I prefer Mohegan Sun only because it's quicker to get to but Foxwoods will work too. Foxwoods is smaller and is a theater rather than an arena. First show I saw there I had second row seats so maybe my luck will work for this one!!

I really wish Stevie would play at the Paramount Theatre, in Denver.

The stage is far bigger than it looks and the sound is phenomenal. Smaller concerts are so much better, anyway. I've seen Regina Spektor, Fiona Apple and Siouxsie & The Banshees here, and they were all great shows.

Casinos are easy money for the performer. Stevie's last stop at a regular venue here in CT was back in '01 on the TISL tour. Since then she's only been at the casino. Same with Fleetwood Mac, their last two times thru were at the casino. They make more money at the casinos than at the arenas. This is why many people plant themselves in Vegas, the money pours in and there's no travel.

There may be an additional 1 to 3 dates added in the region, most likely at the usual suspects (venues already listed in this thread). She'll probably work that whole week leading up to Labor Day weekend, with a Canada gig (ie. Casino Rama) on that weekend wrapping it up.
To assume anything else is wildly unfounded speculation, IMO. That's not to say that there might be some west coast dates in the fall (who knows), but these two announced dates give no indication to that happening.

Especially when they play connecticut the casinos can accompadate the artists especially in connecticut where we don't have a ritz carlton that would accomadate them but the casino can do that usually if they play connecticut and its not the casinos they stay in New York or Boston. To Me its all good where ever they play just glad she is playing a show in CT will take the day of the show off and and the day after off from work that day. cant wait. the twitter page is the venues official twitter page so they just go the news so its good to give us heads up on the shows and plan.

From a fans point of view that would be great, and there's definitely enough of those venues around the US to keep her going forever, but unless she's forced to because she can't sell the larger venues, why would she. She'd have to play 3 times as many shows to generate enough revenue to fit her lifestyle. She'd be on the road for far longer periods of time... I think it would knock her out to keep that sort of pace and with Stevie's stamina I'm not sure she could do it unless her show was really tamed down and relaxed. With casino dates, I'm guessing she still pulls in a decent pay cheque, doesn't have to play all that many shows in a run and the venues are smaller, so it's kind of a meeting in the middle.

To be fair, the two main, good-sized indoor venues in Connecticut are within the casino complexes. Mohegan Sun is preferable, imo, but the MGM at Foxwoods is gaining steam since opening last year. Sure, there's the Oakdale, but that place is a barn and hardly ANYONE plays there, where most major acts hit Mohegan or Foxwoods on their tours. So it's not like she's playing a casino for the sake of playing a casino, it's where the venue is. It's not like she's playing the Wolf Den (and hell, some awesome people HAVE, so even if she was...).

Casinos are kind of getting a bad rap. The fact is the casino venue is becoming more and more popular. Here in CT almost EVERY act that comes thru plays either Foxwoods or Mohegan. It used to be the Hartford Civic Center or the Meadows, but very few shows play there anymore. You get the big summer tours at the Meadows, and people like Springsteen at the Civic Center, but everyone else hits the casinos.
The arena at the Mohegan Sun was built to house the WNBA team (they still play there all the time) but they started booking concerts there and it became hugely successful. Foxwoods initially only had your typical casino acts, Wayne Newton, Bobby Vinton, Steve and Edie, but when Mohegan started selling out huge rock and country shows, Foxwoods saw a huge drop in concert business. Last year they opened the MGM Grand Theater and now they are getting bigger mainstream acts.
To play a casino these days is not like playing Vegas in the 70's or 80's.

Yes, all of this is true.
I don't think most people have a problem with Stevie playing casinos- its just annoying & obviously telling when Stevie ONLY plays casinos (and the random zoo amphitheater/BFE sh*thole dumb enough to pay what she demands). Rather than attempt to mount (or even give the vague impression of mounting) a national tour, she plays the same venues/same markets for as much money as possible with as little effort/unpredictability expended.
Does she have the right to do this? Absolutely. I think its awesome that Stevie can still make untold amounts of money playing mainly to gambling addicts/bluehairs (not referring to fellow Ledgies :) ) year in and year out. But, admit that she's a nostalgia act. (this Dave Stewart thing will trend out to maybe one or two new songs, released on iTunes. book it.) She's done.

In some ways i think you're right, and in others i don't. If Stevie were a nostalgia act, she would be unable to make the kind of money she does, because no one would stand for it. Now obviously, she is no Madonna when it comes to the kind of shows she puts on and the kind of press her tours get, but when you go see her, you get way more than a throwback concert at the diggery-doo.
And i think if she were done, people wouldn't continue to be in awe of her, like when she appeared at the Grammys. That got so much press because it showed the general public that Stevie Nicks still has what it takes to outshine someone as popular and relevent as Taylor Swift.

In some ways Stevie makes the kind of money because it's about nostalgia... When you tour year in year out without releasing new music you are touring on nostalgia. She hasn't released a solo in 9 years and nothing new since 2003 - 7 years! That's a long time. She outshines someone like Taylor Swift in ways because of respect, because of her longevity, her history. Plus, Taylor Swift kind of sucked that night - which was to Stevie's benefit.

Well yeah, the fact is Stevie IS a nostaliga act. It is NOT 1981 anymore. Stevie is not ripping up the charts and being played on radio. Pretty much everyone who was huge in the 70's and 80's are doing the casino circuit. There are exceptions, but for the most part that's true.
To say that Stevie is playing for the "blue hairs and gamblers" is again a throwback to the Vegas idea of what it is to play the casinos. The vast majority of the shows I've seen over the past three or so years have been at the casino and you don't really see a lot of people who just happened to stumble in since they were there. Yeah it's an older crowd at the Stevie/Mac shows, but their core fans are in their 50's-60's.
My point is Stevie will not be doing a huge arena/shed tour anytime soon. As long as she doesn't have a new album out (and more importantly a HIT album) it won't happen.
Someone mentioned her playing state fairs, to me that is more of drop than playing casinos. The worst though would be playing the Wolf Den at the Mohegan. For those that don't know, that's the free shows that are right in the middle of the casino among the slot machines. It's limited seating, but anyone walking by can stop and watch. I saw 38 Special last year that way. If Stevie starts doing the free shows, it's over.

There's a casino on each side of the border. The U.S. casino is a bit further from the Falls themselves (you can see the mist from there, but not the Falls) and their venue is awful - I saw Heart & Pat Benatar there. They were all amazing, but the venue is nothing more than a wedding reception hall with dining room chairs. It's painfully bad. Flat floor too, no slope down. So you literally can't see anything unless you're first 2 or 3 rows.
No idea about the canadian venue, which is right ON the Falls. And the falls are cool, but when you grow up here & see them every year, the novelty wears off. They're still incredible, but not a draw for me.
She needs to stop playing casinos!!!

Frankly, I had fixed feelings when Stevie's show at Casinorama (in Ontario, Canada) was announced for the summer of 2007. I was actually a little embarrassed to tell friends (who were non Stevie fans that is) that I was seeing her at a casino :o . There's still that notion that they're for 'over the hill' lounge acts.
However, when I got there, I found Casinorama to be a great venue. It holds about 5000 people, and the seats for Stevie's 2 shows were completely packed both night. Admittedly, there were a couple dozen folks (mostly seniors) who sat through the show looking bored or confused, who obviously got in for free as part of a casino package. Nonetheless, 99% of the crowd were actual paying concert goers and fans from what I could see.

But you get that at the regular venues too. When I saw Stevie in '01 on the TISL tour, there were a group of people sitting in the reserved corporate seats who sat and talked to each the for entire first half of the concert. They looked at the stage briefly when Stevie walked out and then ignored her until it was almost over. I've seen many people at concerts (at all different venues) who seemed to have no interest whatsoever in the concert. I always wonder WHY they are there in the first place. So it happens everywhere.

WOW! Those are way higher than I was expecting! Foxwoods is a theater so really any seat is good. The one time I went I had second row seats (that's what popped up when I went online). I go again in July to see Heart there and I have first row in the top tier. By the way the Heart tickets were only $35

Wow,again here, why so high.I just came off Foxwoods MGM website to check whats happening,Shes not listed yet.also I checked out to see how to order tickets from them, will I have better luck ordering them direct from the boxoffice or go to the boxoffice then getting them online? I remember in 2007 when Stevie was at the Borgata in Atlantic City I got my crappy tickets from the online site, then when I was at the Borgata the next day I had a chance to chat with a ticket agent to find out how to get better seats next time. She said call the boxoffice ,heck with the internet.she said.
I have to call Foxwoods in the next few days to see how they operate.

