View Full Version : It's gonna be a LONG five months!

October 5, 2010; and the target date (for now) release for Stevie's new cd is March, 2011- this forum, while wonderful, is suffering!
It will be worth the wait, but to think how quickly the songs were diligently recorded, with SN saying this August that 14 songs were completed- How unfair and unreasonable this long wait seems. Please don't lecture me about how long mixing and mastering takes, Dave S. could have- and may have- done some as they were recording.
Leak a single, already :) Or, have an on-line pre-release, then release it again in March to fit her silly* timeframe. * to me. -- I realize, it's her cd and she can do as she pleases.
I guess all that we have to look forward to, if at all, is Jana's cryptic mention that Fleetwood Mac will be performing in Australia this month. Yay.
Hejira deserves the credit for uncovering that info, and also, Hejira deserves no blame if it turns out Jana is out of her mind and it doesn't happen.
I complain a lot, I'm going to have to learn a 'completely new way' of doing so!
It's so important to record and write in a 'completely new way' only to have it held up, in the completely same way as always.
Kvetching komplete. I'm loathsome to object, I know.

Personally, I think a March release is extremely optimistic. Stevie has said that's their "target" release...but I think it's safe to add a month or two onto any "target" that she might have this early.

^ True enough, Josh!
That's why she should have just put it out, immediately, it would have been so refreshing, she may have even had a hit :)

I'm looking at it this way, it's been about 10 months since we found out about this project. In half that amount of time, we should have the finished product in our hands. Doesn't seem so long to me. :) Josh is almost undoubtedly right that there will be delays. It'll get here when it gets here. Somehow I'm doing a good job about holding my excitement and expectations back.

^ You're right, Louie.
I just find it a lot of bulls*it about how quickly they recorded songs, how it was an entirely new way of writing and recording, and now they're just gonna hold it back for months and let it be another series of delays, like every other cd in her career. The spontaneous approach, completed and issued fast, for once, would have been so refreshing. Risky- yes- but the best music often is. Why play it safe? Doing so in the past has resulted in mediocre sales and product. This could have been a big deal. Now, it feels like it will just be a typical release with too much time to tweak their admirably fast momentum as they worked.
But, yes, it gets here when it gets here. That's an exciting attitude in itself- not- for Stevie and or Dave to take.

the only good thing about the wait...is that it will
have time to be exactly how she wants it. sequence, sound-wise, aesthetically, etc., etc... we all know that some of her official releases
lack a certain something, but it would seem
apparent that this maybe her last releases.
that, and if the soundstage stuff is any indication,
we're in for a pretty fantastic product.
anyway, otherwise op is dead on. this is a great
thread.

Last night in a dream I was shown the lyrics to a new song of Stevie's that was to be on the upcoming new FM album. The song was called Consider This and it was written by S. Nicks, Chas Sanford & Mike Campbell and it was produced by Jimmy Iovine. I couldn't see the individual words on the paper because it was dropped in front of me, not held in front. As it settled on the floor I was impressed by how many words encompassed the song. Not your usual hardly-any-words-to the-song- of songs written by Stevie.
And I know the dream was inspired by my reading of this thread yesterday. And the only reason I could make out who wrote and produced it was because it was listed at the bottom of the song in bigger letters than the lyrics.

This could backfire as well. After too many sequence attempts, songs could get dropped, verses changed and lyrics re-written and vocals re-recorded - leading to a trip back to the studio and further delays resulting in a 'safe' album that is creatively sterile.
I think Stevie second-guesses herself far too often. For all her talk over ther years about being independent and free-minded, I've always seen her as a woman lacking a certain kind of self-confidence that would allow her to just be without concern for how others perceive her.
Which is why I think the coke was so appealing.
