Chris Stein has announced the name of the new album on blondie.net (which was just redesigned, btw!) and there are a slew of new concert dates; some solo, some w/ Cheap Trick, and some with The B-52's!
(there is also a small photo of the strange cover art, but nothing HQ yet...they say they are "working on it"....)

I cover's not still being worked on. As far as we know, it's finished and has been released. It's on the bands website quite a few times.
By artist Chris Berens. I'm completely in love with it!

This is the best version I have seen yet. Chris' last update said they were working on getting a HQ version of it...thats what I meant by they were workin on it. they only had a small version of it that you couldnt see the details in.
Now that I see it little closer, I still dont like the cover.... I may be in the minority with this, but whatever.

Let me tell you, they are most excellent live! I saw them in a small club close by & I was right there in front. Deborah Harry rocks. :D

I only saw them once - it was at the Atlantic City Hilton a couple years back. I got 1st row on the right side of the stage, but the crowd was HORRIBLE and my gf and I were told by security to stay seated... we were pissed!
But DH noticed us and came over to us a bunch of times when we couldnt take it anymore and DID stand. It was a similar situation on the left side of the stage as well; a bunch of fans over there as well... but sans about 12 people the entire audience was a bunch of high rollers who didnt give a sh*t about being there. DH did acknowledge us at the end of the show saying "it was great that some real fans made it out tonight" as she looked at either side of the stage. We DID get a stick from Clem and a pick from Paul and handshakes from DH, so that totally made up for the dud of a venue.

I see Chris, Debbie, and Clem. Who are the other 3 guys? What happened to Jimmy? Frank?
I haven't kept up with the personnel changes over the years. I know Nigel has been out of the band since the early 80's but the last I knew was that Jimmy Destri was still in it. But this knowledge goes back probably 10 years when they had their late 90's (?) sorta comeback.
DefDumbandBlond

The other guys are Leigh Foxx (bass) Tommy Kessler (guitar) and Matt Katz-Bohen (keyboards).
Jimmy is still 'technically' part of the band but he hasn't recorded or toured with them since 2003 because of various reasons but the way his and their attitude is I don't think he'll be back with them.
Frank, Nigel, Gary etc. decided to file a lawsuit against them when they got back together in the 90s because they didn't want the band to re-group without them included and then when Frank basically made an ass out of himself at their R&R Hall Of Fame induction ceremony they haven't been on good terms at all.

The song "Mother" is about the NYC nightclub that was created by Johnny Dynell and Chi Chi Valenti which birthed Night of 1000 Stevies!

Nah, I think even the technicality of Jimmy is dissolved. I heard an interview with Jimmy from an Aussie radio program last year where he sounded pretty P.O.'ed with the band for $$ reasons... I guess they tried to "screw him out of some money" from The Curse (according to him) and they dont seem to be on good terms anymore. That seems to be the real reason he didnt record on Panic.
Matt is a little too out there for me, I really miss Jimmy!

Yeah I think he's pretty much done with it, he's still legally connected to them in terms of getting royalties for everything. I can't ever see him recording with them again, he seems to be content with his drug counseling which is great. :)

I found a download of this album and i am obsessed with it.
1. D-Day is very catchy and you have to go nuts during the guitar solo. You can hear the sarcasmism in Debbie's voice where she tell you how much you are "
going to love it". And right before the solo where she screams "that was the day doctor no said yes"
2. What I Heard is another amazing song. It's solid the whole way through. it could have easily been on Eat To The Beat.
3. Mother- can't say enough
4. End to End- her vocals sound over produced but this track grows on you.
5. Girlie Girlie- best reggae song by them since Tide is High. Its a lot of fun to listen to. I've let 3 people hear this song all of them wanted the album burned after hearing it.
6. Love Doesn't Frighten Me- another great rocker from Blondie. After this song the cd for me seems to loose it's steam.
7. Words in My Mouth- takes a couple of listens to grab you, but it's just my taste. I prefer rockers.
8. Sunday Smile- is probably my favorite slow song on this disc.
9.Wipe Off The Sweat- is my daughter's favorite song it's entirely in Spanish and Debbie calling for her Poppi makes you want to salsa.
10. Le blue- is entirely in French and the music sets a great mood. You can forget this is Blondie and picture an old french film and this being the soundtrack.
11. China Shoes- great song. This bluesly rock song closes out the record and I wish there was one more sons on the record like this one.
I'm not best reviewer but if you find the download of the album download it and buy it when it becomes available.
I read there are 2 bonus tracks on one of the releases. I hope they are new songs.
I'd rate this record better than The Curse of Blondie and better than No Exit, due to the fact that it feel cohesive. Blondie is staying in their comfort zone of experimenting and doing what they do well.