It very well may be different in Canada, but here in the East there's no stigma about acts currently bigger than Fleetwood Mac or Stevie playing casinos. The Mohegan Sun, since 2007, has been Connecticut's TOP concert venue, any touring band that's coming through Connecticut who can sell enough WILL play the Sun, and they're paid a fortune. It's a 10,000 seater, though sometimes it 'sells out' at 8,000, or less, depending how it's all manipulated.
The Foxwoods concert halls are much smaller, about 4000 seats at the newer MGM Grand hall in the quite small MGM Grand recent addition at Foxwoods.
It's probably wise for Stevie to be playing the the MGM Grand rather than the Mohegan Sun Arena, because Stevie has played at The Sun VERY often solo and with Fleetwood Mac. I am a tad surprised the Mohegan Sun didn't pair her with a strong opening act and book here, there. Maybe they knew better, or didn't want to meet her guarantee. She should do really well at the MGM Grand, with it being half the size, or less, of the Mohegan Sun Arena.
Why are tickets 'so high' someone asked-- sounds like Stevie still has her way HIGH guarantee, and the MGM Grand is just passing it along to the consumer, what else.
Diana Ross plays the MGM Grand, next month, on the second night of her 20 date (or so) tour, and tickets are quite lower priced than what I just saw quoted here for Stevie, and Diana sold out the MGM Grand here in CT last year. I don't know if Stevie will sell-out at the prices someone here quoted, but she may.
Yet, Diana's opening night in Boston is quite pricey. Her Radio City date is 'Radio City Hall-priced'- not cheap. Hard to remember, or believe, but Diana is only four years older than Stevie. They're both gals in their 60s and it won't surprise me at all if several of the venues where Diana's playing will see Stevie there, as well, not just the MGM Grand. Could it be we might see a Stevie date at Radio City Music Hall instead of the usual Jones Beach? I don't know. Could she sell well there? Can Diana? Isn't it a huge venue??
Oh, for anyone a fan of yet another 'diva', a friend who has an older pal (in his mid 50s) sent me an email with the guy's picture taken with Cher at Elijah Blue's art exhibit opening in LA about a month ago- and Cher told the guy personally that she plans to tour next year... After she finishes up her 3 year Ceasars Vegas $65 million deal. And after 'Burlesque' opens this November.
So, be it one-time 'queen of rock and roll', 'queen of Motown' or Cher, 'the old girls' keep on working. "I'll take you to see the naked old bitch" Cher said at her Ceasar's opening this month, saying that after she made her entrance, still singing the same U2 song as her opener-- (she flies, now, over the audience to begin the show) and she said she noticed the women with men seemed a lot more excited than the guys, and Cher said it was 'because these tickets cost sooo much money', "and the guys paying were like, 'yeah, yeah', I'll take you to see the naked old bitch!" (Her 9 minute monologue is on YouTube).
I wonder if Stevie had told the Ceasar's bosses that SHE would fly during her show, she might have gotten that gig she wanted! As many here know, Stevie very much wanted a slot in Celine's Ceasar's theater when Celine left a few years ago. Celine was replaced with rotating Bette Midler, Elton John, and Cher. Stevie didn't get the gig, Bette has vacated, Elton's gone or will be soon, and last I heard, Celine herself will be returning when Cher finishes up sometime late this year or in early 2011, I forget which.
Still, I know, we're talking about STEVIE NICKS, and it may be depressing, for some, that the 'reigning queen of rock' (28 years ago!) is being mentioned (but, only by me, really!) alongside of Diana, Cher, and Bette, but they're all in the same boat now, age wise.
I'm just glad Stevie isn't really struggling for better gigs in the way that Deb, Pat, and Heart seem to be.

I'm surprised shes not playing Mohegan. In 2008 when I saw her there the arena was pretty packed. She even made a few comments about how impressed she was with the audience. This was a one-off gig, with nothing to support and no dates following until June, yet she still sold it out (or near capacity).

This was a one-off gig, with nothing to support and no dates following until June, yet she still sold it out (or near capacity).

I'm surprised she's not there as well. She was there with Don Henley, then she played it twice on the "Crystal Visions" tour, then twice again last year with Fleetwood Mac. Seemed like she had a pretty good thing going with them.

Maybe therein lies the answer- she's played there too many times to conceivably play the arena again so soon (especially with nothing to promote).
Or, maybe Foxwoods just paid her more money. They've ramped up efforts to be more competitive with Mohegan Sun- it wouldn't surprise me.

Ever since the MGM opened they been pulling big names away from The Mohegan Sun,it seems like every day I hear a MGM Foxwoods promo on the radio and a few Mohegan Sun ads weekly on the radio.
I hope the will get the big chisel and hammer and start chopping down these ticket prices before they put them on sale.

Of course Stevie's last minute on the fly bookings probably clash with other artists dates at Mohegan like said.probably the same scenario down in Atlantic City.Other artists probably normally book a year ahead. Also ,I'm very surprised she has not book Las Vegas yet.

One question. Also I would like to add,Is it really worth it for Stevie to track the band together, plus having her road crew to Test equipment, pack up the trucks and drive across this great country to here in Connecticut and Atlantic City for two shows. At this point no.but I hope she has more stops planned to make it worth the trip.Or she loves us over here, and she dont care about the costs.Anyway I cant wait.

I think we're starting to see the signs of Stevie pulling an imminent Greta Garbo on us. She's refusing to do anything new; touring, touring, touring... doing stupid casinos; and continuously upping her asking price. I think she's sacking away money so she can call it a day at some point in the reasonable future.

As if she doesn't make a bundle in royalties alone? I wish she would stop touring and record new music, and work on remastering her previous albums, and release all her unreleased stuff. But you are very astute your observation: she is pulling a Garbo (that should be a phrase "pulling a garbo") "I just want to tour alone"

I think she could have called it a day at any point in the recent past or now and still be filthy-stinkin rich. I don't think she's doing it to ensure a comfortable "retirement".
On the same note I can most certainly understand why people are upset with such high ticket prices. It really inhibits a lot of dedicated fans who would love to see her live. If I could afford it I'd pay her to do a private show for all us die-hards for free!

I just read an article last night about the demise of Jennifer Lopez. The article was saying how lately she can't get anything right, her last couple singles have all bombed, her latest movie tanked and she's been dropped by her record label. The article said that albums sales in general are down, but you can't blame that on her lack of success. It said that for artists today the real money comes from touring (but because Lopez can't buy a hit touring won't work because there's no interest).
My point being that Stevie is obviously aware of this and so she just keeps touring. There's far more money to be had touring rather than putting out another album. If Jennifer Lopez who just a few years ago was on top of the music world can't re-ignite her career what chance does someone like Stevie have?

While all of that may be true about Jlo, I don't see how you can compare her with Stevie at all. The big difference is that Stevie solo/FM has had a much longer, more successful, more influential recording career and a fanbase that has been cultivated and nurtured for decades. Jlo has been a recording artist for ten years in a genre that can politely be described as "froth." Jlo's hits come and go, never to be heard again, whereas Stevie's catalogue has had legs and has endured. So Stevie can disappear for years and come back, and people will still be interested in her. But in the rapidly changing world of frothy pop, one does not have that luxury. Perhaps Jlo's biggest career miscalculation was assuming that she could go off, have kids, have a "normal" life and expect to come back exactly where she left off.

I think Xtina must be getting a bit nervous. In the time since her last full studio release, Gaga/Swift/Ke$ha/Sasha Fierce happened. Hopefully her album will kick major azz. Nobody is moving that much product anymore, save for a very few... The big artists are lucky if they move more than 2 million in the US - which 5-10 years ago would have been the equivalent to selling probably 5-8 million or something like that.

They say they don't do that, I've asked and was told that they never limit they length of a show. But I've also been told that that is standard procedure for a casino. Most shows are allowed an hour and a half. But I've seen shows at the casinos that ran longer than that. Both KISS and Trans Siberian Orchestra ran for about 2 and half hours. Dolly Parton made a big deal of saying during her show that she was told to hurry things up so people would get back out to the slot machines. Apparently she was not happy about being told this so she said something during her shows. She was then spoken to after the show because she's not supposed to say that.

That sucks,It sounds like they have same problem that the Oakdale performance times .70 mins or under. Thanks Skuncles I hope not,Her shows runs about 90 plus minutes.
If that the case I hope Fleetwood Mac on their next tour will stick with Mohegan Sun.
Also I guess there will be no Edge walk at this show too.also the security probably wont know what the format of her shows at the time of her appearance and she will get psssst off and tell them where to go when the crowd comes to the stage.we will see.
One thing about the Oakdale is they have a meet and greet there.

I believe the Foxwoods venues have a time limit of 80 minutes. I saw Dolly Parton at the MGM Grand a night or 2 before Obama was elected, (got a third row and super cheap, so why not) and it was 80 minutes, solid. I've seen Diana Ross a bunch of times at Foxwoods/MGM, and most shows were 80 minutes, I was bummed out at the 64 minute concert about 3 years ago.
Many seemed to comment on the 'go to tent' Mac teleprompters I quoted on the Mac tour. Dolly's were even more detailed ('join together at center-stage' during 'Islands In The Stream')- Dolly's likeable, and I figured she was one of the old gals I should see since I never had, though I can't say I'm a huge fan, and she was good. I admired that she stayed on stage the entire time and didn't change clothes, but I found her between-song chatter irritating, after a while. She talked so much she easily could have fit in another 4 songs into her show, but I gotta say, it was still a longer set, song-wise, than Stevie has done since the 'Enchanted' or 'TISL' tours.
Does anyone think maybe it's time to cut the intro to 'Edge' short? I kind of think so, it takes up so much time, yet I do like the drama of it all, yet with the Edge walk, that song can run about 16 minutes, and that's a huge chunk of time in a not-long concert. I appreciated the long-intro to 'SB' being shortened.

