"You Make Loving Fun" is such a sexy song!

And that was MacShadowsBall with your "Random Thought of the Day" ;)

Lol. I have a random thought: which one would be worse to play at a wedding when you realize what it was written for: You Making Loving Fun or All My Love by Led Zeppelin (Robert Plant wrote the lyrics for his young son, who had died of a stomach infection)

Well neither would be good wedding material, but All My Love, without doubt, would be worse given the subject matter!

 For whatever reason when I saw "Wedding" my mind read "Funeral". So now I sitting here thinking how awful it would be for "You Make Loving Fun" to accidently be playing at a funeral instead of some Celine Dion or Sarah McLachlan song!!! :distress:

Funeral...I've often jokingly said I'd play I Will Survive or the Led Zeppelin song In My Time of Dying (sorry, I'm a Zephead)

 such a great idea ! (btw, i adore "All my love", and the fact that it's written for his son makes it even more beautiful...http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/traurig/sad-smiley-021.gif, i'm a bit sensitive !)

All My Love is like one of only 2 or 3 worthwhile song on In Through the Out Door, buty you know what's another great song in that vein? Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton

Oh okay, i don't know much about Clapton's music, but if you say it's good, i'll give it a try :D. I have a question...do you like "Fool in the Rain" ? My sister argues that it's a bad song, and she's a huge Led Zep fan.

Edit : Tears in Heaven is beautiful. I forgot that Clapton's such a great guitarist.

Yeah, Fool in the Rain is good. The third worhtwhile tune on ITTOD is In the Evening, but it's a strange version of In the Light from Physical Graffiti, which I love to pieces.

Fool in the rain is amazing, i love it, especially when it gets Brasilian:laugh:. I've never listened to "In through the out door", except for some songs. But Physical Graffiti, and therefore "In the Light" are just excellent.

Physical Graffiti, White Album, Tusk, The Wall...which double album do I like more?

What are your thoughts on II?

TUSK :D

II isn't my favorite. I'm not into those songs enough (i mean, there's none of my favorites), except for Whole Lotta Love, and Bring it on Home, obviously. But it is, for me, the real beginning of Led Zep's sound (you know, the riffs, loud drums, and everything). I mean, it has Whole Lotta Love, which is THE ultimate Led Zeppelin song (Stairway to Heaven doesn't count :)). What do you think?

I couldn't think of my favorite Led Zeppelin album. There are all great, but there's always one or two songs i don't like. I guess it's why i'm just a casual fan.

I like II quite a bit, right behind IV, PG, and Houses of the Holy.

Whole Lotta Love is good, but I like What Is and What Should Never Be more, but then again, my fave Zep tune at the moment is Since I've Been Loving You off III.

DEFINITELY ! It's my favorite Zep tune too, maybe next to Going to California (don't know why). It's just beautiful, and Jimmy really shines on this song !

I never liked Going to California, but when it comes down to the calming acoustic stuff, I gotta go with Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Ten Years Gone, and The Rain Song.

"O rly"? :(. Yay, Babe I'm gonna leave you is beautiful, but since it's a cover, i prefer the others. Especially The Rain Song, and, well, Going to California :D. Oh, and Tangerine!

Ok...talkin' Zep, eh? Ok....I'll drop a couple of pennies on that topic.

From their first album up to Physical Graffiti loved 'em like the Norse Gods they thought they were....from Presence onward, couldn't stand 'em. Pompous idiots putting out drivel.

That lasted until about 4 months ago when I saw a Zep tribute band in concert. I was hooked on Zeppelin once again like I hadn't been since I was in Jr. High & High School...even completed my LZ CD collection in one fell swoop....even Presence & In Through The Out Door weren't as nauseous as I had once thought. But, what got me was the expanded Song Remains The Same and the fairly recent How The West Was Won live set....I never thought LZ was all that great live (especially after seeing them 10th row at the Long Beach Arena in '75)...the tribute band was 10x's better than I remember the REAL LZ being. Nope, the two live albums got me hooked again.

I have to give SOME credit to my then 2 yr old grandson whose favorite DVD at Christmas 2008 was the Page & Plant Unledded that softened me up and got me at least open to listening to Led Zeppelin again.

I personally never cared for Presence (even though I borrowed a vinyl copy from my uncle, along with I-III and PG) and except for like 2 or 3 songs, I generally dislike ITTOD.

Funny you mention How the West was Won. It's in this pile of CDs (OK, it's only 3, namely that, the Mac's 2 disc greatest hits, and the Beatles' White Album)sitting here by my desktop that I forgot to bring downstairs. Before I had gotten it, I had no idea as to what the mighty Zeppelin sounded live at all (they were together and did Live Aid long before I was born, Robert and Jimmy went out on tour when I was only 5 and probably watching Power Rangers, and when the O2 show in 07 went down, I didn't even know their stuff), but I was suitably impressed by their power and how well they did the songs. Hell, I found myself drumming along with Bonzo a few times.

As for Song Remains the Same, I am definitely considering watching it on Netflix sometime soon and, despite the strange fantasy sequences, it does sound really cool.

As for my collection of Zep CDs, I have their Early Days and Latter Days, II, and PG, but I definitely plan, over time, buying the whole collection, along with Bon Scott AC/DC.

Speaking of AC/DC, do we have any fans of them here? I love the Bon Scott-era stuff, but Brian Johnson is good too.

Stairway to Heaven is good, but it'd by no means, the best Zep song. Aside from WLL, other gems that are better include Dazed and Confused, Heartbreaker, Since I've Been Loving You, Rock and Roll...I could go on all day.

The live version of "No Quarter" on The Song Remains The Same is spectacular!

Too bad they sold out "Rock & Roll" to Cadillac...that was at one time my favorite LZ song...but, too many TV commercials ruined it for me. Bonzo's intro to that still is killer...not very many cover band drummers can play it EXACTLY right.

Zep selling out to Cadillac is bad, but that's still a great song in my books, and the version from How the West Was Won is simply killer.

Agreed, No quarter is beautiful, and it's the reason why i love John Paul Jones. I also think it could have been a great techno tune , i don't know why. Anyway, very atmospheric.

My personal favorites are Since i've been lovin' you, Going to California, The Ocean (NA, NA, NANANA NANA, NANANANANANANANAAAAAAA), All my Love, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Rock&Roll...
I've never even liked Dazed and Confused .

The Scissor Sisters are releasing their third album at the end of the month! I love them, their songs and their performances- the most energetic and fun concert you'd ever see!

It's been four years since their last album. Elton John is a huge fan. I just learned they spent a year-plus recording an album and previewed it to Elton. He told them they didn't get it right, so they scrapped the entire album and recorded a new one. (Of course, now I want to hear the scrapped album!)

They are huge in Europe/UK - playing in 20,000 seat venues. Here in the USA they play in 2000 seat venues.