I saw them here in Boston a few years back and they were GREAT! I pulled a "Suzy at a Stevie concert" move and ran to the front at the end of the show. I was over 20 rows back! :D Debbie is amazing, her voice is still really solid and the band was so good. Of course, I never believed it was their last tour ever.

Okay, who has seen Blondie on their current tour? I am tempted to see them at the Highland Ballroom (general admission) on September 13 in NYC; there's a special for GiltCity members- $83 for a ticket, early admission and a signed copy of their new CD. The early admission works for me since I can't wait in line all day.

The two bonus songs on the UK magazine release version are Horizontal Twist and Mirame which are both new songs, both are great and are in my favourite bunch that have been added to my Blondie iTunes playlist.
I also heard that the german version contains two other bonus tracks that I have yet to see anywhere else so far.

Defiantly go, I saw them on the UK leg and it was great, a fine balance between new and old (I was especially surprised as the crowed were defiantly there for the classics, but the band played a healthy portion of the new album that went over really well)
I remember tweeting that Ms Nicks should take note that new songs can be played and crowd will not go running for the hills and never come again, but in retrospect Stevie has been quite daring with this year's set list (apart from dropping In Your Dreams after the first night)

The bonus tracks on the german release were "Sleeping Giant" and "End of the World". The latter is where the line "the excitement or the panic of girls" comes from and the former is a real timeless blast back into ETTB.

Just saw them at the Borgata in Atlantic Cityon Friday night! (the usual dull casino crowd for the most part) We got front row center section but were told to sit down :-(
The setlist was pretty amazing - Union City Blue, Dreaming, and Atomic opened the show, but since a majority of the room only sort of knew Dreaming they were given a lack luster welcome which was a huge disappointment... (UCB is prob my fav Blondie song, so I was thrilled!)
New songs are GREAT on stage and DH was, of course, playing with the fans in the crowd. So we still had a great time, each of us got a stick from Clem and a setlist too!
Anyone else catch them lately?

I'm going to see them tonight in Raleigh, NC. I've never seen them live, but I've been waiting for this moment ever since I was 12 years old and discovered their wonderful music and the gorgeous Debbie Harry.
The new album is superb! It's the perfect blend of styles that made Blondie the trailblazers they were back in the day.

I was particularly a fan of Blondie's late 70's to early 80's (except "The Hunter") & "No Exit" was good return. Though, the only 2 DH solo albums I liked are "Koo Koo" (loved Nile Rodgers at the time) & her last one "Necessary Evil".
Anyway, I've had this new album for months (since it was released in the UK) My brother-in law is a HUGE Debbie Harry fan, and let me rip it. I've skimmed it, for the most part liked what I heard, but haven't delved or listened any further. I need to start listening to this! And unfortunately, Blondie isn't planning on any dates thus far in the Denver/Boulder Colorado area, which sucks!

I love 'The Hunter'! It was a very troubled time for the band and I think it's fully expressed in the lyrics, the album cover, and even Debbie's voice throughout the record.

Well, maybe it was expressed via the things you point towards, but there was definitely trouble brewing in the quality of the songwriting & production:cool: I did enjoy "Danceway", "Little Caesar" and a few others, but "Island Of Lost Souls" & "War Child" were hot messess :o
This album was a MAJOR flop, but I do miss Jimmy Destri's contributions.
