I'm very curious if anyone knows where to get the best quality copy of the ROSEBUD promo film? I've purchased a few from eBay that were not that great. One even had the title "a film by Rosebud" blacked out digitally.

I read on the following website that a DVD called "Rumours: Behind the Scenes vol. 1 & vol. 2" contain the highest quality known of Rosebud.

http://www.angelfire.com/mac2/nickslive/video.html

Does anyone have this? Does anyone know the source of it and if they are still making copies of their high quality source?

How does it compare to this clip I found on YouTube from a British show - which has the highest contrast I've ever seen of "Rhiannon". You can actually see people backstage behind Lindsey and Christine.

I'd love to find the DEFINITIVE copy of Rosebud. Also, does anyone know the history of this film? I've read dates ranging from 1975-1977 for these performances. Has there ever been an official statement on where it originated from? Anyone know the venues where the performances come from - would that help narrow the date down? AND doesn't Mick Fleetwood have a daughter named Rosebud? I've always assumed this film was done by her, but never heard one person mention the connection.

I always thought "Rosebud" made some reference to the Orson Wells classic Citizen Kane. I'm not sure what the tie-in would be with FM but I can't think of Rosebud without thinking of that film.

I don't know about FM in those very early years, but certainly now I see the connection to Rosebud. Especially at times like the Gypsy introduction when Stevie talks about the mattress on the floor. The last words croaked on her deathbed won't be about the parties, the concerts, the money, but a very simple, modest moment.

Same thing with Lindsey and his Flying Down Juniper, a boy riding his bike down the street in his neighborhood. Memories of his youth, deceased parents, brothers and carefree concerns whizzing by on that bicycle.

I feel a little teary.

Wipe those tears girl! I can see that, kind of. Do you think they named it that intentionally referencing the movie?

I'm not sure. I wonder if their heads would have been in that place 35 years ago, or on Orson Welles, when they were all so young. I never thought of how "Rosebud" could have been used, unless it was meant to be something nascent, just starting out, but well on the way to full blossoming.

The outdoor show was filmed on May 2, 1976 on the Campus Field in Santa Barbara, CA.

I thought Rosebud was just the production company.

Does anyone know the approx. date of the Rhiannon performance? The moon/tree backdrop = 1975/6, right?

Can anyone answer this? I've had similar problems being able to get a good quality version of this so I'd also be interested in picking one up if it's worth it...

Does anyone know the approx. date of the Rhiannon performance? The moon/tree backdrop = 1975/6, right?Yes. It was filmed on a soundstage just before the band went to England for a publicity junket in October 1976. The idea was to market "Rumours" that winter.

I think you can get the clearest picture of the whole thing if you track down VH1 Classic's broadcast of the Midnight Special back around 1998 or 1999. (The Midnight Special showed the Rosebud stuff back when it was on the air.)

That was actually the very first performance that I ever saw by Stevie and FM. My answer to the question, "wouldn't you love to love her?", was a resounding YES, PLEASE, THANK YOU. 'Cuz she was on fire.
