Condensing A HUUUUUGE Video File on QuickTime Player

Hey all. Just a quick tech question. I have a quicktime player and a MAC. I'm wanting to shrink a video file so that I can e-mail it to a few friends and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to do that without having to join some file sharing website.

Upload it to YouTube, be patient while it uploads and processes and email the link? :shrug:
