Well I don't mean to be overly dramatic, but I also don't want people to say "whatever happened to chriskisn?" so I'll post my intentions here...

I haven't spent that much time on the Ledge recently, things in my personal life have been getting busy and to be honest, the discussion on here can be very Stevie/Lindsey centred which I tend not to contribute that much to.

I've tried over the past couple of years to start and contribute to discussions on the other "lesser known" members of Fleetwood Mac, and I'm sure I'll be remembered in some way for my devotion to Mr Walker.

Anyway, all of that aside, a week ago this came along...

http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u19/thekimbers/DSCF0471.jpg

His name is Oliver Michael Kimber, he weighed in at 8lb 3oz and was delievered by emergency caesarean at 2.39am on 14th August. It wasn't quite the birth we expected though. At midnight my wife said "I think my waters have broken but I'm bleeding quite a lot" and two and half hours later our little boy was here. After six days in hospital (of which I stayed over every night) we are home and eating breakfast at midday and dinner at 1opm. Oh well.

So, as a result, I really don't have time for The Ledge, and as I was drifting away anyway, I thought I should probably go. If we get a new Fleetwood Mac album I might even be back.

Thank you to everyone who I've chatted to and/or discussed Fleetwood Mac with over the past two years.

Congratulations on the new beauty!

I have always enjoyed your posts because you were always positive. Your comments were always a welcome sight in the Pre-Rumours section. I'm sure you will be greatly missed. I don't really understand why you feel the need to leave? Has someone been rude to you?

Has anyone ever written anything for you?

Why thank you Viv.

No-one has been rude to me, I'm just leaving because I can better spend my time now than sitting on the computer. I'm a Dad now, and if I'm sitting on the Ledge I could be spending time with my wife or my little boy. As many people would already know, the internet can consume all of your time, whether it be facebook, farmtown, chat, or whatever, sometimes you miss out on what is really important because of the computer.

When I was Oliver's age, my dad was working 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. He didn't do it because he wanted to, he did it through necessity. He would still get up at night with Mum though to feed and change me. However, my memories of my childhood are of my Dad always been too busy to play. Even he says that he isn't going to make the same mistake with his grandson. Personally I don't want have those regrets of not spending enough time with my son.

So yes, that is why I am leaving. I'm not slamming the door on the way out, I'm saying thanks for the hospitality and hitting the road!

Congratulations on the beautiful new baby! I am sorry to hear you won't be at The Ledge, though. Maybe you'll come back and visit us sometimes? I know I didn't agree with you about Dave Walker, but I enjoyed talking with you about Danny Kirwan and Bob Welch. I will definitely miss you! Still, your wife and son are very lucky to have someone who wants to be attentive to them! I'm sure you'll be a great dad!!

I hear what your saying about the 'computer' eating up time well spent with others and family. I think all this technology has taken us all away from the simplier things in life. Just sitting and talking and spending time with each other. Now not saying that it doesn't help us in our lifes but it does become this all comsuming 'thing' if we let it be (but I guess that can be with anything really.....) so enjoy your life with your wife and son and family. I do hope you will come back every so often but if the choice is to not thats ok too. You must do what makes you happy. Best wishes......take care.....Life can be too short so enjoy of it what you can and make the best of it too!! :D

Congratulations Chris, your son is beautiful and I can understand why you'd want to concentrate on 'real' life. I enjoy your blog - so hopefully you'll have a bit of time to keep that going.

Best Wishes

This is so great :) Whenever someone makes this kind of choice, the world becomes a better place..
Your son is beautiful; I hope your wife is doing well.. Enjoy your little family!