I was at that Dolly show as well. The show was basically the same show she'd been doing the whole tour, I think only the encore was cut. Dolly's entire show is on the teleprompter, all that in-between song banter is also on the teleprompter. I've seen her about five or six times in the past 7 years or so, and her stories are always the same. In fact her stories have been the same for the past 30 years!!! She does a LOT of talking, but that's how she's always done it. The thing about Dolly's shows that I hate is that the big songs are sung along with a track (lip-synched). "Here You Come Again", "9 to 5", "Islands In The Stream", "I Will Always Love You" all of sung with a track. When I saw her at the Mohegan Sun, she was still talking when the vocal for "9 to 5" began. Her crowd is usually older and they either don't notice or don't care.

Wow. Never saw Dolly at the Mohegan Sun, but was in third row and didn't see any evidence of her lip-synching at the MGM Grand in Nov. 2008. But, you should know better, having seen her so many times. I did think she sounded in remarkably robust voice, and was staring straight at her, saw no glitches, and did see all the teleprompter lyrics and banter. But if you know, you know. I'm surprised I could be duped so close up, but maybe they have it down to a science.
I wonder, seriously, about the Stevie performance with Mac at the Mohegan Sun in 2009, the first time they played, I skipped their second show months later. I clearly saw- and heard- from the second row- stage left, Stevie miss the ending of 'Silver Springs'-- the call and response, if you will- 'give me just a chance, was I just a fool'--- all that she got out was 'chance' and 'fool' and her lips were like stuttering, and she just barely got out 'chance' and 'fool'-- Yet, I saw the same clip on youtube, from the Mohegan Sun, and while you see grimacing a bit, the full lines are 'sung'. I wonder if the person who posted on youtube was sitting by the soundboard, and the glitch I clearly saw got fixed via some kind of computer voice recognition system? Mick's comment recently about 'being tied into this huge production' got me thinking (again) about it, and I did see and hear what I saw and heard, from the second row- she missed the lines. At first when I saw it on youtube, I thought, maybe it was just how 'the sound bounces off the wall at you' but then got thinking, there has to be a reason they never once changed the order of the songs- it's all timed down to the nano-second and if anything gets badly messed up on stage, the soundboard has the show and notes and words all maybe computerized with the teleprompter and all sequential, to sweeten the sound and fix flubs? Over-ride what is sung on stage with the computerized soundboard perfect sound, pre-recorded?
I really don't know. It's confusing.
Interesting about Dolly, though.

Interesting about Dolly, though.
This is weird because apparently you and I are at the same shows and in the same areas!! Hahaha! For the Dolly show at Foxwoods, I had second row seats, for the Mohegan Dolly shows I was on the floor but not the front. When people started saying they thought Dolly was lip synching she made a statement (that she later began say from the stage) that "everything you hear up here is all me, we've got everything we need up here to give you a great show, we're not trying to cheat you at all, just give you a great show". She only did that at the first tour where this was being brought up (back in '05 or thereabouts). The thing with lip synching is the artist DOES sing, but the tape is louder than the vocal mic.
As far as Stevie goes, was at both of the Mac shows last year at Mohegan, the first one I was stage left about three rows back. I didn't notice anything odd on her part. But I will say that depending on where you are in the arena, you may hear things better than others. I saw Martina McBride at Mohegan this past March, I've seen her several times before and she always sounds great, however at this show she didn't sound quite the same. I saw clips on YouTube of the show and she sounded perfect. It was just where I was sitting and how the sound was hitting me.
I don't believe Stevie has ever sung to a track in concert, I've seen her screw up too many times for that to be the case. There is a reason though why she brings her background singers with her. Sharon or Lori tend to fill in her gaps, so while she may have clearly missed a lyric, the girls are there to fill in for her. So on playback, it will sound ok.

Don't worry- the seats on stubhub are positively craptastic- I wouldn't pay $10 for any of them. $600 for Row U of the mezzanine? I didn't realize so many people were smoking crack up in CT.
i dont have the patience / faith you have... i saw center orchestra Row E for $ 450 per tix and took them
was planning on driving up tonite to get em at box office and between gas and tolls and gambling the tix wd have cost me a whole lot more anyway
i see that adam lambert tix sold out there before they went on sale !! LOL

So much for FRIDAY MORNING .... more Ticketmonster BS !! Tickets already on sale at stubhub ! ... I guess all good seats already sold !
oh for the 'good old days' when you got in line at the venue ( fillmore or wherever) for your tickets- that was the ONLY way to get em & it was honest first come first serve !
First off. This has NOTHING to do with Ticketmaster. I hate Ticketmaster. This was a Velvet Rope email that was mailed out to exclusive Foxwoods Members. I happened to be one of those members. It was in NO WAY affiliated with Ticketmaster. Lets get the facts straight. Second of all. The tickets that are available on StubHub etc were from today's sale but they are not the greatest seats. I have no clue what will be offered tomorrow but I wish you all the luck. Despite what the Box Office tells you this email offer had NOTHING to do with Stevie's fanclub. It was a limited amount of emails and invites from the Box Office directly. No matter who you deal with its a game!

Just got my seats, due to my money situation I went for the mid priced tickets (which are $112 total each). I ended up getting first row of the middle section (there are three sections going from the stage back). By the way, if you get the tickets thru Foxwoods you get a better selection and they are slightly cheaper (fewer added on fees).

I've never been to this venue before, but hear there really isn't a bad seat in the house. To catch Stevie in this intimate of a setting (4,000 seats) is going to be cool. I, for one, am glad she's playing MGM and skipping Mohegan for a change.
Also, I have Orchestra seats for Heart in July. :)

Well 16th row on the floor isn't bad at all. You're not superclose, but those aren't bad seats. I've only been to one show at MGM (and had 2nd row seats, that's what came up online!!) but the way the place is set up (very similar to the Oakdale), there aren't any bad seats.

I was offered row 6 this am right when they went on sale, but opted to wait. I need row 1 or 2 after such a long flight to get there, so we'll see. I imagine I can get something the day of the show regardless, so we'll gamble. In the past, I have usually gotten row 5 or so ahead of time and row 2 at the box office the day of show, so we'll see!

I got my tickets online from the MGM web site at 10 am, and for 3 tickets I got row R in the orchestra to the left. I've seen Stevie many times over the years, got to hold her hand during the edge walk, and was very lucky to meet her at the B&N signing. I don't feel like I have to stress out over getting really close seats anymore. I hope the people who are going who haven't had a chance to be up close are able to this time around though, especially the ones who haven't seen Stevie solo yet!

Just saw an incredible LONG show at the MGM Grand last night- Diana Ross worked like you would not believe and delivered an amazing 28 song setlist- she hit the stage at 8:14 and lights went up at 10:04- One hour and fifty minutes. She left the stage for the first time after she had sung a complete 9 songs, with her first costume change coming for the 10th song 'I'm Comin' Out'- which traditionally has been her opening song- She only stays off stage less than 3 minutes, it's a singer who really seems to be committed to giving a performance without leaving the stage constantly. This is not a reference to Stevie Nicks, just an observation that many performers abuse their star-status by spending far too much of their concert off-stage.
She really shook up her setlist, and opened with 'The Boss'- she had a 4 piece horn section that really were fantastic and a string quartet - 15 musicians on stage and 3 backup singers- It's the best show I think she's ever put on- Sixty Six Years Old.
My count of 28 songs is mind-boggling. Some might call it 30 even. I counted a medley of 'Love Hangover' and 'Take Me Higher' as one song, and near the end, she did a medley of 'Missing You' and 'You Are Not Alone' that could have been counted as two.
So, we don't have to worry about any short casino show regulations at the MGM, I would say.

In a nutshell:
1. Casinos are smoke-filled, windowless caves where the walking dead, the alcohol dependent and desperate swill cheap liquor while they pump their last nickels into the slots.
2. Casinos are usually located in cities/towns that otherwise have no reason to exist.
3. Casino shows are more expensive than usual.
4. The best casino show tickets are reserved for high rollers or others who could not be bothered with the main attraction.
5. You spend weeks trying to purge yourself of the guilt and shame of spending __ hours of your life in the 6th ring of hell.

LOL. It's not that bad. At least not when you get inside the actual venue with the other Stevie fans. I've seen Stevie at the a casino twice, and sure there are the people there who don't care much about her, and just care about their beer and getting more beer. But there still an overwhelming number of "real" fans there to enjoy the show just like I am. In fact, when I saw Stevie in 2007 at the Borgata (casino in Atlantic City) she said "Well, I can't think of a nicer group of people to end a tour with. You have been, tonight, such a pleasure."

I have to agree.Only good thing is ,you dont get kicked off the property, like at self contained venues.
Yes the ticket deal is a joke,Which I just found out last friday driving down there.saturday I lucked out calling The Turning Stone on the horn and scooping up front row tickets,I was shocked their policy is
the front sections are reserved for the boxoffice phone and people that buy tickets at the boxoffice.Ticketmaster and others will get theother seats.I know The Borgata has a similar program .,but I have not tried it yet.

