I don't know how many of you love "I Can't Wait" - but it's one of my favorites. I was so excited that an extended version was included on ENCHANTED - but was slightly disappointed when I heard it. It just faded out at the end of the song, and didn't have the cool ending that the mix had on TIMESPACE. So I decided to create a COMPLETE version by taking the full ending of the TIMESPACE version and adding it to the "extended rock mix" from ENCHANTED. This makes it even longer, so I called it the "fully extended rock mix"!
I think it is MUCH better and the DEFINITIVE version of the song. I hope you guys agree. Let me know what you think!

It's been a while since I've listened to Enchanted but I'm quite certain that the extended rock version on Enchanted does not fade out ... it is in fact the original extended rock version that appeared on the 12" in 1986. The "Timespace" version is the same as what is on "Rock A Little", that one actually fades out ... the extended rock mix does not. However, I'm not sure if you are referring to the part of the song near the end where the music drops (the instrumental bridge I guess you could call it), that part is not on the Rock A Little and Timespace versions.
I haven't DL'ed your links yet.

Kevin,
I just listened to your version … I was thinking that you were simply going to add the instrumental breakdown bridge part (that is on Rock A Little and Timespace) before the music picks back up again and use the complete ending of the Rock Mix, but you actually added both endings to this mix. I think it would have been better if you simply added the instrumental bridge breakdown that is missing from the rock mix and just let the rock mix end normally.

When "I Can't Wait" was re-released in 1991 in the UK to promote TimeSpace, the CD-single had the Extended Rock Mix on it, but it faded. Maybe that's what Kevin was referring to also?
Yes, I'd love to hear a full Rock Mix with the instrumental part that's on Rock A Little (the part where Stevie shows off her lacy oh-so-1986 gloves when she dances in the video!).

I thought that too Mike, but no, I don't think so - if you hear his edit you'll see/hear what I mean. I don't mean to talk about Kevin like he's not in the room LOL - but I think he meant the instrumental break down (what he says as "fading out", that is the part that is missing from the rock mix), he included that in his mix but then it goes back to that same part and ends with the rock mix - so bascially, we're hearing the ending twice, both the original and rock mix endings ... tee hee

Yes, I see what you mean, now listening to the ending(s).

LOL - bless Kevin's heart, he tried. Kevin if you're out there, we're not being mean, just playing ... I appreciate you making the edit but again, if you simply add in the missing "instrumental breakdown" to the rock mix with the origianl rock mix ending all will be fab :-)

Good effort Kevin. I think it sounds great whatever you did! I must admit, you guys are good. I know the difference between the album version and extended mix but I have no idea about all this different ending stuff. That's pretty detailed stuff that obviously I'm no expert on.

Okay, okay...got the 3 CDs out tonight and refreshed my memory. I made this mix several years ago and had the 2 endings confused. The "extended rock mix" IS the one with an actual ending and TIMESPACE is the fade out. Also, I was confused about TIMESPACE - since so many of the songs on there were remixed for that collection, I was thinking "I Can't Wait" was one of them. But I just checked the credits and it lists "Mixed By..." and NOT "Remixed By..." like most of the others. I also played both TIMESPACE and ROCK A LITTLE simultaneously and verified they were the same. When the "extended rock mix" came out on ENCHANTED, I assumed it was the complete "remix" from TIMESPACE - didn't know it was ever on vinyl.
So yeah, I was confused about the facts. BUT I still think this mix is the best. I couldn't just add the "breakdown instrumental bridge" at 4:15 without cutting out the cool alternate transition at 5:45 that is exclusive to the extended rock mix, so yes - it does include both endings. Or as I see it, 2 different transitions. One transition INTO the instrumental bridge, the other transition INTO the ending, which is a last repeat of the chorus and then ad libbing "I'm out the door", etc. There is only a small section that is repeated - the VOCAL bridge which happens to be my favorite part of the song & where Stevie does her "warbling". (Have the fans ever come up with a word to describe that sound she makes here and in "Edge of 17" and "Gold Dust Woman" - you know what sound I'm talking about!)
When I created it, I had it all mapped out in my head and thought "why should we have to choose?" - I'd have the best of both versions! I'm glad there are people who are enjoying it as well.
