The Darkness are a hard rock band - you aren't likely to find them on the same station as FM or even mentioned in the same breath.
You can take back that "" now

I'd heard of them before, but never really listened to their music. Sometimes things just hit you. Kind of like me with Toto and Def Leppard and everything!

I wish they hadn't broken up, I love their records! I saw them play at the Vic in Chicago supporting the first album and it was so much fun. By the time Justin came out in a skintight giraffe outfit complete with headpiece and tail, I was totally won over.

"I got a one way ticket to hell and back. Got a one way ticket to hellll and back. One way ticket to hell and back. Got a one way ticket to helllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!"
Why did that band go away??

Singer developed a gigantic cocaine addiction and blew all his money on it. The song you quoted lays it all out pretty nicely, actually (especially the sniffing/snorting at the beginning of the track)

This is true. The Hawkins also wasn't too fond of the cycle of recording, then touring, then recording again.

Maaaaaaaaan I haven't posted on here in forever! But anyway, Justin has a new band, called Hot Leg. Their CD came out last year, Red Light Fever. It's in a similar vein as The Darkness, and includes gems such as Trojan Guitar, Cocktails, and my personal favourite...Gay in the 80s.
He's clean and has been sober since '06, after he left The Darkness.
