in honor of me leaving/losing my crescent moon necklace in a hotel tues night (RIP), i felt the need to start a thread.

first, i have a question. i read somewhere that stevie used to pass those things out like candy to her friends and people who were involved in her records. didn't she give the guys in the mac one too? :lol: i'm sure the look on lindsey's face was priceless. anyway, i wonder if any of those have made their way to ebay. i guess it would be hard to prove it came from her, but imagine having one of those necklaces :shocked:

next. what's your favorite pic of stevie with her crescent moon? i was looking for one, and i'm finding it harder than i thought it would be. live, candid, photoshoots, i don't care. just any good pic where the moon is visible.

I actually dunno of any pics with her Stevie moon on (but I have seen her wearing more bling than a jewelry store carries lol), but as for your firstquestion, I have seen a black-and-white pic of *shudders* Mick wearing one and another color pic of Lindsey wearing one as a pin. As for John, he seemed to be too badass to wear one and chose to wear a penguin pin instead.

The moon necklaces have been sold on ebay before. Though I guess the question if they are real or where the real thing or not I'm not sure has ever been answered. Though they did appear real to me. I do recall at the time they were very very expensive starting at $650.00 and up most of the time they went for over 1000.00 I do recall. There were the yellow gold ones I saw up and one that had the diamond chip if thats what you call it in the moon itself. I know I've always always wanted an original one but the prices were too high. Plus Stevie did rings I think for all solo tours and some Fmac ones for her friends as well. Though I'm not sure about the BD tour unless someone can clarify that one? I know I'd love some of that stuff (like the WH tour rings or necklaces) etc but the prices were just too high. I know I'd always love the white gold moonstone on Stevie's hand in the 'Stop Draggin' picture sleeve (ballet pose photo)thats what Dorothy told me it was.....but don't think it was ever for sale?....anyway,I guess I can always dream can't I................shrug: PS the new diamond necklace is nice but I do prefer the older ones.... :)

Linda Ronstadt wears one for the cover of her 1976 'Hasten Down The Wind' album. Not saying that Stevie gave it to her, though. I don't think these two Arizonians crossed paths much. This is such a beautiful photo. It is one of my favorite photos of all time, in fact.

There's a picture in one of Stevie's tourbooks with Barbara Nicks done up in Stevie 80's drag (big permed blond wig, shoulder pads) possibly for a Halloween party (?). I'm pretty sure I remember a gold crescent on her neck, if someone has the tourbooks scanned maybe they can dig up the picture.

I think in the other photo with all 4 girls sitting around the palm tree dressed in white Lori actually has one on in that photo although I don't have a scanned pic readily available.

Also, I thought either Bette Midler or Chrissie Hynde was actually wearing one in a more recent photo taken with Stevie, like 2005 or so, but I can't seem to find the picture, anyone out there have it?

Looks like Stevie's moon has waxed and waned over the years. I wonder if she changed up the direction intentionally... was there a specific period of time she wore it a certain way?