I'm glad you had a good time,How was the security, did they bust balls,or were they laxed.

I have to agree.Only good thing is ,you dont get kicked off the property, like at self contained venues.
Yes the ticket deal is a joke,Which I just found out last friday driving down there.saturday I lucked out calling The Turning Stone on the horn and scooping up front row tickets,I was shocked their policy is
the front sections are reserved for the boxoffice phone and people that buy tickets at the boxoffice.Ticketmaster and others will get theother seats.I know The Borgata has a similar program .,but I have not tried it yet.
congrats on scoring front row for the turning stone show awesome at least you got front row for one of the shows awesome job and cool.

Aside from the ticket price, I love casino shows. But, I love casinos in general and don't find them to be hellish at all. I find the Connecticut casinos, Mohegan Sun especially, to be pretty enjoyable.
That said, I'm not going to the MGM show because I simply can't justify spending that amount of money to see the same show I spent that much money to see last year. Maybe that makes me a bad fan but I'd much rather save that money to see live acts that change it up nightly or at least at all. I'm glad Stevie's still touring and she still does do a great job with what she does give but at this stage in the game, it's not the venue deterring me.

wow sorry to hear about the passing of your friend and to find out 5 years later is a real bummer sorry to hear that. My ex boy friend he passed away it will be a year on June 18th i found out 2 weeks after was so heart broken about him passing a few months before he passed got to see him i was in the hospital for an endoscopy and I was leaving and he was coming into the hospital he was going for treat of skin cancer milenoma saw him jan. of last year and he died 5 months later. I had a shorter time frame of finding out and seeing we went out for about 5 months or so bet kept in touch from time to time. you never know when will be your last time with someone before they pass. Cancer is one of the cruelest diseases where some people have some time to say there good byes to family and friends and some people find out and shortly after they found they are dead. I am so sorry to hear about your friend i can relate but probably not the time frame of finding out they passed like you did it would be such a shock. I am truely sorry for your loss and hope to meet up with you at the show on Aug. 28th.

Casino shows are ok,But ,I agree on the runaway ticket prices, also how they give the front rows to the highrollers at some Casinos. No ,you are not a bad fan, money tight these days As far as I see it,we are still in a recession, dont worry.I will be shocked it this show sells out at these prices.now I wonder how are they selling.

I'm glad you had a good time,How was the security, did they bust balls,or were they laxed.
Security was pretty danged tight, I saw people being told to put their cell-phones away and they kept people from going to the foot of the stage until Diana insisted finally 'NO! 'don't stop them! No! I want people to have a good time'- this was near the end of the show- After she completed her song and a handful of fans were finally allowed to the bottom of the stage, she said "I want security to know that I appreciate them and I want to be nice to them- I know that they were only doing their job, but I saw some of you were being held back and I like to see you up close- You're watching me, but I'm also looking at your faces, your eyes"- I found it all quite classy and touching.
Like others here have written, the casino crowds can be high rollers comped down front, her most vocal fans weren't down front and several times made attempts to walk on down the steps and stand by the stage. They didn't get far, even well-into the show. I think Ross was relieved that some fans made the attempt to 'good vibe' her because I think there were just maybe a dozen or so of her big fans down front, most of the best seats were filled with high rollers, several of whom I heard brag 'Wow these are great seats! Free!' I sat next to a 60-something guy who had his arms folded across his chest most of the show, not tons of fun, to say the least.
I wasn't comped, but I got upgraded when I picked my ticket up at will-call- they were going to make me wait to see if 'one came up in Orchestra' so I said, 'Ok, well should I get back in line but just now make sure you have what you need for the $70 the ticket I'd reseved on the phone and get that out of the way?' The ticket clerk said 'yes, please' asked for my Id, and I signed the receipt, which had been billed to my credit card when I ordered by phone. Gave him no hassles.
I had an 'ehh' seat in Section 101 originally. I was pleasant and I think the guy at the counter was gay and though I am in my quite mid 40s, I was one of the youngest people there, I saw one girl in her 30s but most of the crowd was in their 60s, I'd say. The counter guy suddenly pulled up one seat- Orchestra Center, Row L- and said "Oh hell, why go back in line, it's almost showtime, here's one"-- then, magically on his computer screen appeared an Orchestra seat after I'd followed his procedure for my will-call ticket . It was only a $15 increase I had to pay, top ticket price was $85, very low. I thanked him and asked 'May I put that additonal $15 on my credit card, too?" when I knew that the answer was 'yes'. He said "yes, that would be fine' and there I had my orchestra seat.
I'd paid $150 for Miss Ross at the old Foxwoods venue in 2007, and this show was double the length and had staging and a 15 piece band and a setlist to really raise the bar, if anyone pays attention to these things. No 'Baby Love' or "Where Did Our Love Go'- staples for decades in her set-- she did Supremes song she seldom has done, and even pulled out a favorite cut of her backup singer and credited him for saying to her ''you've got to do this song'
- it from a rather-flop 1987 release, an album cut called 'It's Hard For Me To Say'-- She explained twice during the concert that she wanted to do songs she thought people expected her to do, but also wanted there to be some surprises "for those of you who have been so wonderful to keep coming to see me over again for all these years"- So, you'll know most of the songs, but you might not be expecting some of the others!"--It was the perfect approach. Wow.
And "Reflections' as her third song was the first time she has sung it in 10 years, and with the horns and strings, it rocked.
Someone here posted they have 12th row orchestra at the MGM - you will be very pleased, it was a great seat. I had been closer - Row C, left orchestra for another show about 18 months ago, and I liked this center orchestra in Row L even better- No craning your neck up, you're at eye level with the perfomer on stage.
You know, it's a very deep-level drop from the stage to the first row. I guess that's often the case at many venues, but in a way, I am unsure if Stevie's 'Edge' walk will even be possible- and yes, security is tight. But, it's very possible that Stevie may venture down off the stage to do a version of The Edge walk, I think she loves doing it as much as the fans who enjoy it.
Can someone verify if Stevie did an Edge walk at the Mohegan Sun when she did her 'Two Voices' tour? I was at the show but had a poor seat, and don't recall if she did the Edge walk. I loved the concert a lot and didn't mind the bad seat. That is totally unlike me. But that's how much I loved the 'Two Voices' concept and execution. Such a great tour.
But for anyone picking up a Stevie ticket in person at will-call at the MGM, I found that they were appreciative of your following their procedures (showing your id and signing the receipt that you'd pre-ordered the ticket over the phone) and just as charmingly as you can ask if one of their high rollers had cancelled after you've gone through with their procedures. It also didn't hurt that I went to will-call at about 7:40 with showtime at 8 and there was a line behind me and the guy saw no sense in me going back to play a waiting game when he knew he might as well sell the better seat to someone willing to pay the small fee and not be all testy about it.
Thank you Eli Lilly, I think my mindset was perfect for playing the ticket game at WillCall last night :)

Thanks I was the one that said I had 12th orchestra center thanks for telling me about my view. you mentioned about Stevie doing an Edge Walk during the two voices tour with don henley and yes she did I had front row center right in front of Stevie awesome show and got to shaken her hands that night awesome show i got my ticket thru the I love all access i think my ticket was originally $400 got the higher package and they cancelled the party before the show for some reason so a few days before or a week before they mentioned that if i wanted to keep my ticket and they will credit me $200 and keep the same ticket or go to mansfield mass to honor the same package I said I will keep my ticket and took the refund and got an engraved pen set with Stevie and Dons name engraved on them in a black box i was happy actually estatic when it was front row and right in front of her microphone too which was awesome it was my second time shaking her hands the first time was the filming of FM soundstage in boston first night of filming the private fan club performance awesome got to shake hands with stevie that night and also got to shake hands with Lindsey too that night. awesome wish she would do another tour like that with don henley and would be awesome is to see stevie with heart. hope to meet up with you if your going to the foxwoods show. When I went to the show at the Borgata. We were in the second row and taking photos of the stage prior to the show. A security guard approached us and said Stevie requested absolutely no photos, but they would allow us to take a few right at the beginning of the show, no flash, but after that to put the cameras away. Stevie probably noticed a lot of photos being taken the night before and complained. Maybe it's a case of vanity as she gets older?

I wouldnt trust the so called "ticket liquidator" sites especially since all the links dont work. All it takes is one douchebag with a flash to ruin it for everyone else. I sincerely don't think it's a vanity issue as much as it is a momentary blindness/disorientation issue. After all, she needs to be able to read her teleprompter!

That could be too. It's funny how many people don't realize most commercial camera flashes are only effective from a distance of no more than 30 feet and yet you always see people in the rafters flashing away. All they are doing is getting a clear shot of all the heads in front of them.

yes I saw some great shows there saw The Scorpions there also after Stevie show in 1989 i saw Heart and Bonnie Raitt and Jeff Healey Band there as well. I remember too back in 1991 i copied the ticket that i had for the whole lotta trouble tour 1991 before returning it. I remember though they said on the radio that the show was cancelled due to weather. but we all knew it was the management and money problems they were having it at the time like you said above.

