So I just thought I'd share. After about 8 years of online friendship, I FINALLY had the pleasure of meeting "tucky(Michelle2677), Maria(Sara1998), and Shawna(Gold Dust Drummer), on Sunday. They all went to see Dave Matthews(one T, or two, idk) on Saturday, but I was working, and couldn't go. But we met up at Maria's house on Sunday, and HAD.A.BALL! Cold beer, shots of Red Stag and some mango flavored somethingorother, grilled steaks, and lots of laughs. Maria is an awesome cook and host. And Maria's kids are great too, after Sara decided that "a man from the internet", wasn't going to kill them all!
I had the best time, and can't wait until we can all get together again! :]

I know my band schedule, but not my sound schedule yet, but I'm looking at July 24th, as my first free Sat/Sun(again, depending on my sound schedule, which I won't know until about the 1st of the month). I'm off on July 9/10, but I've not been to Nashvegas since Feb, and I'm JONESIN', so I'm planning that, even if I can't afford it. How does the 24th look?

Of course Max is invited! I've got 5 acres, and the house is 300' from the road, so he'll be safe.

I went to Paris with my high school french class, when I was 16. We were allowed to drink. Thanks to some tattletale, I'm proud to say that all the future classes, can blame me and my friend Tracy, for the now "one drink per day" limit. We were getting blasted, every night. No, we never got in trouble, save for the goody two shoes douchebag, telling on us. We were, and still are, pros!:o
Walking into a bar, and ordering a drink, when you're 16, is quite a culture shocking experience!

She really did! She tickles me... so scared mom was bringing "some people" home she met on the internet. She had every reason to be afraid, I suppose. I did exactly what I've told her NEVER to do! I explained to her that I've met Michelle a few times, Shawna was Michelle's friend, and I've talked to David longer than any of them. She was okay with Michelle and Shawna, but freaked out about David... for 5 minutes! LMAO!

Finally met Steve MacDougal, after FIFTEEN YEARS of knowing each other online. He's the guitar tech, for the band that I'm doing sound for, tonight, Guided By Voices.
Around 1995, when I got my first computer, I met him, and David Oberman, on the Fleetwood Mac newsgroup. David is the one who talked me(or maybe both of us) into coming to The Ledge, some 7-8 years ago. But I finally got to meet Steve this afternoon!

Yeah, I met up with her, and two other ledgies, summer of 2010, and it was SO MUCH fun! It was literally like we'd known each other our entire lives....we have the same sense of humor!(and that's the ultimate compliment from me!)

Yeah, I guess my job is cool. I got my friends into a show the other day(it was electronic/dj, so I REALLY had NO interest - Skrillex), and my friends were all "did you get to meet him, did you get to meet him???" I said, "yeah, just another day at the orifice". A f*cking DJ? Give me a call, when you develop a talent!!!

Thanks, tonight is going to be so much fun. I'm ESPECIALLY high right now, because I've been haggling with this woman on Craigslist, over a Gretsch guitar(it's brand new, she won it in a contest). I'm on my way to a bank in a few minutes, to get money from my savings, to meet up with her! It's a hollowbody electric, with a Bigsby, and MOST IMPORTANT of all, it's the famous Gretsch orange!!!

Most of the friends I've had, I've met online. I can count on one hand the number of friends that I met any other way. In person, I tend not to talk to people unless they talk to me first. I never know what to say, and I'm always afraid that I'm bothering them.

If somebody doesn't want to meet me or be friends with me because they're afraid of "people from the Internet" or from the Ledge specifically, then that's their issue, not mine. I'm (generally) a good person, and I sort of resent someone saying they can't associate with me because "Ledgies do crazy things" or "everyone on the Internet is a serial rapist."

Yup - you've got to be so careful. I had't met anyone from the internet for a long time and so I was a little apprehensive meeting Lauren but that's fine now. She's the only one I've met and I'd still be selective about those I did meet.

I'll just say that we had a hell of a collision! What part of it we remember!

We woke up this morning(noon), and were both like, "I don't remember anything after the taxi ride back to the hotel!" We drank about $100 last night! At four or five different bars(at least that's how many I remember).

Fortunately, there is a Shoney's breakfast buffet nearby, so we ate ourselves into coherence today.

Unfortunately, my band plays on Saturday night, so we have to do Sunday afternoon. I'd say that any non-psycho Ledgies, that live within driving distance of Bloomington, IN, are welcome! We've tried to think of everyone within a couple of hours.

So now I have to be John McVie???

Yeah, he's the coolest one in the band, but everyone knows the bass player never gets laid!!!
If I have to be the bass player, he'd better at least learn The Chain!!!!

We've got a drummer lined up, so you'll have to be the percussionist. And a guitar player, so I've either got to be Chris or John, now!

I had the best day, today...

Life is so funny, and the internets are too...

You wouldn't think that interacting with people on a damned band website, could make friendships....that look like they'll last a lifetime,... but it apparently has....

I personally had the nicest time today. We all drank, swam, and ate, for most of the day, then had a FM jam session. So much fun!!!! Great people, that I'm proud to call my friends. And I sincerely thank them...and the Ledge, for putting us all together.

A day I'll never forget.

What a great story! I wish I could have an FM jam session but none of my friends are as big fans as I am. One of them is getting there but sadly she lives in another city.

I've never met any Ledgies in person.

with the ones that I have met in the past...Livia, wondergirl, Seteca, shackin' up and others whose names I cannot recall at the moment (Hanging with Ledgies would be the ONLY way I would attend a FM/SN/LB show these days)

I know. Maybe only you and I get it. I was watching him walking around... He was THINKING ABOUT SH*T! Just taking it all in, and processing it. You were right, when you said that some dogs are "just dogs"(and of course there's nothing wrong with that), but some really are "people", that have a true personality. The way he acted, truly reminded me of Cash, because I got to see "who" he is. A little man, hidden in a dog's body.

Max doesn't like water...

And I try to have a "no dogs in the pool rule", because my cousin used to bring her golden lab over, and we couldn't keep it OUT of the pool, and my filter kept getting clogged with yellow dog hair, so I had to try to stop that. Although a short haired dog wouldn't worry me.

My old dog Stoney was just like this. A Border Collie, too smart for his own good sometimes, and very much a person with a very distinct personality. He was the best dog ever!

You joined the Ledge, just after my ordeal with my "son's" cancer. Cash was a mutt, but many thought he was part border collie(had the white "collar"). And he was the best dog ever, and I spent an insane amount of money, trying to save him from the cancer. He was so special, that I never want another dog. I'm done with pets. I just get too attached to them, and you know how much I love to travel...

It's been 5 years now. His memorial still stands in my living room. My Ledgie friends got to see it on Sunday, for the first time.

it must have something to do with the intelligence of a dog that is relatable for humans. border collies are the smartest dogs and shelties are up there, closing in at #6. maybe it's the dumb ones that are more "dog-like" which- there's nothing wrong with that. they are usually more loving. max is not very affectionate. he's too cool for that smooshy stuff

See, Cash was affectionate. The hardest thing for me, was learning how to sleep without him, after 7 years. He INSISTED on owning the left side of the bed(if I got on that side, he would stand there and rake the bed with his paw, until I moved for him), and my left arm had to form a question mark, for him to curl up in.:o

Stoney was too, very much so. Yes, he could be independent at times but not for too long, he always wanted affection. Also, he was very protective over everyone in the family but in the most non-agressive way possible. He'd just wander roundf the house, checking on everyone if we were in separate rooms!

Most of this is in the Lindsey thread, but 3 of us collided in Nashville, for Lindsey, on Thursday(it was supposed to be 4 of us, but an unexpected surgery on Sunday night, made it impossible for our 4th, who was really missed).
Lindsey was amazing...
My friends were amazing...

It's funny, people always tell us that they can't believe we all met on some band website, and have become friends in real life. I'll always be thankful to the Ledge, for putting these people in my life.

And we're now planning a Christmas party get together....so excited!!!!:]

And I should explain, it's because we're all f*cking crazy, that we have so much fun together. Things like "trash bag Rhiannon" dances are performed. My chili relleno for dinner, became "Chili Rhiannons". I was sick the next morning(from bad food) and we decided the Chili Rhiannons were to blame!!! Nuts collide!!!(that sounds bad!)
