There will be an EXCLUSIVE VIP event surrounding the Stevie Nicks Concert in Atlantic City, NJ before the Stevie Nicks Concert. It will begin at 6pm Eastern. All media outlets are invited for coverage on this unique event.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PRLog (Press Release) – Aug 17, 2010 – FOR OFFICIAL AND IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
in regards to the Stevie Nicks Concert in Atlantic City.
On behalf of the administrators and myself,Agent to Radio Host and Designer Joshua-Paul Angell, we would like to invite you to send a film crew or reporter to Atlantic City on 27th of August. In hopes of an upcoming special on Stevie. If you want the story, see details.
We have a group that has organized the Stevie Nicks Exclusive Pre-Show Party which will be held at the Hard Rock Cafe, located at the Donald Trump Taj Mahal. The event will start at 6:00pm Eastern.
The underlying theme to this event is the UNCONDITIONAL BOND that is created among Stevie's fans. Extending many years back to present, through all walks of life, this bond is unique and showcase by the attending individuals, some of which are very high profile.
It is Stevie Nicks' magical lyrics that brought "us" together, and these poignant individuals that will be hosting this event.
We are taking this upon ourselves to introduce Kathy Law Foussider, a fellow Stevie fan, that has graciously offered her Steviefied home, to fellow Stevie fans, that are complete strangers outside of Facebook. Her precious time and energy, selflessness to fellow fans make it possible for us to attend this concert. Many of us coming in stemming from Chicago, Houston, Oklahoma City, Delaware, Florida, California, Missouri- not to mention Ireland.
Yes, Ireland, this "unconditional bond" that is created among Stevie's fans has brought Alan and Nikita, brother and sister from Ireland, they are coming in to see Stevie perform live. They have never been to America, and they have no family here.
Group Administrator, Arlene Lewis, who created Sisters of the Moon, which is a huge success, has put together a scrapbook for Stevie that will relay our very personal messages, in remembrance of Patricia McCoy, that recently passed away from cabcer.
Joshua-Paul Angell, who is a fashion designer for Rosanne Barr and Betty Buckley, will be making a RARE personal appearance, as he has since retired at the young age of 31, although he designs now for charity. Joshua-Paul is personal friends with large names in both the fashion industry, and radio industry, as well as the political atmosphere.
Just some of the others in attendance:
Sandy which has held us up with many, many updates and keeps us well rounded.
Missy, coming in from Florida, graciously is showing her love by inviting a select few to join her in her suite.
Nelda Wilson, the creator of this event, who has worked tirelessly to showcase the unconditional bond that revolves around the legendary Stevie Nicks, of Fleetwood Mac fame.
We would like to convey that we are having a Exclusive Fan Party, showcasing Stevie Nicks and her biggest supporters. These are people who actually develop true and meaningful friendships that stem from the talent of Stephanie Lynn Nicks, which shows the Uncondional Bond that is magical.
The information within this Official Press Release is only a small portion of the story that can be had here to provide you with a unique story showcasing Stevie Nicks' appearance in Atlantic City, NJ on August 27 of 2010

Oh dear... some people will stop at nothing to get attention. And if I were a clothing designer, I would not exactly boast about Roseanne Barr wearing one of my creations. Let's just say she is not exactly what I think of when I think of a style icon.

The writing of a good press release is something of a fine art, and as a person often hired by companies to write press releases, I must say that reading this was almost physically painful. It's like an example of everything you DON'T do if you want to write a professional press release.
Of course, someone could argue that this is just a fan party and therefore doesn't need a professional press release. And if someone argued that, I would totally agree! Except if you don't need a professional press release, then you don't need a press release at all.
That thing is not doing anyone ANY favors here. Yikes.

Yar, that too - but even if you're going to use PRLog, you can at least write the damn thing well.
I feel like I am being really mean here, but...I am really mean in general, so I guess it's not unexpected at the very least?
Seriously, though, y'all - if any of you wanna throw a Stevie party and do a press release about it in future, give me a shout so we can cobble something together that will actually represent you WELL. It'll be fun and I won't want to bang my forehead on my desk repeatedly - everyone wins!