Ok thanks for the help in remembering that show that never happen in 1991 ,I remember my mom called me at work when she heard the bad news on tv about the show got canceled,I was very upset and looking forward to see Stevie that night ,after hearing the bad news ,I think I broke up like a baby in front of my friends at work.
They thought somebody died in my family.Speaking of canceled Stevie concerts ,Back in 1994 Street Angel tour at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs,NY was canceled do to a wicked thunderstorm that ripped through the area earlier that day.
Yes I know ,I was there.Btw,The camera thing ,leave it home if worried about losing it.The ledge will be plastered with photos of all the concerts anyway.Half of the time 100 percent better shots what I can take.

I'm surprised shes not playing Mohegan. In 2008 when I saw her there the arena was pretty packed. She even made a few comments about how impressed she was with the audience. This was a one-off gig, with nothing to support and no dates following until June, yet she still sold it out (or near capacity).
i was there, too. my friend and i flew out to NYC then drove to Reading on Friday, hoofed it to Cape Cod for Saturday, then went to Mohegan Sun on Sunday, then the Boston Marathon that Monday. what a fun time it was! :) and then 7 months later, i moved on out.
despite the "difficulty to get tickets" - Mohegan, overall, is a nice venue. i have to give them that credit. i'm looking forward to seeing the MGM Foxwoods Theater. it seems like everyone plays there these days - they get usually at least 2 or 3 names a week coming through it seems.
however, just don't ask me where my seats are. haha :)

Hum thats a good idea, for a upgrade for me.But I have not heard anymore about how are the ticket sales are going for these three east coast shows, are they selling.also the advertising is very slim for these shows,Will here in Connecticut,I remember last month when Patty Labelle came to Foxwoods Her ad's were on tv and the radio none stop for two months up until the show.Or is it the radio and tv station I watch don't support Stevie's ads.I hope Stevie's tickets are selling.also good luck getting yours.

the MGM/Foxwoods show is selling fine. Although - remember - soooo many of the casino shows are comp tickets anyway.
WHCN 105.9 had a ticket giveaway in early June I think... I totally missed out on that one and only learned of it after the fact. I'm hoping they (or another station) does another give away as summer rolls on. I've managed to see Stevie a few times going that route. I guess if all else fails, I'll be in line behind vivfox one hour before showtime. Friends of mine just did it at Mohegan for Michael Buble and ended up in the front row. Dream can come true I suppose...

Yeah I thought so, one day this week I tried to get one ticket (I already have mine) just to see what comes up and it said that nothing was available. It's great for Stevie since of all the shows booked there this summer, hers is the most expensive. Jerry Seinfeld is the only other act that comes close. Most other shows are in the $60-$75 range.

Yesterday I went to Foxwoods with my mom so she could gamble. I'm not a gambler. While she was winning money playing black jack I was checking out the layout of the place because I had never been there before. So next Saturday night for the concert I will be confident in finding the venue's location while walking through the sea of people. I am very excited for this show!

http://www.newstimes.com/entertainment/article/Stevie-Nicks-brings-summer-tour-to-MGM-Grand-630041.php
After coming off the road following a 2005 tour with Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Nicks planned to get back to the studio to record a new solo album. She was talked out of it by her manager, of all people.
There's no point, she was basically told. After all of her time and expense, Nicks' new creation would just end up available on some nefarious website for free download. That's just the way of the world now in the music business.
"That's why I didn't do another record," Nicks said in a recent phone interview from her Los Angeles home. "I was going to do another record, but my manager basically said not to bother because 150 of your closest fans will buy it and then in the dark of the night they'll just push `send' and send it out to everyone they know.
"I was horrified."
It was following Fleetwood Mac's most recent tour, which ended in December, that Nicks decided to throw caution to the wind and get started on a new album.
"One day I woke up and I just said, `I'm making another record and I don't care if anybody buys it,'" she recalled. "That's OK because at least I'll have done it. At least I made the effort.
"I'm going to hope that my fans are honorable and that they don't -- in the dead of night when nobody can see them -- send out my record to 500 of their friends. That's not because I need the money. It's because I need to know that my fans are honorable."
Nicks' justifiable fear extends to her brief summer tour, which comes to the MGM Grand at Foxwoods Saturday night. She will stick to her solo hits and Fleetwood Mac favorites and is not showcasing any of the new tunes.
"No, because we don't want my brand-new song filmed and put on YouTube the next morning," she said. "Nobody is going to hear one note of this record until it is released. And then it can go everywhere, but at least it was new for one day.
"All you can do is laugh," she added, "but for five years, I cried about this."
In making the new record, Nicks enlisted Dave Stewart of Eurythmics fame to produce and she called the sessions "the best time I've had ever."
She also ended up writing songs with Stewart, something she said she never did with Fleetwood Mac's other main songwriters, Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie.
"It has just been an eye-opener for me," she said. "I've been very selfish about writing with anybody else and I never have -- I didn't write with Lindsey; I didn't write with Christine; I didn't write with anybody.
"I understood, all of a sudden, why people like Paul McCartney and John Lennon and Rodgers and Hammerstein and all of the great songwriting teams wrote together. They still wrote alone, but why they wrote together, also. It opens up something that you don't have, which in my case it's that I don't know thousands of chords.
"I only know four chords, and so writing with Dave opened up a whole side of music that I've never had at my fingertips before. These nine songs that we wrote, actually, are somewhat more musical because they have more in them. It's just been a lot of fun."
Nicks was thrilled when Stewart suggested that they just put her completed poems to music, as she was used to combining verses from several of her poems and creating lyrics in that manner.
"More of my words actually got into these songs because he'd say, `Well, I like this poem and I don't really want to take two verses out. Let's just do it. Let's just put all the verses in,'" Nicks, 62, said. "Of course, I'm just like, `Right on,' because my whole story is going into my song.
"He just starts playing ... and I just basically start reciting, in song, from my poetry page and in about five minutes we had written a really beautiful song and my life was forever changed.
"I think that the product that we've come up with is really spectacular. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I think it's really, really great. I think people are going to love it."
One of the songs on the new album, which Nicks has targeted for a March 1 release, is especially dear to the singer, "Soldier's Angel." The song came about after Nicks' first trip to visit wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland.
"I wrote a poem called `Soldier's Angel' in 2005 and it is very much for them," she said. "I was going to make it into a song, but I never did. Well, I finally did it and it's pretty chilling, actually. It's about visiting the soldiers and seeing everything that goes on there -- the good, the bad and the ugly.
"I'm pretty proud of it and I hope the soldiers are proud of it, too, because it's theirs."
MGM Grand at Foxwoods is at 240 MGM Grand Drive, Mashantucket. Saturday, 8 p.m. $85-$135. 866-646-0609, www.mgmatfoxwoods.com.

Another nice interview. Wish she'd given us a little more info, cause this is pretty much everything we've heard in previous interviews. But we do finally have a reason as to why it took so long this time for her to make a new solo record.
I wish some of these interviewers would ask different questions. I'd like to hear more about some other songs on the new record. Ones she hasn't talked about yet.

Well, I'm in.
4:57 pm- yikes- got a ticket over the phone, finally, with hopes for an upgrade when I reach the counter. Online was impossible, all day today and this week, so I called the MGM Grand directly, a few times, today. If anyone wants to try the # that I had success with, the phone number is 1-800-442-1000. Follow the few prompts, and you'll get a live person within a few minutes.
Mine is only a single ticket, I got Row B in the Mezzanine, but maybe I'll get lucky when I go to pick it up. Who knows. I haven't sat this far back since the 'Two Voices' tour and I loved that show. At least I'm in. Sore and tired, and all.
I've been up since 6am and have been moving from where I live all week, so if there's any Ledgies there, I'll be the way exhausted looking guy who needs a haircut, in a black shirt. I may bring the maroon hoodie from her 2007 Crystal Visions tour. Say hi if you like, the penny slots are right by the will-call for tickets, and that's where I'll be.
Oh and Viv if you're reading, or to anyone going, you will save mucho time walking if you park in the MGM Grand Garage rather than the Foxwoods one, then take an escalator downstairs to the arena.
Well, I have an hour drive now. Better go! I'm not a techie, so won't have photos or video of the show, but blah-blah-blah with the wordage, I'll let you all know how it was!
Woo-hoo. Just seemed wrong to break a tradition I've kept since 1982~. I think my cat will understand :)

