There seem to be a lot of Courtney lovers here on The Ledge, be sure to check out this week's issue of Billboard, there's a big feature on Love in it, long article with one good very large photo. The article is very positive, the writer loves the new cd, and sales figures for her other releases are included, higher than I expected. Using 'Hole' for the release is part of a marketing strategy, because Love and her handlers feel the name 'Courtney Love' is a drawback, both at radio and for booking purposes. The article claims that she is excellent live, and draws big crowds, but promoters are skeptical of the 'CL' brand-name.
It seems she is poised for a huge comeback with some real industry support, and releasing the cd as 'Hole' seems to be another indication of how badly she wants to co-operate and make it.
Some radio guy was quoted that Courtney is 'too polarizing' which is why she doesn't get immediate airplay, it seems 'polarizing' is a factor that has created many huge acts- I need to get out the dictionary, but I think the word means 'either love her or hate her' and that can go for a lot of stars. The song everyone seems to like here, 'Pacific Coast Highway' was favorably mentioned in the article. That's about all I recall of it, I read it last night (Friday) at Barnes and Noble, so hopefully it's still on newstands for those interested.

First of all I must have forgotten about this little Rhiannon cameo on "Pretty on the Inside" - pretty cool. Haven't listened to the CD itself in quite sometime.
I'm a big Courtney Love/Hole fan myself. I'm looking forward to the release of "Nobody's Daughter" on April 26. "Samantha" which is free online is a great track, and if it's any indication the album is going to be great. I have heard the new "Pacific Coast Highway" and I must say so far I prefer the unreleased version she did with Linda Perry better, but maybe this new one will grow on me too-it's hard (as we Stevie fans know with songs like "Smile At You") to accept "new" versions of demo favorites.

^ I completely agree about Pacific Coast Highway. I hope I can like the new one, but if not I still got the Linda Perry demo. :blob1:
