus as full digital download over the next months! Read the full tracklist below.

This got me thinking that Stevie fans will have to pick up Dave's documentary dvd too, because it's sure to have footage of Stevie, which will be in addition to whatever she has in her own documentary.

After giving this some thought overnight I'm having some fears. I'm assuming that Stevie's album will have a similar sound to Dave's since he produced both of them and wrote some songs. His album is very country-ish to my ears and if that's how Stevie's album is going to sound I would be gravely disappointed. I mean I'm keeping an open mind here but I highly doubt we are going to get synthesizers and drum machines on Stevie's new tracks from the sound of these. I really hope this new album doesn't turn out to be a continuation of Too Far From Texas or Street Angel part 2 . Thoughts??

Lets not forget this is a concept album.. And I too thought it didn't sound all that bad as whole.. Stevie sounds beautiful as always to my bias ears.
We know what Stevie is like, it'll be HER album more than any other, other than Bella Donna.
I for one am expecting great things, some may say I'm foolish to have high hopes but I trust this thing is going to work..

Us + March = or

Personally, I would pass out from happiness if Stevie's album was straight up country. But then, I love country, provided it's not of the "new" variety.

However, seeing as how it hasn't been described as being country, the most I would expect is at least one twangy song, which wouldn't be unusual for Stevie. Remember that Bella Donna was actually fairly country, and most of us think of that as Stevie's best. She's a country girl at heart!

The song Cheaper then Free is most definitely going to appear on her album too. How do I know? It's the only song that will not be downloaded into the Nokia phone they are giving away. Stevie said she didn't want anyone to have early copies of the songs from her album. I'm happy. That is a really good song from what I can tell and she sounds excellent on it.

LYRICS

"Stevie Baby":

Stevie baby
I got a lot of things to say to you
Stevie baby
I hope we get to see it all come true

I am leather, you are lace
I remember the look on your face
Like an angel from a higher place
High enough to fall from grace

Stevie baby
I got a lot of things to say to you
Stevie baby
I hope we get to see it all come true

Just one second, just one kiss
to realize all the things I missed
I'm playing Rock a Little just to reminisce
I never thought we'd meet again like this....

"Cheaper than Free"

What's cheaper than free?
You and me
What's better than alone?
Going home
What does money not buy?
You and I
What's not to fear?
When love is real

Yes, and it's also a throw down to both Donovan AND Buckingham. Who he think he is? Dave Stewart ain't fit to carry their ********s. i think this album sounds like ****. but let's hope that he provides the atmosphere to get Stevie's juices flowing for her own record.

Again, I think she sounds great, and I am excited that SHE is excited!

Stevie is a true artist at heart, and I have no fear her album will be anything less than wonderful.

I can't see her, at this stage in the game, putting her name on some run of the mill crap. She will deliver!

That's called a half-rhyme, and it's totally acceptable.

Depends on the music and the placement of the words. What's acceptable for poetry doesn't necessarily suit the rhythm of a song.