Oooh, I hope any Ledge members who went to the MGM had fun.
It's a long story, but I walked out. Was real unhappy with my seat, is the long and short of it. All I heard was the very end of 'Dreams' and 'You Wreck Me' and 'Sorcerer'- I got in late, was waiting for an 'upgrade' that never came. They told me she was 'about to go on' and so I waited maybe for 5 minutes. When I found out I'd missed 'FFG' and saw what was to me the terrible Mezzanine Seat, I tried to accept it, but lasted just 2 songs. I told the ticket counter 'give this to someone who wants it' and left, I heard some of 'GDW' as I was walking out.
The mezzanine is terrible. The higher up nose-bleeds would have been better, for me. Too boxed in in the mezz. When I first was leaving, I tried to explain to mezz floor clerks I could see the empty floor seats (not a lot) and that I'd missed the first 3 songs waiting for the upgrade, and how boxed in the mezzanine is, and some morbidly obese female supervisor walked over and said 'try changing your meds'-- kind of funny in hindsight.
I said a few unkind words back to her as I exited down the escalator (never a good sign you have a prime ticket!) and by the time I reached the ticket counter just outside of the venue I was pissed off, plenty. "I missed three songs and the lights never dimmed and they told me when I checked at the doors she hadn't gone on yet!" Well, then she did!
So, I didn't get my way. Big deal. It looked like the crowd was really into it.
I found 'You Wreck Me' flat, but maybe it wasn't. I was not impressed by the sound and the screen image seemed blurry and I couldn't wait another hour or whatever for "Love Is". The new med sometimes makes things blurry, when I'm wearing contacts.
I should have known better than to go out after having been up for a lot of hours and having driven about 4 hours prior to the show.
I don't like that the meds 'show' but well, they do, apparantly, and have been changed again, and that combined with the suck ass seat - I just figured 'write it off, get out of here'. Some other time, maybe.
They all had jobs to do, I couldn't sit in that seat, and life goes on. I did think 'wow she's going on late!' but shouldn't have waited so long at the counter.
So, tell me, how was the effing concert?!
PS- Oh, and for 'You Wreck Me' and 'Sorcerer', twice a female clerk walked all over us in those narrow seats to get to some nice woman who just had a cell phone up in the air, not even a camera. I think that, too, factored in with my anxiety. I mean, she was in the mezzanine, let her hold her damned cell phone up! And don't climb past me to get to her when I don't even have a cell phone or camera!

First of all Stevie sounds incredible, she was in a really great mood and seemed to be having a blast. By now most people know the set list, nothing really changed from the "Crystal Visions" set, opened with "Fall From Grace", went into "Outside The Rain/Dreams" etc. For her intro to the crowd she said "Hello Foxwoods! All you foxheads!!" At first I thought she called us "f*ckheads". After doing Tom Petty's "You Wreck Me" she said "We have officially replaced "I Need To Know" with "You Wreck Me", only Tom could write lyrics like that." Around this time she said how beautiful she thought the theater was, she said she really liked it. She would say this a few more times before the night was thru. It is a great place to see a show, the sound is near perfection in there. I just hate the casino.
The drums were REALLY strong and sounded great, having Taku back makes a huge difference. "Stand Back" was killer as was "Gold Dust Woman". In a lot of ways I think these were better than the Soundstage versions. She just sounded SO good. Before doing "Face The Promise" she said "This next song is one we do just for fun, it was written by Bob Dylan....Bob Dylan? No, not Bob Dylan, I mean Bob SEGER! Although Bob Seger is probably as weird as Bob Dylan, the Bob's!! Anyway this called "Face The Boss"....no, no "Face The Promise"!!!"
For the band intros she said was going to do this pretty fast, but it was still like a ten minute intro. She started off by saying she was working on a new album and "it was so surreal to be working in the studio, where you sit around, sing a little, laugh and then sit again. So getting out to do these shows is kind of like, did you see "Alice In Wonderland", it was like that, "come back...." or better yet it was like "spooooooooon" like that. So if I wander off just say "Come back Alice....spooooooon." She was really funny and Lori kept cracking up at this. When she got to Taku she said "This man is back with us, sometimes he's in the band and sometimes he leaves to go be with another band sometimes he be's with us. Be's with us!? Great English, hey I went to college for FIVE years, a communication major!!!" and laughed.
"Edge Of Seventeen" sounded like it was 1981 all over again. No flourishes, just the song straight ahead. Came back out for "Rock And Roll", I think she screwed up the last verse a bit, but fixed it nicely. Then came "Love Is". This is hands down worth the price of admission (which in my case was $125). The song was done with no intro, it started and she sang it. You could have heard a pin drop as she was singing, just her, the piano and Lori and Sharon. It was beautiful. After the song she told the story of looking for songs for the new album and pulled out the piano demo of "Love Is" and remembered what a great song it was. She said that she never liked the TISL version but loved the piano demo version which she said is pretty much what she just did. She ended by once again saying how great the MGM theater is and how she wished she had one of these in her town so she could play there all the time, she said maybe she should move to Foxwoods so she could be here all the time. Finally she said we won't see her again until next summer when the new album comes out, she said she'd see us then. I'm sure it will be at Foxwoods.
Overall, a great show and I'm feel bad for anyone who missed these shows. I've seen Stevie 12 times since 1986 and this was hands down one of the best shows she's done. I really hope that "Love Is" was recorded and is maybe a bonus cut on the new album, it was THAT good.

You told me everything I wanted to hear about the show. You must have been on the floor, yes? It could have been me, but the sound was nothing in the mezzanine. It sounded and looked like I was watching an old VHS tape, and those screens at the MGM aren't exactly state of the art! I liked the old Foxwoods venue better than the MGM, it was at least comfortable, no matter where your seat was. Saw many good shows there.
I am very glad you had a great time, you and everyone deserved to! I just didn't deserve to, haha!
So, FFG was first, \"Outside The Rain' and then 'Dreams', you confirmed. When I heard the closing notes of 'Dreams' as I walked in, I thought 'Oh noooooo'. I love FFG and OTR. In truth, I forgot about 'Face The Promise'- I would have tried to stay for that and 'Love Is'. Dang.
Nice big crowd for her!

WOW! It was fab. Last night at the Taj wasn't so good for me even having row 2. Tonight I bought tix from ebay in the mezzanine. I loved it because I never sit out of Edge walk reach, and could just relax and enjoy. We met Jimmy and some of the band in the casino and they were gracious and took photos with us. They actually spoke to us first! Awesome night! Stevie was dead - on and extra chatty and happy. LOVED IT!

First off - great show .. for what it was.
Hearing "Love Is" was awesome - but seriously, hearing 3 covers in a 13 song or so set is absolutely ridiculous considering the amount of other material which is skipped. But that's a whole other issu for a whole other day.
All of the songs were pretty much spot on - especially Stand Back and Edge of 17.
Second off - what a crappy venue. I will never attend another "casino" show again in my life unless it's the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas or at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. I paid $135 for the front row - I'm there to rock and have a good time, not being told by the ushers to sit down so everyone else behind us can see. I'm also not there to have them jump all over me twice and threaten to kick me out "for taking pictures" - when I was clearly reaching into my pocket for lifesavers breath mints.
Both times.
Concessions there is a joke - it takes forever to get through the line because all alcohol must be dumped into plastic cups - and whatever doesn't go into a cup the person must stand there and finish at the line - making it go slow. I didn't miss the show, barely got in on time and in my seat - but there was absolutely NO warning in the lobby the show was about to begin. So several hundred people were screwed at seeing the start of the show. I could go on and on - but in the end - the fact I was allowed to breath is a godsend.
I could honestly never set foot in the theater again and would be quite happy about it.
I hope next year she's back at Mohegan Sun Arena or at least plays the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford.

The security was super tight at the show, they were stopping people from taking pictures, videos etc. all over the place. I saw Heart there a month ago and the only thing they stopped people from doing was recording it. Flashbulbs were popping all night long. I did see a sign as you walked in that said "at the request of the artist, no photos, videos or audio recording devices allowed."
As for missing the start of the show, it started like 20 minutes late. The guy next to me kept saying "she should start right at 8pm, if you can't get in on time, too bad for you!!!"
The alcohol thing must have to do with the size of the crowd or something, again at the Heart show there was no problem, beer was given to you in the plastic bottle and no cup.
The theater itself is a great place to see a show. I personally don't like Foxwoods though. I would much rather go to Mohegan to see a show. Although based on how much Stevie said she loved the place, I bet she'll be back there next year.

Actually I was on the floor, but way back. The screens were very blurry. But that may have been Stevie's people, I noticed that the camera work was poorly done. For instance during "Edge" when Stevie and Sharon are trading lines back and forth the camera was on the drummer. Then would quickly go to Stevie then back again. So I think the image on the screen was Stevie's people.
I saw Heart there a month ago and the screen images were clear. Soundwise, I thought it sounded awesome, this is the third show I've seen there and each time I'm amazed how how great it sounds.
Finally what row were in you in the mezzanine? I was in row "A" for Heart and would get those seats again in a heartbeat (pardon the pun). I've also been in the second row from the stage (not last night) and those were obviously great too.
The only thing I didn't like at the show was these four women who stood in front of me the whole night dancing and swaying in a drunken kind of interpretive dance way. It was annoying to keep seeing hands in your face. But that's a concert for you!

Row B in the Left Mezzanine, skuncles. So, it was me. I thought it was a horrible seat and the sound was not even like being at a concert. Funny that Stevie's people had the soft-focus 'Mame' thing going on with the screens, since you said Heart's screens were clear. It sounds like a great show. Had I been in there for the beginning, maybe I would have stayed. It's only money, and it's good I knew to leave, I think.
I think it's a crappy venue, I don't want security climbing over me. Rude staff. I'm glad at least one other person thought so, too.
No MGM for me ever again, even if I were to get front row. The Mohegan Sun at least has a professional staff. I'll drive into other states to see Stevie before I'd go to the MGM again.

I'm definitely hoping they head back to Mohegan Sun next year, or at the very least the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, since it will be promoting a new album, etc. At the Oakdale Theater you at least get an 'honest' attempt at tickets and seat upgrades, where at MGM & Mohegan, a number of seats are always held back for the Tribe members and their high rollers.
The promoter who 'threw' these shows togethers originally wanted the Mohegan Sun Arena, but another convention had already booked it for the night by the time it came to sign and seal the deal.

Went to the show last night. Stevie looked and sounded good. She is so funny and adorable and I love her. However, last night was one of my worst concert experiences ever. The ushers and security people were just too rude for my liking.
They told us to put away cameras and it was at the artist's request that no photos be allowed.
If that is going to be the case on the next tour I'll skip it.
Sorry to sound so bitter but I go to concert to have fun not be harrassed and stressed out.

Its a shame security were being dicks at these last 2 shows, you would think they would have a security briefing to let them know about the edge walk. The casino and state fairs are not good venues for a Stevie show.
The Santa Barbara security were very kewl. In this photo you can see a security dude just to the left of Waddy, back against the stage looking towards the audience. This guy was pretty much next to me or in front of me and was totally kewl!!

see, that's the problem ... the "no recording/no cell phones" thing came from Stevie herself.
which is completely crazy because at Fleetwood Mac last year at the Long Island show - i was in the front row - and the security people were taking my photo against the stage with the band performing with the backdrop!
the band had also requested a no 'rush' stage until Go Your Own Way, but the rush came earlier -- we were well down there by the start of "I'm So Afraid".
Stevie needs to get with 2010 - i know she's afraid of having her stuff on YouTube, etc., but it certainly hasn't hurt Lady Gaga from selling tickets. i'm just sayin.

Yes I'd say you're right. We went through a whole FM tour at larger venues where security was more easy going. The only reason that security would be tighter at the smaller shows is at the artist's request. They'll tell you before the concert begins what's going to be allowed (i.e. "first three rows") and it's clear to me those directions come from the performer's camp.
Both Stevie and FM used to be pretty liberal about thest things in the most recent years. And I found it quite a contrast from Lindsey's UTS tour, where they didn't want cameras (loosened up the restrictions for GOS). Now, it seems like Stevie has retreated a little and cracked down again. Probably has to do with her internet paranoia.

Hilarious. Although I think it's pretty strange to even call people "Foxheads."
I guess she didn't know the official name for people from Connecticut!

I think that letting the first 3 rows up might have been a venue decision due to fire codes. Foxwoods is in CT but not far from RI and ever since the Great White fire, things have really tightened up.
It's almost as if Stevie is trying to hide something. I don't know but i dont like it. Stevie needs to realize that not all her fans are 80 years old. It's a new generation and we are in different times. Get with the program, Stevie!

Stevie must be getting some bad advice with respect to internet exposure,
I understand not wanting to expose new unreleased material,
however, the positive effect from a few clips of her shows on u-tube would be good for her,
whenever I show Stevie u-tube vids to "non-believers", they are amazed by how good she actually is,
more exposure is good,
Please call off the overzealous protection agencies, we mean no harm,

There was a sign as we walked in stating the artist did not want pics taken, so that is why the camera nazi's were out. Also is was her stipulation that the beer be poured in the cups, the bartender told us that. Of course the venue could have had 2 bartenders working, and people could have had a clue about what they wanted to order before they got up there. As for those people standing for the entire show, you could have done your bizarre swaying and arm raising in your chairs. There were people in my section who were extremely rude and confrontational with those who asked them to sit down. Others who were asked showed more consideration. I understand some people like to dance (if that is what you call it) but for the entire show? Really.
I don't mind the venue per se, but the casino sucks. Mohegan is far superior. At least it is easier to get some food and a drink before the show.
I thought her vocals were excellent, and she did seem to be having fun. We saw the bass player leaving about 12:30 or so.

Well I went to the show last night and I had an ABSOLUTE BLAST. My mother had the audacity to arrive at Foxwoods around 11am that day. I was exhausted just from walking to the car to the hotel room. That place was freakin huge! I pictured something completely different in my mind.
I did not have a ticket for this show when I got there. Luckily, my mother did some bartering at the box office and got me a seat in the mezzanine, left center, row B. My friend from college ended up coming down for the night. Her mother and friends were going to the show. We had a nice little group going.
I didn't enter the venue until about 7:50. I waited half an hour in line for a beer. They had to pour each bottle into a cup. I couldn't believe how slow the line was moving.
Fall From Grace - Well, I run into the arena and there she is. Looking hot in her sequined sleeves and gloves. Same get up as the Unleashed tour. This one sounded great. Awesome crowd at this show!
Let me just say at this point I am absolutely so upset to the point of leaving the show. I tried standing up and got yelled at by some old buzzard. I go to rock and roll concerts to stand up, dance, and sing. This whole sitting thing was not for me.
Outside the Rain/Dreams - Same old, she avoided some of the high notes on OTR. Dreams sounded good. Great reaction from the crowd.
You Wreck Me - I like how she DID NOT give this one an introduction. I loved it! She rocked and jammed on her tambo. She said something like "Tom Petty always has to be in my set. We replaced the former INTK for YWM."
Sorcerer - This sounded good as well. However, I left the mezzanine section and got down to the front of the arena. My aunt snuck 2 tickets up with her to the concessions (my mother's) because there were extra seats in the tenth row.
Gold Dust Woman - SANITY!! I can move and breathe. I really didn't pay attention to the song because of the other observations I was making during this song. SECURITY SUCKED. On the way out, I told some guy off because of how horrible my experience was with them. I really was ASTOUNDED.
If Anyone Falls - THIS SONG RULES LIVE. I hope she plays it forever. It just thumps right along, everyone in the front was up and dancing. You can tell Stevie loves singing this one. Huge crowd pleaser.
Face the Promise - She started rambling about how this was a Bob Dylan song, then corrected herself. She said there was no way Bob Dylan was crazier than Bob Seger, but that they were both crazy. Some people sat on this one. She needs to AXE this one. Big time.
Rhiannon - AWESOME VERSION! She sang so well last night. So much better than the Unleashed Tour. She did a cool little dance with her Rhiannon sleeves in the middle.
Stand Back - YES! Taku is back! She wore her long black shawl with a white one on top of that. This was my favorite song of the night. She got into it! Lots of twirls and dancing. She hit the high note on "taaaaaaake" me home and did a high kick. Huge standing ovation on this!
Landslide - Dedicated this song to her friend Mary from the 70's. Same old. I put my phone up in the air to let my friend listen to the song and got harrassed by security. She told me that i had to stop recording and to put my phone away. Blown away.
How Still My Love - She took off the black shawl and put the white one back on. She did some cool funky dances with it at the end!
Edge - I rushed the stage and pretty much trampled over many people. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. I thought it was amazing that I started in the back of the arena and made it to the stage. I for sure thought that in 12 years of Stevie solo concerts, I wasn't going to make it, but I did. Even people in the first row didn't get down. Awful, awful, awful, security. Great version of this song!!! I grabbed both her hands and said "I can't wait for the new album" and she said "I can't hear you". Oh well, at least it was something different than "I LOVE YOU I LOVE YOU BLARGHANELAB" which is my usual script to her.
Rock and Roll - FUN!! Waddy gave me a head nod!
Love is - Beautiful, saw lots of tears in the audience. She talked about her going back for the new album and finding the demo tape.
Overall, it was such a fun amazing night. I spotted Brian from the "other" board, the Brian that used to run it. I tried to track him down after the show but couldnt. Let me just say, she was 10x better than last year. I was blown away!

Stevie Nicks at the MGM Grand
Published: Sunday, August 29, 2010, 9:58 AM Updated: Sunday, August 29, 2010, 11:58 AM
Donnie Moorhouse, The Republican
http://www.masslive.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2010/08/stevie_nicks_at_the_mgm_grand.html
MASHANTUCKET, Conn. -- It came during “Stand Back,” her signature pirouette with shawl-covered arms outstretched, looking like a bird in flight as the band revved on.
Stevie Nicks took a break from a recording session to mount a quick, six-show tour that included a stop at the Grand Theater at the MGM Grand at Foxwoods on Saturday night. She performed a two-hour set that featured many of her classic hits and some choice covers.
It was almost as if “the twirl,” was what the raucous crowd had come to see. They cheered wildly at the teased, half-versions that came during songs like “Gold Dust Woman,” and “Rhianna,” and erupted when the real thing arrived, augmented by a video of Nicks’ younger self as a whirling dervish on the giant screen behind the stage.
Nicks was in fine form throughout the performance, which also served as a showcase for guitarist / musical director Waddy Wachtel, a longtime Nicks collaborator who took up a lot of time and space throughout the evening with his various intros and solos.
Nicks was dressed in black, occasionally donning the aforementioned shawl for certain songs, and also randomly grabbing a scarf-adorned tambourine.
The rock veteran sounded strong on an early run through “Dreams,” and a crisp cover of Tom Petty’s “You Wreck Me.”
“Gold Dust Woman,” was a centerpiece of the first half of the set, with Wachtel’s extended solo pulling the song into epic (in length) territory.
Nicks commented on the luxurious theater, suggesting a move to Connecticut might be in the offing if it came with an opportunity to own the venue as well. She certainly owned on this night as the standing-crowd showered her with ovation after ovation.
“If Anyone Falls In Love,” was hampered by a bass-heavy mix, but Nicks recovered, first with a cover of Bob Seger’s “Face The Promise,” and then with the piano-fueled “Rhianna.”
She went straight acoustic for the beautifully-rendered “Landslide,” and then gave the stage over to her drummer and percussionist who initiated, along with help from Wachtel, a six-plus minute jam that served as the intro to “Edge of Seventeen.”
Nicks spent considerable time shaking hands and greeting fans along the stage apron as the song closed, before returning and kicking off the encore with Led Zeppelin’s “Rock N’ Roll.”

Glad you had such a good time, Jimmy. I giggle that she started talking about Dylan and then had to change course. You're right that she needs to ditch this song. I hope I get to hear You Wreck Me live. I have not looked at any of the video yet, because I want to see it myself first.
Seems to me that Stevie saw all the Unleashed video on Youtube and was really unhappy about it. She's putting a stop to that:laugh:. Her energies are misplaced.
I'm against the staff running around telling people to put down their cell phones. That's just a waste of time and an annoyance for people who aren't doing anything wrong, as Nikolaj pointed out.
As far as keeping people in their seats, I wish all venues would do that. I'm glad security was doing their job for a change and seeing how fights broke out at the last couple of Stevie concerts, I hope they start throwing people out who break the rules.
Michele
I honestly don't know how you can enjoy a rock and roll concert sitting down. I can't understand it at all. I just can't. Especially a Stevie Nicks concert where you can dance to everything. Review: Stevie Nicks' Voice Left Something To Be Desired
By THOMAS KINTER, Special To The Courant
2:53 p.m. EDT, August 29, 2010
Stevie Nicks holds one of the most substantial 1980s pop music legacies thanks to her work alone and as a member of Fleetwood Mac. Her show Saturday night at the MGM Grand Theater at Foxwoods casino in Mashantucket was her final stop on a brief run of summer dates, a fresh chance to polish up that chest of memories, even if Nicks is not quite capable of getting them to shine like they once did.
A husky, nasal edge is still her voice's defining trait, but a tool with fewer fine motor skills than it once possessed. The 62-year-old Nicks hammered away in the most general of fashions at her opener, "Fall from Grace," though she had some trouble competing with the robust chug of her 9-piece band.
Nicks sang with an almost detached quality, tugging at the long fabric strands that dangled from her microphone stand while floating through "Outside the Rain" with a nonchalant remove from any spark it may hold. Her phrasing had a scattershot quality, doing the popular Fleetwood Mac song "Dreams" no favors.
Nicks draped her voice over lyrics like it was a horse blanket, which made for a shapeless inflation of "Sorcerer" and a rasp-lined meander through "Gold Dust Woman" that was more insistent than artful. Her singing was the least melodic component of "If Anyone Falls," splattering against its roomy sway.
The show was a dawdler, taking nearly two hours for 15 songs, among which were covers of Tom Petty's "You Wreck Me" and Bob Seger's "Face the Promise," each a feasible vehicle for the percussive jabs that remain within her vocal range. Songs from her own history are much as they ever have been, but her stewardship of them has changed, to the point that she was most effective when she dialed back her singing, resorting to nearly spoken-word handling to make "Landslide" a cool, understated treat.
Nicks remains one of rock's most prominent shawl advocates, sporting them for a number of tunes and holding one aloft while spinning slowly to the bounding pulse of "Stand Back" when not trumpeting its lyrics. Her closing delivery of "Edge of Seventeen" was so much filler in a rendition that had more than its share, from the dragged-out drum solo that preceded it to the flabby jam that extended its back end.
She avoided tunes from her forthcoming album in the encore as she had during her show — she has spoken out against posting of clips online as spoilers for new work, and so isn't giving anyone the chance. Instead, she served as more of a passenger than driver in Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll," but moved to a comfortable finale with a stroll through the puffy "Love Is," evoking hints of the past without ever quite recapturing it.
Stevie Nicks' Saturday set list: "Fall from Grace," "Outside the Rain," "Dreams," "You Wreck Me," "Sorcerer," "Gold Dust Woman," "If Anyone Falls," "Face the Promise," "Rhiannon," "Stand Back," "Landslide," "How Still my Love," "Edge of Seventeen," (Encore) "Rock and Roll," "Love Is."

Yeah, that was too funny, and how she said we would be saying it for days! Her British accent was funny too when she did the band intros and said she and Lori wanted to get done with the recording and party but Sharon would say "Come on, we should do one more take" or something to that effect! Actually I don't think it is Sulamith's that was my first thought also. But I asked this question a long time ago when the drawing first appeared and then I found a web site of the artists work. I like that drawing and it's very similar to a photo of Stevie that was done in '86. The photo is in the '86 tour book but also on the back of the "I Can't Wait" sleeve.

Back in the day I recall reading reviews for the White Winged Dove and Mirage tour home videos, and the reviewers all pretty much said that Stevie sounded bad- one even thought she had laryngitis. So Stevie getting bad reviews about her live performance is nothing new... if anything, all of these other glowing reviews are a bit of an anomaly!

You just download the file like normal, then you have to basically download it again in a torrent program, bittorrent for example. This is where my question comes in, why does it take so long to download once inside the torrent program, I've been downloading this now for 2hrs and so far I'm only at 38% says it has another 3 hours to go.

There are a few (very few, is my guess) Ledge members adept at "torrential" soundclips who love it. Most of us are ignorant with how to 'make it work', I have observed over the years. The torrent-adept enjoy it and share it, which is nice. But they don't explain to the uninitiated anything about how to make it less difficult, and why should they? I know that many of us just wait 'til someone kind enough has provided a less time-consuming way to listen to the clips, converting them somehow.
More than 5 years ago, when I was having trouble with torrents, someone very savvy, very rich, and knows all about these things- told me 'don't bother. It's dead, like Beta. Those who love it, love it. Others shouldn't even bother with torrents'-
which; to me, means if you know how to use it, great, if not- wait. Someone not as torrent-devoted will make it easier for the rest of us :)

- but seriously, hearing 3 covers in a 13 song or so set is absolutely ridiculous considering the amount of other material which is skipped. But that's a whole other issu for a whole other day.
Stevie says she doesnt like to do new songs cause people dont know them and they usually leave for a bathroom break during them, so maybe if we all started just leaving our seats during the cover songs then maybe she would get the hint and stop doin them?

Currently there is only one person seeding (offering) the show. There are 66 others downloading from the original seeder. As more people start downloading, the process will go faster as long as those who complete their download stay online so that others can download the show. It also depends on whether the original seeder is currently online allowing others to download the files from his/her computer.

Whether it's Stevie Nicks, Cher, Lady Gaga, or the Rolling Stones, people will always make beer runs during the show - especially if you have lulls in your set list.
Kind of surprised me on TISL tour when she did about 4 new songs all in a row. Not the best mix idea, but I still enjoyed myself!

I am like the rest of you I cannot seat at a concert I am up and moving and dancing and singing usually have a cool people near me at least one side was really cool and the other side it was older couple very nice before the show i warned them i will be dancing and singing and up the whole time so ever so often the older guy next to me would be sarcastic to me and scream and grab my hand and he had the nerve to tell the lady in front of him to sit down she was dancing and grooving like me so she looked at him and she did sit i will not sit refuse too I told the guy next to me I said I paid $148 dollars for this ticket its my spot i will stand here and have a blast and that is what we do at a rock especially a Stevie Nicks concert you do get into the music and the rest of the fans around you just have a blast I just rocked I will say to the person nicely if they can not see they can stand up like the rest of us. The ushers and workers are not friendly at all at Foxwoods MGM Grand prefer the Mohegan Sun hope she will play there love the venue at MGM Grand awesome venue the people that work there suck not friendly at all.
See my feeling is, it's a concert, people WILL be up and dancing and for a while think they are Stevie herself!! I just hate it when it's in front of me!! If the crowd around me is up, then I'll be up getting into it, but if everyone around me is calm, I remain as calm as I can (REALLY tough during "Stand Back" or "Edge Of Seventeen"!!).
As for Foxwoods over Mohegan, I love the theater at Foxwoods, but I HATE the casino. Unless you get down and go right into the show and then leave it's fun. But I like to get there early and get something to eat etc. But the casino seems to be aimed more at high rollers only. I like Foxwoods when it first opened and saw a couple shows in the old theater and that was great. I just wish the MGM theater would move to Mohegan, I like that casino SO much more. Not just the casino part, the whole Mohegan Sun I like better. But I unless they make a better deal, I fear Stevie will be back at the MGM next year.

No kidding. I was getting worried when NONE of the other shows had popped up yet. Am very happy to see that someone recorded the show I was at. I try to get boots of all the Stevie shows I go to, was thinking this one wouldn't make it. (Although I did have to wait 20 years to get a hold of the RAL show I went to!!)

They cheered wildly at the teased, half-versions that came during songs like “Gold Dust Woman,” and “Rhianna,”
