Ok, I know there threads about Twitter, Facebook, blah blah blah on the Ledge, but I had an interesting experience this past week which was very enlightening and one I hadnt had before. I had met someone at work and he decided to invite me out with his friends. Now first of all, this guy was 27, so quite a bit younger than I am, and he neglected to inform me that he and his friends were members of Twitter, Foursquare, and whatever else. SO the time came to go out and I didnt get a call from the guy as to where to meet. I had given him my # at work and I just assumed that's how he would contact me. Well, I assumed wrong. after thinking I'd been ditched he came into my store a couple days later and asked me why I hadnt shown up. It was then that he explained that he and his other friends had decided to coordinate everything through their Iphones on Twitter and foursquare. HE gave me this look like "Wait, you mean your not a part of those networks? Oh I'm sorry." I instantly knew I was either clueless or old or just some dinosaur that might as well head straight for the nursing home.....

Haha, David. You've got to join technology now, if you wanna have a life with anyone under 30!
I was dragged, kicking and screaming, in texting even, last year. I just always refused to do it! Then I started seeing a 22yo, and was forced(I didn't even know how to do it, and had to figure it out on the fly!). Now texting is all I do!

Twitter - it's weird. I live in a 100K person college town, and no one Twitters here, thank god. My friends in Indy Twitter, but those are the only people I know, who do. And most of my friends are 22-25, but they just don't Twitter.

Foursquare? I've never even heard of that! Is it like Twitter?

Now I-phone, that's another story....no, I don't have one, but most of my friends do, and go on and on and on and on, about how much they love their I-phone. I'll stick with my Virgin Mobile qwerty phone, that I spend about $20/month on.

It's weird that he didn't actually TELL you that though. I mean, how are you supposed to know to find them via Twitter if he doesn't give you his Twitter user name? It seems like a silly assumption for him to make. Even if you WERE on Twitter, you wouldn't have necessarily found this information!

I love Twitter and find it very entertaining and even useful, but FourSquare kind of borders the line for me. I don't need everyone to know where I am at all times. It's crazy enough knowing that we can all contact each other at all times, but the specific locations we are in when doing so can remain a mystery, thanks.

I was never one for texting at all, and I have resisted well. Hell, I always tell my friends I don't text. Now, I have gotten texts from people in my group for various short-term projects in my business classes for assorted emergencies, but that's it.

However, I do have one texting story that pissed me off. One day, at some school function, I had met this guy Chris (different one than the liar from last weekend). We got friendly and I gave him my number for him to call me sometime. He never did, but I got another nice little surprise: it turned out he was this club promoter who called himself Shades and started spamming me with texts about clubs and junk, and it has become a major-league nuisance. I swear, if i could find him or his Facebook...

EDIT: I found his FB and just messaged him to stop sending me all these damn texts. I swear, I don't want to turn on my phone to find club crap.
