TODAY I am drug and alcohol free for eighteen months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the longest I have been clean and sober since I first started using on a daily basis in 1980!!!!!
I had tried several times before but I always relapsed. What is different this time around, you may ask? The difference is that I finally surrendered, one day at a time.
Actually from June 20,2010 on, through time, is the longest I've ever made clean. My previous record was one year and five months which occured from May 2006 through Roctober 2007.
My current Anniversary date is January 6, 2009.
In Narcotics Annonymous, of which I am a member, we celebrate clean time as follows: A colorful key chain is given monthly for the first 12 months, after you have completed each one. If you have a sponser then he/she gives you a medalion for the one year mark. The next key chain you get is on the one year and a half mark aka 18 months, and that is where I am at today. The next key chain will be at two years clean, then three years clean and so on, with the key chain of two or more years clean.
However there is no reason for me to think that far ahead. Just clean for today, one day at a time.