Louie and Zombie wrote what I was thinking, when I first read this.
I waited to reply; because I think it's sad, when fans get goofy enough to want press coverage for their fandom. I've seen it before, with fans of other performers. It can, and usually does, give 'fans' a bad reputation and it can get ugly.
I also think it's a smarmy way to treat the performer, for a group of fans to seek media coverage for themselves when her name is being used without permission. There doesn't even seem to be a charity involved.
As lacking as the press release was, the 'desperately seeking validation' vibe made me feel bad for the people involved. Yet, the people traveling from Ireland for the concert is touching.
I wish them all a fun time with their event, but, yes, it strikes me as 'creepy' also.

Exclusive?! Give me a break! I have been a fan for 32 years and been to over 100 concerts but I would NEVER even dream of putting on such a breathtaking display of egomaniacal behavior as these people are. We are all fans I dont care if youve been to 0 or 1000 shows. Who is anyone to assume they're a bigger fan than someone else. These people need to get an F-ing Life!

That struck me, too. I might feel a little differently if they were raising money for the iPod thing or cancer research or something. But this just sounds like a party for some friends, and there is no need for a press release about that. I mean, I don't issue a press release every time I do something mundane like that. "ATTENTION MEDIA: THAT ONE HOT GUY I'M SEEING AND I JUST DECIDED TO STAY IN AND WATCH A DVD. If we're feeling really froggy, we may even have popcorn and invite a friend or two over to watch it with us! Major media outlets are sure to find prime fodder for the evening news, so this amazing event is open to any members of the press ready to capture the magic of our special bond, which may or may not include That One Hot Guy not getting annoyed at me when I accidentally hit the fast forward button instead of the pause button for the 7th time in a row and us running out of Guinness not even halfway through the opening credits!"
Yeah, no.
But, to be fair, if I add something like, "Proceeds go towards Feed the Bear-Jew, a charity devoted to raising enough money to keep Eli Roth in blueberries (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_zSXkpbAmt1c/SuaWzkmNdOI/AAAAAAAAACQ/21Du7rhdy_c/s400/eli1.jpg) for the rest of his natural days, thus keeping the world safe for democracy!" then it's totes legit.

Just because you reserved a table for eight at the Hard Rock Cafe doesn't mean there needs to be reporters involved! :sorry:

I see that these folks are gathering, in part, to honor a Ledgie who recently passed away. I can understand and respect that. I get the idea that these fans want to gather and bond over their love of Stevie; I just don't understand the dramatic and painful-to-read press release." Seriously, why would anyone be interested in a pre-concert get-together?

First off let me say that I am not a part of this event but I really don't understand all the confusion by the folks who have responded to this post. Jannie, haven't you expressed in another thread how you wished you could have gotten together with some Ledgies while you were in NYC for the Night of a Thousand Stevie's? And hasn't many a Ledgie expressed their desire to meet up with other members to see each other face to face before many a show? Just because these fans want media attention, I personally don't see a problem with that. And many of you Ledgies are friends with Arlene.

I know Jannie's said this stuff before too - I figured she was referring to the media not wanting to come to the event. But to that, I say they might. My local news stations cover all sorts of stupid stuff that I couldn't care less about. Not saying that a Stevie event is stupid, but my point is it might get picked up by a local station if it's a slow news night.

It doesn't seem like anyone is confused about Stevie fans getting together before the show, just the reasoning behind sending an invitation to the media to cover it as an "Exclusive, VIP" event.

I'm going to say this... THIS was something that was written WITHOUT anyone's knowledge or CONSENT- Kathy Law Foussadier, myself, nor ANYONE ELSE involved in this letter had any idea this was written (other then after the fact, when it was sent to all of the "Admins" of this event)! - There is "NO" VIP event, nor does Kathy Foussadier have her home OPEN for everyone to camp out! She's having people such as myself, and several others stay with her, as we go back many years. This event is encompassing "ANYONE" who would like to attend, beforehand, which so far about 50 people who will be attending! So just to clear this up-everyone who is attending is extremely excited, as we all are, and there was NOTHING meant to exclude anyone, and NO ONE is out to get "Anyone's attentions" here! We are "ALL" fans, and it's a very exciting fan get-together- which we can't be prouder of! And we'd love for everyone to attend!

