Hey ledgies!
I wanted to talk about dreaming a little bit. Specifically, lucid dreaming. I'm no dreamologist but if you aren't familiar with the term, lucid dreaming is basically gaining conscious during a dream, and realizing that you are dreaming. Then you may be able to go on and control what you do or what happens in your dream.
I was reading a bit on this subject and was surprised to find out that most people actually can't do this. I always figured this was normal. A majority of the dreams I remember are lucid. And in all my lucid dreams I'm able to control a lot of what I do/what happens to me. I can't fly or do anything like that, but I can consciously make decisions on doing everything else, anything I can do in the real world.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Me being nothing of a med student, it sounds almost downright bizarre on paper, but I think I've had those. Hell, what do they call that deja vu that makes you feel like you had it in a dream before?

I have had one lucid dream in my entire life and it took weeks of 'practicing' to achieve it. Having messed up my sleep schedule for about 3 weeks to do so, I'll not be doing it again any time soon.
I dream almost every night and sometimes it's so real I wake up and think that that's the dream. I've had dreams where I've woken up still able to feel textures in my hands throughout that whole day which is bizarre! Sometimes my dreams make sense and relate to what I've been talking about during the day and sometimes they're things like swimming through my school? The subject really fascinates me though :)

Yes, it was just like deja vu. Same feeling. Is it still deja vu if it's somewhere you've never been? I've never seen this classroom before in my life, but when I saw it today I knew I had saw it before. Just that split second of an image.
I don't do any practing - the lucid dreams just happen against my will. That texture thing is crazy! I've had a dream that was so strange that the sounds in the dream replayed most of the day in my head. It wasn't very plesant.

I am a lucid dreamer, but not all of the time. And if I am having a really bad dream, I don't seem to have the same level of ability to change things up.

I don't know if this counts, but when I'm dreaming, if something is happening that I don't like, or something scary is happening, I can "stop" the dream and change it. It's weird. I'm always able to remember these dreams too.
Although, lately, all my dreams have been sex dreams.
But that's neither here nor there.

That does count and you made me realize that even though I can't seem to stop a bad dream, I am aware that I am trying to stop it.
Enjoy your sex dreams. :)

Is your Ex-Boyfriend in any of them? You know, the one you want to secretly punch in the face.

That's the strange thing, I can't remember who's in them. I just wake up feeling all... flustered.

That is a bit odd - usually I just wake up if I hate a dream. I also wake up if I become self-aware, so if I have a lucid dream, it only lasts a handful of seconds. :(
And, seeing as you started the ball rolling, I've also noticed that the majority of times I become self-aware and begin lucid dreaming for a few seconds are when I'm in the company of beautiful women, so I wake up long before I get a chance to make anything happen... 'tis undeniably frustrating!
So, yes, enjoy those dreams of yours while they last, while I try to be happy for you instead of being jealous...

I'm actually able to stop my dreams. I won't do it unless it's a nightmare. It's hard to describe. Since most of the time it's a lucid dream, I just have the power to open my eyes...of course my eyes are open in the dreamworld but I just think about opening my eyes for a couple seconds, and they open. Normally they seem to open violently, like I'm looking at something in shock. I can actually feel them open in real time, I guess because I'm waking up while I'm opening them.
