While looking for the original lyrics/poetry for "Battle of The Dragon", I found Bobbye Hall's percussion guide for "All the Beautiful Worlds". The lyrics are all typed up, with some guides in the margins for Bobbye to use apparently.
Like, for the last verse, (shaker) with an arrow points to "And I see thru that smile..."
Then, during the (INST) part at the end is written "Tamb".
On the closing Vamp is written "Tamb & Conga". And more guides, etc.
The typed lyrics of Stevie's are exactly the same as the version we all have, no differences at all.
Now, the very, very, very, very, very interesting part is the date for Bobbye to do this work: October 20, 1983.
Well, Gordon Perry was very clear in 1996 when he told me that he produced the following songs in 1982 for The Wild Heart:
"Julia"
"Wild Heart"
"All The Beautiful Worlds"
"Gate and Garden"
"Destiny"
So... Two things come to mind. ("She does two things...!" Stop it, Michael!)
First, either Gordon was wrong in 1996 and, like "One More Big Time Rock and Roll Star", "All The Beautiful Worlds" was an early song recorded for Rock A Little in 1983. However, Gordon was very insistent that "Julia" and "All the Beautiful Worlds" were his two favourite songs and they were definitely recorded for The Wild Heart. It broke his heart when Iovine axed them, especially "Julia".
Or... Maybe Bobbye was hired to come in and put some more percussion on "All The Beautiful Worlds" in October 1983 to prep and enhance the song to be a b-side, perhaps for "Nightbird".
Whatever the answer may be, it's always interesting to get weird little glimpses into Stevie's World.