To clear up "Why" fans would be interested in a pre-concert get together.. Well, there are at least 50+ people coming in from all over the world, a Brother and Sister, who the Sister is one of our "Ledgies" too- Gypsy Nikita~ There are others who go way back with each other, such as myself, Kathy Foussadier, and many others- from the Stevie (online) community for well over 12+ years... and someone had mentioned that it would be a really fun thing to do, for all of us to meet up before the show, get a LOT of pictures, which I'm sure will be shared here, and have a drink together, just as I'm sure a LOT of us have done, as I have met up with Ledgies before FM shows many other times prior! Dallas 2003- Say You Will tour? I know many of our Ledgies were there! So this is just one more of those kind of things, and that's not anything "weird or foreign" to MANY of our Ledgies! Hopefully, now, this is making sense..

Thank you SO much Viv! You're a doll! There are MANY Ledgies who I have "personally" had the pleasure of meeting up with over the years, so why a "preshow get together" is so WEIRD and foreign is a mystery to me, when MANY of us have! Now the letter.. I had no knowledge of, until after the fact, as I mentioned..

Heya, Arlene,
I can't speak for everyone commenting here, but for myself, I totally understand the desire to have a fan party before a show. I myself would totally throw one or attend one if the opportunity arose. So please don't misunderstand - I'm happy you guys are having a party, which sounds like a lot of fun, and I hope you all have a blast. So that's totally not the WTF for me.
The WTF for me was just the press release itself, for several reasons, not least of which is the way it's written. The whole thing is just really quite puzzling on several levels - why a press release for a fan party? Why PRLog? What did the writer hope to achieve with this? I think it's casting you guys in a light you don't want or deserve to be cast in, which is unfair to all involved.

Hey Girlfriend- Thanks so much for the sweet words, as I can't agree more... I'm SO glad that I had someone call me to tell me about this on the Ledge, so I could come on here and answer questions. Not one of us were asked for a "consent" to "OK' this letter being put out anywhere, and none of us had any idea that this sort of thing would even be put out to the public, as all it was - was a fb page started by a friend of ours. Not sure what they were trying to achieve, nor why they chose whatever they chose, and yes, this is totally "against" anything that the people she mentioned in the letter, were about! All we are after is a great get together with a lot of people coming from all over the place to finally meet each other, and it seems this person, or people took this and put a "Glorified" slant to it, which NONE of us are about! We're just basically out to have a blast and meet other fans! No "VIP" no Glorified anything - No "needing a pass" to come, just plain old, good fashioned fan get-together - period! You summed it up beautifully, and I thank you SO much for the sweet post~

Arlene- there was never any need to clear up why STEVIE FANS would be interested in a pre-concert get together. The puzzlement centered on why anyone would think THE MEDIA would care. Enjoy the party and of course, the show. There really is nothing like a bunch of Stevie fans getting together. As I stated much earlier in this thread, it feels great to be surrounded by fellow fans...especially friends.

So that was my response to that part.. I know we've had SO many "Ledgie" pre-show get togethers so that's why I was like.. "Why would she say that"? So that was my response to that part.. I know we've had SO many "Ledgie" pre-show get togethers so that's why I was like.. "Why would she say that"? And yes, it does feel GREAT to have fun with fellow friends, and especially people we go back with, and have communicated, not only on-line, but by phone for over 12 years- It's really something incredible! I'm very excited and feel very blessed to be a part of all of the excitement! :xoxo:
Anyone else, is how I should have phrased it. Hopefully this clears up any and all confusion all around.

