Hi guys,

I'm back! I've been off of The Ledge and most other online stuff (even cut down on facebook!) for the past couple of months because I've been finishing the phD. Well, now it's in - all 74, 489 words of it!

I realise this may not be a big thing for anyone else but I've been working on it for years so there was a sigh of relief on Tuesday, and I've been drinking pretty much steadily since then!

Anywya, I am no now back to my usual posting self so feel free to say hi!!

Next stop: a full time interim job while I look for the first academic one...

What was your dissertation about?

I can relate in a way: I'm an undergrad business major and, senior year, they're gonna make us do a thesis. I didn't even start junior yet and I'm already going into a panic over it.

'From Stars To Celebrities: Hollywood Stardom in the age of CelebrityCulture'

It's film studies/sociology based - about how older types of film stardom have changed in relation to so-called 'celebrity' - the internet, tabloids etc..

Good luck with yours. I'm guessing the one you do in senior year won't have to be as huge as a phD though so don't worry on that score! Of course, it will still be a substantial piece of work so good luck with it!!

What a major accomplishment. Now we can call you Dr. Dodfather. lol

I remember how satisfied I was when I turned in my thesis, and mine was only 92 pages! You must feel very relieved and proud of yourself. Enjoy your drinking binge! :)

Congrats! My husband actually just defended his PhD dissertation on science fiction and the film industry--I'm sure you two would have a lot to talk about!