Arlene, it's pathetic people are attacking you like this. Anyways, love you and Sara - see you next Friday! :) xoxox
No, what's pathetic is a person exploiting a friend's death for attention with the aim of forcing Stevie's hand into meeting them. I think all Stevie fans have a right to take issue with this... the poorly written press release makes us all appear to be nutbags, and using the cover story of a fellow fan's tragic death as ammo is just deplorable.
I have no problem with fan parties. They're great! But to invite the press to them, in hopes of presenting a homemade scrapbook to Stevie herself? It just comes across as super, super creepy and downright desperate.
This is my opinion, these are my feelings, and I have a right to them. I WILL NOT be painted as a "hater" for calling things as I seem them. I've been on this board for nearly a decade now. I know all the personalities. I know how they work, I know what makes them tick. This is just another bait and switch argument. And I won't be insulted regarding what I feel to be true.

I'd like to ask you "WHO" is exploiting a friend's death here? No one is doing anything like you are speaking about.. I tell you.. the "haters" on this board are truly out there.. So sad.. Really sorry you see people's "excitement" and turn it into jealousy and hate.. I can assure you, that I won't let YOUR nor anyone else's "lame" comments such as this ruin the fun that we are experiencing, and WILL be further experiencing in the week to follow! It's a shame others who "DO" see what's going on, the proper way, wish everyone nothing but well, as I'm doing to all people who are going to any and all shows!
Oh, and as a PS- You've already "insulted yourself"

You're sadly misinformed, and obviously don't know Arlene if you'd even consider that she would do that. So, stop making yourself look like an ignorant moron and shut up.

Hi all. I am going to this pre concert party also to finally meet some Stevie fans I have met online for a while now. I am just excited to finally meet fans and have this chance to rock out to Stevie. This press release also shocked me, but am moving forward and past this... to the white sand..... Arlene is a dear friend and we are all shocked and surprised just like everyone else is. (I am only guessing that Stevie excitement got the best of someone and got carried away).
I say... ROCK ON and move on.....

I might be a moron, but I am not ignorant when it comes to the personalities on this board. Your join date was a month ago... mine was a decade ago. There are but a handful of people who still post here who have a join date older than mine. I know just what certain people do for attention, I've watched it for a LONG time. I know all about Arlene's "By Invitation Only" Facebook club. I know about the "Wall Of Shame," where she posts people's pictures who have differing opinions from her, and y'all riducle them as a group. Very, very high school for a woman of her age. Arlene only comes here when she wants attention and to drop a nuclear bomb. Her "sweetness" is purely an act. The sooner you realize that, the better.

Regardless, I hope everyone going to the remaining shows have a fabulous time. Stevie sure seems to be doing us proud

Whoopsie! It appears we are now having shenanigans, doesn't it? Sweet!
I'm glad so many of you are going to get together before the show to wang chung tonight and all of that good stuff, because that certainly sounds like Good Times, but those of you that are attending and getting angry at the rest of us that were raising valid points about the oddness of that press release really need to sit back and take a deep breath here.
No one was attacking Arlene. We were examining a press release that Viv posted and pointing out some of the problems we were having with it. If any attacking was going on, then it was just us "attacking" a bad press release. Not a specific person.
Unless we count me mentioning that reading it was physically painful on account of it was so badly written as "attacking" the writer, I mean. Because, in that case, then I totally was. And I would do it again, too, because that shizz offends my tender professional sensibilities in a multitude of ways.
But things didn't start getting personally nasty until some of y'all attendees had a kneejerk "ZOMG TEH HATERZEZ BE ALL HATIN!1!!!111one!eleventyone!!1" reaction. I don't condone personally nasty (unless it's me doing it, of course. Because that's different - I do it all for the lulz), but accusing people of teh hatin' for having valid opinions that just happen to disagree with yours is poor form, chaps. Poor form indeed.
Anyway, y'all say that the press release was written without your knowledge and it's misrepresenting you - well, fair enough. That totally sucks, and I am sorry someone did that to you. But none of us did that to you. As it so happens, none of us had anything other than the press release to go on regarding this event, and you have to admit that based on how it's written alone, it just doesn't sound good. At all. But you need to be pissed off at the person that wrote that without your permission and made y'all look bad, NOT at the people merely pointing out that it's making y'all look bad.
Because that press release IS making you look bad. And at this point, I have to say that spazzing out on us is not helping you look any better.
Zombie
08-20-2010, 04:56 AM
And now a separate post from the above, to address specific people, so if anyone decides I'm hatin,' then we'll all be absolutely certain who I'm hatin' on.
I can totally dig that. I think you need to have a talk with whoever wrote that thing, because, like it or not, it is a BAD thing. I would intensely dislike having my full name associated with something that's been painted in such a light, particularly in relation to a fandom that I hold so dear - because once stuff is on the Internet, it's there forever. What's more, any PR person worth his/her salt keeps an eye out for what is being said about his/her clients, and the idea of any of Stevie's people reading that thing is really depressing.
Arlene, it's pathetic people are attacking you like this. Anyways, love you and Sara - see you next Friday! :) xoxox

y u mad
Whether or not someone would actually exploit a friend's death in real life is not really the issue here. The issue is that the press release is written in such a way as to suggest that someone is doing just that. You can't expect everyone that reads that thing to magically be aware of the true intent behind anything mentioned therein. All a reader has to go on is what it says.
Y'know, kinda like all I have to go on about you is what you say - and judging from that, you like to fly off the handle, call names when no name-calling is necessary, kinda fail at reading comprehension, deny bacon's status as the world's most perfect food, think Stryper is the best band to ever grace the airwaves, and probably also hate freedom.
I mean, I could be wrong about all that. In fact, I sincerely hope I'm wrong (especially the part about Stryper, because omg), but sadly, I can only go based off of what you say and how you say it, as I do not yet have the power to read minds. :distress:

I've known several of the people on here longer than you realize, thanks. SHE didn't run the 'Wall of Shame', I know who did though... the person who ran it isn't even on here as far as I know. The reason that group is invitation only is so that morons like you and Dani don't join. Some people on here DO post for attention, and lie about it too. If Arlene was (and she isn't) posting for attention at least she'd never LIE about it. Once again, to those of us who actually know what's going on, you look like an ignorant moron. :) also, learn how to spell ridicule.

That didn't take long. It did get ugly. Such senses of entitlement and all.
No-one attacked any one person specifically originally or even knew there was a Ledge member involved. Viv pointed it out to us.
I don't know any of the Ledge members, but I don't like to read of anyone calling the clearly intelligent Danielle a liar and worse, or the male Zombie 'Girlfriend'.
The personal attacks began when friends of 'Arlene'- who none of us even knew was involved til Viv alluded to a Ledgie, and she replied- got all self-righteous.
They couldn't handle the valid points brought up that the seeking of media coverage is just tacky. No one ever said not to get together. That's great. A moderator quite clearly pointed that out, and it got ignored, that the tasteless part is the 'press release'.
It's revealing when people old enough to be parents or grandparents of an enthusiastic young fan insult her to try to hang on to their right to get glorification.
If anyone, Arlene or otherwise, says 'I knew nothing about it'- well, you know now.
Call it off, if you're so mortified. Have your good time without the self-serving invitation for media coverage.
You know, a press release, even a bad one, is revokable. So, why not take the high road? All that would be needed is to issue a brief statement that due to confused circumstances, the press release had incorrect information and the request for media to attend is withdrawn. Period.
Get together for yourselves and have a great time without trying to get media attention by using the name of Stevie Nicks without her permission and consider yourselves fortunate you did not get a standard 'cease and desist' letter from the performer's attorneys. It has happened. Believe it or not.

Nope, last I checked, I'm still a girl. But I do not blame Nikolaj for assuming I'm a dude, nor am I offended. I am quite often mistaken for a man online & have been ever since I discovered the wonders of Yahoo! Chat way back in the mid-90s. I'd blame my huge e-penis for it, but I don't like to brag, y'know? So I usually just blame it on my username and lack of pink font.
TrueFaith77, you are both a scholar and a gentleman. The liberal application of bacon cures all ills. Perhaps if we wrap the press release in bacon, like one would do with a tasty scallop, it'll be all better?
